Welcome to your Quick Blast of epicness. First up... | 0:35:22 | 0:35:26
Lynne Hutchinson and Jade Falkner. | 0:35:27 | 0:35:29
Hi, girls! | 0:35:29 | 0:35:30
They're going to teach you how to be brilliant with the rhythmic ribbon. | 0:35:30 | 0:35:34
It's epically beautiful. | 0:35:34 | 0:35:35
When you first start with the ribbon, you need to practise the basics, | 0:35:35 | 0:35:39
so let's start with the spirals. | 0:35:39 | 0:35:40
OK, Lynne, but how do we do that? | 0:35:40 | 0:35:42
First of all, point your finger down the stick and put your arm out | 0:35:42 | 0:35:45
straight in front of you, then, using only our wrist, make the circles. | 0:35:45 | 0:35:48
Sounds straightforward. | 0:35:48 | 0:35:50
Once you've mastered the spirals, you can | 0:35:50 | 0:35:52
try circling the ribbon around your body. | 0:35:52 | 0:35:54
Looks super cool! Tell us how to do it, Lynne. | 0:35:54 | 0:35:56
Keep the stick above your head | 0:35:56 | 0:35:58
and use your wrists like in the spirals, but make them a bit bigger. | 0:35:58 | 0:36:01
Once you've mastered those, you can move on to a throw. | 0:36:01 | 0:36:04
I'd say I have mastered those. Let's move on. | 0:36:04 | 0:36:06
Holding the end of the ribbon and the stick, | 0:36:06 | 0:36:09
flick the stick to catch the ribbon and swing the stick in front of you. | 0:36:09 | 0:36:12
As it touches the floor, pull it back and catch it. | 0:36:12 | 0:36:15
You have got to be kidding. | 0:36:15 | 0:36:16
OK, so throw the stick, | 0:36:16 | 0:36:18
pull stick back...and catch. | 0:36:18 | 0:36:22
Ta-da! | 0:36:23 | 0:36:24
Once you've mastered the basics, you can | 0:36:24 | 0:36:26
move on to more difficult things like this. | 0:36:26 | 0:36:29
Oh, I'm ready. | 0:36:29 | 0:36:30
OK, I'm not ready. | 0:36:33 | 0:36:34
BOTH: And that is how to be epic at the ribbon. | 0:36:34 | 0:36:37
Twirltastic skills. Thanks, girls! | 0:36:37 | 0:36:39
Hey, if you thought that the ribbon was epic, | 0:36:41 | 0:36:43
then wait until you see what this guy can do. | 0:36:43 | 0:36:45
He's not an Olympian, he's a brill-lympian. Cheers. | 0:36:45 | 0:36:49
Hi, I'm Max Byrne, | 0:36:49 | 0:36:51
and I'm going to show you how to fold a T-shirt in less than five seconds. | 0:36:51 | 0:36:55
But first I'm going to show you how to fold one in one second. | 0:36:55 | 0:36:58
Seriously, though? | 0:36:58 | 0:36:59
First, you're going to need a T-shirt. Boom. Stay. | 0:36:59 | 0:37:02
Then what you're going to do is you're going to | 0:37:02 | 0:37:05
imagine that there is a line cutting the T-shirt in half. That'll do. | 0:37:05 | 0:37:08
Now, you're going to move in five centimetres in from that line, | 0:37:08 | 0:37:12
and you're going to pinch it with your right hand. | 0:37:12 | 0:37:15
Then you're going to imagine another line heading up towards | 0:37:15 | 0:37:17
the neck of the T-shirt. | 0:37:17 | 0:37:19
You're going to pinch that with your left hand. | 0:37:19 | 0:37:21
You're going to bring your left hand underneath your right hand, | 0:37:21 | 0:37:25
grabbing the hem of the T-shirt. Now this is the tricky bit. | 0:37:25 | 0:37:28
You're going to unfold your arms, and at the same time, keep pinching. | 0:37:28 | 0:37:31
It's not that tricky. | 0:37:31 | 0:37:32
