"I want to see Calum Scott on the show." | 0:01:05 | 0:01:07
Well, good news - look who's in the studio. | 0:01:07 | 0:01:09
It's the one and only Calum Scott behind a frying pan. | 0:01:09 | 0:01:12

And he's joined by his amazing choir. | 0:01:13 | 0:01:15

Yes, well, we've also got a pancake challenge coming up | 0:01:18 | 0:01:21
between Calum and myself because Pancake Day is around the corner. | 0:01:21 | 0:01:24
-Are you ready for that, Calum? -I'm so ready. -You'd better be. | 0:01:24 | 0:01:28
-You'd better be. -Fighting talk! This is good. | 0:01:28 | 0:01:30
As well, we're going to be playing our fave little game Spot Shelly. | 0:01:30 | 0:01:34

if you can spot Shelly, you could be our winner. | 0:01:35 | 0:01:38
We're going to be announcing the winner on Fan Club Live on the show. | 0:01:38 | 0:01:42
Yes, and we're also going to be announcing | 0:01:42 | 0:01:44
the February Fan Of The Month so stayed tuned for that. | 0:01:44 | 0:01:46
-CHEERING Yes! -Yes! | 0:01:46 | 0:01:48
Jack's excited. But first, it's time to meet the amazing Calum Scott! | 0:01:48 | 0:01:52
CHEERING | 0:01:52 | 0:01:54
-Calum. -Hiya! -Here you are. Welcome to Blue Peter. -Thank you very much. | 0:01:54 | 0:01:58
-I've brought my choir. -You've brought a massive choir with you. | 0:01:58 | 0:02:01
Hello, guys! | 0:02:01 | 0:02:02
Hey! Oh, I love this. Come every week. | 0:02:02 | 0:02:05
-Calum, it was 2015 when we saw you do Britain's Got Talent. -Yes. | 0:02:05 | 0:02:08
-Of course, you got the Golden Buzzer. -Yes. -Big day for you. | 0:02:08 | 0:02:11
-Big, big day. -Have you been busy since then? -I've been so busy. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:14
I've been signed now, I've been recording my album which is out | 0:02:14 | 0:02:17
next month and I'm going on tour as well so I'm very busy. | 0:02:17 | 0:02:20
-And you're busy on today's show, actually. -Busy doing pancakes. | 0:02:20 | 0:02:23
Well, I was going to say your new single, | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
but, more importantly, you're going to be making some pancakes as well. | 0:02:25 | 0:02:28
-Yes. -Are you excited for that? | 0:02:28 | 0:02:29
I'm more excited about the pancakes, if I'm honest. | 0:02:29 | 0:02:32
It's going to be good. | 0:02:32 | 0:02:33
And as you've said, your team are wearing these golden jumpers, | 0:02:33 | 0:02:36
which are absolutely incredible. | 0:02:36 | 0:02:38
Can I have one after the show? | 0:02:38 | 0:02:39
That was a no. I'm not getting one, that's fine. | 0:02:39 | 0:02:42
Now, as we mentioned earlier in the show, | 0:02:42 | 0:02:44
Hafza wrote in and she said that she's a massive fan of yours. | 0:02:44 | 0:02:48
Now, you haven't even met in rehearsals, | 0:02:48 | 0:02:50
but to prove where the purple badge form can get you, | 0:02:50 | 0:02:53
can you please welcome to Blue Peter Hafza and her sister Shareen? | 0:02:53 | 0:02:56
CHEERING | 0:02:56 | 0:02:59
Hafza, come in. How are you? | 0:02:59 | 0:03:02
-OK. -Oh, she's straight over to Calum to say hello. -Shall we have a hug? | 0:03:02 | 0:03:06
-Hug it out. That's what we like to see. -How are you? | 0:03:06 | 0:03:08
-Welcome to BP. Are you a big fan of Calum's? -Yeah, I love his new song. | 0:03:08 | 0:03:12
Oh, really? Oh, you're going to love it later. | 0:03:12 | 0:03:14
-How long have you been a fan? -About three years. -Good. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:18
-Amazing, since the beginning. -Yeah. | 0:03:18 | 0:03:20
-Stick around cos do you want to help me with our pancake-off later? -Yeah. | 0:03:20 | 0:03:24
You do. Have you made pancakes before? | 0:03:24 | 0:03:25
-Yeah. -OK, we're going to be fine, we're going to be fine. -Good. | 0:03:25 | 0:03:28
