Last time on Scorpion Island,
a resurgent Team Claw were on a comeback mission...
Come on, Lizzie!
And Lizzie won the captain's head to head against Peter.
And in the deciding island challenge, Claw were way ahead
with James just needing one last piece to take the Island Treasure.
Who's going to put it in first?
But disaster struck.
And Team Sting snatched victory from the jaws of certain defeat,
winning the Vampire Bat and bringing their treasure total to six.
Today, Zach and Jordan must lead their teams into the Arena.
Sting Captain Jordan knows getting to the top is hard,
but staying there and keeping everyone happy will be even harder.
Khadie, you think you're the only one who can do the Memory Trial.
I'm not saying that.
Can Captain Zach push Claw that extra inch to achieve victory?
I'm going to kick out the negativity and make my team much more positive
and I'm going to make them all into winners.
It could only be Scorpion Island.
Welcome to Scorpion Island -
the island that makes it tough for anyone that visits.
-And I'm Johny. Two teams of adventurers are here,
on a mission to escape and won't let anything get in their way.
They need to be the best,
as only one team will escape on the final day.
Scorpion Island relishes in its splendid isolation
and uses its natural world as its impenetrable defence system.
The Island is teeming with life, its precious treasure.
In recent times, an adventurer came from far across the seas.
He was a Fortune Hunter,
whose mission it was to plunder the Island of its legendary treasure.
He took on the Island's challenges and succeeded
but when he failed in his final escape,
the furious Island mischievously captured the Fortune Hunter's spirit
and locked it away.
So what happened to the Fortune Hunter all those years ago?
And what role does he play in the race to escape?
All we know is he's mysteriously helping our adventurers
and the Island is trying to stop him and the teams.
Here's how they got on at the Island Fire last night.
So now it's time to find out who your team captains are
for tomorrow's Island Challenge.
It's Zach and Jordan.
Interesting match up.
How are you feeling about that, Zach, taking on Jordan?
Well, he's been a close ally, but what he doesn't know
is that I've been counting every move he makes.
Jordan, what's your response?
I can lead my team to victory for another day
-cos I did last time.
And I think we can do it tomorrow and beat Claw once again.
I think we should give our new team captains a round of applause.
It's hotting up.
Zach and Jordan, you will face each other
in the first round of the Island Challenge.
But now it's all about the second round.
Team captains, I want you to pick three team-mates
who are going to play tomorrow.
Decide amongst yourselves.
-First of all...
Jeremy. No matter what it is...
I've decided but I'm going to keep it a surprise, until...
Just tell us.
I'm just going to randomly pick. OK. Eeny-meeny...
Don't do eeny-meeny miny mo! Pick our skills.
I can hear "eeny-meeny miny mos" going on here.
Zach, you seem to have made your mind up.
I'm going to come to you first. Who have you picked?
I've picked to play for today, purely on what I've seen today
and how they performed, I pick James, Eleanor and Lizzie.
-I'm sorry, Dilhan, but I'm going to pick you for the Memory Trial.
OK, Team Sting, Jordan.
First of all, I'm going to pick Jeremy,
because she hasn't done any tasks so far that Sting has won.
Peter, because today he's been a really good captain
and I hope tomorrow he can perform how he did today.
And also Natty,
because this wasn't on any skill or anything,
because I don't know what the challenge is going to be tomorrow.
It's just I didn't pick Khadie,
because Khadie has done all of the Code Crackers
and so I think it's fair to give Natty the game.
Good choices, both of you.
Very tactical. I can't wait to see how they play out.
All we can say is best of luck in the Island Challenge.
May the best team win.
I think I'll be a great captain
and hopefully lead my team to victory again.
Last time Sting won and it's time for a new man in charge
and it's time for a win for Claw, the first win
and Jordan's now staring at me, nodding his head like that,
saying you're not going to win, but of course we are.
There is a chance that Claw could win
because we don't know what the challenge is
but I hope they don't.
Captains Jordan and Zach must now ready to face head-on
whatever the devious Island throws at them.
It's a tough test for anyone,
especially with the escape getting ever closer.
A new day on Scorpion Island is dawning
and the adventurers are never quite sure
what will face them on this most devious of islands.
In Claw camp, Zach has an unenviable task
of taking a team who have been so close to victory
on so many occasions and turning them into the winners.
Today it's about a bit of both. It's about friendship
and about winning because there's no point in winning
if you've lost all your friends
but you should, I still want my team to win.
I'll make this work for me because I'll kick out the negativity,
I'm going to make my team much more positive
and I'm going to make them all into winners.
How am I going to do that? I'm not sure yet. I just hope I can.
Zach realises that to turn Claw's fortunes around,
he's got to start from the inside and he asks Dilhan for help.
Dilhan, as captain I really want to kick out the negativity
and make the team much more positive and if you give some encouragement,
it will make the boys and the girls do better.
