He's throwing the balls out of his toybox.

-Hi, Driver Dan. Hi, Twinkle.

-Hello, Loopy.

What're you doing with those balls?

I'm clearing them out as they've lost their bounce.

Well done for tidying, but what will you do with them now?

-Oh, I don't know Driver Dan.

-Let's put them on the story train for now.

I've got so many plants to plant in my garden

and I don't know where to plant them all. I hate having a messy garden.

We can help you tidy up, can't we Driver Dan?

I'm good at tidying. I tidied my toybox.

Er, it's a little muddy.

No problem. I'll just get...

my boots!

Oh, they're full of holes. That's no use for gardening.

Never mind, I can help without them.

There's still so many plants to plant.

-Maybe you need some more help.

THEY LAUGH. Hi, Tallulah. I like your hat.

I found it when I was tidying up earlier.

I think it's a bit too big though.

Tallulah, we're helping Sweetie plant all her plants.

-Would you like to help too?

Oh, no! We've run out of space.

I think I've just had an idea.

-May I have the hat you found, please, Tallulah?

Loopy, could you jump on the balls to get all the air out, please?

After all that hard work, I think it's time for a rest,

It's Story Time!

We're all hooked up, Twinkle. Are we ready to go?

Cheep-cheep-cheep.

Are you ready too? Then let's go!

CHILDREN: All aboard the story train!

I love Story Time.

I think it'll be a story about funny hats.

Hee-hee-hee.

Cheep-cheep-cheep.

-Ha-ha, hoo-ha, oh!

-Wey-hey!

-Wey-hey!

Who's ready for a story then?

I am. Can we have one about tidy gardens?

Ah-ha! I know just the book. Is everybody settled down

and ready to listen?

ALL: We are.

-And all of you, sitting comfy and ready to listen?

-CHILDREN: Yes!

-This story is called Messy Jessie.

-Messy Jessie, ha-ha!

Jessie liked doing lots of things.

Running and bouncing and sliding and skipping,

but Jessie did not like tidying up.

I do! I like tidying up.

Me too.

"No time to tidy", she would say each day, as she put on her hat,

and her gloves, and her boots, and ran off to play with her friends.

And each day, Jessie's house would get messier and messier and messier.

Whoops! My garden got messier and messier too.

One rainy day, Jessie's friends were splashing in puddles.

"Wait for me", she called. Where was her hat?

"Never mind", thought Jessie.

And she put on her gloves, and her boots, and was off.

Jessie felt a bit chilly that day.

The next day was icy. Jessie's friends were skating.

"Wait for me!" she called. But she couldn't see her hat or her gloves.

"Never mind", thought Jessie, and she put on her boots and was off.

Jessie felt cold that day.

The next day was snowy.

Jessie's friends were out sledging.

"W-w-wait for me!" sneezed Jessie.

But her hat and her gloves and her boots were nowhere to be found.

Jessie looked miserably round her messy house and gave a sob.

She'd never find anything in here.

Jessie's friends felt sorry for her.

"Sledging won't be as much fun without you", said Hattie.

"Come on, we'll help you tidy up", said Bill.

So together, they scrubbed and swept and polished and tidied,

until the place was spotless.

Oh, look! They've found her gloves!

And her boots and hat too.

"Yippee!" laughed Jessie, hugging her friends.

Then she put on her hat and her gloves,

and her boots, and off they all went sledging, cosy and warm.

The next day, Jessie threw a party to thank her friends.

She flung open the door. "Come in, come in!" she called.

"Eh, but please, take off your shows first.

"I really don't like mess."

The end. Well, wasn't that a good story?

ALL: Yeah!

Jessie's house looked so pretty after they tidied up.

Just like your garden, Sweetie!

Brrr, it's cold outside.

We're looking for Jessie's gloves and hat.

I can't see them anywhere.

We're sledging.

ALL: Weeeee!

It's a party, hooray!

-Hooray!

-Yeah!

Well done, that was really good.

I'm tidying up, just in case.

Just in case of what?

In case we lose some books, as Jessie lost her hat, boots, and gloves.

Good thinking. Then the library carriage will be as tidy

as your garden and Jessie's house. Ha-ha!
