TRAIN WHISTLE BLOWS
-Hello, Driver Dan.
# Which of our friends are we going to see?
# Which of our friends do you think it will be?
# Climb aboard and travel with me
# All aboard the Story Train. #
All aboard the Story Train.
Twinkle can see some of our Story Train friends.
Can you see who they are?
-He's got a ball.
I can see Bippity as well.
And there's the Counting Sheep. They're all running around.
-They're all playing football.
Football? Great. Let's go and see if we can join in.
Nobby is running down the field, he sees the goal. He shoots, he...
Oh, sorry, Loopy.
It's not your fault, Bippity. We haven't got enough players.
TRAIN WHISTLE BLOWS
Hello, Loopy and Bippity. Hello, Counting Sheep.
ALL: Hello, Driver Dan.
Does your football game need more players?
-Can we join in?
-Bippity-bop, yes, please.
You can be on our side, we need more players.
OK. You can start, Twinkle.
Perhaps you're a little small to play football.
I know, why don't you be the referee instead?
TWINKLE BLOWS WHISTLE
You start, Bippity.
Kick the ball to me, Bippity.
Bippity-Bop. I'm going to do an extra big kick.
That certainly was an extra big kick.
-Oh, no, the ball is stuck!
-And it's burst.
-Oh, I'm sorry, everyone.
It's OK, it was just an accident. Great kick though.
Yes, now we need to get the ball back and fix it.
But how are we going to reach all the way up there?
Oh, I've got an idea.
Bip-bip, what's he doing?
-Let's go and see.
If I bounce high enough, I can get the ball back.
Oh, sorry, I couldn't reach the ball.
Nice try though, Loopy. Never mind.
Oh, dear. Bip-bip.
If Loopy can't reach the ball, who can?
It's a pity I don't have great big long arms,
-then I could reach up and get it.
Bippity-bip, longer arms. That's it!
I can make myself a pair of longer arms with my Makerer.
Bip-bip. Watch this.
What a clever idea, Bippity.
Oh, nearly there.
Oh, I can't manage.
Watch out, Bippity.
Bippity, bippity... Oh...
Are you all right, Bippity?
I'm fine. Sorry I couldn't reach the ball.
That's 0K. It was a good try.
It doesn't look like we'll ever get it back now.
-Ah, I think Twinkle has an idea.
She's trying to get the ball.
Well done, Twinkle. You were too small to play with the football,
-but you were big enough to rescue it.
Rescued by Twinkle and fixed by the Fix-O-Tron.
Thanks, Driver Dan, now we can play football again.
-The sheep have it, they've passed it to number four,
to number two, and to number one, who shoots!
Phwoar, great save, Bippity!
Ho-ho! Thanks to my new arms. Bip-bippity-bip-bip.
Quick, throw the ball to me.
Oh, I'll do an extra big throw.
Oh, no, careful, Bippity.
Phwoar, not again!
Ha-ha, it landed in the Story Train!
Maybe it's a good time to go to Story Corner.
-Who wants a story?
Oh, me, please.
-There, I'm all done, Twinkle, are we ready to go?
-Tweet, tweet, tweet.
-Are you ready too? Then let's go.
-ALL: All aboard the Story Train.
-It's time for a story.
-It might be about flying up high.
-Maybe it will be about football.
Who's ready for a story?
We are. Bippity-bip.
I know just the book.
-Is everybody ready to listen?
-All of you, sitting down comfy and ready to listen?
This story is called Big And Little.
It was written by Sarah Fabiny and the pictures are by Chuck Groenink.
Hiro loved his big sister Tamiko,
and Tamiko loved her little brother Hiro.
But because Hiro was younger and littler than Tamiko,
he couldn't always do what Tamiko did.
Tamiko was a good roller-skater,
but Hiro wasn't big enough to go on skates with his sister.
"Don't worry," she said.
"Some day, you'll be big enough to skate with me."
Ha-ha! I like skating too, and I can go really fast.
I'm sure you can, Loopy.
Tamiko had started school. Every morning, she packed her lunch box.
"Don't worry," Tamiko said, waving goodbye.
"Some day, you'll be big enough to come to school."
Their mum took them to the playground every week.
Tamiko got to go up the climbing frame,
but Hiro could only watch as Tamiko balanced and swung on the bars.
"Don't worry, Hiro," Tamiko said.
"Some day, you'll be big enough to have a go."
When Tamiko and Hiro went to the supermarket with their grandpa,
Tamiko could help by reaching for vegetables from the high-up baskets.
"Don't worry," Tamiko said.
"Some day, you'll be big enough to reach too."
Maybe I could reach up high enough with my new grow-longer arms.
Every evening, Hiro had to go to bed earlier than Tamiko.
"Don't worry," Tamiko said, as Hiro got ready for bed.
"Some day, you'll be big enough
"to stay up as late as I do. Sleep tight!"
One day, Hiro and Tamiko were playing in the park with Dad.
"Dad, will you spin me round, please, please, please?"
"I can't spin you round any more, Tamiko," chuckled Dad.
"You're much too big."
Then he took Hiro's small hands in his.
"But Hiro is still little enough for me to spin round, aren't you, Hiro?"
Tamiko cheered and Hiro squealed in delight as Dad spun Hiro
round and round and round.
"Hiro, being little is still lots of fun, isn't it?"
"Yes, it is!" cried Hiro, as Dad spun him faster and faster.
-Did you enjoy that story?
-I liked how he could do something just because he was small.
Now it's your turn, which bit did you like best?
Come on, it's time to show me the story.
Look at me, I'm roller-skating!
Swish, swish, swish, swish.
-We're reading our books.
-Mine is very interesting.
-So is mine.
-We're off to school on a bus.
I love oranges.
Tamiko is packing lunch for school.
-Time to go to sleep now.
Time for bed.
-We're in the supermarket now.
-The baskets are very high.
Let's spin round and round and round, like Hiro. Whee!
Spin, spin, spin. Whee!
Well done, thanks for showing me the story.
Tamiko got to do lots of fun things, didn't she?
Oh, yes, swimming and climbing and roller-skating. It was great.
But Hiro got to spin round and round and round, bip-bip-bip.
He got to spin because he was smaller than Tamiko.
Like Twinkle. She's smaller, but she got our ball back for us.
Yes, she did. Thanks, Twinkle.
Our game would have been ruined without you.
-I'm glad everyone enjoyed the story,
but now it's time to go.
-ALL: All aboard the Story Train.
It's time to go, but let's come back soon, because we all love stories!
-Bye, Driver Dan.
I like stories about princesses with long hair.
I like stories about making friends.
I like stories about space travel!
The Counting Sheep are a great football team because there are so many of them and they can block the goal by piling up on each other! But when the football accidentally gets stuck on top of a tall tree, it's bouncing Loopy, Bippity with extra-long arms, and flying Twinkle who can help rescue the ball - and of course Driver Dan and his Fix-O-Tron. Featuring the story Big and Little.
