Hello, everyone! Welcome to The One Show with Alex Jones. And Matt | :00:21. | :00:25.
Baker. In the last couple of weeks, we have had some of the biggest | :00:26. | :00:29.
names from the biggest Hollywood films on the show. From John Boyega | :00:30. | :00:36.
and Orlando Bloom. To Kurt Russell, Chris Pratt and Woody Harrelson last | :00:37. | :00:40.
night. But this evening, we have the stars of no less than five Hollywood | :00:41. | :00:44.
blockbusters on the show. We are talking Dirty Dancing. We are | :00:45. | :00:54.
talking Rocky. Ghostbusters! Also Jaws and Star Wars. OK, it is their | :00:55. | :00:59.
version of the blockbusters, but we are excited nonetheless. Please | :01:00. | :01:03.
welcome Keith Lemon. And Paddy McGuinness! | :01:04. | :01:16.
Yes, me! We haven't got lots of extra audience, so extra topping is | :01:17. | :01:26.
good. Extra years -- eight years in the making, this product. Has it | :01:27. | :01:31.
been worth the wait? It has. We were told to keep this bit brief, so yes. | :01:32. | :01:37.
They said we could talk about more stuff later. Yes! How did you two | :01:38. | :01:48.
become friends? You have known each other for ages. We met on a Channel | :01:49. | :01:53.
4 music show about ten years ago, hosted by Steve Jones, called | :01:54. | :01:58.
Transmission. Sun you have a good memory. We really are in love. You | :01:59. | :02:04.
meet people within the industry and get on with them, but sometimes you | :02:05. | :02:07.
really get on with someone. We have a common love of alcohol. And film. | :02:08. | :02:18.
And it blossomed from there. We have been friends ever since. Yes. The | :02:19. | :02:24.
section where you can talk about it is coming up shortly. That light is | :02:25. | :02:29.
not bright enough. It is not bouncing off my head enough. Turn it | :02:30. | :02:34.
up a bit more. I looked at myself on the monitor like someone in the | :02:35. | :02:40.
audience, where they are looking up on Top Of The Pops. We will tweak | :02:41. | :02:48.
the lighting for you. I like your accent. Thanks! I like yours, Matt. | :02:49. | :03:03.
You are all Southerners to me. One thing bound to wipe the smile off | :03:04. | :03:10.
our faces here is the thought of having to reset a driving test. | :03:11. | :03:14.
There are new rules for the driving test coming to play later this year, | :03:15. | :03:19.
so we asked viewers Gordon and Lili Herbert, who are with us tonight, to | :03:20. | :03:23.
take large sections of their driving tests again for us. And they were | :03:24. | :03:30.
not happy. Anyone who has taken their driving | :03:31. | :03:34.
test will remember countless hours behind the wheel, perfecting that | :03:35. | :03:37.
dreaded reverse around the corner or the tricky 3-point turn. But that is | :03:38. | :03:42.
all set to change. The driver and vehicle standards agency have just | :03:43. | :03:46.
announced big modifications to future tests. They are bringing in | :03:47. | :03:49.
more of those modern everyday challenges that we face on our | :03:50. | :03:54.
roads. To help me test drive these new changes, we have drafted in the | :03:55. | :03:58.
help of father and daughter team Gordon and Lili Herbert. My dad is a | :03:59. | :04:02.
good driver. I don't know how you will do those manoeuvres with your | :04:03. | :04:06.
bad habits. 17-year-old Lili passed her test a few months ago with the | :04:07. | :04:10.
help of driving lessons from dad Gordon, who passed his test 25 years | :04:11. | :04:15.
ago. She drives too close to the car in front and breaks to last-minute | :04:16. | :04:20.
sometimes. So what are the changes to the driving test about? First, | :04:21. | :04:26.
the learner driver will be expected to independently drive for 20 | :04:27. | :04:30.
minutes. That is twice as long as in the current test. Next, they will | :04:31. | :04:34.
have to follow directions from a sat-nav rather than road signs. At | :04:35. | :04:40.
the end of the road, turn right. Manoeuvres such as reversing around | :04:41. | :04:43.
the corner will be replaced with more real-life scenarios, like | :04:44. | :04:47.
pulling into and reversing out of a parking bay. Finally, drivers will | :04:48. | :04:51.
be expected to safely demonstrate everyday skills while on the move, | :04:52. | :04:55.
like turning on their rear hitters or washing the windscreen. The | :04:56. | :05:00.
experts say all of this gives new drivers the skills to manage | :05:01. | :05:05.
modern-day distractions and improve road safety. It focuses on the high | :05:06. | :05:09.
risk area where most young people have their crashes, so they don't | :05:10. | :05:14.
crash so much inside roads, doing slow manoeuvres. We watch how they | :05:15. | :05:17.
can cope with major roundabouts, changing lanes, turning right across | :05:18. | :05:22.
traffic. This is as if you are doing a journey with someone watching you | :05:23. | :05:26.
drive. It is far more relaxed and far more real-life. That is the | :05:27. | :05:30.
theory, but how will it work in practice? Remember Gordon and Lili? | :05:31. | :05:34.
