MUSIC PLAYS >

0:00:460:00:47

Twinkle, can you hear that? Someone's playing music.

0:00:470:00:52

Can you hear it too?

0:00:520:00:55

It's Sweetie, she's playing her pipe,

0:00:550:00:59

and Tallulah, she's playing a tambourine.

0:00:590:01:02

Yes, it's Sweetie and Tallulah making music together.

0:01:020:01:06

Let's go and have a listen.

0:01:060:01:09

Bravo, Sweetie, well done, Tallulah, that was lovely, wasn't it, Twinkle?

0:01:180:01:23

Tweet, tweet.

0:01:230:01:24

-Er.

-What's wrong?

0:01:240:01:27

We're trying to be a marching band, Driver Dan.

0:01:270:01:31

But something's missing.

0:01:310:01:33

It just doesn't sound right.

0:01:330:01:35

Maybe you need another instrument.

0:01:350:01:38

What if I play my Fix-O-Tron whistle? Twinkle could join in too.

0:01:380:01:42

Oh, OK, let's try it.

0:01:420:01:45

-Ready, everyone?

-ALL: Ready, Driver Dan.

0:01:450:01:50

-Er...

-Ah-ha, that's what's missing.

0:01:530:01:57

What, Tallulah?

0:01:570:01:58

A noisy, booming sound so we can all march at the same time.

0:01:580:02:03

Like a big marching band drum.

0:02:030:02:05

You're right. Has anybody got a drum?

0:02:050:02:09

Let's go on the Story Train and see if anyone else has got a big drum.

0:02:090:02:15

We are hooked up. Twinkle, are we ready?

0:02:150:02:17

Tweet, tweet, tweet.

0:02:170:02:19

Are you ready too? Then let's go.

0:02:190:02:22

ALL: All aboard the Story Train.

0:02:220:02:25

I think Twinkle has spotted someone, can you see who it is?

0:02:280:02:32

-Will they be able to help us?

-Ha-ha, woo-ha.

0:02:320:02:35

It's Loopy.

0:02:350:02:38

Yeah, he's being really noisy.

0:02:380:02:40

You're right, Loopy is very noisy.

0:02:400:02:44

Let's go and say hello.

0:02:440:02:46

-Oh.

-Yoo-hoo.

0:02:500:02:53

Hello, everyone. What are you doing?

0:02:530:02:56

We're being a marching band today, Loopy.

0:02:560:03:00

Oh-ho, can I be in your marching band, too?

0:03:000:03:04

Of course, I'm playing my pipe.

0:03:040:03:09

Great. Please may I have a go, Sweetie?

0:03:090:03:12

Only if you're really careful, Loopy.

0:03:120:03:15

I will be, Sweetie, promise.

0:03:150:03:19

Oh-ho, how was that?

0:03:230:03:25

You're very good at marching, Loopy.

0:03:250:03:28

-Maybe you should try playing your own instrument.

-Hey, like what?

0:03:280:03:33

Well, we do need another sound for our marching band,

0:03:330:03:37

a big booming noise.

0:03:370:03:41

Yes, like a big marching band drum.

0:03:410:03:44

What about my ball?

0:03:440:03:48

It's not a very booming noise.

0:03:530:03:56

It's more bouncy.

0:03:560:03:58

Or maybe I've got something better in my toy box.

0:03:580:04:04

What about these?

0:04:040:04:06

You can't play roller-skates, Loopy.

0:04:060:04:10

And this.

0:04:100:04:12

Or a tennis racket.

0:04:120:04:14

Oh, I haven't got anything that makes a booming drum noise.

0:04:140:04:18

Don't worry, Loopy, we can find you something to play.

0:04:180:04:22

-Yes.

-I'm sure we can.

0:04:220:04:25

Oh, it's OK, everyone, it doesn't matter.

0:04:250:04:28

-What are we going to do?

-I don't know.

0:04:330:04:37

Ssh. Listen.

0:04:370:04:39

Ooh, that's a really good, boomy, bouncy sound.

0:04:390:04:44

What is it, Driver Dan?

0:04:440:04:46

It's Loopy, look.

0:04:460:04:48

It's perfect to march to, just like a big marching band drum.

0:04:520:05:00

One, two, three, four, one, two, three, four. One, two, three, four.

0:05:000:05:05

One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four.

0:05:050:05:10

What's everyone doing?

0:05:100:05:11

-Keep bouncing, Loopy. You're in the marching band.

-I am?!

0:05:110:05:16

Yes, you're making a booming drum sound on your trampoline.

0:05:160:05:20

Oh-ho, I am. I am.

0:05:200:05:25

Come on, Driver Dan.

0:05:250:05:28

ALL: Wey-hey.

0:05:380:05:39

I think that was the best marching band ever.

0:05:390:05:43

All thanks to Loopy.

0:05:430:05:45

Yes, no-one bounces out a booming beat like you, Loopy.

0:05:450:05:49

Oh-ho, wey-hey.

0:05:490:05:51

Who'd like to go on the Story Train to Story Corner?

0:05:510:05:54

ALL: Me.

0:05:540:05:56

-We're all hooked up, Twinkle, are we ready to go?

-Tweet, tweet.

0:05:560:06:01

Are you ready too? Then let's go.

0:06:010:06:04

ALL: All aboard the Story Train.

0:06:040:06:06

It's time for a story.

0:06:060:06:09

I think it will be about noisy instruments.

0:06:090:06:12

Maybe about marching.

0:06:120:06:14

-Ha-ha.

