I'm Ricky,

0:00:030:00:04

I live in Bristol.

0:00:040:00:05

By day, I work as an animator,

0:00:050:00:07

which is lucky cos I love art.

0:00:070:00:10

I live for art.

0:00:100:00:11

I even dream of art.

0:00:110:00:13

I draw...

0:00:130:00:15

..I paint...

0:00:150:00:16

..I make things!

0:00:180:00:19

I hang out with my mates,

0:00:200:00:23

-Gavin, Michelle and Sarah.

-SARAH SCREAMS

0:00:230:00:26

Most importantly, I make ninja moves.

0:00:260:00:29

-Some people call me the...

-# Art Ninja. #

0:00:290:00:33

Today, I'll show you how to make

0:00:330:00:35

-an invisible dog collar...

-INVISIBLE DOGS GROWL

0:00:350:00:39

..turn your pets into people,

0:00:390:00:41

and follow your nose on the streets

0:00:410:00:43

by making sat nav art.

0:00:430:00:46

Because today it's...

0:00:460:00:48

DOG BARKS

0:00:520:00:56

Who needs an alarm clock when you've got an alarm dog?

0:00:560:00:59

It's certainly a new day and time to get my ninja on.

0:01:010:01:05

And my clothes.

0:01:070:01:08

-DOG BARKS

-I wish I could have my own pet.

0:01:310:01:34

I was never allowed animals as a kid.

0:01:340:01:36

I'm not allowed animals in the flat now.

0:01:360:01:38

Dad comes over and he's super allergic to everything.

0:01:380:01:41

-HE SNEEZES

-Makes me sad.

0:01:410:01:44

I may not be allowed animals in the flat,

0:01:440:01:46

but I could make my own fake Fido.

0:01:460:01:49

# Art Ninja. #

0:01:490:01:50

The Art Ninja fake Fido invisible dog collar!

0:01:500:01:54

I've got some strips of cardboard down here.

0:01:550:01:58

I'm going to use these to make a collar.

0:01:580:02:00

So I need to roll them round a little bit.

0:02:000:02:03

Good thing about using corrugated cardboard,

0:02:030:02:05

is it makes a nice gradual curve.

0:02:050:02:07

Going to sticky tape the two ends together.

0:02:090:02:11

And now these strips, I'm going use to make the edges.

0:02:140:02:16

Now they're all sticky, I'm going to start wrapping them

0:02:190:02:21

around the top and the bottom of the collar.

0:02:210:02:23

Any excess, just snip it off.

0:02:240:02:26

This is the bare bones of the collar.

0:02:320:02:35

I'm now going to cover it in a layer of paper mache.

0:02:350:02:37

So I've got some PVA glue and water mix.

0:02:380:02:40

Two parts glue, one part water.

0:02:400:02:42

And I've got some white tissue paper here.

0:02:420:02:44

It's just what I had lying around.

0:02:440:02:46

It's quite light though and that'll come in handy later.

0:02:460:02:48

You can just use plain old newspaper or scraps of paper.

0:02:480:02:51

Now I'm using paper mache,

0:02:540:02:55

because it makes it easier to paint on afterwards,

0:02:550:02:58

and it gives it a nice smooth finish.

0:02:580:03:00

With all this glue and paper on it,

0:03:030:03:04

it does go quite floppy.

0:03:040:03:06

But when it dries, it'll be rigid.

0:03:060:03:08

So if you're doing this,

0:03:080:03:09

you have to make sure it dries perfectly round and flat.

0:03:090:03:12

But not me, I've got ninja skills!

0:03:120:03:15

Ah, yeah.

0:03:150:03:17

Nice and dry.

0:03:170:03:18

Good bit of ninja-ing.

0:03:180:03:19

Now I've got to paint it.

0:03:190:03:21

I've got some pre-mixed purple paint here.

0:03:210:03:23

If you're painting yours at home,

0:03:280:03:30

make sure you put some newspaper down.

0:03:300:03:31

A bit here and there.

0:03:330:03:35

Right, well, do you want to watch paint dry?

0:03:350:03:38

Ninja's don't.

0:03:380:03:39

There we are.

0:03:400:03:42

Perfect.

0:03:420:03:43

Now I'm going to poke a couple of holes through it,

0:03:430:03:45

cos we need to attach our lead later.

