0:01:370:01:39

Let's go!

0:01:390:01:41

Hi, I'm Tom.

0:01:410:01:42

And I'm Nell. Today, we're going to be radio reporters.

0:01:420:01:46

BOTH: Let's go!

0:01:460:01:48

A radio reporter is a person who puts stories together that

0:01:480:01:52

are played on the radio.

0:01:520:01:54

This is Kayleigh and she makes CBeebies Radio.

0:01:540:01:58

Hello. Hi, Kayleigh. Where do we start?

0:01:580:02:01

So, first things first, I'm going to show you how to use the equipment

0:02:010:02:06

that we're going to use today, OK?

0:02:060:02:08

So, have you ever seen one of these before? What's one of these?

0:02:080:02:12

BOTH: A microphone. It IS a microphone.

0:02:120:02:14

There are lots of cables to plug in.

0:02:140:02:17

We tried on the headphones.

0:02:170:02:20

How do they feel? Great. Yeah? Fantastic.

0:02:200:02:23

Kayleigh gave us two top tips.

0:02:230:02:25

Not to hold the microphone too close to our mouths.

0:02:250:02:29

Hold the microphone here.

0:02:290:02:30

Take your hand away and then you know where you need to hold it.

0:02:300:02:34

Hello, now. Can you hear me?

0:02:340:02:36

So, shall we go and make our radio story?

0:02:360:02:38

BOTH: Yes! Come on then.

0:02:380:02:41

We're going on a sound walk.

0:02:410:02:44

We'll be collecting all the sounds you might find in the city.

0:02:440:02:48

Put your hand to your ear like this.

0:02:480:02:51

TRAM HORN SOUNDS

0:02:510:02:53

I just heard a hooter off a train.

0:02:530:02:57

A hoot of a train?

0:02:570:03:00

We hold the microphone high up...

0:03:000:03:05

..and low down.

0:03:060:03:09

Can you press that one?

0:03:100:03:12

Brilliant.

0:03:120:03:15

We heard buses. Cyclists.

0:03:150:03:18

And cars.

0:03:180:03:19

TRAM HORN SOUNDS

0:03:190:03:21

We went into a shop to record the sounds in there.

0:03:210:03:25

We bought some bananas and listened to the checkout machine.

0:03:250:03:31

CHECKOUT: Please insert cash or select payment method.

0:03:310:03:34

I can hear a person talking.

0:03:340:03:38

Listen out for those coins.

0:03:380:03:41

We're going to eat our lunch now.

0:03:440:03:46

That will make lots of different noises, too.

0:03:460:03:50

Fancy that.

0:03:540:03:57

We've collected all the sounds we need for our radio report.

0:03:570:04:00

Now it's time to put it all together.

0:04:000:04:03

But first I want to show you something really cool.

0:04:030:04:06

Just keep your eyes on the desk. Watch this. Ready?

0:04:060:04:10

Wow!

0:04:100:04:12

Check that out. It's like they're having a party.

0:04:120:04:16

We had to go into another room to record our voices.

0:04:160:04:20

And we have to pretend that someone is at the back of the room

0:04:200:04:24

so that they can hear us clearly.

0:04:240:04:27

So shall we give that a go?

0:04:270:04:29

Hi, I'm Tom.

0:04:290:04:31

Hi, I'm Nell.

0:04:310:04:32

We've recorded our voices so our CBeebies report is ready.

0:04:320:04:37

Here's a little bit of the report now.

0:04:370:04:41

BOTH: 'Today, we are Cbeebies radio reporters!'

0:04:410:04:47

'Manchester is a really big city. There's so much to see.'

0:04:470:04:52

'We're not here to SEE anything, are we, Tom?

0:04:520:04:56

'Nope. We're here to listen.'

0:04:560:04:59

BOTH: 'Let's go!'

0:04:590:05:01

Kayleigh, do you think we're good radio reporters?

0:05:010:05:04

Tom, I thought you were absolutely fantastic, the pair of you.