We asked them to try out the new changes in a special One Show | :05:35. | :05:38.
driving test. And our on-board cameras give us the chance to review | :05:39. | :05:44.
their skills afterwards. Right, you two? Want to find out how you did? | :05:45. | :05:53.
Better not lose. I will lose face. Lili is first behind the wheel. I | :05:54. | :06:03.
will be your assessor. I'm Rebecca. The reverse was a bit stiff. First | :06:04. | :06:09.
up, the sat-nav test. Follow the road to 300 yards. Remember, Lili | :06:10. | :06:15.
passed her test dummy four months ago and it didn't involve using a | :06:16. | :06:21.
sat-nav. Just have a look and work it out and see whether you get it | :06:22. | :06:26.
right. As I pulled out, it didn't pick up the entrance I was coming | :06:27. | :06:32.
out of. So it was the sat-nav's fault? As for turn right. I did OK. | :06:33. | :06:41.
Time for that new safety element of the test for Lili. Show me how you | :06:42. | :06:50.
would turn on the rear demister. You did well. But is the parking smooth? | :06:51. | :06:56.
I checked my mirrors, but I don't think I did it enough. And reverse | :06:57. | :07:02.
back out again, please. I probably didn't do so good on that. How long | :07:03. | :07:07.
have you been parking and reversing for? 30 years. Probably my worst | :07:08. | :07:14.
habit. At the end of both tests, what do our drivers think? It is | :07:15. | :07:20.
harder to use a sat-nav. Some of the easier manoeuvres have been taken | :07:21. | :07:24.
out, but definitely a better test. It is easier because it is more | :07:25. | :07:29.
relaxed. I think it is for the better. Time for the results. The | :07:30. | :07:35.
good news is, you both got your safety question correct. You both | :07:36. | :07:39.
know how to put on the heated rear windows, so well done. When it comes | :07:40. | :07:43.
to the parking and reversing, Lili, you failed. And Gordon, you failed | :07:44. | :07:50.
as well. But the independent driving/ sat-nav element, Gordon, | :07:51. | :07:56.
you passed. Lili, you failed that as well. I am not surprised! But you | :07:57. | :08:01.
are a lot older, with more experience. So it seems experience | :08:02. | :08:09.
won the day. So who is going to be driving? You drive, I will do the | :08:10. | :08:18.
sat-nav. Give them a round of applause! Unlucky for Lili, but you | :08:19. | :08:28.
both keep your licenses. Keith, you are interested. She looks nice. She | :08:29. | :08:36.
looked nice in the VT and in real life. Have you been on holiday? A | :08:37. | :08:46.
fake one, yeah. Nice colour, like a hot dog in a denim jacket. I like | :08:47. | :08:52.
hotdogs. I like your eyebrows. This is what he is like. Sorry. You were | :08:53. | :09:01.
interested in this. You asked when the new changes are coming in. They | :09:02. | :09:08.
come into effect on December four, 2017. Until then, the practical test | :09:09. | :09:13.
remains the same, but after that, we have these new changes. So people | :09:14. | :09:18.
will be rushing to pass that test. It is a big deal, because they | :09:19. | :09:23.
haven't made major changes before now. This is the most significant | :09:24. | :09:26.
change to the practical test in living memory. One change they made | :09:27. | :09:30.
was that you no longer had to start the car with the starting handle. | :09:31. | :09:34.
That is how far back it goes. The time when cars didn't have electric | :09:35. | :09:38.
starters, you have to demonstrate that you could start the car. And as | :09:39. | :09:41.
those cars were phased out, they dropped that from the test. The only | :09:42. | :09:46.
other significant change was in 1975, when they removed hand signals | :09:47. | :09:51.
from the test, although they are still in the Highway code. Isn't | :09:52. | :09:58.
that still important? So now you have to use a sat-nav? I think they | :09:59. | :10:03.
are dumbing it down. Young people watching the show now, I am going to | :10:04. | :10:10.
amaze the younger audience here now. Back in the day when I had a test at | :10:11. | :10:17.
school, we didn't use calculators. I can hear the Xbox dropping. You have | :10:18. | :10:24.
to use this thing called your brain back in the day. Now, you go into an | :10:25. | :10:29.
exam and the kids have calculators and iPads. Just learn it! Do you | :10:30. | :10:37.
think it is a sad indictment of the way society is going? I wouldn't go | :10:38. | :10:44.
that far. You like a hand signal, Keith. He does! | :10:45. | :10:56.