0:03:450:03:47

And I'm going to do that with a bit of modelling clay behind it,

0:03:470:03:50

and a sharp pencil.

0:03:500:03:51

One hole...

0:03:510:03:53

two holes.

0:03:530:03:54

Now I'm going to give it a little bit of bling...

0:03:550:03:58

..with some gold paint.

0:03:580:03:59

Just taking my time here,

0:04:030:04:05

cos I don't want to get any gold on this purple band here.

0:04:050:04:09

My fake dog better like this!

0:04:090:04:11

There we are.

0:04:140:04:15

But what's a collar without a lead?

0:04:150:04:18

I've got myself a length of garden wire.

0:04:180:04:20

That's this thick green stuff.

0:04:220:04:24

And this is good because it's quite malleable,

0:04:240:04:26

you can bend it around, but it can hold some weight.

0:04:260:04:28

And it needs to be able to hold the weight of the collar.

0:04:280:04:30

Now we're going to slot it through those holes.

0:04:300:04:33

And then go back through the other one.

0:04:340:04:36

On the other side there, so twist them round one another.

0:04:390:04:42

And be careful here, just to make

0:04:430:04:45

sure you don't hurt your hands.

0:04:450:04:47

OK, that's looking good.

0:04:470:04:49

Now you need a handle,

0:04:490:04:50

so I'm just going to loop over the end

0:04:500:04:52

and twist that against itself as well.

0:04:520:04:54

So that's the handle.

0:04:560:04:58

But it could do with a couple of finishing touches.

0:04:580:05:00

-Whoa, Fido!

-INVISIBLE DOG BARKS AND GROWLS

0:05:000:05:03

Must be a ninja dog.

0:05:030:05:05

Look at those finishing touches.

0:05:050:05:07

We've got these nice studs going round the band.

0:05:070:05:10

We've got a little name badge there.

0:05:100:05:11

'Mine's called Fido, but how about Petunia, Sausage...'

0:05:110:05:14

Or any other lovely name.

0:05:140:05:17

And then I've put some material around the wire,

0:05:170:05:20

and that's just so it looks more like a lead.

0:05:200:05:22

If you want a smaller, imaginary dog

0:05:220:05:24

you can make one, like this.

0:05:240:05:25

The fake Fido dog collar.

0:05:300:05:32

Fetch the right materials and make one today.

0:05:320:05:34

-INVISIBLE DOG BREAKS WIND

-Eurgh!

0:05:360:05:39

HE SNIFFS

0:05:390:05:40

Left an imaginary present on the desk. Eurgh!

0:05:400:05:43

I can always pretend it's not there.

0:05:430:05:45

Come on, guys, walkies!

0:05:450:05:47

Whoa!

0:05:470:05:48

-Whoa.

-INVISBLE DOG PANTS

0:05:500:05:53

KNOCK AT DOOR

0:05:530:05:56

-Oh, hey, Gavin, what's up?

-Hey, dude!

0:05:560:05:59

This is my dog.

0:05:590:06:00

What's his name?

0:06:020:06:04

-Dog.

-Imaginative name.

0:06:040:06:06

Yeah, listen, could you look after him while I pop out for a bit?

0:06:060:06:09

-No Gav, Gav, no...

-Thanks a lot, see you later!

0:06:090:06:11

-My dad's allergic.

-HE SNEEZES

0:06:110:06:14

What am I going to do now?

0:06:140:06:15

If my dad comes over, he'll sneeze the house down.

0:06:150:06:18

Oh, well.

0:06:190:06:20

Here you go, Dog,

0:06:200:06:22

make yourself at home.

0:06:220:06:23

Oh, I see you've found yourself a comfy spot, Dog.

0:06:270:06:29

I'm sure that picture moves on its own.

0:06:300:06:33

-It's almost as if it's animated.

-BALL BOINGS

0:06:330:06:35

-BALL BOINGS

-Oh!

0:06:420:06:46

Um...

0:06:460:06:48

I'm a clay ninja, and that's because I know this awesome technique

0:06:480:06:51

that'll put bounce into any animation.

0:06:510:06:53

And it's called... # Dun-da-da-dun! #

0:06:530:06:56

..squash and stretch.

0:06:560:06:58

Here's how to work it in three ninja moves.

0:06:580:07:00

Ninja move number one.

0:07:010:07:03

It's time to do the squash.

0:07:030:07:05

Now, I'm going be doing this with some clay and some wire.

