This is a live show. Want me to prove it?! (BLOWS RASPBERRY) | 6:31:04 | 6:31:07
You wouldn't get that in a pre-recorded show. | 6:31:07 | 6:31:09
We want to hear from you. Get in touch. | 6:31:09 | 6:31:12
Penn and Teller have performed on stages all over the world. | 6:31:12 | 6:31:15
We want to hear from you. If you could perform on a stage, | 6:31:15 | 6:31:18
who would it be with and what would you do? | 6:31:18 | 6:31:21
-Who would you perform with? -I would be the pianist in Take That. | 6:31:21 | 6:31:25
-I'd do all the piano playing. -Would you really? | 6:31:25 | 6:31:28
It's a big piano if you're playing it up there! | 6:31:28 | 6:31:31
Let's ask the people here. Who would you perform with? | 6:31:31 | 6:31:33
I would perform a drum solo with Will Champion. | 6:31:33 | 6:31:36
-Can you play the drums? -Yes. | 6:31:36 | 6:31:38
Great answer. Alfie, who would you perform with? | 6:31:38 | 6:31:41
I would do a black-flip on a bike with Tony Hawks. | 6:31:41 | 6:31:44
Ooh, yes, that is a quality answer! | 6:31:44 | 6:31:48
-Who would you perform with? -I would do a dance with Hacker and Dodge. | 6:31:48 | 6:31:51
Do you like them? Are they funny? | 6:31:51 | 6:31:55
-Amelia? -I would sing and dance with Little Mix. -Yes! -Great band. | 6:31:55 | 6:31:59
These are all great ideas. We're live so we want to hear from you. | 6:31:59 | 6:32:02
Head to the website: | 6:32:02 | 6:32:05
What stage would you perform on, who with and why? | 6:32:05 | 6:32:09
-We will read out your comments at the end of the show. -Follow me over here. | 6:32:09 | 6:32:12
A lovely camera shot to bring you over here. | 6:32:12 | 6:32:15
If you are loving Help My School Trip Is Magic, | 6:32:15 | 6:32:17
you will love our next guests. | 6:32:17 | 6:32:20
They are quite simply geniuses. Genii? Not too sure. | 6:32:20 | 6:32:23
Give them a huge round of applause. Masters of magic, Penn and Teller. | 6:32:23 | 6:32:27
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING | 6:32:27 | 6:32:29
-Hello. -Hello, hi! -Welcome to the show. | 6:32:33 | 6:32:36
-Good to see you. -Thank you for being here. | 6:32:36 | 6:32:38
And you're wearing your Blue Peter badge. | 6:32:38 | 6:32:40
I have the pin right here. I don't think you gave Teller one yet. | 6:32:40 | 6:32:43
-I'm sorry, I forgot to. But that is yours. -Teller wants a green one. | 6:32:43 | 6:32:47
Oh... | 6:32:47 | 6:32:49 | |
OK, now he has a green one. That's all good. | 6:32:49 | 6:32:51
That's what we're here to talk about - magic. Now you're on tour. | 6:32:51 | 6:32:55
Yes, we'll be playing right here in Manchester. | 6:32:55 | 6:32:58
We will play in Birmingham. | 6:32:58 | 6:32:59
We'll play London, starting about June 12th | 6:32:59 | 6:33:03
and going through June 22nd. | 6:33:03 | 6:33:05
We'll be over here with a lot of the big tricks from Vegas. | 6:33:05 | 6:33:08
Everything you do is incredible. | 6:33:08 | 6:33:11
Every time you perform any kind of magic, | 6:33:11 | 6:33:13
every audience member is staring, wondering, how did they do that? | 6:33:13 | 6:33:17
And that is the joy of magic. If someone is watching, | 6:33:17 | 6:33:20
maybe picking up a pack of cards for the first time, | 6:33:20 | 6:33:22
and wants to be a magician like you, what advice would you give? | 6:33:22 | 6:33:25
It's a different time from when we learnt. Now you have the internet. | 6:33:25 | 6:33:29
The internet is the best way to learn anything. | 6:33:29 | 6:33:31
If you see a trick you like, chances are, | 6:33:31 | 6:33:34
with some clever searching on the internet, | 6:33:34 | 6:33:38
you can find the basics of that trick, how to start or how to learn. | 6:33:38 | 6:33:42
With all that at your fingertips, you want to make sure | 6:33:42 | 6:33:45
that you look inside your heart | 6:33:45 | 6:33:47
at the stuff you want to say and also read a lot. | 6:33:47 | 6:33:50
Even when you can see the video, it's still better to read | 6:33:50 | 6:33:53
