-one of the highlights of the year.

-that I'm back again this year.

-Copperfest isn't the only festival

-being held this weekend.

-Crug Mawr Festival in Cardigan...

-who are performing there tomorrow.

-..who help us to set everything up.

-It was started back in 2004 and

-is going from strength to strength.

-It was the children's day today.

-for the first time.

-We've seen some skilled players.

-The skills demonstrated today

-really showcase the talent in Wales.

-The WRU are investing in youth

-coaching and that's showing.

-These children are getting

-to play tag and start ball early.

-That support continues as they

-progress through the sections.

-You have a son of your own.

-How important is it

-to nurture that talent?

-It's essential - my son, Sion

-is nine and loves playing rugby.

-When I was at school, we didn't

-start rugby until we were about 11.

-These youngsters are kicking the

-ball from the age of six.

-They meet and make friends

-but have fun.

-There's no shouting from

-over-enthusiastic parents.

-You're the treasurer

-for the junior section.

-The money raised is re-invested.

-Yes, we invest it all in the

-season's rugby which is essential.

-I now face a run of 65 miles.

-The fourth Crug Mawr Festival starts

-This field is steeped in history.

-In 1136, it had the Battle of Crug

-Mawr between the Welsh and Normans.

-I'm glad to say that the Welsh won!

-In 2003,

-we started a Welsh festival.

-We've got a few stages but the main

-stage is the blue and white tent.

-Tonight, there's Raffdam,

-Roc Cana, Y Cledrau...

-..Welsh Whisperer and DJ Bry.

-On Saturday, there's Patrobas,

-Iwcs, Bromas, Fleur de Lys...

-The Penparcau Forum is an example

-of how volunteers can help others.

-from South Wales to North Wales...

-..or entered Aberystwyth

-..you will have passed through

-the village of Penparcau.

-It's more than a corridor

-as it has a busy community.

-In the last century, it has grown

-out of a few fields and two farms!

-Penparcau has 3,000 residents which

-is more than Lampeter and Aberaeron.

-It's a Welsh community and as Welsh

-as any village in Ceredigion.

-It has a church, a few shops, a post

-office, school and residential home.

-There's 800 children but 40% of them

-live beneath the poverty threshold.

-This was quite

-an underprivileged area.

-In the last few years, it has grown

-and people are proud of the area.

-Three years ago, Communities First

-of Aberystwyth and Penparcau...

-..finished the Tackling Poverty

-project across Wales.

-The rural areas missed out

-so six individuals from Penparcau...

-..chose to establish

-the Penparcau Community Forum.

-The Forum supports and co-ordinates

-an array of activities...

-..from speed checks to painting the

-memorial, to lectures and parties.

-The Forum was funded

-to consult the local residents...

-..to see what changes should be made

-to improve Penparcau.

-This has given us the mandate

-to apply for various grants...

-..and it has gone

-from strength to strength.

-Over 1 million has been spent

-on the area in the last three years.

-Penparcau is home to Pen Dinas,

-an important hillfort in Europe.

-The people of Penparcau also claim

-Tanybwlch Beach as their own.

-We've received funding

-from the county council...

-..to help with feasibility

-at Pen Dinas.

-We'll plant seeds with that money

-and who knows where it will take us!

-The Forum has huge plans

-for the future.

-We need a much larger centre

-to accommodate young families.

-We applied to the National Assembly

-and they gave us close to 500,000.

-The doors of this positive space

-will open at the end of next spring.

-The Forum is made up of volunteers

-and it's supported by volunteers.

-They all want to make a difference

-to the community.

-I've lived in Penparcau

-for many years.

-It's a wonderful place to live

-and it has improved over the years.

-People want to participate and this

-wasn't the case five years ago.

-There's been some great developments

-in the last three years.

-A year ago, this garden

-was nothing but waste land.

-It's nice to live in Penparcau now.

-You were in Edinburgh last night.

-I did my annual pilgrimage.

-There is so much talent there.

-There are artists in every genre.

-I would advise anyone to go and

-see some of the performances...