0:05:040:05:08

Did you enjoy yourselves? BOTH: Yeah!

0:05:080:05:10

I'm glad to hear it.

0:05:100:05:12

Great work, Nell and Thomas. You sounded awesome.

0:05:140:05:17

You can listen to their report on Cbeebies Radio.

0:05:170:05:20

From behind the microphone to in front of the camera -

0:05:200:05:23

let's take a look at the amazing Send-Ins you've sent us this week.

0:05:230:05:29

Lots of you were inspired by our summer seaside special,

0:05:290:05:32

like Hannah, who's been writing messages in the sand

0:05:320:05:36

on Llandudno beach.

0:05:360:05:37

Katie has been crabbing on her holiday to Cornwall.

0:05:370:05:41

She's going to need a bigger bucket.

0:05:410:05:43

Oliver made this brilliant turtle from sand and shells

0:05:430:05:47

on Bournemouth beach.

0:05:470:05:48

Eva loved Joanna's Quick Trick so much that she's made her own

0:05:480:05:52

rainbow-coloured sand castle and so has Eden in his garden sand pit.

0:05:520:05:57

And Alexander, too. Sand-tastic!

0:05:570:06:00

Niamh has been getting her bake on, making a super tasty Zebra cake.

0:06:000:06:05

Mmm, delish!

0:06:050:06:07

Flynn is going for the healthy option

0:06:070:06:09

with this cucumber and tomato kebab.

0:06:090:06:12

Shikayla's been busy in the kitchen, too, making crispy snacks.

0:06:120:06:16

I want one!

0:06:160:06:18

If you've been inspired by anything in the clubhouse,

0:06:180:06:21

or if you've made something you want to show off,

0:06:210:06:24

remember to send it in. Grab a grown-up,

0:06:240:06:26

go to the website and look for the Let's Go Club.

0:06:260:06:29

Someone who loves taking photographs is photographer Lily -

0:06:290:06:33

she's with Martin right now.

0:06:330:06:35

Thanks, guys. Lily helps people take photos

0:06:370:06:40

and she joins us in the clubhouse today

0:06:400:06:43

to give us some top photography tips. Hello, Lily.

0:06:430:06:46

Hello, everyone. Thanks for joining us.

0:06:460:06:48

Today we also have Jessica, Ruby, Ewan, Owen and Alfie

0:06:480:06:52

and they're going to be helping us out. Shall we get started?

0:06:520:06:56

Today, we're going to be working with perspective photography.

0:06:560:07:00

This is when we want something small to look really big,

0:07:000:07:03

or something big to look really small.

0:07:030:07:06

Wow! So should we give it a go? Great.

0:07:060:07:08

Ewan, can you come and stand and pretend to be eaten?

0:07:080:07:13

Well done, Ruby. Let's get that dinosaur set up.

0:07:130:07:16

We're going to make the dinosaur look big

0:07:160:07:19

and we're going to make Ewan look really small.

0:07:190:07:21

Ruby, tell me, what's happening now? The dinosaur is eating Ewan.

0:07:210:07:26

Well done! Ewan, are you scared? Yeah.

0:07:260:07:29

Jessica, does the dinosaur look big? Yes.

0:07:290:07:31

What does Ewan look like? Small.

0:07:310:07:34

Let's take the picture.

0:07:340:07:35

Because the dinosaur is closer to the camera, we're tricking it.

0:07:350:07:39

We're making Ewan very small. Well done. Ewan, fantastic stuff.

0:07:390:07:43

Great pose. It was good. BOTH: Can we have another one.

0:07:430:07:46

You want another one? Yeah.

0:07:460:07:48

Great, let's do another one. OK, then, good.

0:07:480:07:51

Shall I go in this spot here? Yes. Good.

0:07:510:07:55

Owen, are you feeling up to holding Martin up?

0:07:550:07:57

Can do it? There's no way these boys can hold me up.

