Hello, I'm Andy and I work in a dinosaur gallery

0:01:150:01:18

at the National Museum.

0:01:180:01:21

Hatty's working on a brand-new displays today,

0:01:210:01:24

all about a dinosaur called Allosaurus.

0:01:240:01:26

I can't wait to see it. She's asked me to bring her this bag of...

0:01:260:01:30

actually, I don't know what it is...let's find out.

0:01:300:01:34

What is that?

0:01:430:01:45

It looks a bit like snow.

0:01:450:01:47

It's not snow, it's salt.

0:01:470:01:51

Oh, salt! Well, there's a lot of it!

0:01:510:01:54

It's what's called a salt flat, where the sea dries up

0:01:540:01:57

and only salt is left.

0:01:570:01:59

Ah, it looks amazing, it looks a bit like the surface of the moon!

0:01:590:02:03

You actually find them in deserts all over the world

0:02:030:02:07

and in a few of them, you can find something really special.

0:02:070:02:12

Wow, what's this?

0:02:120:02:15

This is the footprint of an Allosaurus.

0:02:150:02:19

A fierce dinosaur that, occasionally,

0:02:190:02:22

crossed the salt flats of North America.

0:02:220:02:26

That's where I found this footprint.

0:02:260:02:28

What do you think?

0:02:290:02:31

I think it's got pretty big feet!

0:02:310:02:33

You would, too, if you were five-metres high.

0:02:330:02:36

five-metres high? That's like the size of a giraffe!

0:02:360:02:40

And weighed almost a tonne and a half.

0:02:400:02:43

Almost as much as a car!

0:02:430:02:45

That's why Allosaurus was scary.

0:02:450:02:48

By hunting in packs, they could bring down plant-eating

0:02:480:02:51

dinosaurs that were even bigger than they were.

0:02:510:02:55

THEY GROWL

0:02:550:02:58

Hatty, you seem to know a lot about Allosaurus.

0:02:580:03:01

That's because so many Allosaurus fossils have been found.

0:03:010:03:04

More than any other big, hunting dinosaur.

0:03:040:03:07

So, scientists have been able to learn an awful lot about them.

0:03:070:03:11

Really? So, are you going to put anything around this footprint?

0:03:110:03:15

-Looks a little bit lonely.

-Yes, I was going to add the salt,

0:03:150:03:19

to make it look like it's sitting in a salt flat.

0:03:190:03:21

-Salt, that's what's in the bag!

-Yes, thanks for bringing it.

0:03:210:03:25

Could you pour the salt all over? I really want it covered.

0:03:250:03:29

Right.

0:03:290:03:31

OK...oh!

0:03:310:03:35

This is a funny-coloured salt.

0:03:350:03:37

HE SNEEZES

0:03:370:03:39

That's not salt, that's...

0:03:400:03:43

-SHE SNEEZES

-..pepper!

-Oh, no!

0:03:430:03:45

-Someone's delivered the wrong bag.

-HE SNEEZES

0:03:450:03:48

What are we going to do? The museum opens soon.

0:03:480:03:51

-We can't have a room full of...

-SHE SNEEZES

0:03:510:03:54

..sneezing children!

0:03:540:03:56

-Maybe I could call...

-SHE SNEEZES

0:03:560:03:58

..the delivery company or see if there's any in the...

0:03:580:04:01

-THEY BOTH SNEEZE

-Cupboard?

-..cafe.

0:04:010:04:05

Don't worry about it, Hatty, I'll try and sort it out.

0:04:050:04:08

But there's no...time.

0:04:080:04:14

SHE SNEEZES

0:04:150:04:17

CLOCK BELL RINGS

0:04:170:04:20

DINOSAUR SQUAWKS

0:04:220:04:25

I'll make time!

0:04:270:04:28

-Oh, thanks, Andy! I knew I could count on you.

-Always!

0:04:280:04:34

SHE SNEEZES

0:04:340:04:36

You know what this means? It's time to go on a dinosaur adventure!

0:04:380:04:42

-HE SNEEZES

-Sorry!

0:04:420:04:44

Right, waistcoat, gismo, hat

0:04:530:04:57

and last, but not least, Hatty's backpack!

0:04:570:05:00

To the time of Allosaurus!

0:05:170:05:20

I made it!

0:05:520:05:54

I've travelled back in time 145 million years,

0:05:540:05:57

to the time of Allosaurus!

0:05:570:06:00

Wow...and there's one now!

0:06:000:06:02

He seems to be more interested in that poo down there, than me.