and get that into your imagination. It'll help you develop stuff | 6:33:53 | 6:33:56
To be successful, you have to try your hardest. You can't cheat at it. | 6:33:56 | 6:34:01
Well, magic IS cheating. Ha-ha! | 6:34:01 | 6:34:03
Magic is one thing where you're going to want to cheat! | 6:34:03 | 6:34:07
You have made a business out of it with a silent partner. | 6:34:07 | 6:34:10
-You literally have a silent partner. -Teller doesn't talk when we work. | 6:34:10 | 6:34:14
He started working silently before he started to work with me. | 6:34:14 | 6:34:16
When he did magic in school, he got sick of people heckling him. | 6:34:16 | 6:34:20
He found out that if he just shut up, people grew tired of heckling. | 6:34:20 | 6:34:24
And also he got interested in the idea of lying without speaking, | 6:34:24 | 6:34:28
making the audience tell lies to themselves. | 6:34:28 | 6:34:31
I would love to do an interview with, Teller, | 6:34:31 | 6:34:33
to see if we could do it for a long amount of time. That would be good. | 6:34:33 | 6:34:37
I presume you can do magic with absolutely anything? | 6:34:37 | 6:34:39
You told me to bring these two cans here. | 6:34:39 | 6:34:41
We have two soda cans here. | 6:34:41 | 6:34:43
And I'm going to do a trick for you with these two soda cans. | 6:34:43 | 6:34:46
You know they're both carbonated, | 6:34:46 | 6:34:48
these two beverages. You can see these hands look normal, | 6:34:48 | 6:34:52
but actually they have incredible powers over carbonation. | 6:34:52 | 6:34:56
-Over the fizz in the drink? -Over the fizz in the drink. | 6:34:56 | 6:34:59
These are the hands that control the fizz in the drink | 6:34:59 | 6:35:02
and I want you to pick either one of these two cans. | 6:35:02 | 6:35:05
OK. Are you doing that thing where you try to make me choose one? | 6:35:05 | 6:35:08
Maybe I am. You can change if you like. | 6:35:08 | 6:35:11
That one was closer to you, so maybe you want to take that one. | 6:35:11 | 6:35:14
You can take the other one further away from you. | 6:35:14 | 6:35:17
You could go, you want to go with that one? | 6:35:17 | 6:35:19
I'll take the original one. Let's give it a spin. | 6:35:19 | 6:35:23
The trick will only work if you happen to pick the exact one. | 6:35:23 | 6:35:26
-Did you pick the right one? -Yes. -Shake it up. -Shake it? | 6:35:26 | 6:35:29
Shake it, shake it like a freak, shake it like a freak! Like a freak! | 6:35:29 | 6:35:33
Shake it! Shake it! Shake it! More, more, shake it! Make it pop! | 6:35:33 | 6:35:37
-Shake it, shake it, shake it! -Right. | 6:35:37 | 6:35:39
-Tired? -Yeah. -Shake it some more. | 6:35:39 | 6:35:42
Hop up and down. Shake it, shake it, shake it. Here's the important part. | 6:35:42 | 6:35:45
You want to keep track of which one you shook up. | 6:35:45 | 6:35:47
Place it there. That's the one that's been shaken up, | 6:35:47 | 6:35:50
that's the one that's placid. | 6:35:50 | 6:35:52
That's the one that's shaken up, that's the one that's placid, OK? | 6:35:52 | 6:35:55
So this is the one that's shaken up, this is the one that's placid. | 6:35:55 | 6:35:59
I can take my hands right here, I take the power of the shaken up one. | 6:35:59 | 6:36:03
I take all that fizz out, I move it into my body, | 6:36:03 | 6:36:06
I move it across my body and take all that fizz | 6:36:06 | 6:36:09
and put it into the one that is placid. | 6:36:09 | 6:36:12
That's the one that's calm. | 6:36:12 | 6:36:14
Note that's the one that is full of anxiety, | 6:36:14 | 6:36:17
that's the one that's shook up. | 6:36:17 | 6:36:19
For all intents and purposes, you shook that one up | 6:36:19 | 6:36:21
but this is the one you shook up and when I open this, | 6:36:21 | 6:36:24
if I didn't have the power of carbonation, | 6:36:24 | 6:36:26
-when I open this one, it would pop like crazy. Ready? -Yeah. | 6:36:26 | 6:36:29
-Nothing to it. Just a refreshing drink. -Wow. OK. | 6:36:29 | 6:36:33
