It's Hip and Hop and Sweetie's carriage.

Look, they're over there! They're having a picnic.

I love picnics. ALL: Yeah, me too.

Well spotted. Sweetie said she was going on a picnic with Hip and Hop.

I said we would pick them up,

but first, I have to go and get a new book for the library carriage.

Mm! I love carrot cake. Your cake is really yummy, Sweetie.

These carrots from your garden are the crunchiest, munchiest ever.

I'll save some cake for Driver Dan.

I'm sure they won't mind if I have a little picnic, too.

Picnics need plates and cups.

I did hear it, honestly.

Now, a picnic needs food.

Oh, I've got the carrots but we really need those plates and cups.

This time no more disappearing plate tricks, Hop.

Maybe if Hop would stop playing funny tricks with the plates.

Oh, look! It's the Story Train.

Hello, Sweetie. Hi, Hip and Hop. How was the picnic?

Hello, Driver Dan. Super yummy.

-Sweetie made a scrummy carrot cake.

-I saved a piece for you.

Thank you. I'll have it later. Are we cleared up and ready to go?

Nearly, Driver Dan. Just got to get the blanket.

And we sang a special song, like this.

And the bowls, and everything else.

See, Hip? It wasn't me.

No, it was me. I wanted to have a picnic too.

This is Sweetie and Twinkle and these two are Hip and Hop.

-Lovely to meet you.

-My name is Bippity.

Yeah. Hey, Bippity, do you like stories?

-Yes! I love stories.

Driver Dan, could Bippity come with us to Story Corner?

Let's find your carriage and go to Story Corner.

Bippity, Bippity.

We picked up Bippity and his carriage,

and if you are ready too, let's go.

ALL: All aboard the Story Train! It's time for a story.

Bippity can come too. He'll love Story Corner.

-Is everyone ready for a story?

-Are you ready, Bippity?

Oh, yes. I would love to hear a story too, Driver Dan.

Aha! I know just the book.

A new book for a new friend.

Is everybody settled down and ready to listen?

And all of you sitting down comfy and ready to listen?

This story is called the Big Blue Bumpalump.

Art Taylor wrote it and Lawrie Stansfield did the pictures.

Prince Huffanpuff was a happy prince.

He ruled over a happy kingdom.

But recently, Prince Huffanpuff had become worried,

for he had heard that a big blue bumpalump

had moved into a cave close to his castle.

Oh, a bumpalump! What is a bumpalump?

We'll see. Now, no-one had actually seen the bumpalump,

but the villagers had heard it was as high as a very tall tree

and had lots of shaggy, blue fur.

It was said it had large, stompy feet and huge hands with claws

and two or maybe three enormous horns and lots of very,

very big yellow teeth.

And stories were told that when it walked,

the ground shook with a huge bumpalump sound.

And when it roared, the windows would rattle and everyone

said that the bumpalump was bumpy, lumpy and downright grumpy.

-GIGGLING

-Bumpy and lumpy!

Prince Huffanpuff had decided the bumpalump

was the most fearsome creature in the kingdom when a messenger ran in.

"He's coming!" The messenger cried.

The big blue bumpalump is coming. "Help," cried the Prince.

But his knights all clattered away as fast as they could.

Prince Huffanpuff hid under his blankets.

"Shut the gates," he squealed. "Call the guards! Everyone hide."

Down on the courtyard, the only person left was a small girl

called Jasmine, who was busy sweeping up the hay.

There was a loud knocking at the castle gates.

Bump, bump, bump.

Jasmine had heard that the big blue bumpalump was bumpy and lumpy

and she had been warned that he was even quite grumpy.

But she had never actually seen a bumpalump before so,

very slowly, she opened the gate.

"Hi, there," said the bumpalump,

"I've just moved into the cave next door

"and I thought I'd meet the neighbours."

Jasmine smiled. "What lovely flowers. Do come in." She said.

The guards, knights and villagers peeped out from their hiding places.

Then Prince Huffanpuff strode into the courtyard.

Jasmine, you are the bravest person in the whole castle.

"From now on, you will no longer sweep the hay.

"You will be in charge of all my knights and guards."

And Prince Huffanpuff, Jasmine and the big blue bumpalump

sat down to a fantastic feast,

followed by a brilliant bumpy, lumpy ride around the castle.

-The end. Wasn't that a good story?

-Yes. Lumpy and bumpy.

And now it's your turn.

It's time to show me the story.

ALL: Clip, clop, clip, clop.

-I'm riding my horse like the Prince.

-So am I.

-I'm being a big blue bumpalump.

-Me too.

Stomp, stomp, stomp!

Now I'm roaring like the bumpalump.

ALL: Quick! Run away!

Everybody hide!

-He's not scary at all.

-Hello, bumpalump.

Hello.

-We are at the feast now.

-There is lots of lovely food.

Let's all ride around with the bumpalump.