-Oh, yeah. OK.
-So if you give them encouragement,
-they'll feel better and it will give them an urge to do better.
The reason I'm choosing you to do this
is because you're naturally funny, mate.
You're really funny and you make everyone laugh.
-Just try and keep the team positive and make sure Claw has some hope.
Over in Sting camp three straight Island Challenge wins
have seen them amass an impressive array of Island Treasures.
Sting have a phenomenal record with the Code Cracker, too
and Khadie has delivered victory time and time again,
only facing defeat once.
So captain Jordan thinks she will be the perfect choice
for today's Code Cracker.
She's the one who can remember all the symbols
and in the end, she's the one who obviously can do it straight away,
in the quickest time, because she remembers the order of the symbols
and she just fits them together.
So I think she's a great person to have always on the Code Cracker.
However, one of his team-mates
has an idea for a different tactical approach.
I think it's time someone else had a go
and you never know, someone could be better.
I think it's time we let someone else have a go
like me, Jordan, Peter or Natty.
'I've only ever had two goes and that's when I'm captain'
and that's the only time when I actually ever have a go, so...
I think it's time I should have a go as well as other people.
In the morning, me and Jeremy where talking
and she was saying how yesterday in the Code Cracker,
because we didn't think of penguin or pelican
she thought it was kind of my fault
and so she didn't want me in the Code Cracker
and she said I shouldn't do any more of the Memory Challenges.
Obviously, Jeremy's upset Khadie and I don't think that's right
because we all did really well yesterday.
Captain Jordan's choice is simple, yet agonising.
Does he go for Khadie,
who despite one loss has proven a winning formula,
or does he give another team-mate a chance to play?
Two teams, two different moods.
One mission - to win the first challenge.
Now Sting and Claw must take on the island head-on,
facing its twists at every turn.
The Fortune Hunter once faced these challenges
and he left a system of clues in a symbol ring
to help them on their way.
But the furious Island has smashed the ring into pieces.
Who will piece it together quickest
and who will the captains choose to play it?
Jordan, as you're team captain,
you must pick a team-mate to play this.
I'm going to pick Khadie.
Jordan's made his decision and has put his faith
in Khadie's impressive Code Cracker track record.
We're going to come to the captain of Team Claw.
Zach, who will you pick to play this first round?
-I want to pick Dilhan.
Dilhan, how do you feel about that? An honour?
Yeah, I saw the symbol ring close together last time
and this time it's going to be together. Faster than these guys.
Remember, whichever team puts together this symbol ring
in the fastest time will go through to the next round.
Your time starts now.
With each day that passes,
the Island makes the puzzle more complicated to solve.
There are seven pieces of symbol ring here,
but only five make the ring complete.
-Wait a second. This one here!
-No, Zach! That goes on there.
The ones next to the ramp. Shout, shout.
The winning team gets to play for an advantage
from the Fortune Hunter.
Oh, no! A piece has fallen through the crack.
Dilhan, the one you've got in your hand...
-Is that it?
Let's do it properly, guys, come on. Finished.
Jordan's choice of Khadie seems justified
and Sting complete the puzzle first, once again.
-How did you find that, Jordan?
-I did think that we wouldn't do well,
because I've done three of these and I've only won one of them
-but it went pretty well today.
-Jordan, you had Khadie on your side.
Zach, talk me through it.
Well, first a crucial piece fell down there,
that probably wasted about ten seconds of it.
Dilhan, did you find that quite hard?
I think we just needed a bit more time.
Well, Sting have done it once more.
Round of applause for Sting and Khadie, I think.
It's time to play the Code Cracker challenge.
Sting may have mastered the Fortune Hunter's puzzle,
but now they must prove themselves in the next stage of the trial.
The symbol ring has been placed on a code wheel.
Each symbol relates to a letter of the alphabet.
Adventurers will be given just one letter that relates to one symbol.
Using the code wheel will help decipher
the remaining symbols and letters.
They will also be given a clue from the Fortune Hunter,
Jordan and Khadie will have only three minutes
to un-jumble the letters and create the nine-letter word
to win an advantage in the forthcoming Island Challenge.
Your three minutes...
This mountain equals E, turn it to E.
-Turn it here. Over here.
Jordan aligns the wheel to create the code,
but this is just the start.
The eye, the eye, the eye thing.
-The chocolate bar, J is it?
The new pairing is working well.
-There it is, there it is.
-The black circle. Here.
But wait a minute, the wheel has slipped
and it's thrown them into confusion
but Khadie can sense something is not quite right.
-Is that M?
But they're back on track now.
The horn, the toothed horn.
-This one. This one.
-Lightning in the cloud!
"Clue, sea creature."
Jordan things he's got it but Khadie wants to make double sure
after losing the last Code Cracker.
Will the letters all fit?
That's it, guys. You've got it! Well done.
They finished with time to burn.
The Fortune Hunter's code word of JELLYFISH was deciphered.
