A new type of dinosaur is found in Australia. | :00:00. | :00:15.
And, the kids being paid to read to their hairdressers. | :00:16. | :00:24.
First, let's get straight to the football, with two English | :00:25. | :00:27.
teams involved in the Europa League last night. | :00:28. | :00:30.
World record signing Paul Pogba scored twice for Man United | :00:31. | :00:35.
as they coasted to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Turkish team | :00:36. | :00:37.
And, Southampton took on Italian giants Inter Milan at the San Siro | :00:38. | :00:45.
and despite creating a load of chances, couldn't | :00:46. | :00:47.
manage to find the net, and slipped to a 1-0 defeat. | :00:48. | :00:53.
Special services took place last night to mark 50 years | :00:54. | :00:55.
since the Aberfan disaster, when a waste heap collapsed | :00:56. | :00:57.
144 people died and there was a big investigation into what went wrong. | :00:58. | :01:08.
After the disaster, new laws were brought in to make sure that | :01:09. | :01:11.
nothing like this would ever happen again. | :01:12. | :01:15.
More than 50 years ago the region was an important source of coal - | :01:16. | :01:22.
the material used to heat homes and power trains. | :01:23. | :01:24.
The area was heavily mined, and for years the leftover soil, | :01:25. | :01:27.
dug out with the coal, was heaped up in big | :01:28. | :01:29.
But the ground the waste was piled up on wasn't stable. | :01:30. | :01:36.
It soaked up water, loosening the rock below. | :01:37. | :01:41.
Then on the 21st of October 1966, the build-up of waste suddenly | :01:42. | :01:44.
collapsed, and slid down into the surrounding area covering | :01:45. | :01:46.
Huge rescue efforts were made, but a lot of people died. | :01:47. | :01:55.
This memorial garden is one of the ways people in Aberfan | :01:56. | :01:58.
Jeff Edwards was at the school when the disaster happened. | :01:59. | :02:05.
In 1966 it was a very thriving community. | :02:06. | :02:12.
If you look at it today, it is still very vibrant, | :02:13. | :02:15.
a new generation have come about, and I think it is important | :02:16. | :02:18.
for the people that the community has a future. | :02:19. | :02:20.
Before the disaster happened, there had been questions raised | :02:21. | :02:32.
about how safe the waste pile was - but nothing was changed. | :02:33. | :02:37.
Afterwards, an investigation found that the National Coal Board, | :02:38. | :02:39.
who owned the waste tip, were at fault for ignoring | :02:40. | :02:42.
The disaster here in Aberfan was devastating for many families. | :02:43. | :02:50.
People around the country were shocked about what happened. | :02:51. | :02:53.
As a result, new safety rules about mines and quarries were made | :02:54. | :02:56.
to make schools, villages and the areas around them safe | :02:57. | :02:58.
and to stop anything like this happening again. | :02:59. | :03:04.
At this school in Aberfan, children have been remembering | :03:05. | :03:06.
I think it is important, because it was a big | :03:07. | :03:11.
thing that happened, and we don't want it | :03:12. | :03:13.
We have assembly, we do work on it in class. | :03:14. | :03:20.
It is emotional, because if you think about all the people | :03:21. | :03:24.
who lost their lives, at such a young age, it is very sad. | :03:25. | :03:28.
But we look at the happy side and look at the future and remember | :03:29. | :03:32.
We have been doing a painting of Aberfan and the future. | :03:33. | :03:47.
I painted the memorial garden and the yard. | :03:48. | :03:52.
If you want to know more about what happened in Aberfan then | :03:53. | :03:55.

Now you've read the book, you get $2 off. | :05:14. | :05:21.
You did a wonderful job. You have a good day. | :05:22. | :05:27.
