-Elin meets a man from Llanfairpwll

-on Anglesey...

-..who recently travelled to Turkey

-for a hair transplant.

-The Six Nations is in full swing.

-Tonight, Rhodri Gomer meets

-the Wales Women Rugby Squad.

-Forget the men because the women

-also deserve some of our attention.

-They face Scotland on Sunday...

-..so I've come to hear

-about their preparations.

-My studio guest is a familiar face

-to the viewers of Hacio on S4C...

-..and she's just joined the team

-for Y Byd Ar Bedwar.

-It's the journalist,

-Is it in the car, on a traditional

-Saturday is World Radio Day,

-an event that's in its fourth year.

-Wales is awash

-with community radio stations...

-..so we sent Daf Wyn to

-spin some discs with the local DJs.

-Radio stems back

-over three centuries.

-It was relatively unused

-until the start of the 20th century.

-New technology

-and online broadcasts...

-..means thousands of DJs have their

-say and play music to suit everyone.

-In Wales, there's a host of stations

-that serve their communities...

-..such as the one at Tircoed

-near Swansea.

-Here's Huw Chiswell

-with Rhywbeth o'i Le.

-It started in 2007 as a station

-in Tircoed for Tircoed near Swansea.

-It's grown and serves Penllegaer,

-Llangennech, Pontarddulais...

-..and the M4 corridor from

-Port Talbot to Neath and Swansea.

-Hello to everyone in Patagonia!

-The initial aim of the station

-was to reach out to the community.

-In this day and age with the

-Internet, we can now go worldwide.

-We've got listeners in Patagonia,

-New Mexico, Australia and Spain.

-We're live from 6.00am until

-midnight and move to recordings.

-It's a 24-hour station

-so we don't stop.

-Radio Beca is a recent station

-that serves West Wales.

-It's a platform to enable people to

-create their own radio programme...

-..and get their voice heard

-in West Wales and further afield.

-They create a programme with a phone

-and we upload it to our website.

-"Next week at Theatr Felinfach,

-the Ceredigion YFC..."

-The YFC in Ceredigion

-had a great time with Radio Beca.

-It gave them experience

-in broadcasting.

-They had to do research and find

-guests for an hour-long programme.

-It was all during a public speaking

-competition so it was a busy day...

-..but they learnt so much.

-It's important to have something

-like Radio Beca.

-It shows people in West Wales that

-we can do it and speak our minds.

-Students at Aberystwyth

-offer an hour in Welsh on Bay Radio.

-I enjoy it and try to have guests

-every week to add something new...

-..and have a quiz with them

-so we really love it!

-I've never done anything

-like this before...

-..so was a bit nervous when Ashley

-asked me to be his co-presenter.

-Radio stations similar to ours

-are important to the community.

-It helps presenters to try

-something new and practice skills...

-..that would help you to progress

-in the industry.

-We move from university to school.

-At Rhyl, pupils at Ysgol Dewi Sant

-do some regular DJing.

-We come to the radio station every

-Tuesday and use the computer...

-..to make programmes on Audacity

-for the school website.

-We talk about various things and at

-Christmas we talked about presents.

-It was a lot of fun.

-We made our own jingle

-and I really enjoyed that.

-It's a lot of fun

-to make the programmes.

-Radio is a lot of fun

-and we enjoy doing it.

-On a Tuesday, I'm always waiting

-for the bell to ring...

-..so that I can go

-to the radio club.

-What sparked your interest

-in journalism?

-I went into this career

-straight from university.

-I got to work for Golwg.

-They are based in Lampeter.

-In May 2012, I was lucky enough

-to start with Hacio...

-..and I've now joined

-Y Byd Ar Bedwar.

-Next, 29-year-old Alwyn Jones from

-Anglesey is a student in Bangor.

-In recent years, his hair loss

-has caused him no end of worry...

-..so he travelled to Istanbul

-in Turkey for a hair transplant.

-Elin has been to find out more.

-You've been very brave, Alwyn and

-it's the only way to describe it.

-You've gone to great lengths

-to do something life-changing.

-Yes, I've been to Istanbul

-to undergo a hair transplant.

-I've wanted to do it ever since

-I started losing my hair at 21.

-I attempted to disguise it

-but decided to take the plunge...

-..so I flew out there on 15 January

-and returned home on 17 January.

-They extracted hair from the back

-of my scalp with a special drill.

-They drilled smalls holes

-and removed the hair follicles.

-They took 6,500 grafts

-in one session...

-It was like planting seeds

-and were squeezed into the holes.

-I was prescribed antibiotics

-for pain relief.

-Why did you want to do this and

-was it really affecting your life?

-I came out as a homosexual at 17

-and weighed about 20 stone.

-I lost nine stone

-and felt confident and happy.

-I was happy with the way I looked

-but then I started to lose my hair.

-I gradually started to revert

-to the way I felt before I came out.

-I lacked confidence and worried

-about what others thought of me.

-People told me to shave my head

-because they said it would suit me.

-Others said I resembled my father

-and grandfather who are both bald!

-I didn't want to turn 50

-with a bald head.

-I feel a lot better for doing it

-and a lot more confident.

-What does your family

-think about it?

-My family have been great

-and very supportive.

-Mam and Dad were worried about me

-travelling to Istanbul...

-..but I'd already made up my mind

-and am a very stubborn person!

-Everyone's been great and my father

-and grandfather are both fascinated.

-Dad said he'd like to do it

-so it must have worried him too.

-Dad and my brother can have

-a two-for-one next time!

-How is this going to change your

-mind now that you've had it done?

-It'll change it a lot and feel

-much better than I did at Christmas.

-I'd shave the sides and back weekly

-and blended it into the top.

-It's indescribable because

-I was really unhappy at the time.

-I haven't seen a hairline

-on my head for years.

-When the hair grows longer,

-what kind of hairstyle do you want?

-There's a few photos on my phone

-but I'm going to wait a year.

-If I recall, the back and sides

-are quite curly and like ringlets.

-I'll resemble the footballer,

-Messi!

-How disappointed were you with the

-result and performance in Ireland?

-I was more disappointed as we were

-confident having had a good start.

-The team was under pressure and did

-well but we didn't get the tries.

-You beat them a fortnight earlier

-so what went wrong this time?

-There was a lot of pressure and

-they won the championship last year.

-They are a good team

-with strong players.

-We scored points early on

-but couldn't keep the ball...

-..which is important

-in an international game...

-..and we couldn't cope

-with the pressure.

-It's important to put that

-behind you and focus on Sunday.

-After the game, the women were

-talking about facing Scotland.

-We've got a session tonight to learn

-Sian is currently the only female