You guys bond, say hello, | 0:03:28 | 0:03:29
meet and we're going to go over to the Big Badge Wall. Mollie? | 0:03:29 | 0:03:33
Well, the Big Badge Wall is a thing of beauty if I do say so myself. | 0:03:33 | 0:03:37
I can't believe we've received all this post | 0:03:37 | 0:03:40
-just in one week. -It's a lot. | 0:03:40 | 0:03:41
It is a real lot. I love this one sent in by Mia. | 0:03:41 | 0:03:44
She's drawn her guinea pig here called Pancake, | 0:03:44 | 0:03:48
which is a great name. I need your help here, guys. | 0:03:48 | 0:03:51
-It's very fitting, isn't it? -Very fitting, I need all the help | 0:03:51 | 0:03:53
I can get for this pancake challenge, | 0:03:53 | 0:03:55
so I hope you guys are watching today. | 0:03:55 | 0:03:57
As well as that, I absolutely love this. | 0:03:57 | 0:03:58
It's from Jude, who's 12 from Swindon. | 0:03:58 | 0:04:01
Have a look, it's our safe from last week's show | 0:04:01 | 0:04:03
-and says, "What's inside?" -Oh! -Well, I'll tell you what's inside. | 0:04:03 | 0:04:06
Let's see. Pull it up. | 0:04:06 | 0:04:07
-It's the Diamond badge! -Oh. | 0:04:07 | 0:04:10
-How good is that? -So good! -I've actually been allowed to hold one. | 0:04:10 | 0:04:13
We've got one right here, have a look. | 0:04:13 | 0:04:15
If you want to earn one, all you need is to do | 0:04:15 | 0:04:17
is fill out a badge form, it's on the BP website. | 0:04:17 | 0:04:19
You've got the whole year, and actually, loads of you have | 0:04:19 | 0:04:21
already been in touch filling out your Diamond badge forms. | 0:04:21 | 0:04:24
-So, well done and well done to Jude. -That is so cool. | 0:04:24 | 0:04:27
And remember, guys, if you've got a Blue Peter badge, | 0:04:27 | 0:04:29
-then you can get into over 200 attractions across the UK... -Ready? | 0:04:29 | 0:04:34
-ALL: -# For free! # | 0:04:34 | 0:04:36
-That was the best one we've ever done! -Wow. | 0:04:39 | 0:04:41
I've got goose bumps, that was fab. You need to get ready for pancaking. | 0:04:41 | 0:04:45
-Pancakes. -You need to work on the batter, Mollie. | 0:04:45 | 0:04:48
While she does, 2018 is a huge year for commemorating | 0:04:48 | 0:04:52
the rights of women, and I went to London | 0:04:52 | 0:04:54
to find out a little bit more. | 0:04:54 | 0:04:56
This is the Palace of Westminster in London. | 0:04:59 | 0:05:01
Otherwise known as the Houses of Parliament. | 0:05:01 | 0:05:04
It plays a big part in all our lives, | 0:05:05 | 0:05:07
because it's here that the UK's laws are discussed and put in place. | 0:05:07 | 0:05:11
It's a building that has been home to some huge moments in history, | 0:05:16 | 0:05:19
and has survived two world wars. | 0:05:19 | 0:05:21
This is Central Lobby, right in the centre of the palace, | 0:05:23 | 0:05:26
and it's slap bang in the middle of the House of Commons | 0:05:26 | 0:05:29
just over there, where the government and opposition MPs | 0:05:29 | 0:05:33
discuss the laws they want to pass, | 0:05:33 | 0:05:35
and the House of Lords just over there, | 0:05:35 | 0:05:37
where those laws are looked at again with a fine-tooth comb. | 0:05:37 | 0:05:40
We've got access to the House of Commons chamber. | 0:05:41 | 0:05:45
Oh, my goodness! | 0:05:45 | 0:05:47
It is quite unbelievable to be actually in here. | 0:05:50 | 0:05:53
Wow! | 0:05:54 | 0:05:56 | |
It's from this very spot every week that the Prime Minister stands | 0:05:58 | 0:06:01
and has to answer questions on how they're running the country. | 0:06:01 | 0:06:05
And trust me, things can get pretty intense. | 0:06:05 | 0:06:07
-Order! Order! -JEERING | 0:06:08 | 0:06:11
Order! | 0:06:11 | 0:06:13
This is a cover-up, Mr Speaker. Pure and simple, and it stinks. | 0:06:15 | 0:06:19
