Squeak, squeak.

Do you know what I'm pretending to be?

It's something much smaller than me

and they squeak, like this -

"Squeak, squeak. Squeak, squeak."

It's a mouse!

Shall we squiggle our own mouse?

What sort of line could we use?

Let's have a look.

It's a round line!

Have you got your Squiggle Pads and Squiggle Sticks ready?

Now it's time to get squiggling!

Let's start with the mouse's nose.

We'll need a round line for that.

I love round lines.

Squiggle one with me.

Round...

and round.

What's yours like?

Round...

and round.

Now, a curved line for the mouse's body.

Curve round...

and down.

Curve across...

and back up to her nose.

Now, some eyes.

One...two.

And a little curved line for her mouth.

Mice have big ears.

We can use some curved lines for those.

And the other ear.

There.

Two little paws.

One...two.

And two feet.

One...two.

Let's squiggle some straight lines for her whiskers.

And, lastly, a wavy tail.

What a sweet little mouse!

Shall we meet her?

Say the magic words with me.

Hello. I'm Hickory Mouse.

Hi, Hickory. I'm Squiglet.

You look like you're in a hurry.

Are you OK?

It's just, well, I'm always late.

Yes. I'm late for everything -

school, parties, playtime and even my dinner!

Maybe we can help. Where do you live, Hickory?

We can start there.

I live in an old boot, in a place called Mousetown.

We'll start with the top of the boot.

We'll need a round line for that.

Ready?

Let's squiggle the shape of the boot.

Down...

and across the bottom.

And now, curve up

and around, for the toe.

And one straight line up.

We'll need another straight line, for the sole.

Down, across...

and up.

And three little round lines, to make the holes for the laces.

Lastly, three straight lines out from the holes.

Finished - one old boot!

Why don't you colour yours in,

while I squiggle the rest of Mousetown?

So, this is Mousetown?

Yes.

And that's my house.

Do you like living in a boot?

Erm... It's all right,

but it's a bit smelly sometimes

and it gets crowded,

with me, my mum and dad and my brother.

I would like to live somewhere a bit prettier,

without all these old things around.

But even if I did,

I'd still be late for everything.

I'm sure I'm supposed to be somewhere right now!

Oh! Where?

That's the school bell ringing.

Oh, I'm meant to be at school!

Miss Twitch, the headmistress,

said if I'm late again, I'd have to stay behind.

You need to get to places faster.

And how can you get to places faster?

On a scooter!

We can use our round line again, to squiggle the wheels of the scooter.

And a smaller one inside.

Now the other wheel.

And a smaller one on the inside.

Let's join them up with some straight lines.

..two.

And two more lines up.

One...

..two.

Finally, we need the handlebars.

Across, up,

across and down.

I'm colouring my scooter in blue.

What colour are you going to make yours?

Finished - one super-fast scooter!

I've never been on a scooter before.

I'm off to school!

That's right.

And I think a clock is just the thing you need.

We can use our round line to squiggle the face of the clock.

Good!

It needs some hands.

We can use straight lines for those.

Some more straight lines, for the top of the clock.

Across...

down...

and up.

Two straight lines for the body.

One...

two.

And some straight lines inside.

Across, down...

across and up.

Now for the bottom of the clock.

Across, down,

across and up.

There!

Lastly, we'll need a straight line

and a round line, to make the pendulum.

I'm going to colour my clock red.

What colour are you going to make yours?

There - one fantastic clock!

It's a very big clock.

Yes, it's as big as a house.

A mouse house, perhaps?

Oh! What a brilliant idea!

A clock will be a nicer place to live

than an old boot, don't you think?

Mummy! Daddy! It's Hickory! Look!

Squiglet has squiggled me a clock.

Now you'll always know what time it is and never be late again.

Yes! And it's big enough to be our new house.

Er, just one little thing.

Our new house is so nice that I don't want to live with

the old thrown-away things in Mousetown any more.

I'm sure we can fix that.

Where would you like to live?

I've always dreamed of living in the countryside.

Right! The countryside it is.
