Scorpion Island. | 0:00:13 | 0:00:15
Isolated in the vast depths of a wild and brutal ocean. | 0:00:15 | 0:00:19
There are only two ways to reach its shore. | 0:00:19 | 0:00:23
By air or, for the very brave, | 0:00:23 | 0:00:27
via the ferocious sea. | 0:00:27 | 0:00:29
10 daring adventurers are about to face the challenge of their lives. | 0:00:29 | 0:00:35
-Faster! -Yes! | 0:00:35 | 0:00:37
-Bring it up! -Don't throw it! | 0:00:37 | 0:00:40
No! | 0:00:40 | 0:00:42 | |
We have got to try our best. | 0:00:42 | 0:00:44
-Are you ready? -Ready! | 0:00:44 | 0:00:46
Yes! | 0:00:46 | 0:00:48 | |
There will be conflict. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:50
Someone has to tell them it's wrong. | 0:00:50 | 0:00:53
Maybe someone else should have a go. | 0:00:53 | 0:00:55
Shall we move on, set it aside? | 0:00:55 | 0:00:58
But just when they think they've conquered the island, | 0:00:58 | 0:01:03
it will sabotage their mission. | 0:01:03 | 0:01:06
-What?! -What? | 0:01:06 | 0:01:08
To escape from Scorpion Island. | 0:01:08 | 0:01:11
Hello! Welcome to Scorpion Island. I'm Myleene. | 0:01:39 | 0:01:43
This time the island has a really big sting in its tail. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:47
I'm Johny. In just a moment, 10 brave adventurers will arrive | 0:01:47 | 0:01:51
to take on the island's challenges and devious twists and turns. | 0:01:51 | 0:01:55
They'll make some new friends and enemies. | 0:01:55 | 0:01:59
Scorpion Island never lets up. It will push them to the edge. | 0:01:59 | 0:02:03
It's going to be a real test. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:05
The waters around Scorpion Island are treacherous, | 0:02:05 | 0:02:10
filled with intimidating and deadly creatures. | 0:02:10 | 0:02:14
The 10 new adventurers are unaware of what they are up against | 0:02:14 | 0:02:18
as they prepare to make their way towards Scorpion Island. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:23
They will be racing high above the murky depths | 0:02:23 | 0:02:27
across the treacherous unknown waters. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:30
Who knows what will lurk beneath? | 0:02:30 | 0:02:33
A launch boat is taking them to an unknown destination. | 0:02:33 | 0:02:37
They're boarding rescue speed boats to race the powerful currents. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:44
For one adventurer, facing the raging seas is terrifying. | 0:02:44 | 0:02:48
I'm really feeling nervous about going in boats today. | 0:02:48 | 0:02:53
When I've looked at them, I thought, "That looks really unstable." | 0:02:53 | 0:02:57
I don't really want to do that. | 0:02:57 | 0:03:00
So I'm really nervous about it, but I want to conquer my fear. | 0:03:00 | 0:03:05
But this frightening, yet exciting journey is challenging others | 0:03:05 | 0:03:10
and they must face their fears, too. | 0:03:10 | 0:03:13
The thing about water that I'm so nervous about is | 0:03:13 | 0:03:17
when I look into the water, all I see is something blue. | 0:03:17 | 0:03:21
And I feel like I'm going to fall into it. | 0:03:21 | 0:03:25
I'm new to swimming. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:29
I haven't really been swimming a lot | 0:03:29 | 0:03:32
before I knew I was coming to Scorpion Island. | 0:03:32 | 0:03:36
Because the crashing waves are too aggressive for the boat, | 0:03:36 | 0:03:40
it must leave the adventurers isolated in the turbulent waters. | 0:03:40 | 0:03:45
They must ready themselves to go through the ocean barrier | 0:03:45 | 0:03:49
that protects the island. They'll need to hold on tight. | 0:03:49 | 0:03:53
They're about to face the ride of their lives. | 0:03:53 | 0:03:58
THEY SCREAM | 0:04:00 | 0:04:03
It's very choppy today, so that boat is going up and down. | 0:04:08 | 0:04:12
I can hear the screams. | 0:04:12 | 0:04:14
They must be torn between terror and exhilaration | 0:04:14 | 0:04:19
knowing that they might fall in at any moment. | 0:04:19 | 0:04:23
Some adventurers are confident. | 0:04:26 | 0:04:29
I'm fearless. Nothing scares me. | 0:04:29 | 0:04:31
I'm really good at skiing | 0:04:31 | 0:04:34
and I started snowboarding to help my balance and co-ordination. | 0:04:34 | 0:04:38
I'm not worried about going. I'll do my best when I go there. | 0:04:40 | 0:04:46
And I think this is maybe a good way to express myself. | 0:04:46 | 0:04:51
Others may be worried, but they're ready for a new adventure. | 0:04:53 | 0:04:58
I have never left Wales before except for once to go to Lapland | 0:04:59 | 0:05:04
with my mum and dad. But I should be OK. | 0:05:04 | 0:05:08
I'm worried about Scorpion Island | 0:05:11 | 0:05:14
because Scorpion Island is mischief | 0:05:14 | 0:05:17
and just does things that are out of the blue at you. | 0:05:17 | 0:05:21
Scorpion Island is an adventure. | 0:05:27 | 0:05:29
I want to achieve something and hopefully win. | 0:05:29 | 0:05:33
I just get really worried that I'm going to let my team down. | 0:05:39 | 0:05:44
Going to Scorpion Island scares me one little bit because | 0:05:49 | 0:05:53
I'm not going there with any parents. I've only met these people once. | 0:05:53 | 0:05:58
So it's sort of like a trust issue, | 0:05:58 | 0:06:01
but I'm sure that within the first two days I'll be fine. | 0:06:01 | 0:06:06
They're approaching the beach to take on Scorpion Island. | 0:06:14 | 0:06:18
Legend is about to be rewritten. | 0:06:18 | 0:06:20
I made it! | 0:06:25 | 0:06:28
- This is awesome! - Whoo! | 0:06:30 | 0:06:34
They've done it. They've arrived. | 0:06:41 | 0:06:44
They look happy to be on dry land. | 0:06:51 | 0:06:53
The adventurers who were nervous have overcome their initial fears. | 0:06:53 | 0:06:59
That was the best fun I've ever had. I'm so glad I didn't chicken out. | 0:06:59 | 0:07:03
That was so much fun. I loved that. | 0:07:05 | 0:07:09
We made it! Yeah! | 0:07:11 | 0:07:13
Absolutely amazing! We were bumping! | 0:07:18 | 0:07:22
We were bouncing across the waves. Oh, it was fun. | 0:07:22 | 0:07:26
Whoo! | 0:07:27 | 0:07:29 | |
It was SO bumpy and so fast. You're, like, in the air. | 0:07:29 | 0:07:34
And then you all of a sudden stop. It's brilliant. | 0:07:34 | 0:07:38
Welcome to Scorpion Island. You guys were selected as the best | 0:07:44 | 0:07:49
to take on the island. | 0:07:49 | 0:07:51
You will be following the trail of the mysterious fortune hunter. | 0:07:51 | 0:07:56
He came to the island and plundered its treasure. | 0:07:56 | 0:07:59
However, he didn't escape the island and has since disappeared. | 0:07:59 | 0:08:03
Scorpion Island relishes its splendid isolation | 0:08:05 | 0:08:11
and uses its natural world as its impenetrable defence system. | 0:08:11 | 0:08:15
Its virtually impassable ocean and shore | 0:08:15 | 0:08:19
gives way to its dangerous jungles, thick, swampy lagoons, | 0:08:19 | 0:08:23
exotic plants and creatures. | 0:08:23 | 0:08:26
The island is alive. | 0:08:27 | 0:08:29
Our ten adventurers are not the first to take on the island. | 0:08:31 | 0:08:36
In recent times, an adventurer came from far across the seas. | 0:08:36 | 0:08:40
He was a fortune hunter | 0:08:40 | 0:08:42
whose mission was to plunder the island of its legendary treasure, | 0:08:42 | 0:08:47
the treasure that represents its precious life. | 0:08:47 | 0:08:52