Like when you slow down and stick your hand out of the window. If they | :10:57. | :11:05.
have occurred on the back, it is important. When have you ever got a | :11:06. | :11:15.
trailer on the back? Keith, tell us about your first car. | :11:16. | :11:28.
Seamless, Matt! That is why you get the big bucks. In Keith and Paddy's | :11:29. | :11:43.
new show, they recreate their favourite characters from famous | :11:44. | :11:47.
movies. Before we see some of their interpretations... My first car was | :11:48. | :11:53.
black. It was a mini. I remember having a driving lesson with my | :11:54. | :11:59.
friend and his odd character was giving me the lesson. He was | :12:00. | :12:02.
laughing so much that he put a cardboard box on his head. I | :12:03. | :12:06.
couldn't tell what he was saying. That is true. I passed the second | :12:07. | :12:16.
time. That was an interesting story, wasn't it? Before we see some of | :12:17. | :12:22.
your interpretations, let's look at what the people of Britain did with | :12:23. | :12:31.
their interpretations. Here's looking at you, kid. Hollywood has | :12:32. | :12:39.
delivered countless iconic and memorable lines, words that started | :12:40. | :12:43.
off on the pages of a script that have become part of our everyday | :12:44. | :12:48.
conversations. But what are our most memorable lines? I would go with the | :12:49. | :12:53.
Wizard of Oz and there's no place like home. There's no place like | :12:54. | :12:58.
home. I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love | :12:59. | :13:04.
her. Get to the chapel now! To infinity and beyond. This is Sparta! | :13:05. | :13:15.
That was great delivery! Do you know 300? Brett, what shall I do? | :13:16. | :13:27.
Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. Have you ever said it? Yeah, | :13:28. | :13:34.
to him! One of my favourites is some like it hot. It's the last line in | :13:35. | :13:42.
the movie. You don't understand! I'm a man! Well, nobody's perfect. | :13:43. | :13:55.
Brilliant. She's at the door. Never let go. I will never let go, Jack. | :13:56. | :14:05.
Jack, I will never let go! Have you got a favourite one-liner from a | :14:06. | :14:10.
movie? Yes. From the movie Dirty Dancing. Nobody puts Baby in the | :14:11. | :14:24.
corner. Look what you've got here. I heard you want to stay in the | :14:25. | :14:29.
jungle. I can fix it for you. I will do anything to stay in the jungle. | :14:30. | :14:35.
# I'm the king of the swingers, the jungle VIP. | :14:36. | :14:38.
# I've reached the stock and had to stop and that's what's bothering me. | :14:39. | :14:45.
# I want to be like you. # You see it's true! | :14:46. | :14:47.
# And eight like me! APPLAUSE | :14:48. | :15:02.
Sterling performances. We did the Dirty Dancing lift on the | :15:03. | :15:06.
night of our wedding but I did not tell my husband and I ran and he was | :15:07. | :15:11.
holding a glass. What did he think he was lifting? You have done the | :15:12. | :15:18.
lift. You have the Keith Paddy Picture Show and you have really | :15:19. | :15:23.
made some of your favourite films. I thought he would ruin Dirty Dancing | :15:24. | :15:27.
because it is one of my favourites but I think you sort of made it | :15:28. | :15:28.
better. Paddy, you are getting to play | :15:29. | :15:42.
Patrick Swayze's role. How did you prepare? I watched the film and | :15:43. | :15:47.
studied him closely and I noticed he shakes his head a lot. That's my | :15:48. | :15:57.
cousin and his partner, they are the professional dancers. They look | :15:58. | :16:08.
great together. That is genius. The beer drinking | :16:09. | :16:16.
goes to another level. Dirty Dancing is a classic. We have all watched | :16:17. | :16:21.
it. When you watch them back when we wondered which films to do, | :16:22. | :16:29.
literally he is very angry. All of this drinking quickly and shaking | :16:30. | :16:33.
his head. She is just trying to help them. There we go. It is hilarious. | :16:34. | :16:46.
It really is. It is done with such affection. That is what brought us | :16:47. | :16:53.
together, that film because we did it on Let's Dance for Comic Relief. | :16:54. | :16:58.
