I noticed ants are moving their nests to higher ground.

The ants are definitely a sign that rain is on its way.

because I've got a new umbrella.

Hmm, I wonder what other signs of rain there are?

Well, Dirtgirl, you know what they say -

when the clouds are grey, rain's on its way.

Rain? I hope it won't spoil the stunt today.

We better go and check in with the clouds.

Some dark clouds are moving really quickly

and mushing together to make bigger clouds.

The dark clouds look...heavier.

Like they're full of water and ready to rain.

That means that watching what the clouds do

can give us a sign if rain it on its way.

COCK CROWS

The chickens have all tucked themselves inside the chicken house,

safe and sound. Another one for the list, spider.

Ooh! It's getting colder.

FROGS RIBBIT LOUDLY

Boy, those frogs are getting really loud.

What was that, Grubby? I can't hear you because of all the frogs.

The frogs always get really loud before it rains.

Maybe they sing so loud, because the think rain is fun.

All right, let's see if this thing works.

OK, so the signs of rain are...

Loud frogs.

Chickens putting themselves away.

High ant hills.

Dark clouds that move a lot.

It gets chilly?

Oh, and the sun goes away.

It has gotten darker. Will the sun come back?

It's gone behind some clouds

and it will eventually pop back out and everyone will say,

"Ah." I just hope it's in time for the stunt.

I don't know, Grubby. This might be one stunt that gets rained out.

Listen to that sound - the sound of rain on the roof.

It sounds like the rain is singing.

That reminds me, I need some time on the veranda

to set up my latest invention -

What is mud made from, anyway?

Ask the expert. Dirtgirl!

I'm happy to report that mud is made of...dirt,

and you know how much I love dirt!

You know, I really love dirt.

That's why I'm called Dirtgirl.

Dirt is amazing - it is made up of all kinds of things,

like broken bits of rock and stones,

little bits of sticks and plants,

sand and leaves, all mixed together.

Time can help to make dirt,

but so do lots and lots of creatures.

Ants, worms, beetles and even slugs help to make dirt.

There are so many dirt things to do in a day -

digging in the dirt, planting in the dirt...

But my favourite dirt thing to do is...

making mud pies!

It's easy-peasy fun.

Mixing dirt with water, or playing with mud after it rains,

you can make a great mud pie.

Mmm, it looks delicious.

But I wouldn't try to eat it - it IS mud, don't forget!

I love dirt, it's such a game.
