Today, it's the last chance for our three remaining groups

to make it into the top five and book a place in the semifinal.

and our quest to find Britain's top young performers

and it's all to support Red Nose Day.

Yes. Three acts will battle it out to take one of the top five positions

on the Glee Club leaderboard and a place in the live finals.

It's going to take nerves of steel, dedication

and lots and lots of Lycra.

And someone who knows a thing or two about Lycra

is our backstage presenter. You know her as Naomi Wilkinson.

We know her...as Naomi Wilkinson!

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

-So lovely. So lovely.

-Where's your Lycra?

-I wear my Lycra under my suit.

-Underneath.

-Always. You know that.

Now, Naomi, she's a master of many things.

I mean, you're an actress, you're a dancer, you're a presenter,

you're an adventurer-er-er.

But, viewers at home, you may not know this,

Naomi is also a master of this.

-I see you've been doing your research.

-We've got a challenge for you.

Today let's find out more

about dancer and choreographer Sisco Gomez.

'I don't like to sugar-coat anything.

'I guess I'm the meanie.

'I don't mean to be mad or bad

'but I just like to give it how it is

'because I want to give them a little insight

'into what life really is.'

Now for the important bit. 15 groups have made it through to the heats.

Today three of those acts will battle it out for our experts

who will be scoring them on vocal ability, creativity and performance.

All four judges will be giving marks out of ten

for each of the disciplines so there are plenty of points to be won.

And in the unlikely event of a tie,

head judge Carrie will decide who gets the medals.

The acts with the top five scores across the heats will then compete

in the live finals where it'll be up to you at home

-to vote for your favourite.

Naomi, over to you, you puzzle masterer.

Yes, thank you very much, boys.

I am in the backstage area with Resonate,

Bittersweet and The Allsorts. We're going to talk to Resonate first.

Hello, Harriet. Am I right in thinking you guys

are all responsible for your own outfits?

Yeah, we all pitch in our own ideas

and then we decide on the best one in the end.

And you sort of based it on your performance, have you?

Talk me through this outfit.

Well, we've been described before as angelic

so we thought we'd put our look into that as well.

It's simple and it brings more attention to our voices.

Well, I think you're pulling off the angelic look beautifully.

Good luck today. Over here to Bittersweet.

I remember you guys last time.

You had those magazines with your faces on the front, didn't you?

You've got something in your hand.

Actually, we made you a magazine with your face on it.

I was kind of hoping you might do that. That's amazing!

Shall I hold it up like that? Is that better?

I'll just present like that. You are the only group from Glasgow.

-Does that feel a bit of pressure?

-Just a bit.

-A little bit.

A little bit. Have you made any changes to your style

based on what the judges said to you last time?

Well, before we got really positive comments

so we just decided to keep up the energy and just go with the flow.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

And over here to the Allsorts who are so bright today.

You're dazzling. I should have bought my sunglasses for you lot.

You're quite newly-formed,

especially for Comic Relief Does Glee Club,

but I understand you've already got some unusual nicknames amongst you.

Is that right? Who's Baby? Who's Granny?

-You're...?

-Baby.

-And who's Granny?

-I'm Granny.

Does that mean you've got your pension sorted already?

-Oh, yeah(!)

-Why those names?

I'm called Granny because I'm the oldest of the group and I sort of

look after the group and then Phoebe is the Baby because she's only ten.

-Awwww. How are you feeling today?

-Excited.

I can't wait to see your performance.

We're going to have such a good time.

Our groups all arrived in Glasgow yesterday,

ready for the studio heats. So let's have a little look

and see how they got on when they met for the first time.

For Resonate...

Allsorts...

and Bittersweet, things may be about to heat up

when they take to the stage.

But the three glee clubs were dressed for a much colder climate

when they got together for the first time in Glasgow.

ALL: We're Allsorts and we're from Milton Keynes. Whoop whoop!

-We're Resonate and we're from the Isle of Wight. Whoo!

-We're bittersweet and we're from Glasgow.

Introductions over,

it was time to hit the slopes for some sledging fun.

-Really enjoying meeting everyone.

but you probably don't know where that is.