And I thought being a BP presenter was tough. | 0:06:19 | 0:06:22
Everyone who is 18 or older gets to vote for who sits here | 0:06:23 | 0:06:27
and makes the country's laws. | 0:06:27 | 0:06:29
Today, voting is a basic right for every adult, | 0:06:30 | 0:06:32
but it hasn't always been that way. | 0:06:32 | 0:06:35
In fact, as recently as 100 years ago, | 0:06:35 | 0:06:38
many people couldn't vote at all. | 0:06:38 | 0:06:41
And men and women weren't seen as equal. | 0:06:41 | 0:06:43
Marie works in the Houses of Parliament, | 0:06:45 | 0:06:47
and I've come to meet her to find out more. | 0:06:47 | 0:06:49
Marie, where are we? This place is absolutely incredible. | 0:06:50 | 0:06:54
We are in the Parliamentary Archives in the original Act Room, | 0:06:54 | 0:06:56
surrounded by 60,000 Acts of Parliament going back 500 years. | 0:06:56 | 0:07:01
All of these laws affect women's lives, but women had no say | 0:07:01 | 0:07:05
whatsoever in the making of them, because they couldn't vote. | 0:07:05 | 0:07:07
More than 100 years ago, | 0:07:09 | 0:07:10
many men and all women weren't allowed to vote. | 0:07:10 | 0:07:13
Believing this was wrong, a group of women began to protest. | 0:07:13 | 0:07:17
Yes, our women taxpayers are entitled to vote! | 0:07:18 | 0:07:22
They were called the Suffragettes, | 0:07:22 | 0:07:24
and over time, their protests grew louder and louder. | 0:07:24 | 0:07:27
In 1913, a Suffragette called Emily Wilding Davison died | 0:07:29 | 0:07:33
after being hit by the King's horse. | 0:07:33 | 0:07:35
But still, nothing changed, until the First World War broke out. | 0:07:37 | 0:07:41
With the men away fighting, many women found themselves | 0:07:45 | 0:07:48
in the workplace, doing jobs previously only done by men. | 0:07:48 | 0:07:52
And things were no different right here in the Palace of Westminster. | 0:07:52 | 0:07:55
So, I've come back to experience one of those roles. | 0:07:55 | 0:07:58
OK, so during the First World War, the House of Commons employed | 0:08:00 | 0:08:03
four girl porters to deliver mail and other items between offices. | 0:08:03 | 0:08:06
The youngest was only 14 years old. | 0:08:06 | 0:08:08
-Today, you're going to get to be a girl porter. -Is this my job? | 0:08:08 | 0:08:11
-It is, yes. -OK, the pressure's on. Better get to it. | 0:08:11 | 0:08:14
-Hello? -Hello. Thank you very much. | 0:08:19 | 0:08:21
The war changed Britain. | 0:08:21 | 0:08:23
After four years of doing these jobs, women were seen as more equal. | 0:08:23 | 0:08:27
In 1918, the government passed a law which gave the women | 0:08:31 | 0:08:34
older than 30 and all men over 21 the right to vote. | 0:08:34 | 0:08:38
It was a small change, but it was a start. | 0:08:38 | 0:08:41
10 years later in 1928, women were given the same rights as men. | 0:08:41 | 0:08:46
And someone who knows all about how important that was | 0:08:49 | 0:08:52
is Baroness Jenkin of Kennington, | 0:08:52 | 0:08:54
who's a member of the House of Lords. | 0:08:54 | 0:08:56
-Hello, Lindsey, lovely to see you. -Great to meet you. | 0:08:58 | 0:09:00
Let's talk about this act, because it was so very important | 0:09:00 | 0:09:03
at the time but it's still very important to everyone now, isn't it? | 0:09:03 | 0:09:06
Yes, it seems extraordinary that only 100 years ago, women, | 0:09:06 | 0:09:10
you and I, wouldn't have had the vote. | 0:09:10 | 0:09:12
And indeed, of course, a lot of men wouldn't have had the vote. | 0:09:12 | 0:09:15
It was the coming back from the war which was the catalyst | 0:09:15 | 0:09:18
which made everything change. | 0:09:18 | 0:09:20
So, 1918 was the start. | 0:09:20 | 0:09:22
