Rachel Yankey, top international footballer,
and all-round sporting superstar.
But when Rachel's not scoring goals for her team,
she's playing with the Footy Pups.
Hi everyone! We're all warmed up, so it's time to get moving.
Today on my team, we have...
Number 1, Bailey.
Well done, Bailey.
Number 2, George.
Number 3, Belle.
Woo! I love that one, Belle!
Number 4, Max.
Check out Max with his skills!
Number 5, Jessica.
Great dribbling, Jessica!
Number 6, Rowan.
Also joining us are Footy Pups Rex and Benny.
So that's today's team.
-OK guys, gather round.
-It's team talk time!
Did you know that your heart is a muscle in your body
a bit like the muscles in your arms and your legs?
How would we normally strengthen the muscles in our arms and legs?
-By training them.
-By warming them up.
We need to do the same with our heart to keep it healthy.
Looking after your heart is really important,
because that can help with our stamina.
Stamina means we can play for longer, which is
really important because a match of football is 90 minutes long.
There are three main things to remember to help with our stamina.
We need to move about,
and keep going.
ALL: Move about, work hard, and keep going.
Well done, guys. Let's go and have a practice.
To build your stamina, I want you to run back and forth
to the cones. Each cone gets further away.
You're going to need to pace yourself so you don't get tired.
First team need to put a ball at each cone,
and the second team need to collect them. Off you go!
-A speedy start from the team.
-Well done, grab another ball.
-Great stamina, Bailey.
-Working their way down the pitch?
-Well done, keep it going.
Paced himself well. They're nearly at the end!
And go and collect them up! That's it, Belle, work hard.
Go, Reds! Go, Reds! Go, Reds!
No signs of tiredness here.
-One more to get, guys!
-Great stamina from all of the team.
Well done! While these guys practise, here's a reminder for you.
To improve your stamina and have a healthy heart,
and keep going.
This game shows how stamina helps you keep going as a team.
You need to run around this circle,
holding a hoop at your waist.
The Footy Pups are going to show us how.
The first person runs on their own.
After one lap they collect the second team mate,
run around again, and then collect the third.
Once everyone makes it back, the first team-mate stops,
while the others keep running.
The game is over after the third team-mate has completed
a lap on their own.
Thanks, guys. Remember we're going to need stamina,
and to pace ourselves.
WHISTLE BLOWS A flying start from both teams,
but they need to use their stamina to complete the game.
-Just a quick stop here.
-Go, go, go, go!
Go red, go red.
Fantastic support from Belle.
Go, blue! Go, blue!
Teams are neck-and-neck. How exciting!
We're training and working our heart muscles.
That's right. Just like all of the muscles in our bodies.
Work as a team. Don't fall over.
No signs of tiredness here yet.
-Drop off your first team-mate.
-Oh, but be careful of Bailey's cap!
-Pace yourself! Don't get tired.
You've got great stamina, Benny!
It's a good skill to have.
-Do you remember the time we played Baah-rnsley United?
Welcome to Pupton Park.
The Footy Pups are preparing for a tricky match.
We've got a difficult match today. We're playing Baah-rnsley United.
They're impossible to beat!
No team are impossible to beat, Rozzie.
But Baah-rnsley are particularly tough,
because they've got such great stamina.
Stamina? What's that?
Stamina gives you the ability to keep going longer than
We always have problems at the end of the match in the second half.
That's because we're so tired from the first half we can't play
-We just need to have as much stamina as Baah-rnsley do.
And where do we get stamina from?
From the gym, Rex.
By exercising your body the right way,
you can make sure you have enough stamina to finish.
Then what are we waiting for? To the gym!
-Are you all right, Pete?
I need total focus if I want to
break the World Sweeping Record
-Come on, Pups!
-Good luck, Pete!
Oh ho, ho, ho!
Like all muscles, your heart and lungs need exercise.
The fitter they are, the more stamina you'll have.
I've set up some exercises to help you!
That's it, Pups!
You're getting better!
Come on, Pickles! You can do it!
Ho, ho! That's it, laddie!
-What's wrong, Pete?
-Oh, I'm exhausted already.
I'll never beat the world record this afternoon.
You just need more stamina, Pete.
By exercising, you'll be able to keep going for longer.
Exercises for stamina? Good idea!
Huff! Huff! Huff! Huff!
After that training, I feel like I could go on forever.