He took on the island's challenges, succeeded | 0:08:55 | 0:08:59
and won all of the treasure. | 0:08:59 | 0:09:02
But he failed in his final escape. | 0:09:03 | 0:09:06
As an ultimate act of revenge, | 0:09:07 | 0:09:09
the furious island threw the treasures deep into its jungles | 0:09:09 | 0:09:13
and mischievously captured the fortune hunter's spirit | 0:09:13 | 0:09:18
-and locked it away. -Aaaargh! | 0:09:18 | 0:09:21
His legacy remains scattered across the island. | 0:09:26 | 0:09:30
But now the island is more guarded than ever | 0:09:37 | 0:09:41
and our ten new adventurers must follow the path that he created. | 0:09:41 | 0:09:45
So, guys, the island has hidden the treasure once more. | 0:09:45 | 0:09:50
It's up to you guys to find it. You will be split into two teams. | 0:09:50 | 0:09:55
It's up to your team to find an island treasure each day. | 0:09:55 | 0:09:59
The more treasure you find, the better your chances of escaping. | 0:09:59 | 0:10:04
The island is trying to communicate with you right now. | 0:10:04 | 0:10:08
Over there are a bunch of bottles with a message from the island. | 0:10:08 | 0:10:13
Inside these ten glass bottles is a parchment | 0:10:23 | 0:10:27
containing a specially-coded message for each adventurer. | 0:10:27 | 0:10:32
I want you to go over to the bottles and find your own message. | 0:10:34 | 0:10:38
What are you waiting for, guys? Go! | 0:10:38 | 0:10:40
Each bottle contains a parchment with the name of an adventurer, | 0:10:45 | 0:10:49
the number 1 or 2 and a unique mysterious symbol. | 0:10:49 | 0:10:55
What could the island be trying to tell them? | 0:10:55 | 0:10:58
- I've got 1. Who's got 2? - What does 2 mean? | 0:11:00 | 0:11:04
What does 2 mean? | 0:11:04 | 0:11:08
It's a map! It's a map! | 0:11:09 | 0:11:13
Maybe we have to find each symbol. | 0:11:13 | 0:11:16
The challenges - there could be symbols on the wall or something | 0:11:16 | 0:11:21
and whatever lights up, it's that person who's doing the challenge. | 0:11:21 | 0:11:26
- Everyone take a step back. - Yeah, step back. | 0:11:26 | 0:11:29
Everybody show each other. | 0:11:29 | 0:11:31
- I've got a shell. - A circle. | 0:11:31 | 0:11:33
- I've got a monkey. - I've got lightning. | 0:11:33 | 0:11:37
- The sun. - A snake. | 0:11:37 | 0:11:39
Come in then, guys. Come in. Have you all got your parchments? | 0:11:41 | 0:11:46
OK. | 0:11:46 | 0:11:47 | |
On your parchment is a number. One or two. | 0:11:47 | 0:11:51
-Yeah. -OK. Will Team One please stand to my left? | 0:11:51 | 0:11:55
And Team Two to my right. | 0:11:57 | 0:12:00
As you can see, guys, for the first time ever | 0:12:03 | 0:12:07
the island has decided it's boys against girls. | 0:12:07 | 0:12:12
After defeating the fortune hunter, | 0:12:13 | 0:12:16
the island made its defences stronger than ever before | 0:12:16 | 0:12:20
and in an attempt to surprise the adventurers, | 0:12:20 | 0:12:24
for the first time it's a battle of boys versus girls. | 0:12:24 | 0:12:29
-No girls! -The two teams must battle against each other | 0:12:29 | 0:12:33
in terrifying challenges devised by the island. | 0:12:33 | 0:12:37
It will test their physical prowess, | 0:12:37 | 0:12:40
their determination and their teamwork. | 0:12:41 | 0:12:46
- Go, go, go! - Here! | 0:12:46 | 0:12:48
It's the last one we've got. | 0:12:48 | 0:12:50
Only the winning team can follow in the footsteps of the fortune hunter | 0:12:50 | 0:12:55
-and gain an island treasure. -The boys! | 0:12:55 | 0:12:58
The girls! | 0:12:58 | 0:13:01
But the island will manipulate them. | 0:13:01 | 0:13:03
We need to bond together. The island will put us to the test. | 0:13:03 | 0:13:08
And do everything it can to see that they fail. | 0:13:08 | 0:13:12
When you lose, you learn from it. | 0:13:12 | 0:13:15
ALL: We are the boys and the best! | 0:13:15 | 0:13:18
ALL: Here we go! | 0:13:18 | 0:13:20
Who will be their first team captain? It's decision time. | 0:13:20 | 0:13:25
This should be interesting. | 0:13:27 | 0:13:30
For me? | 0:13:30 | 0:13:32
-ALL: Aye! -OK, thank you, people. | 0:13:34 | 0:13:37
Thank you. | 0:13:37 | 0:13:39
Everyone can have a go. | 0:13:41 | 0:13:43
ALL: Boys! | 0:13:43 | 0:13:45
-The boys look confident, girls. What do you say? -Bring it on! | 0:13:45 | 0:13:50
Have you decided on team captains? Who's team captain for the boys? | 0:13:50 | 0:13:55
-Me. -Zach. Are you ready to lead your team into battle? -Yes. | 0:13:55 | 0:13:59
-Feeling confident? -I just don't want to lose! -Good luck. | 0:13:59 | 0:14:03
-Girls, have you decided? -Lizzie! -Lizzie. | 0:14:03 | 0:14:07
-Are you feeling confident? -Yep. -Think you can take on Zach? | 0:14:07 | 0:14:11
-Any day! -Brilliant. | 0:14:11 | 0:14:13
So everyone feels very confident, but this might switch things up. | 0:14:13 | 0:14:18
Your parchments also have a symbol. | 0:14:18 | 0:14:21
-Did you notice that? -Yeah. | 0:14:21 | 0:14:24
Throughout your island life, these are important. | 0:14:24 | 0:14:28
They're very important now because in this bag I have 10 symbols. | 0:14:28 | 0:14:33
I'll pick one out. If it's your symbol, you'll get to choose | 0:14:33 | 0:14:38
who goes first in today's Island Challenge. | 0:14:38 | 0:14:42
The Island Challenges are crucial. | 0:14:42 | 0:14:45
The teams battle against each other to win their first island treasure. | 0:14:45 | 0:14:50
But there are ten symbols and only one can be picked. | 0:14:51 | 0:14:55
Who will be lucky - the boys or the girls? | 0:14:55 | 0:14:58
Who has this symbol? | 0:14:59 | 0:15:02
-Everybody show each other. -That looks like mountains. | 0:15:04 | 0:15:08
The Scorpion Island mountains were assigned to Peter. | 0:15:08 | 0:15:13
Peter, you have this symbol. | 0:15:13 | 0:15:15
So you get the choice of who goes first. This is important. | 0:15:15 | 0:15:20
I'll give you a few seconds to talk amongst yourselves. | 0:15:20 | 0:15:24
-Second, second. -So we can see how the girls are going on. | 0:15:27 | 0:15:31
Come on then, guys. I have to rush you. Zach, I saw you take the lead. | 0:15:31 | 0:15:36
Have you made the decision? | 0:15:36 | 0:15:38
Yeah, second. That way we can see what the girls are like | 0:15:38 | 0:15:42
-and hopefully beat them by more. -Very clever! | 0:15:42 | 0:15:46
How do you feel about that, girls? How do you feel about going first? | 0:15:46 | 0:15:51
All right, but a bit annoyed. | 0:15:51 | 0:15:53
OK, it is time for your first Island Challenge, | 0:15:53 | 0:15:57
so go and join Myleene in the jungle. Go on, guys. Who will win? | 0:15:57 | 0:16:02
It's all to play for! | 0:16:02 | 0:16:04
The only way to travel to the heart of the dense jungle is by air, | 0:16:06 | 0:16:11
where they will face their first terrifying Island Challenge. | 0:16:11 | 0:16:16
As they prepare to play, let's get to know the girls. | 0:16:26 | 0:16:31
Khadie. | 0:16:31 | 0:16:33
I'm quite fast and I can do a lot of quick swimming games | 0:16:33 | 0:16:38
and racing games. I do football a lot. | 0:16:38 | 0:16:43
I have to do training two times a week. | 0:16:43 | 0:16:47
Because I'm the youngest in that group, it's quite hard to keep up. | 0:16:47 | 0:16:51
Natty. | 0:16:51 | 0:16:53
We go camping every year to quite a deserted island, so I'll cope well. | 0:16:53 | 0:16:59
When I'm fired up, I get a bit pushy, like on a netball court | 0:16:59 | 0:17:04