But of course, there was still so much to do. | 0:09:22 | 0:09:26
And we all have to get involved, and girls today have to step up as well. | 0:09:26 | 0:09:30
Everybody can play a part | 0:09:30 | 0:09:32
and we shouldn't take our hard-fought freedoms for granted. | 0:09:32 | 0:09:35
Fast-forward to recent times and women not only | 0:09:36 | 0:09:39
vote for our government, they're part of our government, | 0:09:39 | 0:09:42
making decisions on how our country is run. | 0:09:42 | 0:09:45
I've also got quite a special piece of post to deliver | 0:09:46 | 0:09:48
for Harriet Harman, who is the longest-serving female MP. | 0:09:48 | 0:09:51
-Hi, there. -Hi, Harriet, how are you? I'm Lindsey. -Hi, thanks. | 0:09:53 | 0:09:56
It's great to meet you, I've got your mail for this morning. | 0:09:56 | 0:09:59
See what we've got here today. | 0:09:59 | 0:10:00
-You've got quite a lot today, actually. -Great, thank you. | 0:10:00 | 0:10:02
It's special to meet you | 0:10:02 | 0:10:04
because you are the longest serving female MP, which is incredible. | 0:10:04 | 0:10:07
So, how does that feel? What does that mean to you? | 0:10:07 | 0:10:09
Well, there's been such a change. | 0:10:09 | 0:10:11
I've been a Member of Parliament for 35 years, | 0:10:11 | 0:10:14
and when I first arrived, it was nearly all men. | 0:10:14 | 0:10:16
There was hardly any women at all, and it was really a time | 0:10:16 | 0:10:20
when people thought men should do the speaking | 0:10:20 | 0:10:22
and women should do the listening, | 0:10:22 | 0:10:24
and men should make all the decisions. | 0:10:24 | 0:10:27
And over these last years, that has completely changed | 0:10:27 | 0:10:30
and women want to be on equal terms with men, | 0:10:30 | 0:10:33
in the House of Commons, as well as everywhere else. | 0:10:33 | 0:10:35
It's amazing to think that just 100 years ago, | 0:10:37 | 0:10:40
young women just like me would have been denied the basic right to vote. | 0:10:40 | 0:10:44
They literally had no way of having their say. | 0:10:44 | 0:10:47
But the vote changed all of that, and you know what? | 0:10:47 | 0:10:49
Making this Blue Peter film has reminded me just how important it is | 0:10:49 | 0:10:52
for everyone to use their voice and have their say. | 0:10:52 | 0:10:56
It really is so important. If you want to know more, test yourself. | 0:10:57 | 0:11:00
You can do our Vote 100 quiz, that is on the BP website, | 0:11:00 | 0:11:04
so make sure you check it out. Now, time for a bit of fun, | 0:11:04 | 0:11:07
cos next Tuesday is Shrove Tuesday, | 0:11:07 | 0:11:10
which means one thing. | 0:11:10 | 0:11:11
-ALL: -Pancake Day! | 0:11:11 | 0:11:13
Yes, film crew, thank you. | 0:11:13 | 0:11:15
So, we're doing a bit of a pancake-off in true BP style. | 0:11:15 | 0:11:18
It's going to be Mollie versus Calum. | 0:11:18 | 0:11:20
-I love how focused you are, by the way. -I'm so focused. -Quite funny. | 0:11:20 | 0:11:23
Now, we let you each choose your own batter, your own ingredients. | 0:11:23 | 0:11:27
Mollie, let's come to you first because you've gone sweet vibes? | 0:11:27 | 0:11:30
Yes, I've got very much a sweet tooth, | 0:11:30 | 0:11:33
so I've gone in for the bananas, strawberries, blueberries. | 0:11:33 | 0:11:36
-Oh, classic. -I've actually added berries into my mix here. | 0:11:36 | 0:11:39
-Not to get fancy or anything, Calum. -I know! | 0:11:39 | 0:11:42
-But I've gone for thick American-style pancakes as well. -OK. | 0:11:42 | 0:11:45
-So, wish me luck with those. -I like your style and I love blueberries. | 0:11:45 | 0:11:49
-So, good luck. -There you go. | 0:11:49 | 0:11:50
You get on with that, because you're nearly ready to flip, I think. | 0:11:50 | 0:11:53
-I know. -Cal, let's come to you. -Yes? | 0:11:53 | 0:11:55
