Today's Blue Peter is all about... ALL: Us!
We're purple badge holders, and today, we're in charge.
So get ready for some martial arts. HAH!
BOTH: Ballroom dancing!
And more of us!
So... What are you waiting for?
ALL: Run titles!
Oi! That's our bit.
Hello, welcome to live Blue Peter.
We're very excited, because today's show is all about this little guy.
It is of course the purple badge.
We love it and you can earn yours by filling out
a purple badge form which you can get from the BP website.
And by the way, over 2,000 people have already done that just
-this year and got the T-shirt.
-And the badge.
-So, over the next half an hour...
-I'm not a boy!
Yeah, girl. So over the next half an hour,
we're going to dedicate our time to making some dreams come true.
We've got an internet sensation in the studio - it's Sophia Grace!
We've also got a real-life ninja. Do what she says. It's JJ.
Oh, my goodness. Is that a sword?
And also, we've got a Spot Shelley with a purple badge twist.
Have a look at this, because Megan from Cumbria
has decided where we're going to hide little Shells today.
So, Megan, I know you're watching at home, you can't play today.
-OK, so, this Spot Shelley is on you.
Anyone else, if you can get on to the BP website when you see
little Shells, leave a comment. She gone!
I've found her, she's right there.
Ooh, sorry, that nearly got camera three. Sorry.
So, listen, Radzi's not here this week and that's because he's
away making a film about wrestling so you can imagine how happy he is.
But you can see him on the show today by voting for one of
your favourite films. You've got a choice of three.
You can see his Roller Derby
-which is just basically Radzi falling over.
He's on the floor. Or, you can see him dive off this very high board
-He looks nervous, doesn't he?
-It's actually a brilliant film, that.
-Oh, he's down again.
-Look, you can see Radzi falling over some more.
Which form of Radzi falling over would you like to see?
You got ten minutes left to get in touch,
-please head to the website, cast your vote, do it.
Now, as we said, today's show is all about you. You're in charge.
And this is what some of you said that you would do if you were
a Blue Peter guest for the day.
OK, do you know what I love about the purple badge forms?
They give you direct access to the show.
-So, today I'm on a...
-You know in rehearsal when I said,
"What could possibly go wrong on live telly?"
-That was the wrong film.
-You shouldn't have said that.
This is what you said you would do
-if you were Blue Peter Guest for the day. Let's try again.
-Shall we see if we can... Three, two, one, go.
I don't think we've got that. Let's go for the next bit.
OK, fine, let's move on.
So, we'll sort that film out for you in a bit.
I, literally, about five minutes ago said,
"It's live telly, what could possibly go wrong?"
-Shouldn't have said it. You've jinxed it.
-There's your answer.
So, we've been talking about getting you onto the show.
Especially purple badge holders. It's about giving you direct access
to our studio. Literally, the hugest round of applause, please, for the
best talents we've had in here for quite a while -
it's Jenna Grace and Noah!
MUSIC: September by Earth, Wind and Fire
-Oh, my goodness.
-They're still going.
Can we do that as part of next week's show?
-The little spin?
-I think every week, yes.
You look so good on the dance floor together.
Let's talk about your purple badge form,
shall we? Because that's how you got here.
Did you think for a second that when you filled these in,
you would be appearing on the show?
No, it just started off as homework but it's always been my dream
-to dance on this show.
-Dreams can come true. Up top.
Now, it's not just our Blue Peter audience you've been performing for,
today, you been performing in front of lots of audiences, haven't you?
Yes. Every weekend, we do a competition
on Sundays and last year,
we performed in championships in Paris and won silver.
-Let's hear it!
-Won silver, what?! CHEERING
You guys are unbelievable.
Now, listen, Barney and I need some top tips.
We fancy ourselves as a bit of... Your rivals, basically.
So, what do we need to do in order to dance for team GB?
Well, we train very hard, up to four to five times a week...
45 times a week?!
Four to five!
And we are one of the top four couples.
Are you really one of the top four?
-Another round of applause for these two.
-You guys are ridiculous!
-Thank you so much for being here.
Well, listen, your dream has come true by being on Blue Peter
and getting a purple badge, but it's not just your dream that has, OK?
Because Eliza sent in a purple badge form and she said, "All I
"want to see on BP is ballroom dancing,"
and we made that dream come true.
This was her face when we said you were on today. Have a look.
Look at that!
-That a happy customer, isn't it?
-She's very happy. She loves it.
-So, thanks. Eliza says, "Thanks."
-For now, everyone, it's
Jenna Grace and Noah - let's hear it for them.