-Wey-hey.

0:06:230:06:26

-Is everyone ready for a story?

-I am.

-I am.

0:06:260:06:30

Ah-ha, I know just the book.

0:06:300:06:33

-Is everybody settled down and ready to listen?

-We are.

-We are.

0:06:330:06:37

-All of you? Sitting down comfy and ready to listen.

-Yes, Dan.

-Yes, Dan.

0:06:370:06:42

This story is called Elephant Jump.

0:06:420:06:44

It was written by Diane and Christian Fox,

0:06:440:06:47

illustrations by Lauren Tobia.

0:06:470:06:49

Stanley the elephant gave a big sigh.

0:06:490:06:53

He felt a bit glum and he knew why.

0:06:530:06:55

He could pick the best fruit from the tallest of trees

0:06:550:06:59

and flap his big ears, to cool friends with the breeze.

0:06:590:07:02

His trunk could suck water and spray like a pump

0:07:020:07:06

but Stanley the elephant wanted to jump.

0:07:060:07:09

Oh, wa-ha, jumping's easy, I'm really good at jumping.

0:07:090:07:13

You certainly are, Loopy.

0:07:130:07:15

Stanley watched frogs as they hopped all around,

0:07:150:07:19

he watched chimpanzees somersault to the ground.

0:07:190:07:22

He watched lemurs leaping, as though they had wings,

0:07:220:07:25

and even the panthers pounced up with a spring.

0:07:250:07:28

So down Stanley sat, with a very large thump, lifted his trunk

0:07:280:07:32

and cried, "Why can't I jump?"

0:07:320:07:35

A monkey saw Stanley and, hearing his plea, decided to help

0:07:350:07:39

and jumped down from the tree.

0:07:390:07:42

He said, "Don't use four legs, try starting with two.

0:07:420:07:46

"Imagine yourself as a big kangaroo."

0:07:460:07:49

Stanley felt sure that he'd soon get the knack.

0:07:490:07:52

He balanced, then wobbled, then fell on his back.

0:07:520:07:55

Oh, dear, we hope he didn't hurt himself.

0:07:550:07:59

Don't worry, Sweetie, he's fine.

0:07:590:08:02

A small yellow bird fluttered down from the tree.

0:08:020:08:05

She said, "Stanley, I'll help you, just listen to me.

0:08:050:08:09

"Stand up on two legs, if you want to succeed.

0:08:090:08:12

"Move your weight forward and follow my lead."

0:08:120:08:15

Stanley balanced again and gave a loud grunt

0:08:150:08:18

as he crashed to the ground and lay flat on his front.

0:08:180:08:22

A spider was watching from high in the tree.

0:08:220:08:25

He said, "I wonder if Stanley would listen to me?"

0:08:250:08:29

He lowered down quickly to offer his help

0:08:290:08:31

but, seeing the spider, Stan gave a loud yelp.

0:08:310:08:34

His heart skipped a beat and he jumped up in fright,

0:08:340:08:38

a magnificent jump, a wonderful sight.

0:08:380:08:41

"I did it," shrieked Stanley.

0:08:410:08:43

"I jumped in the air, I started from here and I landed just there."

0:08:430:08:50

And the animals cheered with a trumpety-trump

0:08:500:08:53

for Stanley the elephant who could jump.

0:08:530:08:56

-ALL: Yippee.

-The End.

0:08:560:08:57

Did you all enjoy the story?

0:08:570:09:01

I really liked it, Driver Dan.

0:09:010:09:03

Jumping stories are the best.

0:09:030:09:06

And now it's your turn, which bit did you like best?

0:09:060:09:09

Come on, it's time to show me the story.

0:09:090:09:12

-Look, I'm a big elephant, I'm picking fruit with my trunk.

-Stretch.

0:09:120:09:17

I'm a really big hopping frog. Rivett, rivett.

0:09:170:09:21

Hop, hop, hop.

0:09:210:09:24

Rrrr. I'm a panther.

0:09:240:09:26

Stanley is sad because he can't jump.

0:09:270:09:31

We're all trying to balance on one leg.

0:09:310:09:34

-Ohh.

-Whoa.

0:09:340:09:36

Wobble, wobble.

0:09:360:09:39

Look, a spider. Let's run away, Stanley.

0:09:390:09:41

ALL: Arrgh.

0:09:410:09:44

-The spider made Stanley jump.

-Hooray!

-Hooray, he can jump!

-Yeah!

0:09:440:09:49

Well done, you were great at showing me the story.

0:09:490:09:53

It's good Stanley was able to jump, wasn't it?

0:09:530:09:56

Even if it was by accident.

0:09:560:09:58

Like me being able to play in the marching band, that was an accident.

0:09:580:10:03

If you hadn't bounced on your trampoline

0:10:030:10:06

we wouldn't have found our marching band drum sound.

0:10:060:10:10

-Oh, yeah.

-That's right.

0:10:100:10:13

Come on, let's march back to the Story Train.

0:10:130:10:16

Shake it, shake it.

0:10:160:10:18

Train, train.

0:10:180:10:20

Glad you enjoyed the story, everyone, but now it is time to go.

0:10:210:10:25

-All aboard.

-ALL: All aboard the Story Train.

0:10:250:10:30

Bye, everyone, it's time to go but let's come back soon

0:10:300:10:35

because we all love stories.

0:10:350:10:37

Bye, Driver Dan, bye.

0:10:370:10:40

-I like pirate stories.

-I like stories about frogs.

0:10:490:10:53

I like stories about bees.