-You're joined firstly by two amazing sous-chefs. -My two chefs. | 0:11:55 | 0:11:58
-We should say hello to you guys. -Hi! -Hello. | 0:11:58 | 0:12:00
-Did you think a Purple badge form would get you here, by the way? -No. | 0:12:00 | 0:12:04
No! Now, you're making pancakes with Calum Scott, it's a big deal! | 0:12:04 | 0:12:07
Calum, speaking of which, what are you going to be making? | 0:12:07 | 0:12:11
Because there's some rogue ingredients. | 0:12:11 | 0:12:12
Yeah, I'm going for weird pancakes. | 0:12:12 | 0:12:14
I've got myself some cheese, spinach, beans. | 0:12:14 | 0:12:19
I've got some onions, I know you're a big fan of pickled onions. | 0:12:19 | 0:12:21
-I love pickled onions, actually. -Some tomatoes and some puree. | 0:12:21 | 0:12:24
Calum, I've got a lot of time for you | 0:12:24 | 0:12:26
but I think you've gone a bit weird with the baked beans, but we'll see! | 0:12:26 | 0:12:29
-You never know. -Exactly. -You help him out, OK, guys? Good. | 0:12:29 | 0:12:32
-Oh! Mollie's already flipped. -Right, I flipped. | 0:12:32 | 0:12:35
I've just got to get them out of the silverware. Oh, here we go! | 0:12:35 | 0:12:38
Lovely! Beautifully done, she's ready to stack. | 0:12:38 | 0:12:40
You need to be plating. Shall we count Calum down for a flip? | 0:12:40 | 0:12:43
-Ready? -Yes! | 0:12:43 | 0:12:45
-ALL: -Three, two, one! | 0:12:45 | 0:12:47
Whoa! | 0:12:47 | 0:12:48 | |
-Yes! -That was flipping brilliant. Well done, Calum. | 0:12:49 | 0:12:54
You need to plate up ASAP, my friend. | 0:12:54 | 0:12:56
By the way, if you're doing these at home, get a parent to help | 0:12:56 | 0:12:59
or an adult to help with hot pans, because they can be dangerous. | 0:12:59 | 0:13:02
You haven't got long, get those toppings on, girls. | 0:13:02 | 0:13:05
-That on the base. -They're kind of making a pizza pancake? | 0:13:05 | 0:13:07
-Yeah. -Yeah. -They said they wanted Calum Scott pancakes. | 0:13:07 | 0:13:10
We'll see how that goes. | 0:13:10 | 0:13:12
-What are you going to do? -Scott's face. -Scott's face? | 0:13:12 | 0:13:14
-Calum Scott's face on a pancake. -Yes. | 0:13:14 | 0:13:16
-OK, this really has gone rogue. -Some green stuff on there. | 0:13:16 | 0:13:20
-Where's the head? -Mollie? -Come on, Mollie. | 0:13:20 | 0:13:22
-This is going way better than rehearsals. -It really is! | 0:13:22 | 0:13:24
-That's saying a lot. -Mollie's was raw and disgusting. | 0:13:24 | 0:13:27
-How are you going to get that out? -I actually can't. -Shake it! | 0:13:27 | 0:13:30
-Smash it on the floor. -Right, really give it some welly here. | 0:13:30 | 0:13:33
-Come on, Mollie! -Give it some welly! | 0:13:33 | 0:13:36
-Yes, it's out! -Yes! -CHEERING | 0:13:36 | 0:13:38
You're doing well. This is going exactly as planned. | 0:13:38 | 0:13:40
Your stack looks phenomenal. Right, they haven't got long. | 0:13:40 | 0:13:43
Shall we count them down? | 0:13:43 | 0:13:45
Ten, nine, eight, seven... | 0:13:45 | 0:13:48
-Quick! -..six, five, four, three, two, one. | 0:13:48 | 0:13:53
KLAXON BLARES | 0:13:53 | 0:13:54
Time is up, there's nothing more you can do. | 0:13:54 | 0:13:56
-I like that, hands up. -I think we've done it. | 0:13:56 | 0:13:59
That looks incredible, I'm going to come to Mollie's first and taste it. | 0:13:59 | 0:14:03
Because I am the official adjudicator. How hard is my job? | 0:14:03 | 0:14:06
Mollie, these look great. | 0:14:06 | 0:14:08
-This is a lot better than rehearsals. -They're not raw! | 0:14:08 | 0:14:11
So, well done. I'm going to get a strawberry. | 0:14:11 | 0:14:13
-I'm not going to lie, Mollie, that's good. -Did I nail it? High-five. | 0:14:14 | 0:14:19
-You know it! -Yes! | 0:14:19 | 0:14:21