and you're really going for it and you start pushing them around | 0:17:04 | 0:17:08
to get the ball. I do get a bit carried away like that, | 0:17:08 | 0:17:12
but I'll try not to get too carried away. | 0:17:12 | 0:17:15
-Eleanor. -At school, I'm the oldest of my group of friends. | 0:17:15 | 0:17:19
I'm quite good at bossing people around, | 0:17:19 | 0:17:24
but I like to make sure everyone's happy with what they're doing | 0:17:24 | 0:17:28
and not upset about something. | 0:17:28 | 0:17:30
-Lizzie. -If I was chosen for the challenge, | 0:17:30 | 0:17:34
I would just focus hard. | 0:17:34 | 0:17:37
I'm profoundly deaf and wear a cochlear implant, | 0:17:37 | 0:17:41
but that makes me listen to people. | 0:17:41 | 0:17:43
I've learnt to lip read people from such a young age, | 0:17:43 | 0:17:48
like since I was one and a half. | 0:17:48 | 0:17:50
I've had to practise all these years and so I've got better at it. | 0:17:50 | 0:17:55
I lip read people by the movement on their lips. | 0:17:55 | 0:17:59
I just... look at the movement of it | 0:17:59 | 0:18:03
and then I can know the words. | 0:18:03 | 0:18:06
And Jeremy. | 0:18:06 | 0:18:08
If I have an opinion, I will put it forward. Sometimes I get in arguments | 0:18:08 | 0:18:14
because sometimes I like things my own way. | 0:18:14 | 0:18:17
When I have feelings, other people might take it nasty | 0:18:17 | 0:18:22
and sometimes we have little arguments, but I make sure they know | 0:18:22 | 0:18:26
it wasn't anything mean to them. | 0:18:26 | 0:18:28
The boys and girls have made their way to the first Island Challenge. | 0:18:33 | 0:18:38
The girls are going first and both teams know if they win | 0:18:38 | 0:18:42
they get the first island treasure. Let's look at what's up for grabs. | 0:18:42 | 0:18:47
Scorpion Island is teeming with nature | 0:18:48 | 0:18:52
and carefully guards its treasures that represent life on the island. | 0:18:52 | 0:18:57
Following the path that the fortune hunter created, | 0:18:57 | 0:19:01
both teams will battle the island. | 0:19:01 | 0:19:04
If they win, it will reward them with a priceless treasure. | 0:19:04 | 0:19:09
The more treasures they are awarded, the greater the advantage they gain | 0:19:10 | 0:19:15
in the final race to release the fortune hunter's spirit and escape. | 0:19:15 | 0:19:20
So it's time to reveal the island's first treasure - the silver eagle. | 0:19:20 | 0:19:25
The eagle represents freedom from the island, | 0:19:31 | 0:19:35
something both our teams want, but the fortune hunter was denied. | 0:19:35 | 0:19:41
First up, it's the girls. That's Eleanor, | 0:19:45 | 0:19:48
Natty, | 0:19:48 | 0:19:50
Khadie, | 0:19:50 | 0:19:52
Jeremy | 0:19:52 | 0:19:54
and today's captain, Lizzie. | 0:19:54 | 0:19:56
This is Chasm of Chaos. | 0:20:00 | 0:20:03
In the heart of the island is a huge ravine with two crossings. | 0:20:03 | 0:20:08
Lower down is a flimsy bridge on which four team members stand | 0:20:08 | 0:20:12
holding coloured nets. | 0:20:12 | 0:20:15
More than three storeys high is a precarious cable | 0:20:15 | 0:20:19
and the team captains have to go across | 0:20:19 | 0:20:22
with only hoops and monkey bars for balance. | 0:20:22 | 0:20:27
Strapped to the edge of the wobbly platforms are four cogs | 0:20:27 | 0:20:30
which they must detach one at a time and drop into matching coloured nets | 0:20:30 | 0:20:36
as quickly as possible. If a cog misses a net or is otherwise lost, | 0:20:36 | 0:20:41
the captain has to go the end where there are spares of each colour. | 0:20:41 | 0:20:46
So they've got three chances at each drop, but the more they use up, | 0:20:46 | 0:20:51
the more time is wasted. | 0:20:51 | 0:20:53
And the team that catches the right cogs | 0:20:53 | 0:20:57
and then gets their captain to the end quickest wins. | 0:20:57 | 0:21:02
The teams are playing for the first island treasure, the silver eagle, | 0:21:02 | 0:21:06
so you just know they're going to give it their all. | 0:21:06 | 0:21:11
Girls, welcome to Chasm of Chaos. This challenge needs strong legs, | 0:21:11 | 0:21:18
a good sense of aim and target and, most importantly, | 0:21:18 | 0:21:22
no fear of heights whatsoever. How are you feeling, Lizzie? | 0:21:22 | 0:21:27
-I'm still confident. -Good, good. It doesn't scare you? -No. | 0:21:27 | 0:21:33
-How about the rest of you guys? -Excited. And a bit nervous. | 0:21:33 | 0:21:37
-Why's that? -Cos it's the first challenge. | 0:21:37 | 0:21:40
And we want to beat the boys. | 0:21:40 | 0:21:44
Ah, now we get down to it. | 0:21:44 | 0:21:46
How important is it to beat them? | 0:21:46 | 0:21:49
We want to beat them, but we won't be too hard on ourselves if we lose. | 0:21:49 | 0:21:53
But you'll be pretty hard on them. What about the boys watching you? | 0:21:53 | 0:21:59
They'll be able to see what we're doing | 0:21:59 | 0:22:04
and pick up some tactics, so it might be easier for them. | 0:22:04 | 0:22:08
In that case, start talking strategy. It's time for team talk. | 0:22:08 | 0:22:13
Don't rush, but go for it. | 0:22:13 | 0:22:15
When you get one, just drop it. | 0:22:15 | 0:22:18
When you're doing it, don't throw it. | 0:22:18 | 0:22:22
-I'll say, "Ready?" then drop it. -And try not to miss more than twice! | 0:22:22 | 0:22:27
And if we lose this challenge, it's not the end of the world, guys. | 0:22:27 | 0:22:32
-Right, so team talk over. Time to do it. Ready? -Yeah! -OK. | 0:22:32 | 0:22:37
The boys have chosen to take this challenge on second | 0:22:40 | 0:22:44
so they get to watch the girls. | 0:22:44 | 0:22:46
It could be a real advantage for when they take it on. | 0:22:46 | 0:22:51
OK, girls, are you ready? | 0:22:51 | 0:22:54
YES!! | 0:22:54 | 0:22:55 | |
-Three, two, one...go! -Come on, Lizzie! | 0:22:55 | 0:23:00
Lizzie's wasting no time. | 0:23:00 | 0:23:03
This has got to go into Khadie's red net. | 0:23:03 | 0:23:06
-As quick as you can. -They're asking her to get across to Khadie faster, | 0:23:06 | 0:23:12
but it's not easy. Lizzie is 5 metres above the rest | 0:23:12 | 0:23:16
and they're already two storeys off the bottom of the chasm. | 0:23:16 | 0:23:21
So Lizzie's moving impressively quickly | 0:23:21 | 0:23:25
and it's giving the boys some ideas. | 0:23:25 | 0:23:27
You need to go down to that net, drop it in. | 0:23:27 | 0:23:31
Brilliant! Are you ready? Bring it in a bit. | 0:23:31 | 0:23:36
Lizzie's in place and trying to gauge the perfect drop. | 0:23:36 | 0:23:40
At this height, it's so difficult. | 0:23:40 | 0:23:42
-Please, drop it. -Try, just try! | 0:23:42 | 0:23:47
And here she goes. ..Oh, no! | 0:23:47 | 0:23:50
Yes! | 0:23:50 | 0:23:51 | |
-Khadie missed it! -Lizzie makes great time getting in position | 0:23:51 | 0:23:56
and Khadie seemed braced for it, | 0:23:56 | 0:23:59
but Lizzie's aim is off and it just plummets past. | 0:23:59 | 0:24:03
Unlucky, but is it just the practice shot the girls needed? | 0:24:03 | 0:24:07
Go again! Get the yellow. | 0:24:07 | 0:24:11
- Quickly! - Grab the yellow. | 0:24:11 | 0:24:14
The yellow! | 0:24:14 | 0:24:16
That's a good idea, that is. Just get what the closest one is. | 0:24:16 | 0:24:21
Everyone seems to think this is a good tactic from Lizzie, | 0:24:21 | 0:24:27
but can she get the yellow cog in Natty's net? | 0:24:27 | 0:24:30
