Hi, I'm Tom.

And I'm Nell. Today, we're going to be radio reporters.

BOTH: Let's go!

A radio reporter is a person who puts stories together that

are played on the radio.

This is Kayleigh and she makes CBeebies Radio.

Hello. Hi, Kayleigh. Where do we start?

So, first things first, I'm going to show you how to use the equipment

that we're going to use today, OK?

So, have you ever seen one of these before? What's one of these?

BOTH: A microphone. It IS a microphone.

There are lots of cables to plug in.

We tried on the headphones.

How do they feel? Great. Yeah? Fantastic.

Kayleigh gave us two top tips.

Not to hold the microphone too close to our mouths.

Hold the microphone here.

Take your hand away and then you know where you need to hold it.

Hello, now. Can you hear me?

So, shall we go and make our radio story?

BOTH: Yes! Come on then.

We're going on a sound walk.

We'll be collecting all the sounds you might find in the city.

I just heard a hooter off a train.

A hoot of a train?

We hold the microphone high up...

..and low down.

Can you press that one?

Brilliant.

We heard buses. Cyclists.

And cars.

We went into a shop to record the sounds in there.

We bought some bananas and listened to the checkout machine.

I can hear a person talking.

Listen out for those coins.

We're going to eat our lunch now.

That will make lots of different noises, too.

Fancy that.

We've collected all the sounds we need for our radio report.

Now it's time to put it all together.

But first I want to show you something really cool.

We had to go into another room to record our voices.

And we have to pretend that someone is at the back of the room

so that they can hear us clearly.

Katie has been crabbing on her holiday to Cornwall.

She's going to need a bigger bucket.

Oliver made this brilliant turtle from sand and shells

on Bournemouth beach.

Eva loved Joanna's Quick Trick so much that she's made her own

rainbow-coloured sand castle and so has Eden in his garden sand pit.

And Alexander, too. Sand-tastic!

Niamh has been getting her bake on, making a super tasty Zebra cake.

Flynn is going for the healthy option

Today we also have Jessica, Ruby, Ewan, Owen and Alfie

Today, we're going to be working with perspective photography.

This is when we want something small to look really big,

or something big to look really small.

Wow! So should we give it a go? Great.

Ewan, can you come and stand and pretend to be eaten?

Well done, Ruby. Let's get that dinosaur set up.

We're going to make the dinosaur look big

and we're going to make Ewan look really small.

Ruby, tell me, what's happening now? The dinosaur is eating Ewan.

Well done! Ewan, are you scared? Yeah.

Jessica, does the dinosaur look big? Yes.

What does Ewan look like? Small.

Let's take the picture.

Because the dinosaur is closer to the camera, we're tricking it.

We're making Ewan very small. Well done. Ewan, fantastic stuff.

Owen, are you feeling up to holding Martin up?

Funny spells.

I don't want to steal your thunder, so let's take a look at them.

George from Hebden Bridge has been creating

a storm in the puddles in his back garden.

Matilda, aged three, you RAIN supreme with this brilliant video.

Finally, Jessica and Alice, from Staffordshire,

you've outshone us all with your sunny faces.

You have brightened up the clubhouse and blown away the cobwebs.

Now it's time for some more fantastic facts about the weather.

Fact fans, today we're finding out all about weather.

Bright, light sunshine.

Whirling, swirling wind.

Pouring, roaring rain.

Frosty, sparkly snowflakes.

Whatever the weather, let's get to those facts.

First up, you can see rainbows in the middle of the night.

That's right!

You might have thought you could only see rainbows during the day,

when the sun is shining, but they can appear at any time.

The ones that come out to play after dark are called moonbows.

They are made by the light that bounces off the moon

through rain or soggy clouds.

And a moonbow, like a rainbow,

is almost impossible to follow all the way to the end.

Next, if we didn't have the sun, there wouldn't be any weather.

You might think it odd, but without it's lovely warm sunshine,

there'd be no wind, no rain, no clouds.

Basically, no atmosphere.

But there would be lots and lots of ice.

The temperature on earth would drop well below freezing.

The planet would turn into one giant icicle.

Not cool but very chilly!

Next, wind is completely invisible.

You can't see wind -

it's a air rushing from one place to another -

but you can definitely hear it

and see what it does to the things all around you.

The strongest winds, hurricanes, are given names -

a bit like you or and me -

from Barry to Lisa, Peter to Rebecca.

But there hasn't been one called Craig, yet!

And, finally, snow can be pink.

It's all because of a tiny plant that likes to live

on freezing mountain slopes.

In winter, when snow falls on the ground, it covers over these plants.

Then when spring begins to warm things up,

the snow starts to melt and the tiny plants bloom.

This makes pink patches appear in the snow.

Something else happens, too.

The plants make the snow smell sweet.

This colourful wonder is known as watermelon snow.

# The Let's Go Club. #

Let's go!

I've come outside for today's excellent experiment

and it's called squirty chalk. Let's get started.

First, you need one bottle with a squirty top

and put some bicarbonate of soda in.

Then we add some cornflour.

Now, fill it up with water.

We add a little bit of food colouring.

Grab a grown-up to help you with this part.

It's fun to use different colours and today I used yellow.

Then, give it a shake.

Now, because this is an excellent experiment,

we want to get one step further.

Take a second squirty bottle, with a squirty lid,

and fill it with vinegar.

Make sure you get a grown-up to help you.

Now we add some different food colouring to this one.

I'm going to use blue.

That's our squirty chalk. Let's make a picture with them.

Watch what happens when I add the vinegar.

When the vinegar mixes with the bicarbonate of soda,

it makes it go all bubbly. It all fizzes up!

That fizz really is the biz and if you want to try out this

excellent experiment at home,

Hi, I'm Annabel. And my name's Ruth.

We all love going on adventures and collecting things on the way.

We're going to make a memory box...

To store all our souvenirs in.

If you like going on adventures, here's something you can do.

First, we are going to decorate our memory box. Let's get making!

'We're going to paint the lid first.'

'I'm painting it blue, like the sky.'

I'm sticking this plane on the memory box because it reminds

me of my holiday in Crete.

'I'm putting this train on because I went on a journey on the train.'

'Our memory box has cars, trains and planes on it.'

We found these pebbles by the river

and we're going to put them on the memory box, too.

I found these feathers in the forest.

We're going for a picnic while the memory box dries.

We will be able to put all the things in here

from the adventures we go on.

Going on a picnic is like having an adventure.

Look, everyone! Look at this really pretty leaf!

We can put this leaf in the memory box.

We loved our adventure to the park.

Now it's time to put all our souvenirs in the box.

I found these shells on holiday.

I found this pine cone when I made a den.

We can put this leaf in the memory box from our picnic.

BOTH: Yeah!

We like remembering our adventures together, so we did this.