OK, wow! This is beautiful. | 0:14:21 | 0:14:23
Pickled onions for eyes, I like this. Beans for a mouth. | 0:14:23 | 0:14:27
I can't believe I'm going to eat this, but I am. | 0:14:27 | 0:14:30
I'm going to get a pickled onion in. Ugh! | 0:14:30 | 0:14:32
THEY LAUGH Guys! Lovely. | 0:14:32 | 0:14:35
I've now filled my mouth, unfortunately. | 0:14:35 | 0:14:38
But who do we think the winner should be? | 0:14:38 | 0:14:41
Calum! Calum! | 0:14:41 | 0:14:43
The winner... THEY CHANT | 0:14:43 | 0:14:45
..of Blue Peter's pancake-off is... | 0:14:45 | 0:14:48
It's Calum Scott! CHEERING | 0:14:48 | 0:14:51
-Fab work! Sorry. -So close, so close. | 0:14:51 | 0:14:54
You know who would have loved this, is Radzi Chinyanganya. | 0:14:54 | 0:14:57
Where's Radzi when you need him? | 0:14:57 | 0:14:59
Exactly, but fear not, we're about to see his little face, | 0:14:59 | 0:15:01
because you've been voting on which film of Radzi's | 0:15:01 | 0:15:03
you want to see again. | 0:15:03 | 0:15:04
Yes, you had the choice of watching Radzi harvesting peas, | 0:15:04 | 0:15:07
racing with a wool sack, or climbing a massive dam. | 0:15:07 | 0:15:11
That's right, and you chose... | 0:15:11 | 0:15:12
-..climbing a massive dam. -Of course. | 0:15:13 | 0:15:15
It's his best challenge, it's so good. So guys, sit back, relax... | 0:15:15 | 0:15:19
Can I just interrupt? | 0:15:19 | 0:15:20
I've just remembered, with it being your big birthday year, | 0:15:20 | 0:15:22
-I have made... -Look at this! -..some Blue Peter cupcakes! -Look! | 0:15:22 | 0:15:26
AUDIENCE WHOOP | 0:15:26 | 0:15:28
We're all going to have one, we're going to sit back | 0:15:28 | 0:15:30
and eat some cupcakes. | 0:15:30 | 0:15:32
-Enjoy this. Thank you! -You're very welcome. Get one! | 0:15:32 | 0:15:35
No! | 0:15:39 | 0:15:41 | |
Argh! What?! | 0:15:41 | 0:15:43
Oh, no! What? | 0:15:45 | 0:15:48
This is the Diga di Luzzone. | 0:15:48 | 0:15:51
And on the face of the dam | 0:15:51 | 0:15:53
is the world's tallest man-made climbing wall. | 0:15:53 | 0:15:57
That is so much bigger than I thought it was going to be. | 0:15:57 | 0:15:59
There are over 650 climbing holds from bottom to top | 0:16:01 | 0:16:05
of this massive concrete structure. | 0:16:05 | 0:16:07
From above, the dam looks huge. | 0:16:12 | 0:16:14
From the bottom, it's immense. | 0:16:14 | 0:16:17
-Right then, see you up there. -Here we go. | 0:16:17 | 0:16:19
My biggest concern is that I use my arms too much at the start | 0:16:22 | 0:16:27
and I don't have enough energy left for the finish. | 0:16:27 | 0:16:30
You ready, Radzi? | 0:16:30 | 0:16:31
Let's go. | 0:16:31 | 0:16:33
For the first few metres, there's a handy ladder. | 0:16:34 | 0:16:37
But as soon as I reach the first hold, there's no turning back, | 0:16:37 | 0:16:41
and now it's all down to me. | 0:16:41 | 0:16:44
The climb is multi-pitch, | 0:16:45 | 0:16:46
which means it has five different sections, all about 30 metres long. | 0:16:46 | 0:16:51
We'll stop at the end of every pitch before attempting to climb the next. | 0:16:51 | 0:16:54
The holds are just like indoor climbing holds, | 0:16:54 | 0:16:57
only there's a lot more of them. | 0:16:57 | 0:16:59
So, I'm now as high as I've ever been on an indoor climbing wall. | 0:16:59 | 0:17:03
So, now I've got to go this times maybe seven or eight. | 0:17:06 | 0:17:10
30 minutes in, the first pitch is done. | 0:17:13 | 0:17:15
And I know what my view is going to look like for the next new hours. | 0:17:15 | 0:17:19
And now look what is to my right. | 0:17:19 | 0:17:21
Concrete. What is to my left? | 0:17:22 | 0:17:24
Concrete. What's beneath me? | 0:17:26 | 0:17:28
A lot of concrete. | 0:17:28 | 0:17:30
But there's no time to hang around. | 0:17:36 | 0:17:38