And this is the one that was completely placid. | 6:36:33 | 6:36:37
You hadn't shaken this at all. Not at all. And yet! | 6:36:37 | 6:36:41
APPLAUSE AND LAUGHTER | 6:36:41 | 6:36:43
It blows up like this because I have the power of carbonation. | 6:36:43 | 6:36:47
-There's still some left in there. -Thank you very much. | 6:36:47 | 6:36:50
-That's surprisingly cold. -Refreshing. -Definitely true. | 6:36:50 | 6:36:55
You are magic. You took the fizz from one can, put it in the other | 6:36:55 | 6:36:58
-and I can prove that absolutely. -You sure can. | 6:36:58 | 6:37:00
-You'll come back for more later? -After your wet T-shirt contest. | 6:37:00 | 6:37:03
I'm going to get a bath first if that's OK. | 6:37:03 | 6:37:05
A huge round of applause for Penn and Teller. | 6:37:05 | 6:37:08
We absolutely loved that, didn't we? | 6:37:11 | 6:37:13
We can't wait to see more from Penn and Teller later in the show. | 6:37:13 | 6:37:16
Now, fearless outdoor fanatic, Bear Grylls, knows a thing or two | 6:37:16 | 6:37:20
about survival, so a few weeks ago I went to meet him, armed with | 6:37:20 | 6:37:23
just your questions to find out a bit more from the man himself. | 6:37:23 | 6:37:26
Bear Grylls, there is nothing this ex-SAS trooper doesn't know | 6:37:28 | 6:37:32
about surviving extreme environments. | 6:37:32 | 6:37:35
He's led record-breaking expeditions to the world's extremes, | 6:37:35 | 6:37:38
climbed cliffs jumped from helicopters, | 6:37:38 | 6:37:42
and even eaten scorpions. | 6:37:42 | 6:37:44
You could say he wrote the book on extreme survival. | 6:37:46 | 6:37:49
There is one thing this tough guy has never had to contend with. | 6:37:49 | 6:37:52
And that's me, Lindsey Russell. | 6:37:52 | 6:37:55
-Hi there, nice to meet you. -Nice to meet you too. | 6:37:55 | 6:37:57
Now I've got a bit of a Blue Peter challenge for you today. | 6:37:57 | 6:38:00
-Can you build a den out of these items? -Yeah, piece of cake. | 6:38:00 | 6:38:03
I've got a groundsheet, we'll lay that out on the ground | 6:38:08 | 6:38:11
so when you sit down, you don't get wet. We've got some rope. | 6:38:11 | 6:38:14
I always say, if you don't know knots, do lots. | 6:38:14 | 6:38:17
-Then we've got a duvet cover, love the colour. -I really like it. | 6:38:17 | 6:38:20
-Flowery and pink, quite camouflaged. -This will keep the predators away. | 6:38:20 | 6:38:25
Grab an acorn, put it inside, and then you see it holds it in place, | 6:38:25 | 6:38:30
so when you pull it, it's not going to come off. | 6:38:30 | 6:38:33
And we've got some sticks. | 6:38:33 | 6:38:35
If you want to know one knot, this is my favourite, | 6:38:35 | 6:38:37
it's called a clove hitch. | 6:38:37 | 6:38:39
You make a loop and then another loop, one in front of the other, | 6:38:39 | 6:38:43
stick through it, pull it tight, and that will secure it. | 6:38:43 | 6:38:47
Very nice job. | 6:38:49 | 6:38:50
We are going to make a fire without any matches, | 6:38:57 | 6:39:00
without any lighter, no blow torches, nothing. | 6:39:00 | 6:39:03
That would be my first port of call. | 6:39:03 | 6:39:05
-We're just going to make it with that. -Wow. | 6:39:05 | 6:39:07
It's just called a fire steel. | 6:39:07 | 6:39:09
What you're doing, bring that down and you're striking, | 6:39:09 | 6:39:11
and you get a flame. | 6:39:11 | 6:39:13
I'll tell you what, we'll get you to do this. Go. | 6:39:13 | 6:39:16
You made it look so easy. 'Always stay safe around fire. | 6:39:18 | 6:39:22
'If you haven't got Bear to help, make sure you grab a grown-up.' | 6:39:22 | 6:39:25
-Yes! -You've done it. OK. | 6:39:25 | 6:39:27
Now we get this onto it and then we get the kindling. | 6:39:27 | 6:39:30
Now, all fires need three things, it's called the fire triangle. | 6:39:30 | 6:39:34
It needs heat, fuel and oxygen. | 6:39:34 | 6:39:36
And if you don't have one of those things, the fire, like you, | 6:39:36 | 6:39:39
is going to die. | 6:39:39 | 6:39:41