0:07:050:07:10

So let's put the ball up here.

0:07:100:07:12

-CAMERA CLICKS

-And then make it go down

0:07:120:07:14

towards the table.

0:07:140:07:16

'For each photo, paint out the wire

0:07:160:07:17

'using free online photo manipulation software.'

0:07:170:07:21

And then, when it gets close to the table,

0:07:210:07:23

when it actually touches it,

0:07:230:07:24

it needs to squash out to absorb the impact.

0:07:240:07:27

So it gets really squashed like that.

0:07:270:07:29

And the first movement should be a really big jump,

0:07:290:07:31

so it should go from round to quite squashed,

0:07:310:07:34

cos it feels more impactful

0:07:340:07:36

and like it had more velocity.

0:07:360:07:38

-There we go.

-CAMERA CLICKS

0:07:380:07:40

This is obviously the first part of squash and stretch.

0:07:400:07:43

It's the squash.

0:07:430:07:44

And then squash it a little bit more.

0:07:440:07:45

-CAMERA CLICKS

-And each time you squash it

0:07:450:07:48

in this part of the animation,

0:07:480:07:49

you squash it a little bit less each time.

0:07:490:07:51

So the first one's a big impact

0:07:510:07:52

and then a little bit more, a little bit more,

0:07:520:07:54

so it's kind of easing into it.

0:07:540:07:56

Ninja move number two.

0:07:560:07:58

Now we need to do the stretch part.

0:07:580:07:59

First of all, the ball needs to return to normal ball shape,

0:07:590:08:02

so just roll it into a ball.

0:08:020:08:03

-There we go.

-CAMERA CLICKS

0:08:080:08:10

And then it starts to go long, like a sausage,

0:08:100:08:13

and that's because we're trying to give the idea

0:08:130:08:15

that it's bouncing back away from the impact it just had.

0:08:150:08:18

-CAMERA CLICKS

-Bit more of a sausage.

0:08:180:08:21

And it's first bounce has been quite aggressive.

0:08:210:08:23

It's a big squash and a big stretch,

0:08:230:08:25

cos it's fallen from the highest point.

0:08:250:08:28

There we go.

0:08:280:08:29

-CAMERA CLICKS

-And as it raises up,

0:08:290:08:32

it slowly starts to form back into its normal ball shape.,

0:08:320:08:35

so less of a stretch now.

0:08:350:08:37

-There we go.

-CAMERA CLICKS

0:08:370:08:39

And then when it gets to the highest point,

0:08:390:08:41

back perfectly to a ball.

0:08:410:08:42

CAMERA CLICKS

0:08:450:08:47

Ninja move number three.

0:08:470:08:48

So now we need to use our squash and stretch skills

0:08:480:08:51

to move the ball.

0:08:510:08:52

If we're going to have a ball bounce and then slowly come to a stop,

0:08:520:08:55

we need to decrease the amount of squash and stretch on each bounce.

0:08:550:08:59

This makes the whole thing look more real.

0:08:590:09:01

Let's take a look at the ball in action.

0:09:010:09:03

BALL BOINGS

0:09:030:09:07

You can use squash and stretch on any animation

0:09:070:09:09

and with any character.

0:09:090:09:10

And it'll make your animations look totes profesh.

0:09:100:09:13

DOLPHIN CALLS

0:09:150:09:17

Wow.

0:09:170:09:19

Show off.

0:09:190:09:20

TELEPHONE RINGS

0:09:250:09:28

ANSWERING MACHINE BEEP 'Hi, Ricky, it's mum!

0:09:280:09:31

-'I'm leaving you a message.'

-Obviously.

0:09:310:09:34

'Your dad's on his way over.

0:09:340:09:36

'I've been dusting, so his allergies are bad.

0:09:360:09:38

'He was hoping to come to you for a breath of fresh air.

0:09:380:09:41

'Maybe while he's there you could do things like

0:09:410:09:43

'turn your pet into a person,

0:09:430:09:46

'give your tablet a terabyte with a shark cover

0:09:460:09:49

'and use sat nav and your mate Gav

0:09:490:09:52

'to make street art with a difference.

0:09:520:09:54

'Anyway, when your dad is there be gentle with him.

0:09:540:09:57

'You know how sensitive he is.' DAD SNEEZES IN BACKGROUND

0:09:570:09:59

The only way this day could get any worse

0:09:590:10:02

is if I had more pets to look after.