On the face of the dam, I'm completely exposed. | 0:17:38 | 0:17:41
The sun is directly above us, it's hot and it's sapping my energy. | 0:17:41 | 0:17:46
There is still such a long way to go. | 0:17:46 | 0:17:48
It's amazing how lonely you feel. | 0:17:48 | 0:17:50
If my mum were here, she would not be happy. | 0:18:03 | 0:18:05
She'd be screaming. Saying, "Radzi, be careful." | 0:18:07 | 0:18:11
Well, Mum, that's what I'm trying to be. | 0:18:11 | 0:18:13
After a few more holds, that's another pitch done. | 0:18:15 | 0:18:18
I can safely clip in and have a moment to rest and take stock. | 0:18:18 | 0:18:22
Now you can see this part of the wall, that's straight, | 0:18:24 | 0:18:27
that's off to the side. | 0:18:27 | 0:18:29
So, this pitch goes diagonally left. And... | 0:18:29 | 0:18:33
..from what everyone's saying, | 0:18:36 | 0:18:38
this could be one of the more tricky parts to this climb. | 0:18:38 | 0:18:42
So, this is time to focus. | 0:18:42 | 0:18:43
Time to regather my thoughts, regather my energies, | 0:18:45 | 0:18:49
and give this one the beans again. | 0:18:49 | 0:18:51
I've been climbing for over two hours. | 0:18:53 | 0:18:55
It's far longer than I've ever experienced | 0:18:55 | 0:18:58
and my arms are cramping up. | 0:18:58 | 0:19:00
This makes everything so much harder. | 0:19:01 | 0:19:04
As my body starts to fail, | 0:19:06 | 0:19:08
I begin to question if I've really got it in me to make it to the top. | 0:19:08 | 0:19:12
The last few metres have really taken their toll. | 0:19:15 | 0:19:18
And at the end of this pitch, I'm completely exhausted. | 0:19:18 | 0:19:22
Aggh! Aggh! SHE LAUGHS | 0:19:22 | 0:19:24
-That was all types of bad. -I know. Well done, Radzi. | 0:19:26 | 0:19:30
But there is no way I'm giving up now. | 0:19:32 | 0:19:34
-You going to try and lead this pitch? -I'm going to try and lead it. | 0:19:34 | 0:19:37
-Yeah, good one, Radzi. -Come on. | 0:19:37 | 0:19:39
Come on, Radzi. | 0:19:40 | 0:19:42
-With less than 30 metres to go... -You all right? | 0:19:42 | 0:19:45
..I'm taking the lead. | 0:19:45 | 0:19:46
I've felt fresher, I'll be honest. | 0:19:46 | 0:19:48
My arms are tired, my legs are tired. | 0:19:52 | 0:19:56
I'm pushing myself beyond what I ever thought was possible. | 0:19:56 | 0:20:00
I've been on this dam for almost five hours, and the end is in sight. | 0:20:00 | 0:20:05
There is no stopping me now. | 0:20:06 | 0:20:09
HE GASPS | 0:20:12 | 0:20:14
Ah, yes! Yeah! | 0:20:14 | 0:20:18
HE GRUNTS Ah! | 0:20:25 | 0:20:29
Ah, ah! | 0:20:30 | 0:20:33
Oh, that was so hard. | 0:20:33 | 0:20:36
Oh, can't believe I did that. | 0:20:36 | 0:20:37
I've never been so scared... | 0:20:38 | 0:20:40
..in all of my life. | 0:20:42 | 0:20:43
The amount of times I just wanted to give up. | 0:20:44 | 0:20:46
I thought I couldn't do that. | 0:20:46 | 0:20:48
My... My arms have got nothing. | 0:20:49 | 0:20:51
No, they've got absolutely nothing left. | 0:20:53 | 0:20:55
Every part of your body is telling you to stop. | 0:20:55 | 0:20:59
And you've just got to keep on going. | 0:21:00 | 0:21:02
I feel on top of the world right now. | 0:21:02 | 0:21:07
APPLAUSE | 0:21:07 | 0:21:10
Radzi! That's one of my fave challenges he's ever done. | 0:21:10 | 0:21:13
-We love you, Radz. -He so brave, isn't he? | 0:21:13 | 0:21:15
Now, Linds, I think it's time to announce | 0:21:15 | 0:21:17
-the February Fan Of The Month. -I think it is. Cue the music! | 0:21:17 | 0:21:20
-MUSIC PLAYS -Whoo! | 0:21:20 | 0:21:23
I feel silly, because you've done Strictly. I shouldn't be doing this. | 0:21:23 | 0:21:26
I think I should be dancing better than this. | 0:21:26 | 0:21:28
Anyway, this fan is always really kind and chatty | 0:21:28 | 0:21:30