Team Sting, that was pretty impressive record time.
-You must be happy about that.
-Yeah, very happy.
The Fortune Hunter's advantage goes to Team Sting.
Follow me guys, to his filing cabinet.
Sting cracked the code and will now gain access
to another of the Fortune Hunter's treasured relics,
the mystical filing cabinet.
It only materialises after the Code Cracker has been played.
Within it is a precious Island Challenge advantage.
"Congratulations, you have won my filing cabinet advantage.
"In today's Island Challenge,
"you will go head to head with the other team captain
"but you will start the challenge with one extra fuse."
One extra fuse. What do you make of that, Zach?
I think he needs it.
My hands are highly trained when it comes to electronics.
Strong words there from Zach. Jordan?
I'm just really happy that it's an extra item to our advantage.
It's all to play for. A bit of rivalry going on.
Back at Sting camp there SHOULD be celebrations.
Sting have laid the foundations for another successful Island Challenge.
However, disagreements about who played the Code Cracker
are at tipping point.
I know Khadie's done well in the challenges
and I can't take that away from her.
She's really good at the puzzle ring and everything,
but I think now that we're ahead by four treasures
and they can't catch up with us,
I think it's time to let other people have a go.
We are here to escape from Scorpion Island.
I know that, cos I'm on your team.
If we know that something's going to win us this
then we pick this thing that's going to win us.
You get to choose your team-mate, who will it be?
I'm going to pick Khadie.
I think I'm going to choose Khadie again.
-I'm going to pick Khadie again.
-I'm going to pick Khadie.
I'm going to pick Khadie.
I thought I would work best with Khadie.
So I picked Khadie. That means all of the others picked Khadie
because they thought that they'd just work well as a team.
-I know, I'm not doubting that.
-I didn't ask them to pick me.
It's like having an apple, an orange and a lemon.
If you're going to decide which one makes you sour and sweet
you're going to choose the apple
but you're not going to think,
"But the orange is all right as well and the lemon.
"It only hurts a little."
You know what I mean?
It's all completely different but it's the same thing.
You think you're the only person who can do the memory challenge.
-I'm not saying that.
So what I'm saying is maybe we might win with a different person.
I know what he just said, Khadie.
I said the captain can choose who he wants
but I'm just putting my opinion forward and I'm saying that
sometime we might work best with different people.
Every time we think it's going to be a crucial challenge,
which is all the time,
we just think, "Well, we shouldn't take any risks
"and we should use Khadie because she knows how to do it."
Jeremy, I understand where you're coming from,
but do you understand where I'm coming from?
No. I'm going to be truthful, I don't.
They agree to disagree for now.
In round one, the Island makes the team's captains go head to head
to try to win the advantage for their team-mates
when they compete for the latest Island Treasure in round two.
So now, Sting's captain Jordan
will be battling Claw's captain Zach. This is the first time
they've represented Sting and Claw alone,
but we have seen them give it their all on the Team Challenges,
including Double Crossing
where Zach knocked Jordan straight in the water.
Will Jordan get his own back here or will Zach come out on top?
It's going to be a hard-fought Challenge
but, of course, only one of them can win the advantage for their team
when they play for the Coral Sponge.
And this is what they're facing...
This is Hard Wired.
In a forest glade is a giant, rusty board
and the captains are both going to take ten-minute turns
at collecting the huge, fragile fuses set within it.
They will be suspended on a line and have to drag themselves down ropes
to be able to grab the fuses
before delivering them into a collection trunk.
If any fuses are dropped, they're out of play.
Plus if a captain lets go of the ropes, he'll get sprung back up.
As Sting won the Code Cracker, Jordan starts with one fuse already
in his trunk, but whoever finishes with the most complete fuses wins.
Welcome to the Island Challenge, Hard Wired.
So you've got the advantage,
you have extra fuse placed there for you.
Will that help you a lot?
I think it will help me,
because I am short and it'll make me have to pull myself more.
And I'll have to reach further for the fuse.
-Less weight to carry, though, looking on the positive side.
-Zach, tell me what you think.
-I think I need to hope for the best
-and try for the best and hopefully win.
-Well, good luck to both of you.
Whoever wins this round wins the advantage
for their team in the next round. Here's what they're playing for.
The Island's ninth treasure is the Coral Sponge,
and represents the need for the adventurers to absorb Knowledge,
which will ultimately lead to Power.
Sting hold six Island Treasures
and Claw have two, but can Claw take advantage
of Zach's positive leadership, or will Jordan lead Sting to victory?
Sting are up first and they are
putting their argument about the Code Cracker to one side
so they can give their captain all their support.
-Sting Captain Jordan, are you ready?
It's time to play Hard Wired. Three, two, one - go!
And he's off, stretching for the rope... Oh, and he's got it!
Now he's got to drag himself down.
He's going for the first fuse, but don't forget
he has already got one in his trunk already.