We did the whole dance and rehearsed for days and I did not like it. And | :16:59. | :17:04.
I said, how come we have not done a show together? Rewrote a half-hour | :17:05. | :17:08.
version of Dirty Dancing and none of that script is in this one. Our | :17:09. | :17:15.
references were old. It was eight years ago. It took that long to get | :17:16. | :17:23.
together and do it. When we were on set at Pinewood, like James Bond, | :17:24. | :17:29.
and Star Wars, it was like... We love films. We are so passionate. It | :17:30. | :17:36.
was amazing to be involved. We kept saying, hey, we are doing Rocky. I | :17:37. | :17:42.
do not have a favourable one of my favourite films was Return Of The | :17:43. | :17:54.
Jedi. . When I did it on the set of the Ewok village, I cried. Light | :17:55. | :18:02.
sabre fighting. Did you do their bit by bit, were you jumping around the | :18:03. | :18:07.
scenes? We have the films on our phones and did it as closely as we | :18:08. | :18:12.
could. His American accent is amazing. It will blow you away. He | :18:13. | :18:23.
is doing it now! I quickly discovered I am claustrophobic. Have | :18:24. | :18:31.
you ever worn a prosthetic? Once they are armed, they are on. I have | :18:32. | :18:38.
some on now. He loves them. He cannot get enough of it. There is | :18:39. | :18:43.
something not right. It is exciting. What is exciting about not being | :18:44. | :18:51.
able to breathe? They put the prostatic summary and three hours I | :18:52. | :18:55.
was in make up and I went to the toilet and someone came up to me and | :18:56. | :19:00.
said, are you all right? I scratched my face, I had it on, I could not | :19:01. | :19:07.
feel my skin, I panicked. Three hours, I ripped it off. I walked | :19:08. | :19:11.
back in and they said, are you all right? Then I got worse. Even | :19:12. | :19:20.
dressing up as C-3PO, it freaked me out. You said, I am going to do this | :19:21. | :19:26.
with my arms but the suit only enable you to do this with your | :19:27. | :19:33.
arms. It was grim. It was worth it. It is hysterical. The people you | :19:34. | :19:41.
have involved did it. We purposely went for people like Stephen | :19:42. | :19:45.
Tomkinson, Anna Friel, who you do not see doing these kinds of things. | :19:46. | :19:51.
Actors? Proper actors. Stephen Tomkinson came on in Jaws and would | :19:52. | :19:58.
do long monologues. What was he in Jaws? Not these sharks? I am the | :19:59. | :20:02.
shark. I like not being able to breed. He loves it. From this | :20:03. | :20:10.
Saturday there is one every week? Dirty Dancing this week and I think | :20:11. | :20:14.
Ghostbusters next week. With Robbie Williams. I have seen the Dirty | :20:15. | :20:22.
Dancing one, it is hilarious. I cannot wait to see the rest. For | :20:23. | :20:28.
anyone decorating at the weekend, they will relate to this. At a David | :20:29. | :20:34.
Hockaday exhibition at Tate Britain, a woman took a colour swatch so she | :20:35. | :20:39.
could identify the exact shade of blue. It was not just blue, it was | :20:40. | :20:45.
between Pearl Ashes and Jazz Cafe blue. | :20:46. | :20:55.
Paint colours, no longer can you walk into a shop and simply ask for | :20:56. | :21:01.
blue pain. Our macro one brand there are over 150 name combinations for | :21:02. | :21:10.
blue, such as lunar landscape, even cuddled. Is it a marketing field | :21:11. | :21:20.
day? I am about to paint the town red and find out what people think. | :21:21. | :21:26.
Do paint colours annoy you? They are ridiculous, they do not look like | :21:27. | :21:29.
anything they are called. What is this? Pink. Ross breed. Pink Lady. . | :21:30. | :21:37.
It is a pink colour. I don't know about that. Who comes | :21:38. | :21:59.
up with these names and how do they do it? Research suggests the | :22:00. | :22:06.
elaborate colour naming started with these crayons, who in 1903 released | :22:07. | :22:13.
a box of standard colour names. By 1949, they had a host of new names | :22:14. | :22:21.
including Thistle, Cornflour. We are at one of the fastest-growing paint | :22:22. | :22:27.
companies in the UK who provide paid to for London red buses and also | :22:28. | :22:33.
produced paint for homes. Their HQ is in Reading where their colour | :22:34. | :22:38.
boffins create colours and more importantly named them. We have just | :22:39. | :22:46.
under 2000 here. 2000. Some of the names are flamboyant. They are and | :22:47. | :22:52.