-Thanks for getting in touch, guys.
So, that's one way the purple badge can help you out.
You can either write in and we can give you
-a badge on the show or we could just turn up at your house.
OK, do you know what I love about the purple badge forms?
They give you direct access to the show.
So, today, I'm on a mission to reward these three purple
badge viewers with their own purple badges.
-In fact, crew, where are we going today?
No need to apologise.
OK, fine, let's just set off.
So, I'm on the way to meet a girl called Olivia.
Now, Olivia wrote in and said that she likes to cheerlead.
Now, I haven't brought my pom-poms with me but I have brought you
a purple badge.
We've got Olivia's whole squad together just to surprise her.
They haven't got a clue that we're coming.
How are you? Where's Olivia? Hi, Olivia.
-How are you doing?
So, you wrote in to the show and you said that you're a cheerleader.
Which is why we're here today - to see you do a bit of cheerleading
and also, of course, to give you your very own purple badge.
-You're welcome. Round of applause for Olivia, everybody.
I watch the David Walliams show and also Lindsey and Radzi went
-to the golf course.
-Yes, they were amazing, weren't they?
If you were to decide what I was doing on the show,
what would you like to see me do?
-Forward roll, cartwheel.
-Yes, I can do that. Ready?
That was strong cheerleading! Ready? Go.
That was a very successful badge hit with Olivia and her
We are now heading to say hello to Frances who's got in touch to
say that she loves upcycling and she loves Take That.
I like a bit of Take That, myself, you know.
-# Today this could be
# The greatest day of our lives... #
Hi, Frances, how are you doing?
So, apparently, you like the David Walliams show the most and
that's why you wrote to us on your purple badge form.
And you like that Lindsey and Radzi were playing golf,
-you liked making pizzas and cakes in the mug as well, yeah?
Well, that's good. Good to see you, how are you doing?
I'm great! Oh, my gosh, I can't believe this is happening!
-Can I come in?
-Yeah, sure, if you like.
Can I get a cup of tea?
One sugar for me, please. We love upcycling on the show.
We love turning old things into new things.
Now, this is my favourite thing that you've made.
It's a sweet dispenser and it's a long piece of wood cut up and
it's got a jar with sweets and you move it and the sweets come out.
Well, I think, while we're here, it's rude not to try it, isn't it?
-Frances, you're an absolute genius.
And I think you're absolutely worthy of your very own purple badge.
-Thank you very much.
I'd like to have some pizza, wouldn't you?
-Yeah, that would be nice.
-Do you remember the pizza in the mug?
Back in the studio, Nikki Lilly
showed me how to make pizza in a cup.
So, now, it's time I showed Frances just how good it is.
And while we're eating it,
we can talk about what you think about the fan club.
I like the little, like, things where you...
Maybe, you blur something and you say, "Oh, what is this..."
-Yeah, games you can look at and more things to do.
OK, you're in charge of Blue Peter for the day and you can choose
-for me to do one thing on the show.
-Probably hula hooping.
So, do you mean I've got to do the circle thing with the
-hula hoop while I'm talking on the telly?
-I'll give it a go.
-Why not? Frances, thank you very much.
-See you soon.
Well, that was an amazing success.
Frances was really surprised, wasn't she?
For the next surprise we're off to see Rohan,
who wants to see more sports on the website.
What Rohan doesn't know is that we're going to be putting him
on the website.
This BP superfan loves skateboarding so I'm going to film him
doing his thing and put it on the Blue Peter site.
-Hey, how are you doing?
-Oh, my gosh.
That's the... Yeah, I did that at school.
Yeah, it's your purple badge form.
You've put that you want to see more sports stuff online.
-All you've got to do for me is put that on, to start off with.
Mum, is it OK if Rohan comes out to play, please?
Yes. Where's he going?
Well, you're going to need your skateboard.
Are you ready? Three, two, one.
Hello. I'm Rohan and today I'm going to be teaching you
three tricks you can do on your skateboard.
This is too easy.
Really good job, that, mate.
You are now the director of Blue Peter and you can tell
me to do anything. What do you want me to do?
There is the vert, we could slide down that.
-I've no idea what it is, but let's do it.
-OK, cool, let's go.
-OK, that's actually quite a long way down, isn't it?
-You can do it. So it's like a slide, basically.
-It's more than a slide.
-Three, two, one.
-That's how you end a film right there.
-Shall we do it again?
It just goes to show you never know what can happen if you apply
for your purple badge.
It's true. It's the coolest badge.
So I say we carry on this purple badge takeover in style,
so it's over to Sinead.