-Where are you guys from?

-Glasgow.

-Are you guys excited for tomorrow?

-Yes. Excited but nervous.

Can't wait for the hair and make-up. It's going to be so cool.

Once you actually perform with what you've been rehearsing for ages,

all the weight that's unloaded is so amazing

-cos you know you've done it.

-Then you want to do it again.

-You do.

Now I'm excited for it but tomorrow I'll be really nervous.

Under the lights, you'll just be like, "Aargh!"

-The adrenaline will kick in and it'll be good.

-Yeah.

-What sort of look are you going for?

-Just bold colours, like block.

It was so nice meeting the other groups. They're all so nice.

They were teaching us how to speak with a...

-IN SCOTTISH ACCENTS:

-..Glaswegian accent.

-Scottish.

-That was quite good.

I was nervous to talk to them at first

but they were really, really friendly, friendlier than I thought.

They seem really nice. They're just like us, really.

I think that we'll make a lot of good friends from this, actually.

I think we've met some lovely people

-and it just makes the experience more fun, doesn't it?

-Yeah.

Carrie, what did you think to the vocals there?

Wow. My goodness.

Today is going to be a really tough show. Allsorts,

I'm going to start with you guys.

Your unison singing, when you're all singing the same notes,

was absolutely brilliantly blended. Well done.

Now I'm going to go to Resonate over here.

You probably are technically the strongest singers.

What you need to work out is...

Each harmony in its own right is great,

but the sound of each harmony is very different to the next.

So there's not a blend between the harmonies. That's something

you need to look at. Bittersweet, you absolutely blew me away.

Such energy coming off you.

I think you would definitely give Little Mix a run for their money.

Wow.

-That's not bad.

-Not bad comments, really.

-No.

David, how do you compare those performances?

OK. Three very different performances again.

The thing is that the purpose of this round is that each group

takes the same song, they bend it to their will,

they make the song suit their style by their delivery.

Now, I felt with Resonate, what you did...

I think the song slightly got the better of you.

I actually feel like you weren't quite able to make it work

completely to your strengths because your strengths are

your facial connection and I could just see you thinking

about what you were doing rather than just connecting.

Allsorts, for me, your unison was tight and it was good

and it was fine. But when you got to be harmonies,

it was like a recording. It was so together and so tight.

Bittersweet, I've just got three words for you.

Confidence, attitude and swagger.

Amazing. You were fantastic.

APPLAUSE

John, which act did it for you there?

Well, that track particularly makes me want to take up boxing.

I feel like Rocky Balboa.

-So, in the spirit of boxing, Round One, Bittersweet.

-OK.

-All right.

Right. Sisco, where you entertained?

I was very entertained.

I really appreciated how each group

had a different version of the song.

How they incorporated, it was very interesting to see.

I'm going to start with Resonate. I can see that you guys...

This isn't your type of song. I felt like the song slightly exposed you.

You're more musical theatre and I feel you should have embedded

the style of the song a bit more.

When it comes to Allsorts, I just loved the unison singing,

as Carrie said. It was so, so beautiful. So well done on that.

But, Bittersweet, you guys are like a girl band.

You're like the new S Club or I don't know.

You guys, you're like a group and as soon as the first word started

you were, like, "Bam!" And I believed every single word.

I loved the choreography and the conviction. Well done.

And everybody likes a party like an S Club party,

you know what I'm saying?

Well done. Now, don't worry. There's still time to add

some more points to your total. But before that, let's take a look

at the scoreboard after Round One.

Resonate have 59 points,

Bittersweet take the lead with 104 points

and Allsorts have 82 points.

But with 120 points available to each group in Round Two,

it could all change.

All right then. Three very different performances, as the judges said.

Let us talk to the angelic Resonate first.

Now, they said you were technically the strongest group,

but perhaps it's not the sort of music that you're used to singing.

What do you think about that? Did you enjoy singing Little Mix?

I think they kind of hit the nail on the head

when they said that we're more musical theatre types.

Our strength is really our ballads. They're the experts so...

But you've got your ballad coming up

so you're ready to knock their socks off with your second song?