So this has the heat that came from our initial spark, the fuel, | 6:39:41 | 6:39:46
in all this nice wood, | 6:39:46 | 6:39:47
and the reason we do this crisscrossed like a square | 6:39:47 | 6:39:50
is that it keeps the oxygen going in. | 6:39:50 | 6:39:52
-Only one thing for it, I think we need a cup of tea. -Yes! | 6:39:52 | 6:39:55
Cheers. | 6:39:55 | 6:39:56
We're going to do something now that I like to call Grilling Bear Grylls. | 6:39:56 | 6:40:00
Bluegreensparklyacorn says, "What was your most frightening, | 6:40:04 | 6:40:08
"terrifying, heart-thumping experience?" | 6:40:08 | 6:40:11
Probably when I broke my back in a free-fall parachute accident. | 6:40:11 | 6:40:14
-I should have died, but survived. -Lived to tell the tale. | 6:40:14 | 6:40:17
Bluenetballelephant says, "What was the naughtiest thing | 6:40:17 | 6:40:20
-"you did at school?" -Probably the naughtiest was putting | 6:40:20 | 6:40:22
somebody's underpants on the top of the school flagpole. | 6:40:22 | 6:40:25
-It was on the top of this very high spire. -Did you get told off? | 6:40:25 | 6:40:29
-Well, they never found out who it was. -Well, they know now. | 6:40:29 | 6:40:32
Amberleapinglemur says, "If you were an animal, what would it be?" | 6:40:32 | 6:40:36
I'd quite like to be my dog, because he has the most nice, relaxed life. | 6:40:36 | 6:40:40
-He lies on his back, gets his tummy scratched. -Living the dream. | 6:40:40 | 6:40:43
In the wild, probably an eagle, just for sheer fun of flying. | 6:40:43 | 6:40:47
Beryltinyapricot says, | 6:40:47 | 6:40:49
-"What is the most disgusting thing you've eaten?" -Probably elephant poo. | 6:40:49 | 6:40:53
-In the wilds of Kenya. -Why did you do that? | 6:40:53 | 6:40:57
You can drink the juice out of elephant dung because they have | 6:40:57 | 6:41:00
such fast digestion, it's almost sterile when it comes out. | 6:41:00 | 6:41:03
-It just might save your life, Lindsey. -I'll bear it in mind. | 6:41:03 | 6:41:06
Zoocompostgirl says, "Hello, what is your favourite ice cream flavour | 6:41:06 | 6:41:10
-"and why?" Another really important one here. -Probably raspberry ripple. | 6:41:10 | 6:41:15
Quite specific. | 6:41:15 | 6:41:17
And last but not least, Creamsmilingcondor says, | 6:41:17 | 6:41:20
"Which animal or insect are you scared of?" | 6:41:20 | 6:41:23
Is there anything Bear Grylls is scared of? | 6:41:23 | 6:41:25
I'm careful of tarantulas because their hairs can kill you. | 6:41:25 | 6:41:29
If you don't cook that tarantula well enough and swallow it | 6:41:29 | 6:41:32
-and it's still got hairs, it'll kill you. -I love that you said "cook". | 6:41:32 | 6:41:35
I was expecting you to say "hold" or "look at one" | 6:41:35 | 6:41:37
-but you're giving tips on cooking tarantula. -I've eaten loads! | 6:41:37 | 6:41:40
They're delicious if you burn them enough. | 6:41:40 | 6:41:43
Again, I'm going to leave that one to you. | 6:41:43 | 6:41:45
Bear, thank you. It's been great. Thanks for the den. | 6:41:45 | 6:41:48
You're probably not going to want to spend any more time camping now! | 6:41:48 | 6:41:51
No. | 6:41:51 | 6:41:52 | |
Barney, I don't think you quite got the hang of this camping malarkey. | 6:41:54 | 6:41:57
I can't quite work it out. But then I don't have a tree, | 6:41:57 | 6:42:00
do I, or rope or a Bear Grylls, | 6:42:00 | 6:42:03
for that matter. I look more like a pink ghost. It's not great. | 6:42:03 | 6:42:07
Let's just do the interview. David, what do you like about...? | 6:42:07 | 6:42:11
-No, Barney, that's not David, that's Emily. -I can't see anything. | 6:42:11 | 6:42:14
-Radzi, you do it. -I'm not Radzi. There you go, Radz. | 6:42:14 | 6:42:17
David, you're an outdoor enthusiast. | 6:42:17 | 6:42:19
What do you get up to when you're outdoors? | 6:42:19 | 6:42:21
We grow potatoes, beans, onions and more in our lovely garden. | 6:42:21 | 6:42:25
That's very impressive. In fact, I think we've a picture | 6:42:25 | 6:42:27