I would like to see some more young inspiring internet personalities on
the show to give people confidence in themselves and what they can do.
This will make the show even better.
Sinead, I agree.
Well, how about a young girl whose videos have been viewed
online over 500 million times? I'm not even joking. It's Sophia Grace.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
-Hello. Hello. High fives. Up top. Welcome to Blue Peter.
I'm a superfan so I'm very excited that you're here.
-I'm excited to be here.
-Are you a Blue Peter superfan as well?
-We love it. And you've got the purple badge on.
-Yeah, I have it right here.
-I like to call you a PBD,
and that's because you're a pretty big deal. Get it?
-And it's because this video, it all started with this,
it went viral. Let's have a look.
# Running away... #
-Look at you. You've even got a crown on.
52 million people have now seen that.
Did you expect it to go so huge?
No. I just used to sing all the time. I still sing.
I love to sing and so my mum filmed me and we put it on YouTube and
we just wanted to see what other people thought.
-But it went crazy, it went viral.
-Well, it did.
And some pretty big names were like, "Hey, we love this."
Yeah, well, first of all we looked at it
and it had seven views, then it had 100, then a million!
And really big, like, celebrities were, like, sharing it everywhere,
like Justin Bieber and Puff Daddy and it was just so exciting.
I would do anything for Justin Bieber to share a video of me.
That would be the best day of my life.
-Now, you're taking over the world, basically.
Cos you've got a new single out, you've interviewed pop stars,
you've been in your own movie and your new EP's called Hollywood,
-is that right?
I've heard it, it's absolutely unbelievable.
-Shall we show a clip?
-Well, we can't.
-We're going to make you play a little game, OK?
I'm going to ask you some questions about Hollywood
and for every single question that you get right,
you can have five seconds of your clip. Does that sound fair?
-Yeah. I can do it. I know I can do it.
-You can do it.
-She's got confidence.
-Of course I can do it.
-Off we go.
How many Os are there in the Hollywood sign?
Correct, well done.
Which singer found fame as Hannah Montana?
Correct. I like the point.
Whose name can we see here
on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?
Give you a clue, he's in the room somewhere,
poking his head out over there.
-Barney Harwood. Next one.
Which Hollywood is famous for baking bread?
-Great British Bake Off.
It was Paul Hollywood.
So, technically, you got ten seconds
but, yeah, I'm feeling nice and so's the director
so they said you can have the whole 20 seconds.
-Oh, that's great, then!
-Right, OK, over to camera four,
I'll let you do the honours.
I'm Sophia Grace and this is my new single Hollywood.
# I'm feeling good, so Hollywood
# Go Hollywood crazy
# Red carpet, I'mma rock it for the paparazzi
# Only in Cally where the stars come out at night
# Seeing fast cars on the boulevard
# I'm Hollywood crazy... #
CHEERING Oh, my goodness.
Sophia Grace, next time you do a video, can I be your little dancer?
-I've got those moves down.
-Now, we're crazy about Hollywood.
We're crazy about the Big Badge Wall.
Let's walk this way, come on with me. Mind the steps.
# So Hollywood, going Hollywood
# Paul Hollywood. #
Right, the Big Badge Wall right here, it's a very exciting time
for Euan in particular because he says
it's his funniest part of the show,
there are lots of pictures that make him laugh. Good to know, Euan.
Now, I've got some news.
I think we should start off with a bit of feedback, bit of criticism.
-Always healthy, isn't it? This is from Millie, she says,
"I least enjoy watching bakes." Uh-oh! But she says it's cos they,
-"come out the oven and I can't smell or taste them!"
"To make it better, someone needs to invent smellovision
"and tasteovision." Millie's got a point.
-I've been saying this for years. How awesome would it be?
Your people, my people, let's get together and make it happen.
Sophia Grace, what have you seen on there?
I saw Daniel's comment and he said that,
"I think you should play a game that involves singing.
"You have to see how high you can go and the higher the better."
It sounds like Daniel's laid down a challenge there, Sophia Grace.
-Let's see how high Daniel can go.
Daniel, it's all yours.
# Ahhhhh! #
-It's quite high for a boy, actually.
-Certainly not too bad.
-That's not bad.
-Can you do any better, Sophia Grace?
-I think I can do it.
-Oh, really? Off you go.
# Ahhhh! #
-You didn't do it that high in the rehearsals, did you?
-You just broke a camera.
-That was my favourite vase.
Well done, that was a beautiful thing.
