Hi, all, Ayshah here with your Tuesday Newsround update!
First up, homework and a school that does it differently.
Most schools do homework, but some think primary
schools should scrap it.
Jenny's been to a school that swapped spellings
and sums for other things.
I went on a conker walk.
I fit my entire body through a piece of a
full A4 paper.
I designed my own board game.
I made a cake from scratch.
These might sound like fun things you do on a weekend, but they are
actually homework tasks set by the headteacher at this primary
school in Yorkshire, where they can pick
If you're not too busy after doing all that homework,
how about a spot of cow-riding?
Yes, that's right, cow-riding!
I know, sounds udderly ridiculous to me.
But that's what one girl in New Zealand is doing.
Take a look at this.
This is Hannah Simpson.
As an 11-year-old, she dreamed of having a
horse, but when her parents said no, she moved onto the next best thing
and jumped on a cow instead.
I've always loved adventure, so I think
it was an idea from my younger brother to ride the cow, so I just
jumped on and away we went.
Hannah lives on a dairy farm in New Zealand
and became instant friends with Swiss brown cow, Lilac.
The unusual pair are common sight in the local
town as they go about their daily rides.
Hannah has even taught Lilac to jump!
OK, that's just milking it.
Although she doesn't always behave herself.
We're not finished!
It depends on her mood, I guess.
Sometimes she loves going up the road and down the river.
She gets bored, I think, on the farm.
Cow riding may be unusual, but it is all good for Lilac.
I don't think it will do any harm to the cow, I think
it's very good for the cow to get out and about and do something
Hannah's now 18 and these two best friends are
I couldn't imagine ever getting rid of Lilac.
She's definitely not for sale.
You don't need a cow calculator to work out
that Lilac really is outstanding in her field.
That's all from me and the team today, go online to see our weather
report on whether or not snow could be coming this week.
Ricky's got your Newsround headlines tomorrow morning at 7.40am,
so do join us then.