-She is moving so quickly. -Get the blue. Drop that in Natty's | 0:24:30 | 0:24:35
-and get the blue coming back. -That's the hard bit. | 0:24:35 | 0:24:40
The boys think they're learning a lot. Will they learn from this? | 0:24:40 | 0:24:45
Go. | 0:24:45 | 0:24:47 | |
GO! | 0:24:47 | 0:24:48 | |
-Get in there. -Ooh! | 0:24:48 | 0:24:52
-Yes! -Missed! | 0:24:52 | 0:24:55
Lizzie takes a long time to aim, | 0:24:55 | 0:24:58
but it bounces off the edge of Natty's net. It was closer, | 0:24:58 | 0:25:03
but it's two misses so far. They really need to improve. | 0:25:03 | 0:25:07
- Get the blue! - Try to line it up first. | 0:25:07 | 0:25:11
Lizzie's collected the blue cog, but can't let the pressure get to her. | 0:25:11 | 0:25:17
- Yeah, go! - Go quickly! | 0:25:17 | 0:25:21
-Jeremy's got it! Quickly! -Eleanor's taking charge, | 0:25:21 | 0:25:24
telling Lizzie to head over to Jeremy. Good advice. | 0:25:24 | 0:25:29
You're doing really well, Lizzie. | 0:25:29 | 0:25:31
The boys look nervous. Can Lizzie make them fret? She's going for it. | 0:25:31 | 0:25:36
Yes! | 0:25:38 | 0:25:40 | |
First cog! Jeremy caught it. | 0:25:40 | 0:25:43
It's third time lucky for the girls. | 0:25:43 | 0:25:46
Lizzie throws the blue cog just a touch nearer. | 0:25:46 | 0:25:49
It's only a tiny adjustment but puts it in Jeremy's reach. | 0:25:49 | 0:25:54
-Great stuff. -Lizzie! Go and get the yellow one. | 0:25:54 | 0:25:59
-Get the green and the yellow! -OK. -Yellow first. Get yellow first! | 0:25:59 | 0:26:04
OK. | 0:26:04 | 0:26:06 | |
Lizzie's heading all the way across to where the spare cogs are stashed, | 0:26:06 | 0:26:11
but it must be so confusing for her. They're all giving different advice. | 0:26:11 | 0:26:16
- Just get one at a time! - Come back for the green! | 0:26:16 | 0:26:20
She's collected another yellow. Oh, no! | 0:26:22 | 0:26:25
This could be bad news for the girls. While collecting a yellow, | 0:26:25 | 0:26:30
Lizzie dislodged the other. | 0:26:30 | 0:26:33
So just over three minutes in and they've only made one catch | 0:26:33 | 0:26:39
and lost two yellow cogs. To fill all four nets, | 0:26:39 | 0:26:42
they've got to get this last yellow cog into Natty's net. | 0:26:42 | 0:26:47
They have to move fast, but can't afford not to be bang on target. | 0:26:47 | 0:26:52
You need to get the aim perfect, but take your time dropping it. | 0:26:52 | 0:26:57
And I'm not being funny, but if I tell you to go left or right, go. | 0:26:57 | 0:27:02
That'll help me greatly. | 0:27:02 | 0:27:04
The boys sounds like they've got their plan together, | 0:27:04 | 0:27:08
but they're missing some impressive cable crossing from Lizzie. | 0:27:08 | 0:27:12
She's being so brave here. Can she match this with an accurate drop? | 0:27:12 | 0:27:17
- We can do this, guys. - I'm holding it here, Lizzie. | 0:27:17 | 0:27:23
- Lizzie, you can do this! - OK. | 0:27:23 | 0:27:27
Right. Guys... | 0:27:27 | 0:27:29
-Oh, no! -Yes! They're not going to get that one. | 0:27:29 | 0:27:33
Lizzie's aim is good, but Natty's concentration is off for the drop. | 0:27:33 | 0:27:39
It catches her by surprise so she doesn't react quickly enough. | 0:27:39 | 0:27:44
Their last yellow cog has gone, | 0:27:44 | 0:27:47
with any chance they had of filling all four nets. Nightmare. | 0:27:47 | 0:27:52
There's no telling if the boys will make an equally big mistake, | 0:27:52 | 0:27:57
so the girls need to push on to at least make three catches. | 0:27:57 | 0:28:01
-It could still be enough to win. -Brilliant! | 0:28:01 | 0:28:06
Come on, Lizzie! | 0:28:06 | 0:28:08
-I'm green, Lizzie! -Lizzie's heading to the middle to drop the green cog | 0:28:08 | 0:28:14
into Eleanor's net. Can they both keep their cool? | 0:28:14 | 0:28:19
I've noticed something - why she's dropping them. | 0:28:19 | 0:28:23
They're not putting the net out. | 0:28:23 | 0:28:25
So put it out a bit further for me, if that's OK. | 0:28:25 | 0:28:30
Zach sounds confident he's got this challenge worked out. | 0:28:30 | 0:28:34
But it's so much tougher up there | 0:28:34 | 0:28:37
with just hoops and monkey bars for balance. | 0:28:37 | 0:28:41
Can Lizzie keep focused and make a successful drop to Eleanor? | 0:28:41 | 0:28:45
Right there. Go! | 0:28:45 | 0:28:49
-There? -Drop it! | 0:28:50 | 0:28:53
Catch it, catch it, catch it. | 0:28:53 | 0:28:55
Go! | 0:28:55 | 0:28:56 | |
-Yes! -Yes! -She got it. | 0:28:56 | 0:28:59
This is just what the girls needed | 0:28:59 | 0:29:02
and with some terrific teamwork, just what they deserved. | 0:29:02 | 0:29:06
Lizzie's aim is perfect and Eleanor follows the cog with her eyes | 0:29:06 | 0:29:10
all the way into her net, so in six minutes, they've made two catches. | 0:29:10 | 0:29:15
Now can they make it three? | 0:29:15 | 0:29:17
Lizzie is racing across towards the spare cogs | 0:29:17 | 0:29:20
at the far end of the cable again. | 0:29:20 | 0:29:23
It's so wobbly up there, but she's not letting it worry her. | 0:29:23 | 0:29:27
Then again you wouldn't expect it to worry the girl | 0:29:28 | 0:29:31
who arrived on the island and said this. | 0:29:31 | 0:29:34
Nothing about Scorpion Island scares me. | 0:29:34 | 0:29:37
Well, that much is clear and it could be great news for the girls. | 0:29:37 | 0:29:42
You can do it, Lizzie. | 0:29:44 | 0:29:46
Excellent work. She's made it to the spare cogs and she's got a red one. | 0:29:46 | 0:29:51
If they get this, we need to get four. | 0:29:52 | 0:29:55
Three is the safe point if they get three, but four is the one to get. | 0:29:55 | 0:29:59
-We need to try and get four. -We have to beat them. | 0:29:59 | 0:30:02
The boys sound defiant, but also a little anxious. | 0:30:02 | 0:30:06
They can see just how hard this is. | 0:30:06 | 0:30:08
Can the girls give them something to really worry about | 0:30:08 | 0:30:11
by getting this last cog into Khadie's net? | 0:30:11 | 0:30:15
Right, go on to the plank. | 0:30:15 | 0:30:18
The first cog Lizzie dropped here was a red one | 0:30:18 | 0:30:21
and that time, Khadie had no chance of catching it. | 0:30:21 | 0:30:25
Lizzie seems to have got her eye in now, | 0:30:25 | 0:30:27
so will she be able to make things easier for Khadie this time around? | 0:30:27 | 0:30:31
Lizzie is concentrating and she's really leaning into the drop. | 0:30:31 | 0:30:36
-Yes! -She got it. Khadie got it. We've got a blue, a green and a red. | 0:30:36 | 0:30:40
The girls are flying through this. | 0:30:40 | 0:30:42
Brilliant. Just over seven minutes, the girls made their third catch. | 0:30:42 | 0:30:47
Maybe Khadie learnt from Eleanor's example. | 0:30:47 | 0:30:50
She doesn't let the cog out of sight until it hits her net. | 0:30:50 | 0:30:53
As they haven't got any more yellow cogs, | 0:30:53 | 0:30:56
this was the last catch they can make, | 0:30:56 | 0:30:59
so they just need Lizzie to get to the end platform ASAP. | 0:30:59 | 0:31:03
Get back to the platform! Quickly, get on to the platform! | 0:31:03 | 0:31:07
She is racing back, but what is she up to now? | 0:31:07 | 0:31:10
You just need to get on to the platform and then we're finished! | 0:31:10 | 0:31:14
Lizzie has got confused, but the clock is still ticking | 0:31:14 | 0:31:18
-and she needs to do what Eleanor says and fast! -Get on the platform! | 0:31:18 | 0:31:23