Now, let's talk about the time the show's on, five o'clock,
unfortunately for these three people here,
they're too busy to be watching Blue Peter
because they're out doing stuff.
Lily's busy in her clubs, Amber's dancing
and Yavhi goes swimming.
Well, listen, guys, I've got some news for you.
-We're changing the time.
Next week, Blue Peter will be on from 5:30. Yeah.
-So now you can be home in time to watch the show.
-We love that.
-The power of the purple badge.
-OK, well, hopefully,
Lydia's going to be doing that.
She says, "I like all the quizzes on the website.
"I don't know why I like it,
"I just like to see how much knowledge I have."
I really like that comment. She's just gone straight to the point.
Lydia, maybe you should head on to the BP website right now
or after the show. There's a little quiz there, it says,
"Are you ready for April Fool's Day?"
It's an important day. You like it.
-I am so ready for April Fool's Day.
-I'm sure you are.
One of my favourite days, next to my birthday.
Michael and Maryam down here are martial artists,
they're also smiley artists, as you can see.
And they would like to see something on the show
but rather than me tell you about it, here's Michael.
I'm an orange belt in karate...
so I want to see more martial arts in Blue Peter.
-What a move.
-You want to see more martial arts on the telly.
Boys, can you bring it in, please?
As you can see here, we're setting the studio for an amazing display.
You two are going to love this in particular,
but you've got to wait for a second while we set it up.
-Barney, get out of the way. Mind the mats.
Big performance coming. In the meantime,
let's have a look at which of Radzi's adventures
you want to see again. The winner as voted by you guys -
oh, it was a landslide, apparently - is Radzi's diving film.
-Have a look at this!
-It's a great film.
-I love this one.
You all right, boys?
MUSIC: Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor
OK, so, not the greatest dive in the world
and it's pretty fair to say I'm not nearly ready to dive
off a board that high.
But I do know someone who is.
This brave young man is Matthew Dixon.
He's won 19 diving medals in various national competitions
and at just 14 years old,
he's already earned a spot on the England team,
making his debut at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Watch out, Tom Daley - Matthew's hot on your heels.
I'll be trained by Andy, one of Matthew's coaches.
And first up is the one-metre platform.
Bend right down, squeeze those ears tight,
look towards the blue line there.
Onto your toes first...
Fall and stretch.
That's great, I couldn't have asked for it any better than that.
That was fantastic.
So as good as that again, you'll be promoted to the next board up.
Yes! Right, OK, good.
I'm pleased about this.
And then just fall and stretch through.
'Right, this may not be so bad after all.
'Time to tackle the three-metre dive.'
-Hands grabbed, arms out, lift those arms up a little bit
so you're stretching towards the middle there onto your toes.
Fall and stretch!
Almost perfect, but you just had the legs doing this.
-I'll take it, though.
Legs nice together.
It landed the right way up but it didn't hurt.
-It's a good dive.
'Matthew was right, this is great fun.
'Five metres, here I come.
'This one's a bit higher so Matthew showed me how it's done.
'Oh, hang on a minute, this is MUCH higher than I thought.'
We've just got to do more to build up the confidence.
Every single one of these dives is a challenge,
every single one of them.
'And now it's time for the next level,
'Matthew takes me up to the 7.5-metre platform.'
Oh, my goodness gracious!
'Suddenly, disaster strikes.
'I've lost all my confidence. and the fear's really taken over.'
Have you seen how high this is?
That's the whole idea of diving, just to overcome your fears.
I think I might have met my match.
'My confidence is knocked
'but I just have to see how scary the ten-metre platform is.'
-Oh, my goodness.
-This is what we have to dive off to compete.
I can't get over this. Headfirst off this.
Matthew, how are you so comfortable up there?
You're smiling, you're close to the edge - how?
Basically, you can stand forwards...
You can stand backwards...
and then you just take off.
Did you see that?
How am I ever going to jump off here?
I need to sleep on this and come back tomorrow.
Yesterday was such a rollercoaster for me.
I had the most brilliant highs
but equally the most frustrating lows
and I just can't see how I'm going to get higher than five metres.
But Matthew and Andy might have just come up with a solution.
-We've got a new idea.
-And I like doing it cos it's really fun
and it's called the sitting-back summy.
It's just a little bit scary cos
you're going to be going off backwards.
Rock forwards and a big pull.
Yes! We're in business.
By working my way up each level,
I think my confidence is coming back!
I saw the bubbles.
OK, it's now or never.
Ten metres, here I come.
Let me just get this straight.
You and I are going to go off this together.
-We've just got to do it, don't we?
As ready as I'll ever be. Right, let's go.