0:10:020:10:04

-KNOCK AT DOOR

-Eurgh.

0:10:040:10:06

-Oh, hey, Sarah.

-Hi, Ricky.

0:10:080:10:09

Just wondered if you could look after Lola for me.

0:10:090:10:11

I just need to nip out.

0:10:110:10:13

It's a little inconvenient actually.

0:10:130:10:14

My dad's coming over and she'll bring him out in hives.

0:10:140:10:17

She's a dog, not a bee, Ricky. Thanks, bye.

0:10:170:10:19

They say that pets look like their owners,

0:10:230:10:25

and seeing as I've got Gav's and Sarah's dog here,

0:10:250:10:28

I think I'm in a unique position to test out that theory.

0:10:280:10:32

DOG BARKS

0:10:320:10:36

DOG GROWLS

0:10:370:10:40

So I've sent my pictures to my laptop.

0:10:470:10:49

'Here's my chosen picture of Lola,

0:10:490:10:51

'and I've also got one of Sarah.'

0:10:510:10:53

And what I need to do to start with is get rid of Sarah's head,

0:10:530:10:56

so I can put Lola's head on there.

0:10:560:10:58

'I'm using a free photo manipulation tool.

0:10:580:11:00

'There's plenty available online.'

0:11:000:11:02

And I'm going to copy a bit of the background behind Sarah

0:11:020:11:05

to paint out her head.

0:11:050:11:06

'No offence, Sarah.'

0:11:060:11:08

So I hold down control,

0:11:080:11:10

then I click that part of the background there.

0:11:100:11:12

And look, where I draw now,

0:11:120:11:14

that bit will be copied to where I am.

0:11:140:11:15

There we go. Bye, Sarah.

0:11:160:11:18

Beautiful.

0:11:200:11:22

Now I need to get Lola's head ready,

0:11:220:11:24

so I'm going to use the lasso tool to crop it out.

0:11:240:11:26

And the lasso tool is for selecting a specific area of your picture.

0:11:260:11:31

These points represent the area

0:11:310:11:33

that I'm going to copy from this picture to the other one.

0:11:330:11:37

Top of her head.

0:11:370:11:38

And now I'm going to copy Lola's head,

0:11:420:11:43

so edit, copy.

0:11:430:11:46

Go on to my picture of Sarah,

0:11:460:11:47

and I'm going to paste it as a new layer.

0:11:470:11:49

There we go.

0:11:510:11:53

Move it around.

0:11:530:11:55

And you need to resize it because it's a bit big at the moment.

0:11:550:11:58

If I hold down control,

0:11:580:12:00

I can make it a bit smaller.

0:12:000:12:02

And then I'm going to drag it onto Sarah's body.

0:12:030:12:07

Looking good, Sarah.

0:12:080:12:09

Or, should I say, Lola.

0:12:090:12:11

Now it's not fair to do this to Sarah

0:12:130:12:15

and not do it to Gavin too.

0:12:150:12:17

Luckily, I've got some pictures of Gavin as well.

0:12:170:12:19

Bit of a poser, you know.

0:12:190:12:22

That's Gavin, though.

0:12:220:12:23

That's better, isn't it?

0:12:240:12:26

And going to copy Dog's head.

0:12:260:12:29

And let's pop that nice and snugly.

0:12:290:12:32

There we go.

0:12:320:12:33

Look at those guys.

0:12:330:12:35

Yeah, these look pretty awesome.

0:12:350:12:37

Hi, Ricky.

0:12:390:12:40

Whoa, I don't remember making you.

0:12:400:12:43

You do look cool, though.

0:12:430:12:44

Actually, the name's Coolidge, Cassius Marcellus Coolidge.

0:12:440:12:48

I'm an artist who does anthropomorphism.

0:12:480:12:51

Wow, that's a mouthful.

0:12:510:12:53

It means I paint pictures of animals doing human things,

0:12:530:12:56

and I specialise in dogs playing cards.

0:12:560:12:59

Here's one of mine now.

0:12:590:13:01

Nice.

0:13:010:13:02

You probably should've done crocodiles, though.

0:13:020:13:04

-Why?

-Oh...they're good at playing snap.

0:13:040:13:07

Aww.

0:13:070:13:09

Finally, just for a bit of fun,

0:13:100:13:12

I'm going to anthopu...

