What's wrong with the Story Train?

Well, it seems to have broken down.

Ah-ha! I know just the book.

-Is everybody ready to listen?

This story is called Penguin On A Plane.

It was written by Hooda Shawa

and the pictures are by Muriel Abichaker.

The passengers on Flight PP241 had an unexpected traveller on board.

Waddling down the aisle came Penguin Po,

causing quite a commotion among the crowd.

"Look, it's a penguin!" cried the passengers.

"That's strange," thought Po. "Why is everyone so surprised to see me?"

Hee-hee-hee! A penguin on a plane! Bippity-bip!

That's nearly as strange as seeing a flying train.

It is, isn't it, Bippity?

Po stretched and flapped up high to put his bags in the locker.

The passengers clapped and cheered.

"I guess they've never seen a penguin flap before," he thought.

So Po flapped his wings up and down a bit more.

Po sat down and fastened his seat belt.

Along came the steward, pushing the drinks trolley.

"Ice, please," said Po, and he juggled the cubes in the air

till they landed, plop, plop, plop in his cup.

"Wow!" whooped the passengers.

"I guess they've never seen a penguin juggle before," thought Po.

So he juggled some more.

The baby in the next seat was feeling grumpy,

so Po got up and did a penguin dance to cheer her up.

Soon, the baby was gurgling and giggling again.

"Watch him go!" cried the passengers.

"Hmm, I guess they've never seen a penguin dance before," thought Po.

So he showed them a few more moves. The crowd went wild.

I like to dance, but not when everyone's watching.

-Ah, Sweetie, we don't mind if you dance.

-Thank you, Driver Dan.

By the time Po had danced his way to the end of the aisle,

people were waving and reaching out to shake hands with him.

"Please can we take your photo?" they called. "Of course," said Po.

"Fish!" He said, giving his biggest smile for the cameras.

Po was delighted to have made so many new friends on his trip.

"Hmm," he thought, as the plane came in to land,

"if they've never seen a penguin flap or juggle or dance,

"then I guess they've never seen a penguin fly a plane before."

"Wave to the captain," chuckled Po,

as Penguin Plane 241 took off on another happy flight.