Whoa! | 0:37:32 | 0:37:34 | |
And then you just fold it neatly. | 0:37:34 | 0:37:36
Epic. | 0:37:36 | 0:37:37 | |
Beat that, Mum. | 0:37:37 | 0:37:39
Yeah, beat that, Mum. Thanks, Max! | 0:37:39 | 0:37:41
It's nearly over, folks, but don't get sad, | 0:37:41 | 0:37:44
because we've got one last dose of epicocity for you. | 0:37:44 | 0:37:47
Hello! I'm Stefan Gates and I'm going to show you how to make escargots! | 0:37:47 | 0:37:52
-That's snails to you and me. -Oh. | 0:37:52 | 0:37:55
For this, you will need an adult to help you with the cooking, | 0:37:55 | 0:37:58
and also, down here, some butter, garlic, herbs, and of course, snails. | 0:37:58 | 0:38:04
Some of the snails you find slithering around in your own | 0:38:04 | 0:38:08
garden can be edible. | 0:38:08 | 0:38:09
What you need to do is purge them first so their insides are nice | 0:38:09 | 0:38:12
and clean before you eat them. | 0:38:12 | 0:38:14
Clean snail. Good idea. | 0:38:14 | 0:38:16
The way you purge a snail is by feeding | 0:38:16 | 0:38:19
it on carrots for at least three days before cooking. | 0:38:19 | 0:38:23
Or you could just buy them from a shop. | 0:38:23 | 0:38:25
First thing we've got to do is to cook our snails. | 0:38:25 | 0:38:28
Now, the best thing to do is to put them in the fridge to make them | 0:38:28 | 0:38:31
go to sleep first. | 0:38:31 | 0:38:32
What we do is, we take our snails and we drop them into boiling water. | 0:38:32 | 0:38:37
They need to cook in there for about ten or 15 minutes. | 0:38:37 | 0:38:40
While that's on the boil, we make our garlicky butter. | 0:38:40 | 0:38:43
It's dead, dead simple. | 0:38:43 | 0:38:44
You need some soft butter, some crushed garlic | 0:38:44 | 0:38:46
and then some herbs chopped up really, really fine. | 0:38:46 | 0:38:49
Mix them all together, it'll look a bit like that. | 0:38:49 | 0:38:51
Smells absolutely delicious. | 0:38:51 | 0:38:54
DING! | 0:38:54 | 0:38:55 | |
Snails are ready, Stefan! | 0:38:55 | 0:38:56
Let's take a look at the snails. | 0:38:56 | 0:38:58
Now, you need to get one of these little cocktail sticks | 0:39:00 | 0:39:03
and dig the snail out of the shell. | 0:39:03 | 0:39:05
Mmm! | 0:39:05 | 0:39:06 | |
STEFAN LAUGHS | 0:39:06 | 0:39:08
I'm going to give the snails themselves a rinse | 0:39:08 | 0:39:10
so they're not too slimy. | 0:39:10 | 0:39:11
Yeah, wash the slime off. Good idea, Stefan. Now what? | 0:39:11 | 0:39:14
Take the snail, put it back into the shell, | 0:39:14 | 0:39:18
and then cover it with a big slab of your garlicky butter. | 0:39:18 | 0:39:23
Mwah-ha-ha! Then take the snail and put it into an oven proof dish. | 0:39:23 | 0:39:28
I put some rock salt here so it will stand those little snails up. | 0:39:28 | 0:39:32
That's the snails all ready to go. | 0:39:32 | 0:39:33
They need to go into a hot oven at 180 degrees for about ten minutes. | 0:39:33 | 0:39:37
Let's cook these babies! | 0:39:37 | 0:39:39
When your snails are baked, take them out of the oven and serve. | 0:39:40 | 0:39:44
And that, my friends, is how to be epic at escargot. | 0:39:44 | 0:39:48
All hail the snail! Thanks, Stefan! | 0:39:49 | 0:39:52
So, there you have it, your Quick Blast of epicness. | 0:39:52 | 0:39:57
Now go forth and be epic at everything! | 0:39:57 | 0:40:00 |