-Do whatever you think is right! -And she's there. | 0:31:23 | 0:31:26
Guys, that's the end of the game! | 0:31:26 | 0:31:30
Lizzie is across, but when her team needed her to move at top speed, | 0:31:30 | 0:31:34
she wasted time which, depending upon how the boys do, | 0:31:34 | 0:31:38
could prove crucial. Still, it was a good effort from the girls. | 0:31:38 | 0:31:42
What did they make of the challenge? | 0:31:42 | 0:31:45
It's a lot harder than it looks. You think it's going to be so easy. | 0:31:45 | 0:31:49
But it wasn't and I think Lizzie did really well. | 0:31:49 | 0:31:52
My team-mates performed really well | 0:31:52 | 0:31:54
because they put all their... They tried their hardest. | 0:31:54 | 0:31:58
Three of them out of four got their cogs in, so it was all good. | 0:31:58 | 0:32:02
Overall, I think we did perfectly. We did fine for the first time. | 0:32:02 | 0:32:06
You didn't do perfectly, Jeremy, but it was a strong first showing. | 0:32:08 | 0:32:13
Captain Lizzie never seemed troubled and moved at an impressive speed. | 0:32:13 | 0:32:18
She did send the first two cogs tumbling down into the creek, | 0:32:18 | 0:32:22
but with back-up from Jeremy, managed to get the third in. | 0:32:22 | 0:32:26
This was where things went wrong for the girls. | 0:32:26 | 0:32:29
Lizzie dislodged one yellow cog while collecting the next, | 0:32:29 | 0:32:33
then Natty wasn't paying attention when that one dropped. | 0:32:33 | 0:32:37
With all three yellow cogs lost, they could not fill all four nets. | 0:32:37 | 0:32:42
They battled on and helped by some outstanding direction from Eleanor, | 0:32:42 | 0:32:46
they netted three cogs and finished in seven minutes and 40 seconds. | 0:32:46 | 0:32:51
Have they done enough to win this Silver Eagle | 0:32:51 | 0:32:54
or can the boys do better? | 0:32:54 | 0:32:57
-Girls, well done. Did you enjoy yourselves? -Yeah. | 0:32:57 | 0:33:01
Lizzie, I thought you'd be freaking out because it's quite high. | 0:33:01 | 0:33:06
-Were you? -No. -How did you feel up there? | 0:33:06 | 0:33:09
Just worried we wouldn't catch it, but still, "It's going to be fun." | 0:33:09 | 0:33:13
You girls, it was like a coffee morning, you were all chatting away. | 0:33:13 | 0:33:18
What was going on there, Eleanor? | 0:33:18 | 0:33:20
We were just trying to get everyone to know what's going to happen. | 0:33:20 | 0:33:24
It was harder than it looked. | 0:33:24 | 0:33:26
We wanted to let each other know what was going on. | 0:33:26 | 0:33:30
When we got up there, we saw it was harder than it looked. | 0:33:30 | 0:33:34
We decided to change a bit of strategy, | 0:33:34 | 0:33:36
so we discussed what else we could do to make it easier for everyone else. | 0:33:36 | 0:33:41
How do you think the boys will fare? | 0:33:41 | 0:33:44
You think they'll have seen a strategy in play? | 0:33:44 | 0:33:47
Yeah, but whether they can actually do it is another thing. | 0:33:47 | 0:33:51
They might have a better strategy than us. It might work. | 0:33:51 | 0:33:56
But they might not want to risk ours. We did drop one. | 0:33:56 | 0:33:59
-Do you think they can beat you? -No. -No chance. | 0:33:59 | 0:34:03
-Girls have got better balance. -Let's see. | 0:34:03 | 0:34:06
We'll find out very shortly how the boys do. | 0:34:06 | 0:34:09
Still to come, the girls and the boys discover | 0:34:09 | 0:34:13
the fortune-hunter's extraordinary base camps, | 0:34:13 | 0:34:17
but it's been a while since they've been lived in. | 0:34:17 | 0:34:20
It's a little dark and dull and it's smelly too. | 0:34:20 | 0:34:23
It looks like you've just been dumped there. | 0:34:23 | 0:34:26
Who is this mysterious character that breached the island's defences? | 0:34:26 | 0:34:30
I'm not really sure about the fortune-hunter. | 0:34:30 | 0:34:34
I'm just curious about where this person is. | 0:34:34 | 0:34:37
And the boys have to face the Chasm of Chaos | 0:34:37 | 0:34:39
to win the first Island Treasure, | 0:34:39 | 0:34:43
for the pressure is on. | 0:34:43 | 0:34:45
Yes! | 0:34:45 | 0:34:47 | |
The teams have gone to look at their base camps. | 0:34:47 | 0:34:50
I wonder what they'll make of them? | 0:34:50 | 0:34:52
The base camps were made by the fortune-hunter | 0:34:52 | 0:34:55
and he used them for shelter and protection. | 0:34:55 | 0:34:58
They've been left untouched since he disappeared all those years ago. | 0:34:58 | 0:35:03
The first camp isn't as luxurious as the adventurers want it to be. | 0:35:03 | 0:35:07
It's Tree Camp, hidden in the dense jungle. | 0:35:07 | 0:35:09
The fortune-hunter built machines with which to plunder the island. | 0:35:09 | 0:35:13
It is a little dark and a little dull and it's smelly too, | 0:35:14 | 0:35:18
but I think we'll get used to it. | 0:35:18 | 0:35:21
Peter's looking on the bright side. | 0:35:21 | 0:35:23
What do the girls think of the abandoned Tree Camp? | 0:35:23 | 0:35:26
There's a rocking chair. | 0:35:26 | 0:35:28
When I saw the camp, I thought, "Oh, gosh!" | 0:35:28 | 0:35:32
It's dusty, it's old. It looks like you've just been dumped there. | 0:35:32 | 0:35:36
-I need more light. -This one's a bit dark. | 0:35:36 | 0:35:40
But over on the sunny side of the creek, | 0:35:40 | 0:35:43
it's River Camp with cool hammocks and the luxurious lagoon. | 0:35:43 | 0:35:46
This is where the fortune-hunter devised his master plans | 0:35:46 | 0:35:50
against the island's defences. | 0:35:50 | 0:35:52
The best thing about the River Camp is it feels homely, there's hammocks. | 0:35:52 | 0:35:57
You can relax. You can sit and chat and there's a built-in swimming pool. | 0:35:57 | 0:36:01
But the girls aren't the only ones who like River Camp. | 0:36:01 | 0:36:05
-Oh, look at that! -Look at that! Nice water! | 0:36:07 | 0:36:11
This place is like 100 times better than the last camp we saw. | 0:36:11 | 0:36:15
It's not smelly, it's not dull, it's not dark. | 0:36:15 | 0:36:18
This place has everything. | 0:36:18 | 0:36:20
I live behind a highway and it's always noisy. | 0:36:21 | 0:36:25
And when you hear the sound of the water, | 0:36:26 | 0:36:30
it's just so soothing, it's relaxing. | 0:36:30 | 0:36:32
If we sit down just now, I reckon we'll fall asleep straight away. | 0:36:32 | 0:36:37
How will the adventurers know which camp they get? | 0:36:37 | 0:36:41
The island will reveal exactly how in due course, | 0:36:41 | 0:36:44
but the boys are pretty clear on which camp they want. | 0:36:44 | 0:36:48
-If we do win, which camp will we go for? -This one. -Listen. | 0:36:48 | 0:36:52
Say "aye" for that one. LAUGHTER | 0:36:52 | 0:36:54
Say "aye" for this one. ALL: Aye! | 0:36:54 | 0:36:57
Let's meet the boys. | 0:37:03 | 0:37:05
James. | 0:37:06 | 0:37:08
I'm very good at climbing and making things | 0:37:08 | 0:37:12
out of all different types of things that you can find on the island. | 0:37:12 | 0:37:16
I'm very competitive. I do lots of swimming. I swim for a club. | 0:37:16 | 0:37:20
It's good to be competitive. It helps you when you want to beat the others. | 0:37:20 | 0:37:24
It pushes you even further. | 0:37:24 | 0:37:26
Peter. | 0:37:26 | 0:37:28
I'm really, really competitive. | 0:37:28 | 0:37:30
And if the opposing team were just this far ahead, | 0:37:30 | 0:37:35
I would never give up. | 0:37:35 | 0:37:38
Because I go to school seven days a week, | 0:37:38 | 0:37:42