0:07:570:08:01

I'm too big and heavy for that. Just drop it lower. That's great.

0:08:010:08:04

Martin is so far away in the frame, he looks small, doesn't he?

0:08:040:08:08

Owen is close to the camera, so he looks big. Great.

0:08:080:08:12

We need you to raise your hand a little bit and then move your

0:08:120:08:16

hand that way a little bit. What do you think now?

0:08:160:08:18

Do you think it looks like Owen's carrying him? Yeah.

0:08:180:08:22

Martin, we're ready. One, two, and go!

0:08:220:08:25

Great. Now we're going to really have some fun.

0:08:250:08:28

Let's take a silly picture!

0:08:280:08:30

Yes, that's the best ones.

0:08:300:08:33

Oh, looking good. Look at that.

0:08:330:08:35

Now we've all got to be as silly as possible.

0:08:350:08:39

So think about silly hats, silly faces.

0:08:390:08:42

If you guys want some photography top tips,

0:08:420:08:46

just go to the CBeebies website

0:08:460:08:48

and we also want you to send us in your pics.

0:08:480:08:51

# The Let's Go Club. #

0:08:510:08:55

Let's go!

0:08:550:08:56

Welcome to the Let's Go Club weather report with me, Joanna.

0:08:560:09:00

Today, you've been making waves in the weather world with your funny...

0:09:000:09:05

Sorry, sunny, funny!

0:09:050:09:06

Funny spells.

0:09:060:09:08

I don't want to steal your thunder, so let's take a look at them.

0:09:080:09:12

George from Hebden Bridge has been creating

0:09:120:09:16

a storm in the puddles in his back garden.

0:09:160:09:19

Matilda, aged three, you RAIN supreme with this brilliant video.

0:09:190:09:24

Finally, Jessica and Alice, from Staffordshire,

0:09:240:09:27

you've outshone us all with your sunny faces.

0:09:270:09:30

Thank you for sending in your fantastic photos and videos.

0:09:300:09:34

You have brightened up the clubhouse and blown away the cobwebs.

0:09:340:09:38

Now it's time for some more fantastic facts about the weather.

0:09:380:09:42

Fact fans, today we're finding out all about weather.

0:09:420:09:47

Bright, light sunshine.

0:09:480:09:50

Whirling, swirling wind.

0:09:500:09:53

Pouring, roaring rain.

0:09:530:09:56

Frosty, sparkly snowflakes.

0:09:560:09:59

Whatever the weather, let's get to those facts.

0:09:590:10:03

First up, you can see rainbows in the middle of the night.

0:10:030:10:07

That's right!

0:10:070:10:09

You might have thought you could only see rainbows during the day,

0:10:090:10:14

when the sun is shining, but they can appear at any time.

0:10:140:10:19

The ones that come out to play after dark are called moonbows.

0:10:190:10:23

They are made by the light that bounces off the moon

0:10:230:10:27

through rain or soggy clouds.

0:10:270:10:29

And a moonbow, like a rainbow,

0:10:290:10:33

is almost impossible to follow all the way to the end.

0:10:330:10:37

Next, if we didn't have the sun, there wouldn't be any weather.

0:10:370:10:42

You might think it odd, but without it's lovely warm sunshine,

0:10:420:10:46

there'd be no wind, no rain, no clouds.

0:10:460:10:51

Basically, no atmosphere.

0:10:510:10:53

But there would be lots and lots of ice.

0:10:540:10:59

The temperature on earth would drop well below freezing.

0:10:590:11:03

The planet would turn into one giant icicle.

0:11:030:11:07

Not cool but very chilly!

0:11:070:11:10

Next, wind is completely invisible.

0:11:120:11:15

You can't see wind -

0:11:150:11:17

it's a air rushing from one place to another -

0:11:170:11:21

but you can definitely hear it

0:11:210:11:22

and see what it does to the things all around you.

0:11:220:11:26

The strongest winds, hurricanes, are given names -

0:11:260:11:30

a bit like you or and me -

0:11:300:11:33

from Barry to Lisa, Peter to Rebecca.