of you in action with Jessica and Emily. There you are, | 6:42:27 | 6:42:30
planting away at school. That looks very cool. | 6:42:30 | 6:42:33
And Jessica, you actually won an award, didn't you? | 6:42:33 | 6:42:35
-Tell us about that. -We won Young Gardener of the Year 2014. | 6:42:35 | 6:42:39
Yes to that title! Well done. And Emily, what did you do to earn that? | 6:42:39 | 6:42:43
We had to design a fun garden | 6:42:43 | 6:42:45
and I put a rainbow waterfall in mine. | 6:42:45 | 6:42:48
A rainbow waterfall?! That's amazing. | 6:42:48 | 6:42:50
High five! Low five! There we go! Well done, guys. | 6:42:50 | 6:42:53
Yeah, congratulations, guys. You win £1 million. I'm only joking, | 6:42:53 | 6:42:56
you don't win anything. But you do get a green Blue Peter badge | 6:42:56 | 6:42:59
which is more than money can buy. Now take a look at this. | 6:42:59 | 6:43:01
It's called the Badge Wall because it's badge-shaped. | 6:43:01 | 6:43:04
Have a look and see if you can spot your picture. | 6:43:04 | 6:43:07
This is how you earn a green Blue Peter badge. | 6:43:07 | 6:43:10
This is from Thomas from Staffordshire | 6:43:10 | 6:43:12
and he's made a plaque. He's varnished it | 6:43:12 | 6:43:14
and it's even double-sided with the green Blue Peter badge. | 6:43:14 | 6:43:17
Well done, Thomas. | 6:43:17 | 6:43:19
And then this one here is from Rebecca from Somerset. | 6:43:19 | 6:43:21
This is all about hedgehogs and how you should keep them safe | 6:43:21 | 6:43:24
and I couldn't agree with you more, | 6:43:24 | 6:43:26
but it's a very impressive hedgehog but it's not a hand hedgehog! | 6:43:26 | 6:43:31
That's what Grace has made there. That is genius, Grace! I love that! | 6:43:31 | 6:43:34
-He's all fingers. -Hey! -What about this one? -Indeed. | 6:43:34 | 6:43:38
A few weeks ago I was on the beach, I did a litter pick | 6:43:38 | 6:43:41
and that's inspired Annabel. | 6:43:41 | 6:43:43
There's my spring-like hair there, buckets and spades. | 6:43:43 | 6:43:46
We picked up loads of litter. I think there was about 165 kilos. | 6:43:46 | 6:43:50
-I don't like the whale. -You're not a big fan of whales, are you? | 6:43:50 | 6:43:53
-No, it's scaring me. -It's a lovely country. | 6:43:53 | 6:43:56
-You know how this was inspired by what you did? -Yes. | 6:43:56 | 6:43:58
Well, Lucy saw Foxes perform on the show last week | 6:43:58 | 6:44:01
and she didn't draw this because of that, she just drew a fox. | 6:44:01 | 6:44:04
It's lovely. The eyes are very similar to Foxes', | 6:44:04 | 6:44:07
and the nose is wet like hers was. | 6:44:07 | 6:44:08
Thank you very much. It's a brilliant picture. | 6:44:08 | 6:44:10
Now Anna down here is my favourite this week | 6:44:10 | 6:44:13
because this is a 3D picture. Anna is nine and from Hampshire. | 6:44:13 | 6:44:16
And look, this has got a little bit of a 3D bounce, why is that? | 6:44:16 | 6:44:20
-Because it's spring. -We write all our own stuff by the way. | 6:44:20 | 6:44:24
-You can use that one. -Anna has also written a lovely poem inside. | 6:44:24 | 6:44:27
Thank you. But this is just genius at the back. | 6:44:27 | 6:44:30
Her dad is very talented and creative | 6:44:30 | 6:44:32
and he's actually made the bird box that she drew. | 6:44:32 | 6:44:35
If you look at the centre of the photo, | 6:44:35 | 6:44:37
you'll see the bird has made a visit there. | 6:44:37 | 6:44:39
Congratulations, guys, thanks for sending us your stuff, | 6:44:39 | 6:44:42
and everyone who has get themselves a green Blue Peter badge. | 6:44:42 | 6:44:46
Now we absolutely love The Next Step, don't we? | 6:44:46 | 6:44:48
You might remember that a few weeks ago, | 6:44:48 | 6:44:50
we had The Next Step here in the studio and after the show, | 6:44:50 | 6:44:53
I caught up with them and set them a very difficult make challenge. | 6:44:53 | 6:44:56
Hi, cast of The Next Step. We've got Lamar, Brittany and Trevor. | 6:44:57 | 6:45:00