I think this is a rare opportunity to get away | 0:37:42 | 0:37:46
and I'll try and enjoy it as much as I can. | 0:37:46 | 0:37:50
Jordan. | 0:37:50 | 0:37:52
I will bring great thinking. I'm a really good thinker. | 0:37:52 | 0:37:55
I think really quickly. | 0:37:55 | 0:37:58
I work out quite good strategies for each game and everything. | 0:37:58 | 0:38:02
If I was to fail in a task, it just would make me a better person | 0:38:02 | 0:38:07
by showing me what I need to improve on and everything. | 0:38:07 | 0:38:10
It would help me to learn about myself. | 0:38:10 | 0:38:13
Dilhan. | 0:38:14 | 0:38:16
I like to make lots and lots of noise - bang things together | 0:38:16 | 0:38:20
and stomp on the ground, scream and have a little bit of a laugh. | 0:38:20 | 0:38:24
I'm a bit of a comedian, so I bring laughter to the team as well. | 0:38:24 | 0:38:28
And Zach. | 0:38:28 | 0:38:29
I love, like, football and rugby and all the sports. | 0:38:29 | 0:38:33
But I don't want to get overly competitive. | 0:38:33 | 0:38:37
That's when my really ugly side comes out and it's not nice. | 0:38:37 | 0:38:41
Sometimes if I'm tired, I'm hungry and competitive, | 0:38:41 | 0:38:46
that's the worst cocktail for any bad behaviour with me. | 0:38:46 | 0:38:50
'Next up, it's the boys. | 0:38:55 | 0:38:58
'That's Jordan, James, | 0:38:58 | 0:39:02
'Dilhan, | 0:39:02 | 0:39:04
'Peter | 0:39:04 | 0:39:06
'and today's captain, Zach. | 0:39:06 | 0:39:09
'Because Peter's symbol was selected, the boys had the choice | 0:39:12 | 0:39:16
'of whether to take on the Chasm of Chaos first or second.' | 0:39:16 | 0:39:19
-Have you made a decision? -We'll go second. | 0:39:19 | 0:39:22
We'll see what the girls are like. | 0:39:22 | 0:39:25
They made the girls go first, a decision they seemed pleased with. | 0:39:25 | 0:39:29
It was a good idea to go second. | 0:39:29 | 0:39:32
We'll know what their strengths are and what their weaknesses are. | 0:39:32 | 0:39:36
They watched as Lizzie did what Zach will have to do, | 0:39:36 | 0:39:39
racing over a terrifying drop on nothing more than a narrow cable | 0:39:39 | 0:39:43
with monkey bars and hoops for balance. | 0:39:43 | 0:39:46
I need to go pretty fast because it's against the clock. | 0:39:46 | 0:39:50
She had to collect coloured cogs | 0:39:50 | 0:39:52
before dropping them into matching coloured nets. | 0:39:52 | 0:39:55
It's easy enough just dropping them down. The hard bit is catching them. | 0:39:55 | 0:40:00
One of the girls' cogs was lost and three missed the nets, | 0:40:00 | 0:40:04
so Lizzie had to go across the chasm | 0:40:04 | 0:40:07
to where two spares of each coloured cog were stashed. | 0:40:07 | 0:40:11
-Yes! -Because the girls wasted all three of their yellow cogs, | 0:40:11 | 0:40:15
they only made three catches before Lizzie headed to the end platform | 0:40:15 | 0:40:19
at seven minutes and 40 seconds. | 0:40:19 | 0:40:21
Three is the safe point if they get three. | 0:40:21 | 0:40:24
-But four is the one to get. -We must try and get four. | 0:40:24 | 0:40:27
The boys know if they can make all four catches | 0:40:27 | 0:40:31
or make three in less time than the girls, they will win. | 0:40:31 | 0:40:35
Zach sounds confident. | 0:40:35 | 0:40:37
I will tell you everything you need to know. | 0:40:37 | 0:40:40
Going second brings with it its own stress. | 0:40:40 | 0:40:43
Knowing what you must do means you know if you're not making the grade. | 0:40:43 | 0:40:47
So anything could happen in Round Two | 0:40:47 | 0:40:50
when the boys face Chasm of Chaos. | 0:40:50 | 0:40:52
You've been waiting eagerly to get up there. | 0:40:54 | 0:40:57
-Any pressures as team captain? -Yeah, cos it's the first challenge, | 0:40:57 | 0:41:01
so it's sort of like I want them to make sure that I'm a good captain. | 0:41:01 | 0:41:05
-You don't want a mutiny before you've even started? -Definitely. | 0:41:05 | 0:41:09
-How badly do you want that Island Treasure? -Pretty badly. | 0:41:09 | 0:41:13
-Not maybe the treasure, just mostly beating those girls. -Fighting talk! | 0:41:13 | 0:41:18
-Do you think you can beat them? -Yes! | 0:41:18 | 0:41:20
-You guys really mean business, don't you? -Yeah. -Let's do it! | 0:41:20 | 0:41:24
Boys, are you ready? | 0:41:27 | 0:41:30
Yes! | 0:41:30 | 0:41:32 | |
Three, two, one, go! | 0:41:32 | 0:41:36
-Go, Zach. -Come on, Zach. -Go! | 0:41:36 | 0:41:39
He's got the red cog and he's got to get it to James' red net. | 0:41:39 | 0:41:43
-Make sure it doesn't come off. -Come on, Zach! | 0:41:43 | 0:41:47
This is terrific encouragement from his team. | 0:41:47 | 0:41:50
How will he cope with crossing the cable? He's looking rather wobbly. | 0:41:50 | 0:41:54
-Come on, Zach! -He seems very focused. | 0:41:54 | 0:41:57
Just as well. If he thought about how frighteningly high up he is, | 0:41:57 | 0:42:01
it would surely put him off. | 0:42:01 | 0:42:04
-Oh, no! -Oh! | 0:42:06 | 0:42:08
He's dropped it. | 0:42:08 | 0:42:10
This is an awful piece of luck for the boys. | 0:42:10 | 0:42:14
The red cog becomes detached from Zach's elbow and falls down, | 0:42:14 | 0:42:18
bouncing off Dilhan's head before plunging into the ravine. | 0:42:18 | 0:42:22
There is a stash of spares all the way across the gorge, | 0:42:22 | 0:42:25
but getting there will waste precious time. | 0:42:25 | 0:42:28
That was not the start they were looking for, | 0:42:28 | 0:42:32
but Zach is moving straight on to the blue cog. | 0:42:32 | 0:42:35
He has to get it into Peter's blue net on the far side of the chasm. | 0:42:35 | 0:42:40
Peter's blue. Keep coming this way. Peter! | 0:42:40 | 0:42:43
-Come on, Zach. -Make sure you keep hold of it. -Hold on to it! | 0:42:43 | 0:42:47
The rest of the boys are being so supportive. | 0:42:47 | 0:42:50
They're giving him sound advice too. | 0:42:50 | 0:42:52
-It would be terrible if he dropped this one. -You're nearly there! | 0:42:52 | 0:42:57
Remember, when the girls played, they managed to lose four cogs, | 0:42:57 | 0:43:01
including three of the same colour, so they could only fill three nets. | 0:43:01 | 0:43:06
If he drops another red or blue, we're OK. | 0:43:06 | 0:43:09
The fewer the boys lose, the greater their chance of coming out on top. | 0:43:09 | 0:43:13
-You can do it! -It is alarmingly high up. | 0:43:13 | 0:43:17
But he's in place for his second drop. | 0:43:17 | 0:43:20
Bend down! Bend down, remember! | 0:43:20 | 0:43:23
GIRL: Miss it, miss it, miss it! | 0:43:23 | 0:43:25
BOYS: Yes! | 0:43:25 | 0:43:27
He's got it! Peter got it. | 0:43:27 | 0:43:29
Zach follows his team-mates' advice and leans down into the drop. | 0:43:29 | 0:43:33
His aim is true and Peter manages to hold on to the net | 0:43:33 | 0:43:37
as the weight of the cog buffets it down. Impressive! | 0:43:37 | 0:43:41
-Two and a half minutes in, the boys are off the mark. -It's like surfing! | 0:43:41 | 0:43:45
It might be like surfing, but this is a horrendous place for a wipeout. | 0:43:47 | 0:43:52
-Come on, Zach! -He looks properly shaky up there. | 0:43:53 | 0:43:57
-But he has got to get to the green cog. -Come on, Zach! | 0:43:57 | 0:44:01
That's it, hold it... | 0:44:01 | 0:44:03
We've got a good chance. He's going really slowly. | 0:44:03 | 0:44:06
Lizzie just grabbed it and ran. He's taking too much time. | 0:44:06 | 0:44:11