0:13:120:13:14

I'm going to than...

0:13:140:13:16

I'm going to put my dad's head on a dog.

0:13:160:13:19

It's a little bit harder when you haven't got a clean background.

0:13:190:13:22

But I can probably get away with my dad's head being bigger,

0:13:220:13:24

just due to the perspective.

0:13:240:13:27

Wow, the beard's probably the same colour as the dog actually.

0:13:270:13:30

Tie in really nicely.

0:13:300:13:31

I'm really happy with that.

0:13:360:13:38

For a start, it's well funny,

0:13:380:13:40

and also, my dad's super allergic to animals,

0:13:400:13:43

so this is the closet he's ever going to get to one.

0:13:430:13:45

Until he comes round here, of course.

0:13:450:13:48

-DAD SNEEZES

-Woof, woof.

0:13:480:13:50

Here's a quick art tip of how to draw a flock of birds.

0:13:510:13:55

So, we're going to start with a big bird at the front.

0:13:550:13:59

Its tail feathers.

0:13:590:14:02

A nice big beak.

0:14:020:14:03

I'm going to do it's wing back, mid flap.

0:14:050:14:08

And its feet back too.

0:14:110:14:13

Next we're going to draw another bird, top left.

0:14:130:14:15

This one's going to be smaller as it's going to be in the distance.

0:14:150:14:18

And I'm going to draw this one's wing down at the end of its flap.

0:14:180:14:22

Drawing the wings in different places gives your flock

0:14:270:14:30

a greater sense of movement.

0:14:300:14:32

And, finally, I'm going to draw one more bird,

0:14:320:14:34

between the two of them.

0:14:340:14:35

So medium size.

0:14:350:14:37

'And this one's wings are going to be at the top of it's body.

0:14:370:14:39

'You can draw as many birds as you want.'

0:14:390:14:42

Another one here.

0:14:420:14:44

And then I'm going to add a couple of action lines.

0:14:450:14:48

Just to make them look like they're drifting through the sky.

0:14:480:14:51

There we go. A quick art tip.

0:14:540:14:56

Ricky.

0:15:070:15:09

Who needs pets when you've got so many Art Ninja apprentices.

0:15:090:15:12

Can you make art with pegs?

0:15:120:15:14

Hang on. I have to think about that one.

0:15:140:15:17

Ricky, what can you make with this?

0:15:180:15:22

-Hey, I choose you.

-Yeah!

-Yes!

0:15:220:15:25

-So what's your names then?

-Well, I'm William.

-I'm Kieran.

0:15:250:15:29

-And where you from?

-Birmingham.

0:15:290:15:31

Birmingham, nice one. So what have you got for me today?

0:15:310:15:33

-A fleece blanket.

-Whoa, it's pretty big and blue, like an ocean.

0:15:330:15:37

Gives me an idea. In fact, I've got some fleece laying around.

0:15:370:15:40

I'll just go and grab some.

0:15:400:15:41

I've got some different shapes that I've cut out from an old fleece

0:15:410:15:44

and a bit of felt.

0:15:440:15:46

And I'm going to use them to make a protective case for a tablet

0:15:460:15:49

that'll look like it's being eaten by a shark.

0:15:490:15:51

I like to call it...a terabyte.

0:15:510:15:53

Little computer joke for you there.

0:15:530:15:56

'I've cut two pieces of material the same size as my tablet.

0:15:560:15:59

'One rectangular and one with a curve in the end.

0:15:590:16:02

'I'll sew these pieces together later.

0:16:020:16:04

'Now, let's make it look like a shark.

0:16:040:16:07

'I'm going to stick down the shark's belly, using fabric glue.'

0:16:070:16:10

There's one, like that.

0:16:130:16:14

And then I've got these fins for the side, and these two.

0:16:140:16:17

Going to put these lighter bits of felt on.

0:16:170:16:19

So do you guys have any pets or anything?

0:16:190:16:22

I'm not saying that a shark's a good pet but...

0:16:220:16:24

I've got a cat. His name's Erik.

0:16:240:16:27

So why is he called Erik?

0:16:270:16:28

Erik was a very popular Viking name.

0:16:280:16:31

-Really?

-Yeah. Erik the Red.

0:16:310:16:33

-So is he a red cat?

-He's ginger.

-Oh, I see.

0:16:330:16:38

-How are you, Kieran, do you have any pets?