Jordan, pick it up!
He HAS picked it up.
So he's got to get it into the trunk.
Use your feet if you can't reach it.
And don't forget, this will take a lot of physical exertion
-so as the game progresses, he'll get more exhausted.
-Don't drop it!
Good advice from Khadie
but it won't be easy to hold on to it while he hauls himself down
to get as close to the trunk as possible before going for the shot.
Come on, Jordan.
Jordan got off to a terrific start here, putting in enormous effort
to drag himself down the ropes not once but twice
to grab a fuse and then to get in position for the throw.
But the downside of coming down the ropes again
is you've got to shoot upside down.
It's so hard to aim like this,
and it meant he missed this time and his struggles were for nothing.
He can't afford to get disheartened, though.
He's got to keep powering on.
That's it, he was quick that time, he's got the second fuse.
-Now, can he make it count?
Faster! Pull, pull, pull!
OK, aim it carefully this time.
He's lining up the shot.
And yes, it's in!
Jordan's bang on target here, taking Sting up to two fuses.
It's good stuff but he did spend an enormously long time aiming,
so if he wants to achieve a score
Zach will find tough to beat, he'll really need to speed up.
Well, he's down the rope extremely swiftly this time.
-This is such hard work.
-Well done, Jordan.
The third fuse for Jordan. He's tearing along in this challenge.
Come on, Jordan. Use your feet. Now pull yourself down.
Good support from the rest of Sting.
Jordan, come on, I know you can do this. Do this for your team.
Jordan, you don't have much time left - come on!
He's already starting to seem exhausted.
Come on, Jordan, come on!
You know you can do it!
Good shot! That's number three in the trunk.
And he got this one in extremely quickly but he has used up
almost half his time now.
And as the clock ticks on,
it's only going to get more and more physically demanding.
This is where we will find out what Jordan is really made of.
Well done, Jordan.
Quickly - let's get this!
Right at the edge of the board
this is one of the hardest ones to reach.
-Well done, Jordan.
-He's grabbed it.
-About time now.
-Get down there.
-There it is and he's sprung back up into the air.
And if we get in it will be quite a good number.
But he's going to haul himself down towards the trunk before he shoots
and the strain is really beginning to show.
Can he keep composed and get it in?
Faster, Jordan, aim it carefully.
Jordan is revealing real mettle here
and he has taken Sting to a fuse count of four.
He must be completely shattered but he's got to keep driving himself on,
and with such limited time, he's got to keep the pace up, too.
-Hurry up, Jordan, come on.
-Come on, quicker!
Well, he was really speedy here.
And he has got another fuse - will it land in the trunk?
Well, it won't unless he can get back in range for a throw
and it seems he is having difficulty grabbing onto the ropes.
This could be bad news for Sting.
Pull yourself down.
Yes, he's there.
Well done, Jordan, use the rope, climb down.
Don't drop the fuse, Jordan. Jordan, quickly!
-Well, he is not trying to be... Oh, yes, he's got it!
-This is great!
Imagine how hard it is to aim when you're hanging upside down,
so this is another hugely impressive shot from Jordan.
It puts Sting on five fuses, but there's less than two minutes left.
Can he make the most of this desperately limited time?
Oh, this is clever work.
He's has left the nearest fuse to this late stage of the game.
Oh, no... Oh, yes!
Jordan reached this one really quickly,
then it nearly got the better of him when he went for the shot.
His aim was off but a lucky bounce off the edge of the trunk
set the fuse on course.
It takes Sting's score to six, but time is really running out now.
-Jordan, you have one minute left.
Come on, Jordan!
60 seconds to see if he can get another fuse in the trunk.
Oh, no, just when he was going for another grab!
But he's back on. The exhaustion is taking its toll
but his team needs him to give his absolute all here.
This is total determination from Jordan
He is putting all of his energy into trying to reach one more fuse
before the time runs out.
-Five, four, three,
two, one - game over.
In the dying seconds of the game, Jordan somehow managed
to summon the strength to get one last fuse into the trunk.
Meaning Sting's final score is seven.
Impressive stuff - and it looked unbelievably draining, too.
But how did it feel?
It was really, really tiring
and your arms feel like they want to fall off.
I didn't keep count of how many I got in, but I think it was a lot.
But I am pleased with myself.
You're right to be pleased with yourself, Jordan.
Seven will a really tricky score for Zach to beat.
-He's in position for his turn now.
-Claw captain Zach, are you ready?
-"Definitely," he says, let's see.
Three, two, one - go!
And he's off, tipping himself upside down straight away.
Well, he made it down very quickly. Oh, just out of reach!
Right, Zach, stay at the bottom once you've got it.
Well, he's got it but he's going straight back up with it.
And he's already out of breath.
Thank goodness he got that fuse in. Where I am standing,
it looked like he was about to miss.