Thank you for coming in today. | 6:45:00 | 6:45:02
It's great to see you're wearing your Blue Peter badges with pride. | 6:45:02 | 6:45:05
I'm going to show you how to turn this hoodie | 6:45:05 | 6:45:08
into something pretty cool later. I'm not going to tell you what it is. | 6:45:08 | 6:45:12
It's going to be a surprise. | 6:45:12 | 6:45:13
-Is this the kind of thing you would wear to dance class? -Definitely. | 6:45:13 | 6:45:16
-For sure. -I wear this practically every day. | 6:45:16 | 6:45:19
So we're going to show you how to wear this to dance class | 6:45:19 | 6:45:21
and turn it into something cool after class. | 6:45:21 | 6:45:24
If you're feeling hot and sweaty, you can just change it into something. | 6:45:24 | 6:45:27
Now we are all loving The Next Step in the UK. We are all hooked. | 6:45:27 | 6:45:30
What is the best thing about being in that show? | 6:45:30 | 6:45:32
The fact that we get to do what we love as a career, as a job. | 6:45:32 | 6:45:36
We get to go there every day and just dance. | 6:45:36 | 6:45:38
I think that's pretty awesome. | 6:45:38 | 6:45:39
You guys are all fantastic dancers, so for somebody watching who thinks, | 6:45:39 | 6:45:43
I really want to get into dancing, what's your big piece of advice? | 6:45:43 | 6:45:46
Just start doing it, honestly. Lamar is a perfect example. | 6:45:46 | 6:45:49
He never had any training. | 6:45:49 | 6:45:51
-I'm a self-taught dancer from a very young age. -Wow! | 6:45:51 | 6:45:54
I mean, I got the show being self-taught | 6:45:54 | 6:45:57
-and everything like that. -Just go for it. | 6:45:57 | 6:46:00
So try it in your room, try it at home, in the garden. | 6:46:00 | 6:46:04
-Dance with some people. -Now we are going to get started. | 6:46:04 | 6:46:06
I'm going to show you exactly how to make these. | 6:46:06 | 6:46:08
So watch carefully because you might need to do it later. | 6:46:08 | 6:46:12
All you need to make this, it is very simple. | 6:46:12 | 6:46:14
You need a hoodie and elastic bands | 6:46:14 | 6:46:16
or hair bobbles you might find lying around at home. | 6:46:16 | 6:46:18
And all the details are on the website | 6:46:18 | 6:46:21
if you miss any of the instructions: | 6:46:21 | 6:46:23
But you won't, because it's very simple. | 6:46:23 | 6:46:25
So the first thing you need to do is take the left arm of your hoodie | 6:46:25 | 6:46:29
and then just gently get it through the pocket like so. | 6:46:29 | 6:46:33
So it comes out the other side. | 6:46:33 | 6:46:35
The next thing you need to do is get the right arm of the hoodie | 6:46:35 | 6:46:39
and this time you need to put it | 6:46:39 | 6:46:41
through the left arm so it goes through. | 6:46:41 | 6:46:43
Now you don't want that to come undone | 6:46:43 | 6:46:46
so this is where your hair bobbles come in very handy. | 6:46:46 | 6:46:49
You need to just grab that. | 6:46:49 | 6:46:51
This is really just to secure it so that the arms | 6:46:51 | 6:46:54
stay together like so. | 6:46:54 | 6:46:56
It doesn't have to be neat because the next step - the next step! | 6:46:56 | 6:47:00
-Ahh! -No pun intended! | 6:47:00 | 6:47:02
The next step is fold that through so the arms are in the pockets, | 6:47:02 | 6:47:05
so it looks like you've got your arms in your pockets. OK? | 6:47:05 | 6:47:08
Then you need to go to the hood and just really carefully pull | 6:47:08 | 6:47:12
that together like so until it is as tight as you can get it. | 6:47:12 | 6:47:15
And then again we need to secure that. | 6:47:15 | 6:47:17
That is how simple this Blue Peter make is. | 6:47:17 | 6:47:19
Swivel this upside down. | 6:47:19 | 6:47:22
Because this is going to be the top of your rucksack. | 6:47:22 | 6:47:27
No way! | 6:47:27 | 6:47:29
-How good is that?! -Cool! You can put stuff in there. | 6:47:29 | 6:47:33
It's not going to fall out the bottom and you can go to dance class. | 6:47:33 | 6:47:36