-No.

0:16:390:16:41

-Would you like one?

-Yeah.

0:16:410:16:43

-What would you like?

-Husky.

-I really like huskies.

0:16:430:16:46

OK, I'm just going to start gluing on the red bit for the mouth.

0:16:460:16:49

I measured these against the flap at the top to make sure they fit.

0:16:490:16:52

And the other bit's going to go there.

0:16:520:16:55

-Do you guys like doing art?

-Yeah, mostly drawing.

0:16:550:16:58

What kind of things do you like to draw?

0:16:580:17:00

Battle scenes, giants and stuff like that.

0:17:000:17:03

-I like to draw a Viking.

-Awesome.

0:17:030:17:07

'A bit like Eric the Red?'

0:17:070:17:08

Just going to stick some teeth on cos what's a shark without teeth?

0:17:100:17:13

For the top layer of teeth -

0:17:170:17:19

going to put the glue straight onto the mouth

0:17:190:17:21

so I can get the teeth hanging over the edge nice.

0:17:210:17:23

RICKY GROWLS

0:17:230:17:25

So the mouth and that's looking pretty good.

0:17:250:17:27

Think it's time to put on a face.

0:17:270:17:29

I've cut out some different shapes here to make some eyes.

0:17:290:17:32

I think this shark should be quite happy but maybe he's hungry?

0:17:320:17:35

So he's got a mean face on so he can eat the tablet.

0:17:350:17:38

Don't worry too much about getting the fabric glue everywhere,

0:17:380:17:41

cos it will just dry out invisible.

0:17:410:17:43

Now, I'm just going to put on some gills.

0:17:430:17:44

Going to start sewing now.

0:17:470:17:49

I've tied a knot in the end so that it won't go all the way through.

0:17:490:17:53

I'm using blanket stitch.

0:17:530:17:55

And you go round and you go over again.

0:17:550:17:57

So you see we've gone back on ourselves,

0:17:570:17:58

and back in the same way we did first time round.

0:17:580:18:00

Then when you have this loop, put our needle back through.

0:18:020:18:05

Pointing in the opposite way to the way we were stitching.

0:18:050:18:08

And then we pull it tight.

0:18:080:18:10

'I've also doubled up the thread

0:18:100:18:12

'so it holds the case together nice and tightly.'

0:18:120:18:15

Going to sew on these fins.

0:18:150:18:19

-What are you into?

-I like skateboarding.

0:18:190:18:21

I love football.

0:18:210:18:23

I've got the sticker album for the World Cup.

0:18:230:18:25

I used to use them to make pictures out of,

0:18:250:18:27

rather than actually put them in the album.

0:18:270:18:30

I've put in some loops in the last stitch so I can tie it off.

0:18:300:18:34

All that's left now is the dorsal fin.

0:18:340:18:36

So I just stick that on the back.

0:18:360:18:38

-OK guys, do you want to see it?

-Yeah.

-Right, here we go.

0:18:400:18:43

-RICKY GROWLS Awesome!

-Wicked!

0:18:430:18:48

I think that is app-solutely brilliant.

0:18:500:18:53

So guys, what would you give it out of ten?

0:18:530:18:55

Four? Just four each?

0:18:550:18:57

-BOTH:

-No, it's 44!

0:18:570:19:00

44? Out of ten? That's not even possible.

0:19:000:19:03

What a great score.

0:19:030:19:05

Thanks very much, guys, cheers for all your help.

0:19:050:19:07

-Have a good day, yeah, bye-bye.

-Bye.

-Bye.

0:19:070:19:10

Well, that's covered that one. You can make any animal.

0:19:100:19:14

Let your imagination go wild.

0:19:140:19:15

Hey, you there.

0:19:180:19:20

This guy makes me sick.

0:19:200:19:22

Ever wanted to make fake sick?

0:19:220:19:25

-Seriously?

-Seriously.

0:19:250:19:27

You can produce puke without all that yucky muck.

0:19:270:19:32

'Here's how you make it. First you need a bowl.

0:19:330:19:38

'Two packets of soup - minestrone and chicken are good.

0:19:380:19:42

'Pour the soup mixtures into the bowl.

0:19:420:19:45

'Get a jug of water.

0:19:450:19:47

'Pour a small amount into the bowl and stir, keeping the mixture thick.

0:19:470:19:53

'Then you need to add a generous amount of PVA glue

0:19:530:19:58

'to make it sticky.