Well, Myleene, Zach did go for a really long-distance throw,
unlike Jordan who always dragged himself down to the trunk.
Zach's was an enormously risky strategy
but it paid off, so Claw are off the mark.
Get the rope!
Oh, no, Zach's got tangled up!
Sting thinks it's hilarious but it's really worrying Claw.
What is he doing?
-What are you doing?!
-Just hurry up and keep trying.
-Get a move on!
You can really hear the desperation in Claw's voices...
I'm trying my best!
..but it's easy to underestimate just how tough this is.
You've lost loads of time!
Tough love from team Claw but it seems to be driving him on.
And he's grabbed the fuse!
So he is going for the shot - yes! Oh!
Go, go, go!
Straight in the trunk with a clunk.
Yes, Myleene but when the fuse clunked, it snapped in two
and half of it fell outside the trunk. And as incomplete fuses
do not count, that means all of Zach's efforts have been wasted,
along with some valuable time, and Claw are still only on one.
So Zach is really picking up his pace now.
Team Claw really need Zach to win this. I can't tell you how badly.
-Well, I can actually - badly!
-But he is doing so well here.
He is back up and already in position for another fuse lob.
-Here he goes...and yes!
-Great aim from Zach.
Yes, it was. This time he gets the fuse straight into the trunk,
taking Claw to two.
He is starting to look so steely now but this challenge
is a real endurance test
and it's only going to get tougher and tougher.
You can really see just how hard Zach is working.
Oh, and he has got another fuse.
Come on, Zach!
Will he get the fuse in the trunk?
-Yes, he will.
Great support from the rest of the team here
as Zach achieves a neat slam dunk off the lid of the trunk
to take Claw's fuse count to three.
It's brilliant stuff but has he got the stamina to keep it up?
For now he seems like he might! This is such a rapid climb down
and he is really having to stretch now to reach it.
Oh, and he has grabbed it! Here goes the throw.
-And it's in the trunk.
Just like the earlier one, this fuse snaps in two
on the edge of the trunk, but this time the bouncing around
goes Zach's way and both halves end up tumbling in, taking Claw to four.
These long throws are so risky but are also so much quicker
than climbing back down like Jordan did.
TEAM SHOUT ENCOURAGEMENT
And Zach is keeping on moving amazingly fast.
He has got to be feeling utterly shattered by now.
And yes, he has grabbed another fuse
and he's sprung back up and he's going for it right away.
-In the trunk.
And it means just halfway through his time
Zach has got Claw's fifth Fuse in.
Over three minutes quicker than Jordan got Sting to five.
Extraordinary, but can he maintain these energy levels?
Well, he surely can't go any faster than this.
Another really swift descent.
-Yes, he has grabbed another fuse.
-Now can he get it in the trunk?
He's going for it.
Yeah, dead on target.
Another great shot from Zach takes Claw to six fuses
but remember Jordan took Sting to seven,
so Zach can't afford to slacken off.
This is great work.
You are right, Eleanor, it is great work
and he has hauled himself down once again.
Zach must be exhausted now but he is so determined
and showing no signs of slowing down.
Oh, no, no!
He nearly dropped the fuse but he's OK.
He's going for the shot.
It seems Zach's sheer tiredness is starting to show.
He fumbles the fuse and just manages to catch it
but doesn't quite get himself together before trying for the throw
and his aim is off
so Claw are still on six and time is getting really tight.
Can he make this climb down really count?
One minute left.
Zach has 60 seconds to get another fuse into the trunk.
Well, he's got another one and it would be a complete disaster
if he dropped it.
He could not look more exhausted but the seconds are ticking away.
If he's going to have any chance of beating Jordan's score,
he has to get this one in the trunk ASAP.
Yes, he did it!
And that means Zach has levelled the scores.
There are seven fuses in Claw's trunk,
the same as in Sting's at the end of Jordan's go.
But Zach has got a few seconds left - can he score again?
-Try and swing again, Zach!
He is really struggling
and surely he hasn't got enough time to get an eighth fuse in.
Three, two, one... Time's up, game over.
And so, like Sting's, Claw's final score is seven - it's a draw.
What will the Island do about that?
If I have won, it's a big victory for Claw
and hopefully it will put us into a winning stride.
This was one of the most demanding challenges the Island has yet seen
and it drew enormously impressive performances from both captains.
There was one clear tactical difference between them.
Jordan dragged himself down to the trunk before going for throws
whilst Zach opted for long-distance shots -
a faster but riskier strategy.
The net result - both of them ended their turn
with seven fuses in their trunk.
So the Island decided it all came down to the clock.
Jordan's last fuse went in at nine minutes and 53 seconds,
while Zach got his last one in at nine minutes and 30 seconds.
That means by a really narrow margin, he was the winner
and it's Claw that has the advantage
when the teams compete in round two for the Coral Sponge -
the latest all-important Island Treasure.