-And you've got a little tail. -I've got a little tail. | 6:47:36 | 6:47:39
-That's really creative. -Not bad, eh? | 6:47:39 | 6:47:42
Now, guys, it would not be a Blue Peter challenge without | 6:47:42 | 6:47:44
getting you involved, so I hope you were watching carefully. Were you? | 6:47:44 | 6:47:47
It is very simple and we need all three of you to have a go | 6:47:47 | 6:47:51
and see how quickly you could turn your hoodies into a rucksack. Ready? | 6:47:51 | 6:47:55
On your marks, get set, make. | 6:47:57 | 6:47:59
Lamar's off to a very neat start. | 6:48:01 | 6:48:03
Well done, Brittany. Oh, Trevor seems to be in the lead. | 6:48:04 | 6:48:08
Are you creative, Lamar? Are you good at this kind of thing? | 6:48:08 | 6:48:11
-Yes, I would say so myself. -We'll see. He's already on the hood. | 6:48:11 | 6:48:17
The hood's gone a little bit skew-whiff. | 6:48:19 | 6:48:22
Brittany, not far behind. Oh! | 6:48:25 | 6:48:27
Yes! Brittany is the winner! | 6:48:32 | 6:48:35
-Show us, Brittany. Do a nice spin? -I want to put some stuff in that. | 6:48:35 | 6:48:40
Yes. | 6:48:40 | 6:48:41 | |
Lamar, you've let yourself down. Both of you boys did. Brittany, well done. | 6:48:41 | 6:48:45
The Next Step, thank you so much for coming in today. | 6:48:45 | 6:48:48
Remember all the details are on our website: | 6:48:48 | 6:48:51
Thank you for coming in. | 6:48:51 | 6:48:53
You know what, we are all hooked to the show. | 6:48:53 | 6:48:55
We cannot wait to keep watching the episodes. Thank you. | 6:48:55 | 6:48:57
They are such a nice bunch of guys. | 6:49:00 | 6:49:01
If you want to catch the next episode of The Next Step, | 6:49:01 | 6:49:04
you can see it on Monday at 5pm here on CBBC. | 6:49:04 | 6:49:07
So from one lovely bunch of dancers to another, | 6:49:07 | 6:49:09
would you please give it up for Ruff Diamond! | 6:49:09 | 6:49:12
-Wow. Welcome to Blue Peter. How are you? -We are very good, thank you. | 6:49:14 | 6:49:19
How did you guys start dancing? | 6:49:19 | 6:49:21
We were all schoolfriends and we just made use of my mum's dance studio | 6:49:21 | 6:49:25
when it was empty. And it just went from there. | 6:49:25 | 6:49:28
How do you go from that level to be the 2013 UK hip-hop champions? | 6:49:28 | 6:49:32
I'd say, obviously hard work. | 6:49:32 | 6:49:34
And just studying the history of dance, | 6:49:34 | 6:49:37
working hard, working together, and being yourself. | 6:49:37 | 6:49:40
It's really important that you're individual and original. | 6:49:40 | 6:49:42
And Zac, what's the coolest place you've ever performed? | 6:49:42 | 6:49:45
We actually performed in Greece. | 6:49:45 | 6:49:47
A little girl saw us on another TV show | 6:49:47 | 6:49:51
and her mum flew us all over to Athens to perform at her sweet 16, | 6:49:51 | 6:49:55
so we got to fly over to Athens, danced at her birthday party | 6:49:55 | 6:49:59
and got to live in a tennis club for the weekend, which was amazing. | 6:49:59 | 6:50:04
And bring us right up to the present day, what's next for Ruff Diamond? | 6:50:04 | 6:50:07
We've been touring a lot, gigging, performing around the country, | 6:50:07 | 6:50:10
so now we are going to get back into competing | 6:50:10 | 6:50:12
cos that's where we are at our best. | 6:50:12 | 6:50:14
And hopefully put on the kind of hip-hop show, | 6:50:14 | 6:50:17
a bit of hip-hop theatre, something to test ourselves. | 6:50:17 | 6:50:20
We look forward to that. But before then, | 6:50:20 | 6:50:22
you've got a very special performance. | 6:50:22 | 6:50:24
I cannot wait. Take it away. | 6:50:24 | 6:50:26

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING | 6:52:38 | 6:52:41
What an amazing performance. Thank you very much to Ruff Diamond. | 6:52:45 | 6:52:48
Radzi taught them everything they know. | 6:52:48 | 6:52:50
Now, shows and performances come in all shapes and sizes. | 6:52:50 | 6:52:52
We saw one artform there in dance and now we're going to see magic. | 6:52:52 | 6:52:56