That's the spirit!
Hello, Footy Pups! It's good to be baah-ck!
Think you can bleat... I mean beat us this time?
-We've been working on our stamina.
-We're fighting fit and ready to go.
Oh, the Pups are off to a flying start.
1-0 to the Footy Pups.
Could this be the year
they beat Baah-rnsley?
There's the half-time whistle.
Will the Pups' stamina hold out in the second half?
Well done, Pups!
You're doing a great job,
but remember we need to keep up our stamina.
Don't worry. Nothing can stop us now!
To you, Rex!
You lot are baa-army!
-There's no stopping the Footy Pups.
That's 2-1 to the Pups,
but Benny's kicked the ball out of Pupton Park!
If we haven't got a ball, we'll have to reschedule the match.
But this is the first time we've even come close
to beating Baah-rnsley!
Come on, Pups! Let's catch that ball. Ruff!
Well done, Pups.
I hope you've got enough energy to finish the match.
Time to see if all that stamina training paid off.
-Just a little bit longer, Pups!
-Back to you, Rex.
THE PUPS: Bow-wow!
The Footy Pups have won against Baah-rnsely,
for the first time ever!
Good game, Footy Pups. Baah!
-Stamina is what you need
to finish your game at full speed!
Go, go, go... Footy Pups!
You there! I'm here to judge the World Sweeping Record attempt.
Are you ready?
Woo-hoo! Thanks to the Pups' stamina training, I'm raring to go.
Now, you'll have to sweep all these leaves
back into that basket
as quickly as you can.
I hope this doesn't take too long. I'm really pooped!
Ready, steady, go!
Well, I never! We have a new world record!
ALL: Woohoo! Yay!
Now that's over, maybe things can get back to normal round here.
-Pete, I need you to mow the pitch.
-No can do, Freddie.
I need to get practising with my line painter.
I'm trying for the Line Painting World Record tomorrow.
It's really important to have a healthy heart and good stamina.
-Isn't it, Benny?
BOTH: Hi, Rachel!
Uh, Rachel, have you been building up your stamina?
Hmm. I think we should go for a jog around the field.
-What, the whole field?
-Yes! Come on, let's go!
Come on, Rachel! Keep going!
You're doing really well!
Well done, Rachel.
I need to stop eating cake and get back into training.
Do you guys remember how to build up your stamina?
Move about, work hard, and keep going.
-OK guys, who fancies a game?
So I've split you up into two teams. We've got the Greens.
-Greens, give me a cheer.
-And we've got the Oranges. Let me hear you!
Fantastic. Let's look with the Footy Pups to find out how to play.
Come and have a look.
To play this you need lots of stamina.
When the whistle blows, all three team mates run to the ball pool.
They need to grab a coloured ball and take it to the
They must keep going until the time runs out.
The winners will be the team who collects the most
balls in the correct-coloured buckets.
Three, two, one...
The Greens race for a ball each.
That's it guys. Make sure you put it in the correct bucket.
Yellow ball, yellow bucket. Perfect.
Rowan's looking for another ball.
There's a lot of balls in that pool,
so they're going to need lots of stamina.
Keep working hard. Building up that heart muscle.
She grabs a red ball, and she's not tired yet.
Take your time if you're feeling tired, but don't stop moving.
Make sure you build up your stamina at home.
The buckets are getting full now,
and even the Pups are looking tired.
Do the Greens have enough stamina?
The Oranges waste no time getting started.
-Pop it in the bucket!
Max is already back for another ball.
-But do they have the stamina to stay at this pace?
-They're making this look easy.
Move about and keep going.
Great stamina, guys,.
There's not long left, but the Pups are loving this game.
But can they collect more balls than the Greens?
-Quick, quick, quick!
-It's all to play for.
I'm on the edge of my seat.
A yellow for Max.
-These guys are stuck in the pool.
-Three, two, one...
Let's have a replay.
The Oranges worked hard throughout the game.
Did they collect more balls than the Greens?
Let's go to Footy Pups Benny and Rex with the final scores.
The Oranges collected 22 balls,
whilst the Greens got 24,
making today's stamina superstars the Greens.
My team today have been healthy-hearted heroes.
We've run short distances, long distances,
and we've run as a team.
Most importantly we've remembered to move about,
work hard, and keep going. That's it for today, guys.
Well done. Now you've got the skill, remember to pass it on.
