Building Bridges Clangers

Here is our Earth, where, in the deepest oceans and remotest

forests, there are new creatures that we've yet to discover.

New friends, with their own needs and their own special little

ways that we must respect so we may live together in harmony.

And as we travel across the far reaches of space,

we find the Clangers' planet, where they too have their special

little ways, and perhaps new friends to discover as well.

Here's Tiny Clanger, playing music with the music trees.

She does this every day.

It's her routine.

-He's been fishing in the music boat.

He does this every day, too.

Granny Clanger always takes a brisk walk before a nap.

This is her little routine.

Oh, look. It's Major Clanger.

He's made a new table!

He's inventing and making new things every day, without fail.

Major wants to replace the old table with his new one.

Mother quite liked the old one.

-Well, she's willing to give it a try.

Oh, dear. Major's new table isn't strong enough.

Mother Clanger knows what to do.

Tiny and Small must go and get more soup,

while she and Major clean up the mess.

Off they go to see the Soup Dragon, for more soup.

The same way every day.

Whistling their harmonious little tune.

Phew! They're both OK.

But the soup trolley isn't.

Peculiar. It's a bump on the ground.

-Small's right. It must be a new bump

because they travel down the tunnel every day for soup

and have never noticed it before.

Yes, that's for the best.

So they'll never trip over it again.

Ah, that's right!

They'd better get the soup trolley back to the living cave

so it can be fixed.

Oh...

Look at that!

Good to see the old table back in use again,

back where it belongs.

-Do-do doo, doo doo.

-Mother Clanger is most concerned.

She wants to know what happened, and if they're OK.

Doo! Do-do doo, doo.

They tell Mother Clanger they're fine,

but that's more than can be said for the soup trolley.

Doo... Do-doo do, do doo.

Major is going to fetch his tools.

Ah. Well done, Mother Clanger.

Woo! Do-do doo, do.

Yes, it really is time to get soup.

Doo-oo.

Woo-doo do-do. Do-doo, do-do-doo.

They're going to follow Tiny and Small to make sure they're OK.

Major's taking his tools, just in case.

-Here they go again.

The soup trolley's fallen over again!

Small explains that they flattened the bump down earlier.

The bump that caused them to crash.

Since Mother fixed the wheel again, Major is going to fix the bump.

Hmm... I wonder if the bump wants to be fixed.

-Well, will you look at that!

So, this little mole-creature

has been burrowing across the tunnel floor.

Woo! Do-doo! Do, do-do doo.

It is indeed where the bump came from!

Oo-oo do doo-oo.

None of the Clangers have seen such a creature before.

Looks very busy,

and knows where it's going!

What a hungry little thing!

Major is thinking...

Ooo do-do woo-oo do doo, oo-doo.

Woo do-doo-oo. Woo do-do woo-oo-oo. Woo-oo.

That's right.

The Clangers use the tunnel every day to get soup, and the little

creature uses the tunnel for flowers for its food, too.

Woo-oo, do woo-oo woo-oo, woo do doo-oo.

They can't keep bumping into each other, that would be rude!

Doo-oo oo! Oo, do-oo?

No, I don't think they can fly over it on the soup trolley.

Woo-wooo, doo doo oo-woo. Doo, doo-doo!

But Tiny has given Major an idea.

Whoop-whoop-whoop do do-oo doo-oo!

He tells the others to get the soup and meet him back in the tunnel.

So, as Tiny, Small and Mother

head to the soup wells for soup...

..Major Clanger works on his idea.

Bla-la-la-ga-la-ra-la...

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

Yes, time to take the soup back to the living cave.

-Doo-oo.

-Ah!

-Another bump in the road!

-Do-do oo, oo!

Whoop-oo doo-doo doo-oo.

Here's Major, and he thinks he has the solution!

-ALL:

-Oo-oo-oo!

-Will you look at that!

It's a little bridge made out of his broken table.

The bridge is a complete success!

Boo-doo do-oo, do-do doo-oo, oo.

So, whenever they see a bump inside the tunnel,

Major can lay down his bridge and they can both proceed in harmony.

-ALL:

-Doo-oo!

Yes! Hooray indeed!

Ha-wa.

Ha-wa-wa.

Ha-wa.

-ALL:

-Woo-woo-hoo-oo-oo, woo!

Well, that certainly calls for a soup celebration!

So, the Clangers came up with the perfect solution, so they and the

little creature could live and work side-by-side in perfect harmony.

You can certainly learn a lot from a Clanger.
