Hello, I'm Andy, and I work here at Pickles Animal Park,

it's my job to look after all the animals.

Like, Alan, the armadillo, here.

Oh, oh, I'm so excited to go in to my new tunnel, Andy.

I've put a new tunnel down for Alan to play in.

-Are you ready, Alan?

-Oh, oh, here we go!

Oh, brilliant.

Now, Alan doesn't live on his own here,

he shares his house with these guys,

Iggy the iguana and all of his friends.

You all right, guys?

Yeah, yeah, I'm fine, I'm just waiting for the food.

I've got you some grated carrot, some fresh dandelions

and a mixture of leaves, your favourite.

There we go.

'Come in, Andy,

'Andy, are you there? Over.'

Hello, Mr Pickles, Andy here, over.

'I was walking through the butterfly house,

'and I noticed that they're running low on flowers,

'without flowers they've got no nectar to drink,

'could you collect some on your way over? Over.'

Oh, this is my latest invention.

It's my super whiffer scratch and sniffer.

You just scratch away any of the pictures like, um,

that one with the pink custard on it, and breathe in.

And it blocks out the smell of nasty pongs.

What have you been doing?

I've been to Alan the armadillo's enclosure

to feed him and Iggy the iguana.

An armadillo and an iguana in the same enclosure?

-Yeah, iguanas are herbivores, which means they only eat plants.

-Oh.

Armadillos love eating insects, so they can live alongside each other.

I didn't realise that different animals live together.

Plenty of animals live together quite happily in the park.

You've got giraffes and zebras, iguanas and armadillos, me and you.

In the wild, there are some animals that not only live together,

-but they help each other too.

-Really?

In the magical islands of the Galapagos,

there is this beautiful bird that has a wonderful relationship

with one of the oldest living animals on earth.

Oh! I know this one.

Oh, Mr Pickles!

No, not Mr Pickles,

the animal I'm thinking of is a giant tortoise,

and it can live to be over 150 years old.

Wow, that is old.

And when he needs a clean, he doesn't do it himself.

He gets his friend, the finch, to clean him instead.

Birds cleaning tortoises?

Oh, I'd love to see that.

You know what this sounds like, don't you?

We get to see finches cleaning tortoises.

So, where to, Andy?

The Galapagos islands, off the coast of South America,

that is where we'll find out giant tortoises.

Then Galapagos, here we come.

Go, cat nav, go! Yeah!

Woa-ooooh!

Aha, I think that's what we're looking for.

Kip, can you get these tracks up on the cat nav?

Sure, Andy.

Yes, that's it,

tortoise trails made over thousands of years.

-Come on, let's land.

Perfect.

Now let's go and find those giant tortoises.

Um, did you just say giant tortoises?

That's right, the Galapagos has the biggest tortoises in the world.

You should see them, they're huge.

After all, if one of these volcanoes does blow up,

I should be able to come and rescue you.

Good idea, I guess.

Yeah, but you go ahead and find the giant tortoises

and the finches,

Well, I followed the old trails that the tortoises use,

but I can't understand it, I can't see any giant tortoises anywhere.

I think I'm going to rest for a second.

Now, this is what you call a giant tortoise.

Wow, look at the size of him.

There are loads of tortoises here.

I'd love to look around,

but the gases coming from underground

makes it smell like rotten eggs, oof.

Why don't you try my super whiffer scratch and sniffer,

that should cut out the smell.

OK, so, I choose something I like the smell of,

oh, they smell delicious.

Now, all I have to do is do something about this heat.

But that's just the way these tortoises like it.

Ahem, anyway,

these guys are cold blooded, to warm themselves up they've come here.

Ooh, where there's hot volcanic rock and lots of steam.

Remember, what I really want to show you

are tortoises being cleaned by finches.

For that, we need to find somewhere with a bit more vegetation.

Um.

Aha.

Ooh.

Like down there, perhaps.

Just so I don't scare the birds, size of a Galapagos finch.

Here goes.

Right, let's see where he takes us.

Um...

Oh, would you look at that view.

Onward, my good man, sorry, tortoise.

Forward we go.

Ah, I definitely recommend travelling by shell.

This is exactly what I was hoping for.

Lots of lovely tortoises

and lots of lovely, green grass for them to eat.

Oh, look, there's a finch now!

Woah, ooh, eee!

Now it's time to show you how the finches help the tortoises.

First, he stands in front of the tortoise to attract his attention.

Then, when the tortoise is ready, he lifts himself up.

Come on, that's it.

And waits for the finch to get rid of all his bugs.

Now everyone's a winner, the finch gets a meal

and the tortoise has a good clean.

Look at that!

Hey, how does that feel? Oh, oh.

Hang on a minute, I've seen something underneath that tortoise

that's going to come in very handy.

It's a flower, ah, this will be perfect for the butterfly house.