0:19:580:20:00

'Stir well with a spoon and add more water if necessary.'

0:20:000:20:03

'Grab a piece of canvas or thick paper.

0:20:060:20:10

'Pour the mixture onto the canvas and use the spoon

0:20:100:20:15

'to spread the mixture around, to make a more splattered effect.

0:20:150:20:20

'Leave it to dry overnight.'

0:20:200:20:22

Fake sick, give it a whirl.

0:20:230:20:26

So good, you'll hurl.

0:20:260:20:29

Ha, that fake sick...is sick.

0:20:310:20:34

-TEXT MESSAGE ALERT

-Oh, that's Dad.

0:20:340:20:37

He says he's going to be here in five minutes.

0:20:370:20:39

He's going to be so allergic to these dogs,

0:20:390:20:41

he's not going to know whether he's coming or going.

0:20:410:20:44

-What am I going to do?

-KNOCK AT DOOR

0:20:440:20:46

Oh, that must be him now. Dad, I can explain.

0:20:460:20:49

-Hi, Ricky.

-Oh, hi, Brian from next door.

0:20:490:20:51

-Yeah, I can watch Adie for you.

-Thanks, Ricky.

0:20:510:20:53

-Hello. Easy.

-DOGS BARK

0:20:530:20:57

-KNOCK AT DOOR

-Oh, dear.

0:20:570:21:00

-How you doing, Ricky?

-Oh, hi, Becky from upstairs.

0:21:020:21:05

-Can you watch Rivas?

-Yeah, I can watch Rivas for you.

-Thanks.

0:21:050:21:07

-The more the merrier, come on in.

-KNOCK ON DOOR

0:21:070:21:10

RICKY SIGHS

0:21:100:21:12

DOGS BARK

0:21:120:21:13

-Hello, Ricky.

-Hi, Pat.

-Can you...?

0:21:130:21:16

-Yeah, I can watch Alfie for you.

-Much appreciated, Ricky.

0:21:160:21:18

DOGS BARK

0:21:180:21:20

Oh, Dad's not going to like this. There's only one thing for it.

0:21:200:21:24

Come on Lola, come on Mo. Walkies!

0:21:240:21:26

DOG GROWLS

0:21:280:21:30

I know I said I wanted a dog but this takes the dog biscuit.

0:21:340:21:38

Yeah, hi, Gavin. Can you come and help me, please?

0:21:390:21:42

Not again Ricky, not another one of your harebrained schemes?

0:21:420:21:46

Yeah, not so much a harebrained scheme, as a dog-brained scheme.

0:21:460:21:50

No Ricky, I can't do it. I'm very busy.

0:21:500:21:54

Besides I'm probably nowhere near you.

0:21:540:21:57

Ha-ha, ninja skills.

0:21:570:21:59

-Hey, Gav.

-Hello, Dog.

0:21:590:22:01

I'll say it again, imaginative name.

0:22:010:22:04

Has uncle Ricky been looking after you my little choo-choo face?

0:22:040:22:07

Gav, I don't know if you've noticed

0:22:070:22:09

but I've got all these other dogs, as well.

0:22:090:22:10

Oh, yeah, how did that happen?

0:22:100:22:13

Never mind about that.

0:22:130:22:14

Having these guys around has given me an idea

0:22:140:22:16

to do a really big piece of canine inspired art.

0:22:160:22:19

But first we'd better get our ninja on.

0:22:190:22:22

GONG PLAYS

0:22:220:22:24

Art Ninja!

0:22:270:22:29

Come on, Gavin, strike a pose.

0:22:290:22:31

Sorry, it's all I could find for this bit.

0:22:310:22:34

Heel, Gavin.

0:22:340:22:35

How do you want me to help with the art, Ricky?

0:22:370:22:39

Well, you've got a very important job.

0:22:390:22:41

-You're going to hold on to these dogs here.

-OK.

0:22:410:22:44

And I'm going to get my phone out

0:22:440:22:45

and open up my satellite navigation app.

0:22:450:22:48

There's plenty of free versions of these things online

0:22:480:22:50

that you can download.

0:22:500:22:51

And now I'm going to see where this art leads.

0:22:510:22:54

-I'll see you in a minute.

-Hang on.

0:22:540:22:57

I wanted you to look after my dog while I popped out.

