"Rosie look nervously around at the other children

"in Madame Sylvie's dance class."

Ooh, a story about dancing!

"They were all so good.

"Point your toes, children," said Madame Sylvie,

"clapping in time to the music.

"The others pointed their toes and raised their arms gracefully.

"Oh, no, I can't do it," murmured Rosie to herself.

"And she crept out of the room."

I wish I could teach Rosie the blue boat-winners dance.

I think Rosie would like that, Bippity.

"The corridor was alive with activity.

"Dancers crammed into the great hall eagerly.

"'The older children are rehearsing!' Gasped Rosie.

"And she pressed her nose up against the glass to get a better look.

"Musicians were striking up,

"violin and cello strings hummed, flutes whistled, triangles tinkled,

"trumpets tooted and the big bass drum kept a steady beat.

"Then... the curtain went up."

Woo, how exciting, Lilly!

Yes, how exciting, Milly!

"On to the stage trooped the dancers in blue.

"They hopped and they turned, they knew what to do.

"They jigged along to a sailor's tune.

"Well done to the dancers in blue."

Bip bip! They could dance the blue boat winners dance too!

"Then into the spotlight stepped some girls in red.

"Their castanets clacked as they threw back their heads.

"Their black shoed clicked to their high-heeled step.

"Hooray for the dancers in red."

Hooray!

"From the sides rushed in the street dance crew.

"They stepped to the side, they flipped and they flew.

"They got on down to their hip-hop groove.

"Woo-hoo for the street dance crew."

"And at last, into the spotlight,

"shimmery and dainty fluttered the ballerina on toes so pointy.

"She twisted and twirled with such beauty

"and Madame Sylvie clapped her hands.

"'Rosie, what beautiful dancing!

"She said. 'I didn't know you could do that?'

"For Rosie had been jigging and stepping and whirling,

"pointing her toes and clicking and twirling,

"so Rosie joined the other children once more

"in Madame Sylvie's dance class.

"And this time, she was smiling

"as she said to herself, 'I CAN do it!'"