I can now reveal who the winner of the first round of Hard Wired is.
One team collected seven fuses.
The other team collected...
seven fuses as well.
However, one team collected the seventh fuse...
..in a much quicker time.
The team captain that has won the first round of Hard Wired is...
Zach and team Claw.
Still to come, Zach's positive outlook is infectious on Team Claw
and the comeback is well and truly on.
All roads lead to the second electric round of Hard Wired.
Can Claw take the Island Treasure or will it be Sting again?
It's all coming up.
Having just won the first Island Challenge,
Team Claw are absolutely buzzing and captain Zach's positive outlook
leads to another team-bonding idea.
-Stop! You know how it's a nice day except for the rain?
I thought, let's go swimming.
ALL: Woo, yeah!
Three, two, one, go!
It's well cold!
It's really good to hang out together and have a swim.
It's the first time I've swum since I've been here and it's fun.
And really, really cold!
Shall I turn the bubbles on?
Turning the bubbles on?!
Maybe this is what Zach meant by Dilhan's sense of humour.
Whatever it was, the trick seems to be working
and a happy team is a happy Island-Challenging team -
and Zach knows it.
In round two, the Island is setting Sting and Claw against each other
to try to win the latest Island Treasure.
As it stands, Sting have six treasures while Claw have just two.
The more treasures you have, the greater the advantage
in the Final Race To Escape,
so both teams will be throwing everything into trying
to get hold of the Coral Sponge in the second round of Hard Wired.
In a forest glade is a giant rusty circuit board,
and the teams take turns to try to place ten fuses into it
to complete the circuit
and get the light flashing as quickly as possible.
One member of each team will be on a swing over the board,
using jungle tongs to pick fuses up from the pile and put them in place,
and they'll rely on two of their team-mates
to haul the ropes and drag them back and forth.
Holding the fuses with the jungle tongs is incredibly fiddly,
especially as you're on a swing.
If a fuse is dropped, it's out of play and the teams can't afford
to keep wasting them, because they've only got three spares.
The team which places ten fuses
and gets their light flashing quicker, wins.
As Zach won round one, Claw have the advantage here.
30 seconds will be taken off their final time.
Will it be enough to ensure them triumph and the Island Treasure,
or will Sting speed to victory and snatch the Coral Sponge?
OK, now, so because Zach won the advantage, you're going to get
30 seconds of extra time at the end of your game.
-Who wants it more?
-So, Team Sting, who wants it more?
It's time for the second round of Hard Wired.
So Sting are up first. Natty and Jeremy are on the ropes
while Peter is on the swing.
-Team Sting, are you ready?
-Three, two, one, go!
-And they're off.
Oh, no! Peter is spinning around already.
Natty! Pull him!
Oh, and it's in. A great start. He seems to have got to grips
with the awkward tongs straight away.
That was such a deft move.
-Oh, he's grabbed another on the turn and it's in.
It's tough work for Natty and Jeremy
heaving the ropes to position Peter.
A lot of coordination is needed for this Challenge.
These tongs are tricky to use but Peter's making it look easy.
-Three is really good.
Yes, Jordan, it is really good, but Peter has only filled the holes
nearest the stack of fuses so far, and of course the further away ones
are going to be harder for Natty and Jeremy.
-Don't worry, Peter. There is a second chance.
Well, there won't ALWAYS be a second chance.
Having let this fuse frustratingly slip out of his tongs,
Peter's left Sting with only two spares.
So he needs to be extra careful from now on,
but he can't afford to slow down, either.
This is such pressure - can he rise above it?
Come on, Peter, you can do it!
No, you're pulling him here. The other way.
I need to pull.
Natty, Jeremy, work together!
Good advice from Khadie. This is a real test of team work.
Oh, and Peter's grabbed another fuse,
but he's spinning around again.
Hold on to it until you're there.
Can he keep a grip this time? Yes!
This must be so disorientating for Peter.
The swing is whirling him around but he's got great wrist strength
as he keeps his hold on the fuse and some terrific timing
as he drops it in at just the right moment
to take Sting's fuse count up to four. Great stuff!
They're only just over a minute-and-a-half in
and if Peter can avoid dropping this one, it will get Sting
to half-way through their circuit board...
and yes, he's got it.
Natty and Jeremy, work together!
Khadie is really driving Natty and Jeremy on
and they have got Peter back - oh, he has got it in!
The girls are working really hard now.
This is a real communal effort from Sting and it is not easy work.
Peter is doing brilliantly.
Peter is doing Sting proud here.
That was the seventh fuse he just placed.
Oh, yes, he's got the eighth in now! This is so impressive!
Take me down! Come on, work together!
Oh, no, Peter's in a spin again...
but he's got it!
Hold on to it, Peter. Remember - slowly.
It would be awful if he dropped this one.
Come on, Peter!
And that's another one in for Peter.
But the longer the game goes on,
the more of a test it is of Natty and Jeremy's stamina.
