I know just the book.

-Is everybody ready to listen?

This story is called Big And Little.

It was written by Sarah Fabiny and the pictures are by Chuck Groenink.

Hiro loved his big sister Tamiko,

and Tamiko loved her little brother Hiro.

But because Hiro was younger and littler than Tamiko,

he couldn't always do what Tamiko did.

Tamiko was a good roller-skater,

but Hiro wasn't big enough to go on skates with his sister.

"Don't worry," she said.

"Some day, you'll be big enough to skate with me."

Ha-ha! I like skating too, and I can go really fast.

I'm sure you can, Loopy.

Tamiko had started school. Every morning, she packed her lunch box.

"Don't worry," Tamiko said, waving goodbye.

"Some day, you'll be big enough to come to school."

Their mum took them to the playground every week.

Tamiko got to go up the climbing frame,

but Hiro could only watch as Tamiko balanced and swung on the bars.

"Don't worry, Hiro," Tamiko said.

"Some day, you'll be big enough to have a go."

When Tamiko and Hiro went to the supermarket with their grandpa,

Tamiko could help by reaching for vegetables from the high-up baskets.

"Don't worry," Tamiko said.

"Some day, you'll be big enough to reach too."

Maybe I could reach up high enough with my new grow-longer arms.

Every evening, Hiro had to go to bed earlier than Tamiko.

"Don't worry," Tamiko said, as Hiro got ready for bed.

"Some day, you'll be big enough

"to stay up as late as I do. Sleep tight!"

One day, Hiro and Tamiko were playing in the park with Dad.

"Dad, will you spin me round, please, please, please?"

asked Tamiko.

"I can't spin you round any more, Tamiko," chuckled Dad.

"You're much too big."

Then he took Hiro's small hands in his.

"But Hiro is still little enough for me to spin round, aren't you, Hiro?"

Tamiko cheered and Hiro squealed in delight as Dad spun Hiro

round and round and round.

"Hiro, being little is still lots of fun, isn't it?"

laughed Tamiko.

"Yes, it is!" cried Hiro, as Dad spun him faster and faster.

"Yippee, whee!"

Oh, yes, swimming and climbing and roller-skating. It was great.

He got to spin because he was smaller than Tamiko.

Like Twinkle. She's smaller, but she got our ball back for us.