0:22:570:23:00

How do I get talked into this stuff? Why have I got all these dogs?

0:23:000:23:04

-That Ricky's an absolute...

-Dude, I can hear you.

0:23:040:23:07

My Art Ninja apprentices are out walking their dogs.

0:23:120:23:15

I've arranged to meet up with them and they're going to help me

0:23:150:23:18

do some amazing art.

0:23:180:23:19

Hey, Oscar. Hey, Sophia. Who are these guys?

0:23:200:23:23

Hi, Ricky, this is Harley.

0:23:230:23:24

And this is Larkin, we're taking them for a walk.

0:23:240:23:26

-Do you guys want to help me do some art?

-Yeah. Why not?

0:23:260:23:29

Cool, let's do it.

0:23:290:23:30

I'm using a satellite navigation app to make a route

0:23:340:23:36

that will also become the outline to a massive picture.

0:23:360:23:39

-What's the picture going to be?

-I'll give you a clue.

0:23:390:23:41

It's going to be all over Bristol, or should I say all rover Bristol.

0:23:410:23:45

Hey guys, I think the first bit of the dog walking picture's done.

0:23:530:23:56

So thanks very much Oscar, cheers Sophia, have a good day, yeah?

0:23:560:23:59

-Bye.

-Bye-bye.

0:23:590:24:01

Right, I think we need to loop round these houses

0:24:080:24:10

to make a loop in my drawing.

0:24:100:24:12

Ninja skills.

0:24:200:24:21

I think it's coming together

0:24:240:24:26

but I could really do with some more canine company.

0:24:260:24:29

-Oh, hey, Chloe. Hey, Kiera.

-Hi.

-Hi, Ricky.

0:24:290:24:32

-How are you guys doing?

-Yeah, we're OK.

0:24:320:24:34

-How's Jessie?

-She's fine.

0:24:340:24:35

Right. I need Jessie to take me on the next leg of my sat nav drawing.

0:24:350:24:39

Lead the way, Jessie.

0:24:390:24:41

I need to circumnavigate the park to map out my picture.

0:24:410:24:43

-Well, have a lovely day, guys.

-You too.

-Cheers again.

-Bye.

-Bye.

0:24:490:24:53

I'm a bit lost.

0:25:020:25:04

Think I need to check my bearings.

0:25:040:25:06

Hey, look, my sat nav scribble is starting to take shape.

0:25:060:25:08

'Here's some more of my ninja apprentices

0:25:080:25:10

'to help me find Vauxhall Bridge.'

0:25:100:25:13

'Great, we've sniffed it out.'

0:25:210:25:23

-Cheers then, bye-bye.

-CHILDREN:

-Bye.

0:25:230:25:26

Gavin, what are you doing with all these dogs?

0:25:300:25:32

And why have you got Lola?

0:25:320:25:33

Well, Ricky asked me to look after them all.

0:25:330:25:35

Well, where's Ricky?

0:25:350:25:36

He's off doing some art or something.

0:25:360:25:38

Well he is the Art Ninja. Come on, Lola, come on.

0:25:380:25:42

-But what about all these other dogs?

-DOG GROWLS

0:25:430:25:46

We're nearly at the end of today's...tail.

0:25:510:25:54

-CHILDREN:

-That way.

-Lead the way.

0:25:540:25:56

I think I can probably manage the last leg of our drawing on my own.

0:26:070:26:11

-See you later.

-Bye.

-OK, bye.

0:26:110:26:13

Just a minute, you said. Where have you been?

0:26:180:26:20

I've been making some awesome art.

0:26:200:26:22

You left me with all the dogs.

0:26:220:26:23

Well, you were trying to do that to me earl...

0:26:230:26:26

Dude, where are all the dogs?

0:26:260:26:27

Their owners came and took them away. It's just me and my dog.

0:26:270:26:30

He's been running rings around me though, literally.

0:26:300:26:33

Maybe we can put that to good use. Check this out.

0:26:360:26:39

-Ah, I see.

-Hey, you, shoo, it's not finished yet.

0:26:410:26:44

We need to do this bit with...Dog.

0:26:440:26:47

I don't know about you but I'm dog-tired.

0:26:510:26:53

Do you know what? Funny you should say that,

0:26:530:26:55

cos you've just helped me make a piece of art with a difference.

0:26:550:26:58

Drawn on an incredible dog walk.

0:26:580:27:01