They're using all of their strength to heave Peter back and forth,
and they really can't ease off.
Now, there is only one hole left in Sting's circuit board.
Can they complete it in a time which is difficult to beat?
Peter has grabbed for another fuse.
Oh, no! He's spinning around again.
They need to haul him over really quickly, in case he loses grip.
This could be a really good time.
Almost there - he's about to complete the circuit.
They're working so hard to get him there...
That's game over!
You could really see just how much effort this was taking
from Natty, Jeremy and Peter. It looked exhausting
but it was really effective too, letting Peter place the last fuse
and complete their circuit in an amazing three minutes 11 seconds.
The question is, can Claw beat that?
I think Peter did a really good job today.
I think we have quite a good chance of winning.
Claw are up next and remember, as Zach won round one, they've got
the advantage - 30 seconds will be taken off their final time.
-Team Claw, are you ready?
Three, two, one - go!
And they're off.
You can do it, yes, go, go, go, go, go.
Eleanor has got the first fuse and is heading towards the first hole.
And it's in - that was a really quick start.
Can they keep this pace up?
Right, good. Stop!
-Good vocal leadership from Eleanor.
-But this is not an easy ride.
Grabbing the fuses with the jungle tongs
is tricky stuff and this rain is only going to make it harder.
Go, go, go!
So she's finally got it and that was fast.
She's got two already.
You're doing really well!
Dilhan's right - they are doing really well.
This is excellent. Oh, no! Eleanor's knocked one down.
Oh, no, she's OK, she has got it.
Oh, no, they've taken her too far but they've got her back.
Yes, it's in.
That's the third fuse into the hole.
Sting started by fill the nearest holes.
Claw have been going for the ones furthest away.
It's an interestingly different approach
and it means they'll be doing the hardest work
while they are at their freshest, but will it pay off?
-Good job, come on!
Guys, a bit more communication. I can hear the crickets, come on.
Tough talk from Zach but they're zipping her across with this fuse.
And she's got it into the whole.
Good. Right, I need to...
Cunning control here,
Eleanor is using the tongs to spin herself round.
Oh, no, was she just too far from the pile?
-It's not! Come on!
It's starting to sound tense in Claw and this isn't going to help.
Come on, faster, hurry up.
You can do it!
Guys, get back, get back. Come on.
Come on! Come on!
Eleanor's sounding frustrated now. It's easy to see why.
She dropped this one so far along the circuit board
it's been a real waste of time
and worse than that it means she has dropped three of Claws' fuses.
-So they haven't got any spares left.
Get back. We don't have any more spares.
This could be bad news for Claw and Lizzie
and James are struggling to get Eleanor back to the fuses.
Oh, and she is just out of reach.
They really have to perfect the technique of pulling the rope
could they be pulling against each other?
-Come on, you can do it. Come on, Eleanor.
-I've got it.
Just don't drop it.
Oh, oh, oh, and it's in.
That's five. In under three minutes,
they're half way through their circuit board.
They need to speed up if they want to beat Sting's time.
Well, she's grabbed another and this is a much swifter crossing.
That's their sixth one in
but they can't afford to make any mistakes.
I can't reach it.
Stop. Perfect. Well done, guys. Go on, guys, brilliant, go, go, go.
Come on, guys, you can do it!
Perhaps they can. That's their seventh one.
We have to do this.
Well, yes, they will have to do this but remember even one more dropped
fuse will make Sting win so they must be careful as well as fast.
It's in. Back!
It's going really well but they have got to keep focused.
Come on, come on. I can't hold it.
It's in. One more left!
One more fuse left to place and then its game over.
She's grabbed it and there could not be more pressure on her here.
Dropping it would be a disaster.
Guys, I can't hold it!
She's screaming that she can't hold it, will she drop it?
Oh, no, no, it's in the hole.
That' s game over. My nerves are shot to pieces.
Well, that was a frantic end to a full-on turn from Claw.
They gave it everything but have they done enough
to beat Sting and what do they feel
about how they approached this challenge?
I think we got a good tactic starting at the end
because that's when we are not tired.
I will be so devastated if we lose again
because I mean we tried our all and if we lose again...
we're so far behind.
I'm nervous as I think it'll be really close
and I can't wait to find out at the Island Fire.
Well, Eleanor, it did seem close
but while you'll have to wait till the Island Fire to find out,
we can take a look at what happened right now.
Both teams threw themselves into Hard Wired with enormous gusto.
Jeremy and Natty and Lizzie and James
all put amazing levels of effort into the pulleying,
as Peter and Eleanor displayed some great skills up on the swings, too.
Peter did keep getting in a spin but coped well with it
and only dropped one fuse.
Eleanor cleverly used her tongs to help keep her in a steadier position
but didn't seem to have a stronger grip
and used up all three of Claw's spare fuses.
