Hello, everyone! Squiglet here.

I love flapping my arms like a bird and pretending to fly.

Ha-ha! Wheeee!

BIRD WARBLES

Did you hear that? It sounded like a real bird.

But it was very loud.

Ha! It must be a big bird.

Maybe the biggest bird there is.

An ostrich!

Shall we squiggle our own ostrich? What sort of line could we use?

Let's have a look.

It's a straight line.

Have you got your Squiggle Pads and Squiggle Sticks ready?

Now it's time to get squiggling!

Let's start with the ostrich's long neck.

We'll need a straight line for that.

Straight lines are great! Squiggle one with me.

Down,

and down.

What's yours like?

Down, and down.

Now another straight line next to it.

There's his long neck.

Let's squiggle his head.

Round,

and round.

Then two eyes.

One. Two.

And a pointed beak.

Let's squiggle our ostrich's body.

Round, and round.

A bumpy line to make some feathers on his chest.

Bumpy, bumpy.

Then two more bumpy lines for his wing

and his tail.

Ostriches have very long legs.

A straight line down

with a foot at the end.

And let's squiggle another one here.

There's our ostrich.

Shall we meet him?

Hi, Ozzy. I'm Squiglet.

You're a very big bird.

Yes, I am big. But it doesn't help me fly.

All my other bird friends on the African plain can fly.

But I just can't do it.

Let's all squiggle where Ozzy lives, on the African plain.

We'll start with a straight line for the horizon.

Ready? Across,

across, and across.

Now a curvy line for the sun.

Curve up and over.

And let's use some more straight lines to show the sun shining.

One bright shining sun.

Why don't you colour yours in

while I squiggle the rest of the African plain?

Look! There are my friends.

Ah, just watch them fly.

I wish I could fly like them.

Well, there are other ways to fly.

-How?

-In an aeroplane.

We could squiggle one for you. Have you got your Squiggle Pads

Let's get squiggling!

Let's start with one of our aeroplane's wings.

We'll need some straight lines for that.

Ready? Down,

across, up,

and across.

Now some more straight lines for the aeroplane's body.

Across,

up,

up,

across,

and down. That's the tail.

Now one long straight line across.

Then curve down and straight back across to the wing.

Let's squiggle the other wing.

Up, across,

and down.

All it needs is some seats.

One,

two.

And a propeller to make it fly.

A little triangle,

up,

across,

down, down,

across and up.

I'm colouring my aeroplane in purple.

What colour are you going to make yours?

She is a trapeze artist.

She's one of the many different acts you can see at the circus.

That trapeze act looked fun!

They were flying through the air, just like birds.

Ah, that's it!

If I was a trapeze artist, I could fly!

But where can I do that?

At the circus.

Let's squiggle a circus tent for Ozzy.

Let's start with some straight lines for the roof.

Now some more straight lines for the bottom of the tent.

And a door to get inside.

Let's give our circus tent some stripes.

Lastly, we need two poles at the top.

One, two.

And two guy ropes to hold it all steady.

..two.

I'm going to colour my big top in orange and blue.

What colours are you going to make yours?

There, one big top.

Oh, thanks, everyone.

Look, there's the trapeze!

I can't wait to have a go.

But how do I get up there?

There's a ladder.

You just need to climb to the top and step onto the trapeze.

Look, Ozzy, all of your bird friends are here!

They'll be able to see you fly for the first time!
