and my search to find the UK's top young street dance crews.

Your ultimate street dance experience

Today's four crews will need to dance like there's no tomorrow

to win over our judges and secure a place in the semifinals.

The benchmark is ridiculously high.

Our crews are battling to be crowned Alesha's Street Dance Stars 2012,

and take home this glittering trophy.

I'm Turbo. If you don't know who I am, where have you been?

I've worked with artists such as Will Smith, Madonna...

What I love about street dance is how you tell a story

through your movements and creativity.

As a judge on the show, I'm going to be looking for energy, fire,

performance and charisma and that teamwork.

What I'm going to bring to the panel as a judge is fun, excitement,

but also I'm going to give you constructive criticism to help

the dancers improve.

This is the important bit.

The judges will score crews on technique,

choreography and showmanship.

The nine crews from the qualifiers with the highest scores

will go through to the semifinals.

In a tie-break, head judge Dwayne will the side to go through.

Kicking off the show today, it's a crew you may recognise

as they got down to the final 15 last time.

Their motto is, "when you say 'Beat', I say, 'Breakers.'" Beat...

Last year, we got through to the heats,

and we're hoping the judges think we've improved since last year.

The new things we're bringing this year is technique, style and Jordan.

Loving you on the side there, OK? It takes a lot of strength.

Some people don't know about it.

It takes a lot of strength to hold your body up and spin in a circle

like a washing machine and hold it there, OK? Very, very good.

CHEERING Little bit of criticism.

There are some routines that could've been a bit tighter, a bit cleaner.

Some of you were throwing moves away,

especially when it comes from the wrist downwards.

You can clean those up a little bit.

You made a little mistake at the end of the flip.

But, I like the way you thought, "OK, hoi, boom, land it."

And you just stay on the floor and style it up. No-one knows, OK?

there was a lot of drama in your performance.

Hi, Beat Breakers. I remember you guys from before, and again,

you've stepped up a level, and I'm happy about that.

I'm really happy about that.

For me, when it was the locking at the beginning, it gave me chills,

cos you'd catch the "ding-a-ling, ow!" and that stuff.

And I loved that. It's the little detailed bits I love.

Just for me, when you mix the routines together,

try and blend them so they all link,

cos it just went from one track into another.

Other than that, I really enjoyed it.

is their youngest, smallest member, Lauren.

from across the qualifiers will be awarded a place in the semifinals.

And it's a serious make-or-break situation.

This next crew are a bunch of likely lads who say

they're big in the game.

They believe in a strong foundation

and thorough understanding of street dance.

From Essex, it's The Gentz!

We're like one big family. It helps when we go on stage.

We know each other very well. We have good banter. It's a lot of fun.

We're called the Gentz cos we're slick and laid back

and we want the judges to remember our moves and our style.

Since we found out we got through to the qualifier, we've been

rehearsing for two months twice a week so hopefully, it pays off.

In the group, we've got a celebrity lookalike.

A bit of a ladies' man, gets all the girls. Have a guess.

It was all smooth and slick.