So as both teams managed to complete their circuit
before they ran out of fuses, the question is - who did it quicker?
Because captain Zach won round one, Claw had the advantage here
and 30 seconds will come off their final time.
So as Eleanor placed their last fuse at four minutes and 20 seconds,
this makes their official time three minutes and 50 seconds.
However, Peter placed Sting's final fuse
at three minutes and 11 seconds,
an extraordinary 39 seconds quicker than Claw's advantage-reduced time.
And so Sting are the winners, and they will be taking
the latest all-important Island Treasure, the Coral Sponge.
But, of course, at this point,
both teams are still in the dark about the results.
Come on, guys!
Claw don't yet know if they've won the Island Challenge or not,
but Zach's optimistic outlook is rubbing off,
and they're taking the positives out of their day.
I think we've done well.
I think we've tried our best. And I think we've won,
because I think we did it...
We did it a little bit quicker than them.
If we win today, we'll have a massive confidence boost,
because, like, everyone else will be like, "We can actually do this,
"we can try and win more than what we've been doing so far."
Everyone's been getting a bit down,
as we don't think we're really going to win.
But if we win today,
I think it's going to shoot everyone in Team Claw - fwoom! -
straight back up again.
If this is the first time we have won, I think it'll make us feel
really, really happy and pep us up and hope that more Challenges can...
We can win more Challenges.
And Claw's Eleanor has noticed that winning carries its own burden.
Even if you've got loads and loads of Island Treasures,
like Sting have got - they've got six and we've only got two -
it kind of shows that they aren't very happy, because they want more.
It's almost as if they're not happy with six, they're not satisfied.
I'd actually rather be on Claw right now and not Sting,
because I came to Scorpion Island to have the best time I can
and to try and push myself and do what I can and make new friends.
I didn't come to Scorpion Island to win.
I know that's the aim of the game but that wasn't the main priority.
So I think that if there's three things that Team Claw need to do -
make friends, have fun, and, um...
No, stick together, have fun and win,
winning is second or third on my list.
Sting have performed well in the Island Challenge
and even they realise the value of sticking together...
despite their earlier disagreement.
It was a completely silly argument, we don't really need this
right now because we have got to bring that Claw down, yeah?
They've won every single time.
We just need to break the tradition.
We'll be so high that Claw can't even Claw us.
But I think that we need to just focus on what is coming tomorrow
and leave it all behind us and think of it again tomorrow
and then who knows what we are doing and then it will suddenly fall
and take our mind off of what we are doing
-and it will just slow us down altogether.
So I just think we will need to get together.
Khadie, Jordan, Jeremy, One, two, three, Sting!
It's been a momentous day on the Island
but it's not over yet, as the adventurers are about to find out
who has won today's Challenge at the Island Fire.
Welcome, Sting and Claw, to the Island Fire.
Team Sting, you placed Hard Wired today, how was it?
Why was it so hard, Jordan?
When you are upside down, all the blood rushes to your head
and it makes you feel really sick
as you feel all your guts are coming out your mouth.
Does it, Jordan? Cos when I was up there, I felt like Spider-Man.
It was wicked and I had fun.
These guys tried their best and hopefully we've won.
The team that took on the Island Challenge, Hard Wired,
and won is...
Well done, Team Sting, as you know, only one of you can win
the Island Treasure
so I want you to choose your most valuable team player.
Every night at the Island Fire,
only one adventurer from the winning team can be awarded the Treasure,
but what is the true significance of these Treasures
and will they impact on the Final Escape?
Only the Island knows.
-I think if we had a choice, we'd pick both of you but...
-Are you sure?
OK, guys, team talk over,
who are you choosing as your most valued adventurer?
Jordan. Well done. Tell me, why have you chosen Jordan?
Even though he felt dizzy, he wanted the team to continue their streak.
I wanted Peter to have it
because Peter was the one who won it at the end as he put the fuses in.
It's a team effort and the team have voted for you, Jordan.
Congratulations, you are the most valued adventurer.
You win the Coral Sponge.
Jordan, this Sponge represents
your absorption of Knowledge on the Island.
So, well done for winning it, congratulations, it's yours to own.
A round of applause for Team Sting and Jordan.
Team Sting have won their seventh Island Treasure.
Team Claw still only have two
but there are more precious Treasures to win yet.
So we are soon to find out who our two new captains are
and we are soon to find out which adventurers they're going
to choose for the next Island Challenge.
And that Escape Day is looming ever closer.
Don't forget you can catch all the action online.
-We'll see you next time on Escape From Scorpion Island. Goodbye.
Next time, the Island has decided to shake things up.
The Island is giving us no break today.
It's pure Challenges.
And it will force the adventurers to go head to head
in a multitude of gruelling trials.
But in the arduous test, some will face their fears.
It would seriously be a disappointment
if I were the one to lose for the team.
Whilst others feel the burn.
Keep them up, Khadie. You're pushing your luck.
