Today, we are all about the Olympics.

Or, as I like to say, the Let's Golympics.

We'll also be hanging out with a Brazilian armadillo called Melon.

Too cute! Let's Goers Lucas and Saifa have a go at sailing.

There's Olympic fact-finding, and Abe has

a sprinting sticks excellent experiment.

Hello, my name is Saifa.

And my name is Lucas and today, we are going sailing.

BOTH: Let's go.

Norman is a sailor.

He's going to teach us everything we need to know to sail the boat

out on the water.

How are sailing boats different from other boats?

A sailing boat doesn't have an engine, doesn't have paddles.

It has a sail, which is powered by the wind and pulls it along.

-Are we ready to go sailing now?

-Not quite.

We need to put a buoyancy aid on.

These keep you safe when you're on the water

and will make you float if anything should happen.

Can the wind blow the boat over?

No. It can tip slightly -

a little bit of water may get in, but you're both kitted out

with waterproof clothing, so you'll be perfectly sound.

I like the buoyancy aid because it can keep me safe.

We've put our buoyancy aids on,

so now it's time to get the boats ready.

The special piece of equipment lifts me out of my wheelchair

and puts me safely in the boat.

Can we move the sail?

Yes, we can - by pulling on this rope here, you can pull the sail in.

It will fill with wind and the boat will go.

-How do we steer the boat?

-Moving the lever will make the boat turn.

You move the stick either to the red, which says "port",

to the green, which says "starboard",

or in the middle to go straight.

You move it all the way across both ways.

Are you ready to go sailing?

BOTH: Yeah!

While we practise, Norman keeps hold of the rope, so we're always safe.

Now you're sailing on your own, I'm not pulling.

Right, you've done fantastic this morning.

I want you to go out to that mark with number 1 on,

go around it and come back to me.

Yeah?

Right, where's the ball?

I'm using the steering control.

This changes the boat's direction.

Whoo!

Absolutely brilliant.

Well done.

Wow! We're so close to the water.

We're now sailing all by ourselves,

but Norman is always close by to help us if we need it.

Let your rope slide through your hand a little.

That's it, lovely.

I am pulling a rope to move the sail.

When the wind hits the sail, the boat goes faster.

Dahhh!

BOTH: Ahhh!

A big gust of wind nearly tipped our boat over.

BOTH: Ahh!

What's it doing?

It was scary, but we were OK.

Sailing is great.

When I'm on the water, it doesn't matter that I use a wheelchair.

Yay, we're sailing. In the ocean.

You've done fantastic.

You did everything I've asked. Have you enjoyed it?

BOTH: Yeah!

And what did you enjoy the most?

When we went around the island, I liked it when we saw the ducks.

I enjoyed it when we went around the island because you could go

wherever you wanted and you could relax.

You've done really, really well, and now I've got

a certificate for both of you, which says you're a sailor like me.

-I've heard that you're a bit of a fan of animals.

-I am.

Animals are my favourite. Elephants are my absolute favourite.

You are going to love this, then, because the Olympic Games

have just started up in Rio, and this is Vinicius, the Games' mascot.

Vinicius is a mixture of different Brazilian animals, and we've

got our very own South American animals in the Clubhouse today.

We're also joined by Scott, who looks after them. Hi, Scott.

-Hi, Lizzie.

-So, who do we have with us today?

Today, we've got Melon, who is an armadillo from Brazil.

And two friends - Dylan and Doris.

They're so cute.

I love them.

What kind of armadillo are they?

Dylan and Doris are six-banded armadillos.

You can see all the bands across their back.

Melon is one of the smallest armadillos in the world -

she's a three-banded armadillo.

Armadillos don't see very well, but they've got

a super sense of smell to find their way around, and they've

got this big hard shell to protect themselves from danger.

What do armadillos eat?

Well, they like to eat plants,

they like to eat fruit and bugs, as well.

-Do you want to try feeding him some?

-Yeah.

-OK.

So if you pop your hand out like this,

you're going to let a few sit on your hand and we're going to see.

-(Hey, Melon.

-There we go.)

What does that feel like, Hetty?

-Wet.

-Wet?

So, Scott, where do armadillos normally live?

Most armadillos come from South America,

so they live in rainforests, grasslands,

and they like it where it's really, really hot.

-So they wouldn't make good pets?

-They wouldn't.

They're a wild animal and they need loads of space to run around in,

and most of them wake up at night-time.

-Who would like to hold Melon?

-Me.

-Would you like to hold him?

-Max.

So, if you put two hands together and hold it like a football.

Like a football.

-Wow! Does she feel heavy, Max?

-Yes.

-Is she heavy?

Oh, look, she's rolled up into a little ball.

They curl up in a ball to protect themselves from danger

and all they leave showing is this really hard shell.

-Wow.

-Look at that perfect ball.

THEY LAUGH

-She's feisty, isn't she, Max?

-She wants to explore Max.

We're going to show you how to make some sprinting sticks.

So what do we need?

We need loads of craft sticks and a nice soft surface to work on.

We've got both of those - shall we get cracking?

Make sure to move one stick over and under another to make a chain.

It's good to use two different colours

so you know which stick's coming next.

A soft surface really helps you when you're moving

one chain underneath the next.

You need to keep the gaps between the sticks the same

so that it's really even.

Right, we're ready. So stand back, everyone. Get ready.

We like being sporty.

So we're going to play some games in the Let's Golympics.

If you like sport, here's something you can do.

We need to get everything ready for all the different games.

Let's Golympics!

We're using swimming floats as hurdles.

We use plastic bottles to stand them up.

And we need to put cones down for the lanes.

These balls will be good for playing shot put with.

These flying discs will make great discus.

We're ready for the Let's Golympics.

ALL: Yay!

We had a skipping competition to see who could go round the fastest.

We took turns throwing our flying discs, too.

For our last game, we ran a hurdles race.

We all got medals for taking part.

We love being sporty, so we did this.
