CHILDREN: Ready, Dan. Story time.

This story is called Leon Knows. It was written by James Mason

and the pictures are by Ben Mouncey.

Leon knows all about tortoises, especially Henry -

his very own pet tortoise.

Leon knows Henry has a hard shell and can pull his head

and all four legs inside it.

He knows that sometimes Henry moves very slowly, but on hot sunny days

Henry can move very quickly.

Oh, yes. He's slow there, but there, he's really fast.

Leon knows that during the cold winter Henry needs to hibernate,

so he makes Henry a bed in a box of straw.

He knows to check in the spring for when Henry wakes up again.

Wow. Does he really sleep all through winter?

That's right, Milly. That's what hibernating is.

Leon knows Henry really enjoys being out in the garden.

And that Henry keeps himself busy all day whist he's out.

But Leon knows Henry is always pleased to see him

when he gets back home.

Because Leon knows how to take care of Henry

and he knows that cucumber slices, lettuce leaves

and juicy apple are Henry's favourite food.

Leon knows it's very important to understand all about tortoises

so that you can take care of them properly, especially Henry.

The end. Well, what an interesting pet, eh?

I loved his fire-fighting helmet.

Leon looks after Henry really well.

Just like Precious looks after Angus.

But I forgot to feed him.

The important thing is that you knew there was something wrong with Angus

and you worked out what is was.