-Yeah, we're staying positive for the second round.

-As you should.

Over to Bittersweet with your swagger on, uber-confident.

Compared to Little Mix -

what do you make of what the judges said to you?

I think it was really good comments

and that we do represent a little girl band.

Would you like to be the next big thing? The next big girl band?

-That would be amazing, if that did happen.

-It could happen.

And over to the oh-so-bright Allsorts. Ah, my eyes! So dazzling.

Now, David said to you that you sounded like a recording.

So how are you going to up your game for the next level

if you sound that good now?

I guess we'll try and match it and be even better. But, um...

No, we really enjoyed performing that

and singing's one of our high points so we try our best.

Well, you could tell you enjoyed it.

Three fantastic performances. But you're all going to have to turn up

the heat now because next you've got to sing for your survival.

which is off the south coast of England.

Let us take a look at Resonate's journey to the heats.

-I'm guessing it involved a boat.

-Probably.

Resonate have shown the skills

to be a resounding success on their journey to Glasgow.

They grabbed the chance to have a bit of fun

at the judges' auditions in London,

before taking the stage

and walking away with the sound of high praise ringing in their ears.

-How are you feeling today?

-Excited.

The vocals were really soothing and smooth.

I could have sat and listened to that sound all day.

I absolutely loved that song and the good news is I still love it!

I didn't like that one though.

-What's this?

-You don't notice anything.

You're so busy listening to singing!

So can Resonate keep their Glee Club dream alive?

Resonate's style is kind of... we're into ballads

-and quite slow songs but we can definitely do upbeat stuff.

-Yeah.

-We're definitely looking forward to getting in the studio.

-Yeah.

-Performing in front of the judges.

-It is going to be so fun!

-I'm a bit nervous, though.

-Yeah. I was going to say that!

It is quite clear there is tough competition.

It is down to the last 15. Everyone's at a high standard.

-It is. A really high standard.

-It's pretty obvious now.

Have you got what it takes to get through to the semifinal?

It's just so hard to say, isn't it?

Everyone's amazing, but we're going to give it our best.

That's the Resonate I saw on Day One

and that's the Resonate I'm seeing in front of me now. Well done.

That's probably, vocally, the best performance of all three seasons.

-WOW!

I think the arrangement, the quality of your voices, the blend

and the way you guys incorporated the song was absolutely amazing.

Which just shows, if you're that good, you have to make sure

that, in other styles, you consistently give as much.

Try to be versatile because with that vocal ability,

you guys are unstoppable. That was beautiful.

Carrie, do you still think it was the right decision

to put Resonate through?

Well, that was a world-class performance.

You could sing that on a world stage

and stand against any of the top artists that we have out there

and you would equal them. Absolutely brilliant.

What I want to say to you is this -

you were clearly really intimidated by your first song today.

Do YOUR thing. Make it your own. This is what you have.

Stop trying to be something else on those songs that you find tricky,

do this on that and we'd have gone,

"I love how they've taken a Little Mix track and made it choral."

Yeah? So that is my advice.

If you get through, please give us this on every single song.

Bittersweet's performance put a smile on John's face in Glasgow.

There's nothing "Bittersweet" about you. You're all sweet.

Really enjoyed that. I'm going to be smiling all day after that one.

They went all-out to impress at the judges' auditions.

And didn't disappoint!

I really loved that performance. I loved the choreography.

I thought you were really original.

I loved the vocals, the doop-doop-doo-doo.

I am going to be singing that for days now.

It is like watching a little mini performance from a musical.

It was really very, very good.

So can they top that performance again?

-How much have you been practising?

-Lots.

-Everyday?

Nearly.

I would say Bittersweet are girly.

-We're quirky and cute.

One of the really good things about Bittersweet

and one of the reasons we feel so comfortable performing

is because we're almost like a family. Bittersweet. Girl power.

John, did that performance work for you?

Yeah, you guys do.

I mean, it's basically your use of props, your fashion sense,

your choreography, your vocals.

Everything you guys do for me, so far, has been pretty spot on.

And, again, I've got a smile on my face.

I love listening to you girls sing. You could easily be a girl band.