that is part of what we wanted, to create names people would look at | :22:53. | :22:57.
and it would make them laugh, or say they do not like that, any emotional | :22:58. | :23:01.
connection to the colours that will encourage them to spend more time | :23:02. | :23:05.
looking at colours, thinking about what this could mean to them in | :23:06. | :23:10.
their homes and we worked hard to ensure we have lovely and exciting | :23:11. | :23:14.
names. How do you go about finding a name? It took a group of us a long | :23:15. | :23:22.
time, for a few weeks we carried notebooks and wrote down ideas | :23:23. | :23:26.
around what we saw outside, writing down saying is that people like. We | :23:27. | :23:31.
had a colour expert allocate the right names to the right colours. It | :23:32. | :23:38.
was fun and a lot of the names have great meanings. Jane and the team | :23:39. | :23:42.
can create any colour paint you desire as long as you have an | :23:43. | :23:46.
example, by scanning it through the system and finding big correct | :23:47. | :23:53.
pigment to mix. I have my colour, this green notebook. I will give it | :23:54. | :23:58.
to James to create the paint. The thing that is missing is the perfect | :23:59. | :24:05.
name. Mark Wentworth has studied colour for almost 30 years and is | :24:06. | :24:09.
practising as a colour specialists. It is about evoking emotions. The | :24:10. | :24:15.
descriptive words have to evocation really or image in some on's mind. | :24:16. | :24:25.
Yellow, for me, was like the caffeine of the spectrum so you | :24:26. | :24:30.
would not name something Lullaby Yellow. Whether it is to keep | :24:31. | :24:37.
attention, ignite imagination, paint names have a purpose. This is | :24:38. | :24:43.
Angelica's Paradise. What do you reckon? I will leave it to the | :24:44. | :24:48.
experts. We want you to come up... The fun | :24:49. | :24:59.
continues. It is your fault Alex. You want us to do this and we do not | :25:00. | :25:03.
know what we are talking about. Colours. In the film a man said to | :25:04. | :25:10.
come up with the perfect name you have to be in tune with what you can | :25:11. | :25:14.
imagine and what the colour makes you feel. With that in mind that | :25:15. | :25:26.
that -- with that in mind... . Is this man married? Let's carry on. | :25:27. | :25:33.
Look at the first. We have gone through the keyhole! Days? What name | :25:34. | :25:48.
would you give this colour? Derek. It is saying Derek to me. Is it | :25:49. | :25:56.
brown? Is this a trick question? It is brown, isn't it? Elephante. I | :25:57. | :26:12.
don't know what they want. I would class that as cream. It is grey. | :26:13. | :26:24.
That is never great. It is grey! It is called Dead Salmon. I can see | :26:25. | :26:35.
that. I swear to god... I almost swore on live television men. Who | :26:36. | :26:42.
doesn't want Dead Salmon all over your walls? Let's go to the orange | :26:43. | :26:49.
colour. Liver. That is definitely David Dickinson. Almost right. | :26:50. | :27:04.
Really? It is Keith's Tan. That is according to the company that did | :27:05. | :27:07.
the paint. They made it especially for you. Keith's Tan. | :27:08. | :27:14.
APPLAUSE And so that you do not feel left | :27:15. | :27:19.
out, Paddy. Let The Paint See The Pot. If you were to paint that at | :27:20. | :27:27.
home, can you paint a picture of your house at home? You go through | :27:28. | :27:34.
so many keyholes. I would say it is quite neutral, so that I can add | :27:35. | :27:39.
jazzy things that do not look out of place that might be brightly | :27:40. | :27:43.
coloured. At the moment I have a painting in my whole way done by | :27:44. | :27:47.
Robbie Williams of Ken Livingstone. It is not a joke. You asked me a | :27:48. | :27:53.
question. But it has a swear word. It says no SHRIEKS you, Ken. I had | :27:54. | :28:11.
to tell Robbie I stuck a sticker on the painting. Because young people | :28:12. | :28:18.
come to the house, I had to put no fun, Ken. Take Me Out, there was | :28:19. | :28:26.
another wedding. Congratulations to Beckie and Adam. | :28:27. | :28:31.
APPLAUSE There have been six weddings. Did | :28:32. | :28:38.
you go? No. That is all we have time for. I tell you what I am excited | :28:39. | :28:44.
about, Blind Date is coming back. Paul O'Grady. I am glad he is doing | :28:45. | :28:51.
it. If it were anyone else, it would not have worked. We have to thank | :28:52. | :28:53.
you. APPLAUSE | :28:54. | :28:54.