My personal favourite, there is nobody in the world as good | 6:52:56 | 6:52:58
as these two, in my opinion. Please give a huge round of applause | 6:52:58 | 6:53:01
for Penn and Teller. | 6:53:01 | 6:53:03
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING | 6:53:03 | 6:53:04
Thank you. | 6:53:04 | 6:53:06
We're going to do the oldest trick in all of magic, the cups and balls. | 6:53:06 | 6:53:10
We've travelled all over the world, seen street performers | 6:53:10 | 6:53:14
all over the world, and just about every magician you ever meet | 6:53:14 | 6:53:17
has their own version of the cups and balls. | 6:53:17 | 6:53:19
And the trick doesn't change very much but the props do. | 6:53:19 | 6:53:22
Like in China, they have these wonderful metal cups, | 6:53:22 | 6:53:25
handed down generation to generation. | 6:53:25 | 6:53:28
In India, they have these handcarved wooden cups, | 6:53:28 | 6:53:31
but we are representing the United States of America | 6:53:31 | 6:53:34
so we used plastic cups, and aluminium foil balls. | 6:53:34 | 6:53:39
And in our version of the cups and ball, it starts like this. | 6:53:39 | 6:53:45
We take the ball, we place it in our hands. We vanish it. | 6:53:45 | 6:53:48
It appears underneath the cup. | 6:53:48 | 6:53:51
That's how it's done all over the world. | 6:53:51 | 6:53:52
We take the ball and we place it in our hands, | 6:53:52 | 6:53:54
we vanish it and it appears underneath the cup. | 6:53:54 | 6:53:57
Here's a little variation Teller came up with. | 6:53:57 | 6:54:00
He takes the ball, places it in his hand, | 6:54:00 | 6:54:02
shows us where it is in the cup and it still appears underneath the cup. | 6:54:02 | 6:54:05
Now we take that centre ball | 6:54:05 | 6:54:07
and place it, visibly, underneath the centre cup, | 6:54:07 | 6:54:10
the two side balls, they still regroup underneath the centre cup. | 6:54:10 | 6:54:14
I'm going to come over here, and do a little bit of juggling, | 6:54:14 | 6:54:17
and while I'm juggling, | 6:54:17 | 6:54:19
a giant ball appears beneath the centre cup. | 6:54:19 | 6:54:21
One more giant ball on either side, and, of course, | 6:54:21 | 6:54:24
for the finish, it's an American baseball. | 6:54:24 | 6:54:28
And that's the American cups and balls. | 6:54:32 | 6:54:34
We've been doing the American cups and balls for a while, | 6:54:34 | 6:54:37
we wanted to kind of zoom in and do a Penn and Teller cups | 6:54:37 | 6:54:40
and balls, which involves breaking a few rules of magic. | 6:54:40 | 6:54:44
Now, the first rule of magic is you never do the same trick twice. | 6:54:44 | 6:54:48
So we are going to do the same trick twice. | 6:54:48 | 6:54:51
Second rule of magic is you never tell an audience | 6:54:51 | 6:54:55
how a trick is being done. | 6:54:55 | 6:54:57
So I'm going to tell you exactly how the trick is being done. | 6:54:57 | 6:55:01
The third rule of magic is you never let the audience | 6:55:01 | 6:55:05
see your secret preparation. | 6:55:05 | 6:55:07
They must not know what is hidden in which pocket. | 6:55:07 | 6:55:13
And the fourth rule of magic is unwritten. | 6:55:13 | 6:55:16
We think any magician in the world would agree with us in a second, | 6:55:16 | 6:55:20
that you never ever do the cups and balls with clear plastic cups. | 6:55:20 | 6:55:26
So here is the Penn and Teller version of the cups and balls. | 6:55:26 | 6:55:31
We take the first ball, pretend to place it in our hands, | 6:55:31 | 6:55:34
having already snuck it underneath the first cup. | 6:55:34 | 6:55:37
The second ball, simultaneously secreted beneath the cup. | 6:55:37 | 6:55:40
Place it in our hand and show it. | 6:55:40 | 6:55:42
The third and final ball, pretend to place it in our hand, | 6:55:42 | 6:55:45
pretend to place it in the cup, then secretly reveal it. | 6:55:45 | 6:55:49
Now the second half, three balls on top, | 6:55:49 | 6:55:52
the centre ball placed in the cup. | 6:55:52 | 6:55:54