APPLAUSE

-Sisco, did that performance

PROMISE everything you'd hoped for? See what I did there?

I really enjoy you guys.

I think you guys have a really nice sense of unity

and you can tell you guys enjoy each other's company.

That reads on stage. That is really good.

I think I prefer you when you sing in a more contemporary format.

So the Little Mix song, I think, suited you more.

It's more hip and you guys have more attitude than that song.

You guys were playing this very sweet character

and I felt it restricted you slightly. A good performance.

-Good use of props but I'd prefer something more contemporary.

-OK.

APPLAUSE

Carrie, do you think it was the right song for their voices?

I don't know that it was the wrong song, actually.

I think that the challenge always

when you've got lots of choreography

is how you keep the vocal energy lower,

so it stays nice and smooth with a song like that,

whilst doing those punchy moves.

For me, it was a little bit shouty.

So the vocal sound was not so good

but very entertaining and I must point out you.

-You have a beautiful solo voice.

-Thank you, Carrie.

David, what did you like about that performance?

What I liked about the performance was the fact that,

as John pointed out, you look like a group.

You're a Glee Club that look like a gang.

You work together. You play to each other's strengths.

What I think is different about this song

is it had a different requirement to the first song.

The first song required energy and swagger

and attitude, which you have 100% of.

What this song required,

that you seemed unable to really give it fully, is warmth.

I would love to hear you vocally working on how to sing

within yourselves, not at 100%,

and just blend and put warmth into a song.

-Yes, I was really happy.

Now, you have done all you can. How does it feel?

There's nothing more you can do.

Well, it feels really good to let it all out.

We have been doing it for ages and we have worked really hard on it.

Good afternoon, everybody.

Allsorts' journey began when they caught John's attention in London.

Well done! Give yourselves a round of applause!

And they carried on doing just that at the judges' auditions,

with David and Dionne full of praise.

The performance was there, the energy was there, the joy was there.

I loved it. I absolutely loved it. You were giving all this sassiness.

I was singing along with you.

Can this all-girl group continue their journey

all the way to the top five?

How did you feel, walking into the studio for the first time?

It was...overwhelming.

What are you going to be thinking about as you are performing?

Just to give it our all, really,

because we worked so hard to be here and loads of energy

because it requires loads of energy to do what we do.

You say you are feeling "excitous"? What is that?

-It is a cross between excited and nervous.

-I love it!

I get excitous as all the time.

Our style is, like, bubbly, fresh and fierce.

THEY LAUGH

It just sums up who we are and what we want to show to the judges.

And our costumes and that.

We have tried so hard to impress the judges

and this is what we love doing, so hopefully we can portray that.

-We have worked really hard.

-It is overwhelming just to be this far.

-It is very special.

-It has been a really good experience as well.

Well, it's hard because you guys are really performance-based

and you really used the movement to your advantage.

So crisp, so clear, so beautiful! Oh, it's amazing!

Such a hard song cos it's iconic and I thought you guys did really good.

-It's going to be really hard to choose.

-Definitely.

Carrie, quite a gospel song, did you feel uplifted after that?

I like the way... I didn't feel they did it in a particularly gospel way,

which I thought was good. A bit of a twist on it.

I have to agree with Sisco, what a great first solo! Beautiful!

-David, give us your thoughts on that performance.

-I really enjoyed it.

I loved watching them. You guys are just fun!

You're energetic, you're joyful.

Actually, the title of that song

accurately describes what you are as a glee club.

-You just look really joyful up there and I enjoyed it.

And, John, that's quite a big song. Were the vocals up to it?

It's amazing. Yes, it is a huge song

and you starting, Bethany, was fantastic

cos I think that solo was probably the best solo

I've heard this series anyway, which is fantastic.

And it's fantastic to see the different age groups.

But the older girls don't eclipse the younger girls.

You girls just are real fighters

and you are right there right to the end and the momentum stayed there.

Well done.

-It just feels overwhelming.

We've worked so hard to get here

and it's amazing to hear that feedback because we all want

to be in performing arts or singers and so that is incredible to hear.

My mum will be happy about that!