0:06:060:06:10

ALLOSAURUS SHRIEKS

0:06:140:06:18

What's he doing?

0:06:180:06:20

ALLOSAURUS ROARS

0:06:220:06:25

That's the call it makes when there's another Allosaurus nearby.

0:06:260:06:30

ALLOSAURUS ROARS

0:06:350:06:37

And there it is.

0:06:380:06:40

Oh, he looks a lot bigger than he does.

0:06:430:06:46

Uh-oh, be careful!

0:06:460:06:47

ALLOSAURUS ROARS

0:06:500:06:52

I think he's trying to scare him off.

0:06:520:06:54

He's not giving up.

0:06:570:06:59

I'd watch out!

0:06:590:07:01

Ooh!

0:07:130:07:15

That must have hurt!

0:07:170:07:19

THEY ROAR AND SHRIEK

0:07:190:07:21

Where's he off to?

0:07:210:07:23

Wait for me.

0:07:260:07:28

I'm going to follow him, he might lead me to some salt flats.

0:07:300:07:33

We're not going to get very far at this speed!

0:07:540:07:57

Huh? Why's he limping?

0:08:130:08:15

Oh, of course, poor thing, he must have hurt himself in the fight.

0:08:150:08:20

Oh, no...wait a minute.

0:08:240:08:26

That's why he's limping, he's got a thorn stuck in his foot.

0:08:270:08:32

If he lets me get close enough, I can probably help him.

0:08:360:08:40

OK, easy...just trying to help.

0:08:430:08:45

There we go. How's that?

0:08:520:08:55

It might be sore for a while, but it should get better soon.

0:08:570:09:01

Oh...my feet are feeling pretty sore too. I could do with a lift.

0:09:010:09:06

Thank goodness his foot is better!

0:09:130:09:16

And look what we found!

0:09:180:09:20

A whole herd of Diplodocus.

0:09:200:09:24

Look at them swishing their tails around.

0:09:240:09:27

THEY BELLOW

0:09:290:09:32

Uh-oh, it looks like the Allosaurus is back...with a friend.

0:09:330:09:38

Erm, excuse me, erm, Allosaurus, could you put me down at all?

0:09:390:09:44

Wow...slow down! Hang on!

0:09:460:09:49

Stop!

0:09:520:09:54

Wow!... Whey!... Argh!

0:09:540:09:57

Where do you think you're going?

0:09:570:09:59

One thing's for sure, his foot's better.

0:09:590:10:02

Wow...oh...huh!

0:10:020:10:06

Mind that tail!

0:10:060:10:09

And the head!

0:10:090:10:11

Argh!

0:10:110:10:13

Oh...ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

0:10:130:10:15

Watch out for that tail.

0:10:160:10:19

Hoo-hoo!

0:10:210:10:23

Ouch!

0:10:280:10:30

HE GROANS

0:10:310:10:33

I might have lost my ride, but I found the salt for Hatty's display!

0:10:370:10:43

CLOCK BELL RINGS

0:10:490:10:51

The clock...I've got to get back to the museum before it opens

0:10:510:10:55

and the clock is miles away.

0:10:550:10:57

Hatty's backpack, it's always full of useful things.

0:10:590:11:02

What's this?

0:11:050:11:07

It looks like a kite.

0:11:080:11:10

How's that going to help me here.

0:11:100:11:13

Unless...

0:11:160:11:18

Woo-hoo-hoo!

0:11:210:11:23

Ha-ha-ha! Wow!

0:11:290:11:33

This is incredible, I can see everything up here.

0:11:330:11:36

Wow!

0:11:360:11:38

The clock.

0:11:400:11:41

Time to head back.

0:11:460:11:49

CLOCK BELL RINGS

0:12:310:12:34

This is the footprint of one of the greatest hunters of them all,

0:13:090:13:13

an Allosaurus.

0:13:130:13:15

I found its footprint in the salt flats of North America.

0:13:150:13:19

Just near the footprints of some huge Diplodocus.

0:13:190:13:23

From the looks of it, they were travelling quite fast.

0:13:230:13:27

(They weren't the only ones!)

0:13:270:13:28

But we don't need to, so take your time and have a good look around.

0:13:280:13:33

Thanks, Andy!

0:13:340:13:36

I don't know how you did it, but that salt flat looks brilliant!

0:13:360:13:40

Almost as if you'd been there yourself.

0:13:400:13:44

Ssh!

0:13:490:13:51

See you next time.