Eleanor's correct. Lizzie moved much quicker across the cable than Zach. | 0:44:11 | 0:44:17
Could this speed difference prove decisive? | 0:44:17 | 0:44:20
-Come on, Zach! -Come on, Zach! -See if you can go a bit faster! | 0:44:20 | 0:44:25
That's right, he does need to go faster. | 0:44:25 | 0:44:28
If both teams only get three cogs in their nets, | 0:44:28 | 0:44:31
it comes down to who manages this in the shortest time. | 0:44:31 | 0:44:35
-Come on, keep going! -Come on, Zach, speed it up a little! | 0:44:35 | 0:44:40
All the shouting will not help Zach keep his balance or concentration. | 0:44:40 | 0:44:45
But he delivers this green cog over towards Dilhan's green net. | 0:44:45 | 0:44:49
And he's going for it. | 0:44:49 | 0:44:51
-Yes! -Dilhan did it. Dilhan caught it. | 0:44:51 | 0:44:54
Zach reaches right over into the drop | 0:44:54 | 0:44:58
and the green cog zips down dead on target. It's their second catch. | 0:44:58 | 0:45:02
And after he'd taken one cog to the head, | 0:45:02 | 0:45:05
Dilhan must be delighted to have held on to this one. | 0:45:05 | 0:45:08
-Come on, Zach! -Faster, Zach! | 0:45:10 | 0:45:13
Now Zach's got the yellow cog | 0:45:13 | 0:45:16
which he has to take back across the cable to Jordan's yellow net. | 0:45:16 | 0:45:21
-Come on, Zach! -You're nearly there, Zach! | 0:45:21 | 0:45:24
You've done two. You're halfway. | 0:45:24 | 0:45:27
The yellow cogs were the ones that got the better of the girls. | 0:45:27 | 0:45:31
They lost the first one and both spares. Can the boys do any better? | 0:45:31 | 0:45:36
Come on, Zach, you can do it! | 0:45:36 | 0:45:39
Keep going! | 0:45:39 | 0:45:41
-Wrong one, wrong one! -Wrong one! | 0:45:41 | 0:45:43
You need to go over to Jordan. | 0:45:43 | 0:45:46
To me. Over here! | 0:45:46 | 0:45:48
-Jordan's right at the end. -Excellent guidance from James. | 0:45:48 | 0:45:52
If Zach dropped it from the wrong platform, it could be disastrous. | 0:45:52 | 0:45:56
-He's going for it. -Yes! | 0:45:56 | 0:46:00
-Oh, no. -Oh, this is really bad. | 0:46:00 | 0:46:02
Zach aims perfectly again. | 0:46:02 | 0:46:04
The force of the cog hitting his net almost drags Jordan over the edge! | 0:46:04 | 0:46:09
At the velocity they come down, these cogs make a serious impact. | 0:46:09 | 0:46:13
Still, Jordan got it. | 0:46:13 | 0:46:15
The boys have equalled the girls' catch count of three | 0:46:15 | 0:46:18
and they're not giving up just yet. | 0:46:18 | 0:46:21
-Zach, bring back the red! -He's heading for the spares. | 0:46:21 | 0:46:24
-Come on, Zach! -Come on, Zach, you can do it! | 0:46:24 | 0:46:28
-Come on, Zach, quicker! -Come on! | 0:46:28 | 0:46:31
The boys are right behind him here. What amazing support! | 0:46:31 | 0:46:35
And yes, he's got the red cog. | 0:46:35 | 0:46:38
As the girls finished on three catches, | 0:46:38 | 0:46:41
if Zach can get this one into James' red net for the boys' fourth catch, | 0:46:41 | 0:46:45
they will snatch the win | 0:46:45 | 0:46:47
and bag the first Island Treasure - the Silver Eagle. | 0:46:47 | 0:46:51
SHOUTING | 0:46:53 | 0:46:55
Go as fast as you can, Zach! Hold on to it! | 0:46:55 | 0:46:58
Come on, Zach, you're almost done! | 0:46:58 | 0:47:02
-Last one! -Hurry up, Zach! | 0:47:02 | 0:47:06
This is a real barrage of cheering. | 0:47:06 | 0:47:09
They're trying to give Zach a boost. | 0:47:09 | 0:47:11
But it would be awful if it ended up putting him off. | 0:47:11 | 0:47:14
How nerve-wracking! | 0:47:14 | 0:47:17
-Move to him! -This is fine. | 0:47:17 | 0:47:20
Move across a little bit. | 0:47:20 | 0:47:22
-Oh, I'm really worried about this. -No, don't say anything. | 0:47:22 | 0:47:27
And here it goes! | 0:47:27 | 0:47:30
-Missed! -Oh! He didn't get it. | 0:47:31 | 0:47:35
Just when the boys could have ensured victory, disaster strikes. | 0:47:35 | 0:47:40
Zach aims their second red cog well. | 0:47:40 | 0:47:43
James doesn't react quickly enough. | 0:47:43 | 0:47:45
It bounces off the edge of his net and into the chasm below, | 0:47:45 | 0:47:49
so everything hangs on the last red cog. | 0:47:49 | 0:47:52
Come on, get the red one, hurry! As quick as you can! | 0:47:52 | 0:47:56
Zach must be exhausted, | 0:47:56 | 0:47:58
but he knows the fate of his team is in his hands. | 0:47:58 | 0:48:01
Come on, Zach, that's it, last one! | 0:48:01 | 0:48:04
Come on! | 0:48:04 | 0:48:06
Come on, Zach! | 0:48:07 | 0:48:10
This is so tense, but yes, he's got it. | 0:48:10 | 0:48:13
-You're nearly there! Quick! -Come on, Zach! -Come on! | 0:48:13 | 0:48:17
He's making his way back towards James | 0:48:17 | 0:48:20
and he's even struggling to reach the hand holds now. | 0:48:20 | 0:48:24
-Yes, he's missing the hoops. -Move across! | 0:48:24 | 0:48:27
-You'll be able to reach it. -Keep going, you're fine! | 0:48:27 | 0:48:30
-Keep going! -Don't drop it, whatever you do! | 0:48:30 | 0:48:34
If he misses this, we'll win because he's taken so much longer. | 0:48:34 | 0:48:38
Ssh! Just watch it, watch it. | 0:48:38 | 0:48:40
The girls are right. The boys have taken more than eight minutes now, | 0:48:40 | 0:48:45
by which time in the girls' turn, Lizzie was on the end platform. | 0:48:45 | 0:48:50
The girls only made three catches, | 0:48:50 | 0:48:52
so the boys will now either get a fourth catch and win | 0:48:52 | 0:48:56
or they'll miss and lose as they took longer to get three catches. | 0:48:56 | 0:49:01
It has all come down to this. | 0:49:01 | 0:49:04
-Take your time. Now move over. Move over a bit more. -Is that in line? | 0:49:06 | 0:49:11
Zach is lining it up and he's gone for the drop. | 0:49:11 | 0:49:15
Yes! | 0:49:16 | 0:49:18 | |
Well done, Zach! | 0:49:18 | 0:49:20
Terrific stuff. Zach's aim is so precise this time | 0:49:20 | 0:49:24
that James doesn't even need to move to net the cog. | 0:49:24 | 0:49:28
It's the boys' fourth and final catch and guarantees them victory. | 0:49:28 | 0:49:33
Zach just needs to get himself to the end platform to seal the deal. | 0:49:33 | 0:49:37
-Come on, Zach! -Come on, Zach! | 0:49:37 | 0:49:40
And that's game over! | 0:49:40 | 0:49:43
Yes! | 0:49:43 | 0:49:45 | |
Well done, Zach! | 0:49:45 | 0:49:48
That was an outstanding first performance from the boys. | 0:49:48 | 0:49:52
They must be delighted. | 0:49:52 | 0:49:55
Awesome. I thought we'd drop the third one cos we dropped the others. | 0:49:55 | 0:49:59
I was nervous that we wouldn't beat them, | 0:49:59 | 0:50:02
but we did and I just caught it at the end. | 0:50:02 | 0:50:04
I'm very happy how my team-mates played. | 0:50:04 | 0:50:07
They played to their strengths, they didn't go off on their own plan. | 0:50:07 | 0:50:12
So I'm very proud of them and I think we deserved this win. | 0:50:12 | 0:50:16
The boys did deserve their win, | 0:50:18 | 0:50:20
even though there were moments when it looked like it would escape them. | 0:50:20 | 0:50:24
Before Zach could try to drop the red cog, | 0:50:24 | 0:50:27
it slipped from his wrist and plummeted down. | 0:50:27 | 0:50:30
They made the next three catches, | 0:50:30 | 0:50:32
but Zach never seemed to be moving as quickly | 0:50:32 | 0:50:35
as Lizzie had in the girls' turn. | 0:50:35 | 0:50:37
When they went back to the red cog, James didn't react quickly enough | 0:50:37 | 0:50:42