We can do this.
'I did it.'
Oh, Matthew! Yes!
Oh, that was good.
'And here it is one last time.'
-I tell you what - fair play, Radzi,
you must have been so nervous.
Luckily, Matthew was looking after him the entire film.
Now, that was two years ago and since then,
Matthew's been doing really well.
In fact, here he is to tell you more about it.
Hi, Blue Peter, I'm still diving and competing.
In fact, I'm the Junior European Champion
and I won bronze at the Junior World Championships.
How amazing! Round of applause for Matthew,
who's doing a fantastic job.
Mate, keep it up, we're following your progress.
Now, our next guest is one of the most exciting people
I've seen in the studio for a long time.
Maryam and Michael wanted to see more martial arts on the show.
Before we get her out to show what can she do,
let's have a look at what she did in the series she was in.
It was called My Life: Ninja Girl. Have a look.
In a few weeks' time,
I'll be competing in the World Championships.
I really want to win gold, especially in the points fighting,
which I'm doing for my very first time.
Being a ninja is tough but I love it.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,
let's go mad for JJ "Golden Dragon".
That's how you make an entrance, isn't it?
SHE CRIES OUT
OK, I might do the interview from over here if that's all right.
JJ, so good to see you in the studio.
-Thank you for coming in.
Let's start at the very beginning. When did you start to do this?
-Well, I started tae kwon do when I was three.
I started points fighting when I was six,
I started single sword when I was eight
and now I'm on the double sword.
Now, this isn't just somebody who just goes to a class
on Tuesday and Thursday and does a bit of stretching
and punches a bag - you've got real titles.
-I've got 280 titles altogether.
I'm 21-times World Champion and 12-times European Champion.
Let's hear it for JJ, everybody. What an amazing guest!
You also made the final of Britain's Got Talent as well.
-Yeah, that was absolutely amazing.
-That is where I first saw you.
You are nothing but awesome
-and you're going to show us what you can do.
OK, you get into position. Get ready for what you need to do.
And I have to do this bit now
where I say please don't try this at home.
JJ is a trained professional and she scares me a bit.
SHE CRIES OUT
SHE CRIES OUT
SHE CRIES OUT
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING
-Oh, my goodness.
-..JJ, that is absolutely awesome.
-She's still going, she's still got the swords.
-OK, hang on a second.
-OK, it's safe.
-You're not too upset with us, are you?
We love you. Thank you for coming.
So let's talk about that burst of energy at the end,
-that's called a kiap?
Where you throw all of your energy out through words.
-Can you teach us how to do that?
It might be a nice way to end the show, I think, today.
Well... It goes punch, punch...
-I love... You really commit.
-Shall we do it?
-So it's a punch, punch, "atar".
-Ready? After three.
-One, two, three.
-Oh, it feels good.
-Yes! That feels really good.
-I'm ready for a live show.
-Bring it on, I'm ready. Who's next?
-JJ, thank you so much.
-If you want to know how to scream just like JJ,
all the details you need
are on the BP website - head there, it is so cool.
Look how high you can get your leg, it's ridiculous.
-Now, guys, I've got to ask you honestly,
what did you make of today's purple badge show?
-It was amazing.
-Thanks to you guys.
Would you like to fill out a Blue Peter purple badge form?
Well, you can. You can do just that,
there's one on the website so if you want to be part of
our really cool gang of purple badges then you can be -
just fill out one of these after the show and let us know.
You could inspire a future ep of BP.
You're very good, you know.
Let's talk about Spot Shelly.
It was a purple badge inspired one today, wasn't it?
Because Megan decided where Shelly was going to be hidden.
Megan, could you tell us where she is, please?
On my purple badge form, I said that Shelly should hide in a fish tank.
And there she is. Now it was the Sophia Grace interview,
she was just in the back of shot there in the fishbowl.
I didn't even notice her there!
got in touch first. You have won. Well done.
-You've got yourself your own villa in Italy.
-Now, the Fan Club hour...
..is straight after the show and that's where the party is.
These beautiful ballroom dancers are going to be chatting to you
and answering your question so make sure you head online, please.
Well, that's it for this week's show.
We're back next week, though, at a new time of 5:30
with a make and bake special. Make sure you're watching.
That's right, we're going to be joined by Jon Burgerman,
he's showing you how to make fake egg splats
-for an Easter prank - very cool.
Also I enter a cake-making competition, it's very cool.
As well as that, we're going to be making these
little poopy and smiley emoji biscuits. Yum!
Have a great week, everyone. Are you ready for the kiap?