to the other fan club members. | 0:21:30 | 0:21:32
They are, they love books and they're always letting | 0:21:32 | 0:21:34
the other members know what's on the BP website. | 0:21:34 | 0:21:36
Basically, this person is a ledge. | 0:21:36 | 0:21:38
-Yes, they are, shall we take a look? -Let's do it. -Let's do it! | 0:21:38 | 0:21:42
-Drum roll... -February's Fan Of The Month is... | 0:21:42 | 0:21:44
-BOTH: -..Lilac Viola Zook! | 0:21:45 | 0:21:48
There we go, well done to you. | 0:21:48 | 0:21:50
If you want to be FOTM, that means Fan Of The Month, | 0:21:50 | 0:21:53
in March, make sure you head to the Fan Club Live | 0:21:53 | 0:21:55
and you can get involved with all of that. | 0:21:55 | 0:21:58
Now, it's worth talking about the BBC Own It campaign. | 0:21:58 | 0:22:00
This is really cool and a way to be surf-savvy, we're calling it. | 0:22:00 | 0:22:04
And how to stay safe online. | 0:22:04 | 0:22:06
So, if you head to the BBC Own It website, | 0:22:06 | 0:22:09
you can get advice on how to stay safe and happy and healthy online. | 0:22:09 | 0:22:12
Basically, how to be the boss of your own online presence, | 0:22:12 | 0:22:16
which I like the sound of. | 0:22:16 | 0:22:17
Definitely, there's also advice there from Millie Inbetween | 0:22:17 | 0:22:20
and The Next Step, and there's hints on noticing things online | 0:22:20 | 0:22:24
-that might not look quite right. -It's very important. | 0:22:24 | 0:22:26
When you've checked that out, head to the BP website, | 0:22:26 | 0:22:29
just cos it's great. | 0:22:29 | 0:22:30
-It is. -If you don't believe me, have a look at this. | 0:22:30 | 0:22:32
We have...spoon one. | 0:22:38 | 0:22:41
Oh, he's got one! | 0:22:41 | 0:22:43
This looks like a curtain. | 0:22:43 | 0:22:45
THEY LAUGH | 0:22:46 | 0:22:47
I have designed outfits for both humans and for dogs. | 0:22:47 | 0:22:51
But this is the first time I've ever designed anything for a tortoise. | 0:22:51 | 0:22:55
Erm, you know what? I don't know! | 0:22:57 | 0:23:00
I have no idea who this is. | 0:23:00 | 0:23:02
Well, there is always so much going on in the Blue Peter website | 0:23:04 | 0:23:06
and today, there's a real lot going on because Calum and I | 0:23:06 | 0:23:09
are going to be live on there and you can ask us anything you want. | 0:23:09 | 0:23:13
-Anything? Are you sure? -Anything, Linds, anything you want. | 0:23:13 | 0:23:16
I'm going to log on and get involved, quite frankly. | 0:23:16 | 0:23:18
Now, we're playing Spot Shelly, of course. | 0:23:18 | 0:23:20
-Guys, where is she hiding? -She was hiding on my top. | 0:23:20 | 0:23:24
Oh, she's right there. And who spotted Shelly? | 0:23:25 | 0:23:28
ZJ Unicorn One. | 0:23:28 | 0:23:30
Yes, what a name! Yes! | 0:23:30 | 0:23:32
Beautifully presented, maybe you should co-present next week. | 0:23:32 | 0:23:35
-I think so. -You're fantastic, both of you. Eat your cupcakes. | 0:23:35 | 0:23:38
That's nearly it for today's show. Have you had a nice time? | 0:23:38 | 0:23:40
I've had the best time, thank you so much for having me. | 0:23:40 | 0:23:42
-I loved having you here. -I loved being here. | 0:23:42 | 0:23:44
You need to pack your thermals, because on Saturday... | 0:23:44 | 0:23:47
-The Saturdays? -No, not The Saturdays! | 0:23:47 | 0:23:49
-Oh, I thought you mentioned The Saturdays. -Get over it. | 0:23:49 | 0:23:52
This Saturday on CBBC at 6.30, you can see our Winter Sports Special. | 0:23:52 | 0:23:56
It's going to be so good. | 0:23:56 | 0:23:57
Radzi and I are going head-to-head on the ice | 0:23:57 | 0:23:59
-for a bit of speed-skating. -Oh, my gosh. | 0:23:59 | 0:24:01
-That's 6.30 this Saturday... Random, I know! -Goodness me. | 0:24:01 | 0:24:04