to prevent the first spare plunging into the chasm. | 0:50:42 | 0:50:46
So it all came down to the final red cog. | 0:50:46 | 0:50:49
Another miss and the girls would have won. | 0:50:49 | 0:50:52
But when it mattered, Zach's aim was bang on, straight into James' net. | 0:50:52 | 0:50:56
So with four catches to the girls' three, the boys were triumphant. | 0:50:56 | 0:51:01
That means they'll take the first Island Treasure - the Silver Eagle. | 0:51:01 | 0:51:07
The adventurers have survived their first day. | 0:51:12 | 0:51:15
As the sun sets, they sit beside one of the fortune-hunter's relics, | 0:51:15 | 0:51:19
but there is something that's still puzzling them. | 0:51:19 | 0:51:23
I'm not really sure about the fortune-hunter. | 0:51:23 | 0:51:27
I'm just a bit curious about where this person is | 0:51:27 | 0:51:30
and if it's the island pretending to be the fortune-hunter or something. | 0:51:30 | 0:51:35
I think the fortune-hunter's hiding, watching every move we make. | 0:51:35 | 0:51:40
I reckon he's tried what we've done before and failed | 0:51:40 | 0:51:43
and been trapped by Scorpion Island. | 0:51:43 | 0:51:46
I'm very pleased that I'm in the boys' team | 0:51:47 | 0:51:51
because as a boy, I'm supporting all boys around the world. | 0:51:51 | 0:51:55
So come on, boys! | 0:51:55 | 0:51:57
Today I was captain and it was really nice | 0:51:59 | 0:52:02
as all my team-mates voted for me. | 0:52:02 | 0:52:04
It wasn't just me who wanted me to be captain. Everyone else wanted that. | 0:52:04 | 0:52:09
Thank you, people. | 0:52:09 | 0:52:11
In the challenge, I think my team performed very well. | 0:52:12 | 0:52:16
I think we've won. I hope we've won. | 0:52:16 | 0:52:19
-Yes! -Yeah! | 0:52:19 | 0:52:22
The challenge didn't go as well as we would have liked it to | 0:52:22 | 0:52:26
because we dropped one of the cogs. | 0:52:26 | 0:52:30
Oh! | 0:52:31 | 0:52:33 | |
So we think the boys have won the challenge. We're annoyed about that. | 0:52:33 | 0:52:38
A full moon rises in the night sky. | 0:52:38 | 0:52:40
The adventurers are summoned to the Island Fire. | 0:52:40 | 0:52:44
This is the only place where the defensive Scorpion Island | 0:52:44 | 0:52:48
will communicate its devious plans directly with the boys and girls. | 0:52:48 | 0:52:52
Welcome, teams, to the Island Fire. | 0:52:54 | 0:52:57
This is where all will be revealed about your mission here | 0:52:57 | 0:53:01
and more importantly, about how the island communicates with you. | 0:53:01 | 0:53:05
Girls, how did you find your first day on the island? | 0:53:05 | 0:53:09
-Fun. -It was really exciting. | 0:53:09 | 0:53:11
-Is it what you expected? -No. -No. -Not at all. | 0:53:11 | 0:53:15
-Boys, did you enjoy yourselves? -Yeah, it was absolutely amazing. | 0:53:15 | 0:53:19
-What surprised you the most? -It was like nothing I've ever done before. | 0:53:19 | 0:53:24
-It was amazing. -The island is very devious. | 0:53:24 | 0:53:27
What do you think it's got in store for you? | 0:53:27 | 0:53:30
-I think the challenges will get a lot tougher. -And the boys? | 0:53:30 | 0:53:34
Peter, any ideas what the island's got in store? | 0:53:34 | 0:53:37
I think as we go along and we win... LAUGHTER | 0:53:37 | 0:53:41
-You're presuming that you win? -Yeah. -Girls, what do you make of that? | 0:53:41 | 0:53:46
-No way. -No. | 0:53:46 | 0:53:49
-I bet you're itching to find out who won today's Island Challenge? -Yeah. | 0:53:49 | 0:53:54
And indeed this beautiful Island Treasure - the Silver Eagle. | 0:53:54 | 0:53:58
Today, you played the Chasm of Chaos. | 0:54:02 | 0:54:05
Only one team can win. | 0:54:06 | 0:54:08
And only the island knows who the winners are. | 0:54:09 | 0:54:13
The winners of today's Island Challenge... | 0:54:19 | 0:54:24
..was the boys. | 0:54:26 | 0:54:28
ALL: Yes! | 0:54:28 | 0:54:30
Well done, boys. You beat the girls today. | 0:54:30 | 0:54:33
You managed to net four coloured cogs, one more than they did. | 0:54:33 | 0:54:37
But only one of you can win the treasured Silver Eagle | 0:54:37 | 0:54:41
which represents freedom from the island. | 0:54:41 | 0:54:45
Every night at the Island Fire, | 0:54:45 | 0:54:48
only one adventurer from the winning team can be awarded the treasure. | 0:54:48 | 0:54:52
The island is keeping the reason why a closely guarded secret. | 0:54:52 | 0:54:57
That's why we want to know | 0:54:57 | 0:54:59
who out of your team impressed you the most today. | 0:54:59 | 0:55:02
Who was your most valuable member? | 0:55:02 | 0:55:05
-It's got to be Zach. -Yeah. | 0:55:05 | 0:55:07
We were just standing there with our nets trying to catch them, | 0:55:07 | 0:55:11
but you were crawling across the top trying to throw it down. | 0:55:11 | 0:55:16
You went to higher heights than us. | 0:55:16 | 0:55:18
-Are you sure? Are you all sure? -Yeah. -Thanks. | 0:55:18 | 0:55:22
-Boys, have you reached a decision? -Yeah. | 0:55:22 | 0:55:25
-Who's it going to be? -Zach. -Zach. | 0:55:25 | 0:55:28
It's unanimous. In that case, not only the captain, also the winner. | 0:55:28 | 0:55:33
Please step forward, Zach. | 0:55:33 | 0:55:35
You are the island's Most Valuable Adventurer. | 0:55:35 | 0:55:38
Congratulations. | 0:55:38 | 0:55:40
Now then, not only do you get the eagle, | 0:55:54 | 0:55:57
but you also get the choice of camps. | 0:55:57 | 0:56:00
-Have you thought about which camp you'd like? -Definitely. | 0:56:00 | 0:56:03
-You don't even have to get together to discuss it? -No. -Which camp? | 0:56:03 | 0:56:08
-River Camp. -River Camp. Not the one that smells funny. | 0:56:08 | 0:56:12
You'll chuck the girls in the one that smells funny | 0:56:12 | 0:56:15
-and you guys will take the River Camp? -Yes. | 0:56:15 | 0:56:19
Commiserations, girls. You'll have to try a bit harder next time. | 0:56:19 | 0:56:23
But give a round of applause to the boys, their eagle and the new camp. | 0:56:23 | 0:56:28
-Well done, guys. -Well done. | 0:56:28 | 0:56:31
It's been a very busy first day for our island adventurers. | 0:56:31 | 0:56:35
They arrived as ten and became two teams of boys versus girls. | 0:56:35 | 0:56:40
Now the race is on to win as many Island Treasures as possible. | 0:56:40 | 0:56:44
-Will the girls be able to even the score? -It'll be a roller-coaster. | 0:56:44 | 0:56:48
And a very exciting one at that. | 0:56:48 | 0:56:50
Check all the action online. | 0:56:50 | 0:56:52
Don't forget to tune into Escape From Scorpion Island. | 0:56:52 | 0:56:55
-See you next time. -Bye. -Bye. | 0:56:55 | 0:56:57
'Next time, the boys and the girls taken on a fiendish puzzle.' | 0:56:57 | 0:57:02
-Not much talking. -Does it work? | 0:57:02 | 0:57:04
I didn't think they could do it that fast. | 0:57:04 | 0:57:07
'Receive a mysterious note.' | 0:57:07 | 0:57:10
"Girls, you must do better." He must still be alive then, watching us. | 0:57:10 | 0:57:15
'And the island is ready to do battle again. | 0:57:15 | 0:57:18
'But both teams will find it much harder than expected.' | 0:57:19 | 0:57:23
Lift up the cannon. It's not going to reach! | 0:57:23 | 0:57:26
CHEERING | 0:57:26 | 0:57:28
-'And there's meltdown.' -If we didn't win this challenge, | 0:57:32 | 0:57:36
I would feel like I let my team down. | 0:57:36 | 0:57:38
You can't just ignore it cos we think our way's better. | 0:57:38 | 0:57:41
No! | 0:57:41 | 0:57:43 |