0:11:330:11:37

But there hasn't been one called Craig, yet!

0:11:370:11:41

And, finally, snow can be pink.

0:11:430:11:46

It's all because of a tiny plant that likes to live

0:11:460:11:49

on freezing mountain slopes.

0:11:490:11:51

In winter, when snow falls on the ground, it covers over these plants.

0:11:510:11:56

Then when spring begins to warm things up,

0:11:560:12:00

the snow starts to melt and the tiny plants bloom.

0:12:000:12:04

This makes pink patches appear in the snow.

0:12:040:12:08

Something else happens, too.

0:12:080:12:10

The plants make the snow smell sweet.

0:12:100:12:13

This colourful wonder is known as watermelon snow.

0:12:130:12:17

Fact!

0:12:170:12:19

# The Let's Go Club. #

0:12:200:12:22

Let's go!

0:12:220:12:24

I've come outside for today's excellent experiment

0:12:240:12:27

and it's called squirty chalk. Let's get started.

0:12:270:12:30

First, you need one bottle with a squirty top

0:12:300:12:34

and put some bicarbonate of soda in.

0:12:340:12:37

Then we add some cornflour.

0:12:390:12:42

Now, fill it up with water.

0:12:470:12:49

We add a little bit of food colouring.

0:12:490:12:51

Grab a grown-up to help you with this part.

0:12:510:12:54

It's fun to use different colours and today I used yellow.

0:12:540:12:58

Then, give it a shake.

0:12:580:13:00

Now, because this is an excellent experiment,

0:13:000:13:03

we want to get one step further.

0:13:030:13:05

Take a second squirty bottle, with a squirty lid,

0:13:050:13:09

and fill it with vinegar.

0:13:090:13:12

Make sure you get a grown-up to help you.

0:13:130:13:16

Now we add some different food colouring to this one.

0:13:160:13:19

I'm going to use blue.

0:13:190:13:20

That's our squirty chalk. Let's make a picture with them.

0:13:200:13:25

Watch what happens when I add the vinegar.

0:13:330:13:36

When the vinegar mixes with the bicarbonate of soda,

0:13:360:13:39

it makes it go all bubbly. It all fizzes up!

0:13:390:13:43

That fizz really is the biz and if you want to try out this

0:13:430:13:46

excellent experiment at home,

0:13:460:13:48

then there's a clip all about it on the website.

0:13:480:13:51

If you enjoyed Lily's tips for taking good photographs,

0:13:510:13:55

then you're definitely going to enjoy these ideas on how

0:13:550:13:58

to save your precious memories. Check this out.

0:13:580:14:02

# The Let's Go Club. #

0:14:020:14:03

Let's go!

0:14:030:14:05

Hi, I'm Annabel. And my name's Ruth.

0:14:050:14:08

We all love going on adventures and collecting things on the way.

0:14:080:14:13

We're going to make a memory box...

0:14:130:14:16

To store all our souvenirs in.

0:14:160:14:18

If you like going on adventures, here's something you can do.

0:14:180:14:22

First, we are going to decorate our memory box. Let's get making!

0:14:220:14:26

'We're going to paint the lid first.'

0:14:280:14:31

'I'm painting it blue, like the sky.'

0:14:310:14:34

I'm sticking this plane on the memory box because it reminds

0:14:340:14:37

me of my holiday in Crete.

0:14:370:14:39

'I'm putting this train on because I went on a journey on the train.'

0:14:390:14:43

'Our memory box has cars, trains and planes on it.'

0:14:430:14:47

We found these pebbles by the river

0:14:470:14:50

and we're going to put them on the memory box, too.

0:14:500:14:53

I found these feathers in the forest.

0:14:530:14:56

We're going for a picnic while the memory box dries.

0:14:560:15:00

We will be able to put all the things in here

0:15:000:15:03

from the adventures we go on.

0:15:030:15:06
