Great to have you here, I'm excited to do some cooking.

-What are we going to do later on, Jacob?

-Surfing.

-I love surfing!

But we're going to need loads of energy to do that.

I'll look in Horace and find some ingredients we could use

-to make something to take along. Shall I have a look?

-Yeah.

Look at all these ingredients that I've found.

I've got an orange, I've got some grapes, I've got mint,

I've got orange juice and I've got a mystery ingredient.

-Shall we have a look in my cookbook and find a recipe to make?

-Yeah!

What tasty treats are we going to cook?

Look at those! Looks like we're going make jelly boats.

They look fantastic.

But before we get started on the cooking,

what have we got to do first?

-ALL: Wash our hands!

-Wash our hands, that's right. Come on, let's go.

I am really looking forward to making these jelly boats

because I love jelly. It makes me laugh because it goes

wibbly-wobbly-wibbly-wobbly!

Can you do that? Can you go wibbly-wobbly-wibbly-wobbly?

We need some boats to put our jelly in.

We are going to use two empty orange halves.

I've already taken the middle of the orange out for you.

Over here we've got five grapes.

We cut them in half using a table knife.

It's the knife you use to eat your dinner

so it's absolutely fine for us to use.

Here's a good way to cut your grapes in half.

Put your fingers like this? Can you go snap-snap?

-ALL: Snap, snap, snap.

-What is it?

-Crocodile.

-A crocodile! Just a teeny-weeny crocodile.

Our teeny-weeny crocodile will take a little snap of one of our grapes.

Then we get a knife and cut the grape in half down the middle.

Then we just have to do that with the rest of the grapes.

They look like lots of little ladybirds.

Then we put our grapes into our little boats. We want five in each.

-One, two, three, four, five.

-Five.

And then five in the other.

One, two, three, four, five.

Let's move our boats to the side.

We need a kettle to boil some water. You need to be careful with kettles.

You have to have to get an adult to boil water. Then we need to wait

for the water to cool down until it's just warm enough for us to use.

I've already boiled some water. This is for you, Frances.

And for you, Gethin.

And here's yours, there you go, Jacob.

And there's yours, Dylan.

OK. What do you think this mystery ingredient is that we're going

to add to the warm water?

-Brown sugar.

-No!

It's not sugar, even though it really looks like sugar.

It's called gelatine, which is the ingredient that makes the jelly

go solid and all wibbly-wobbly.

Take a teaspoon of this gelatine. So, load it up and take your finger

to pat it down, like this.

Pat, pat, pat, pat, pat.

Pat, pat, pat, pat.

Then we sprinkle it into our water, like this, sprinkle,

sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle.

Then we just give it a good mix.

Make a whirlpool.

Can anyone see what's happening to the gelatine?

-It's soaking into the water.

-Yeah, it's disappearing.

We call that dissolving.

Once the gelatine has completely dissolved,

we want to add some juiciness to our jelly boats.

We add some juicy orange juice.

Can everyone go... # Juicy-juicy-juicy-juicy! #

# Juicy-juicy-juicy-juicy! #

We're going to do some measuring with our orange juice.

We're going to play the measuring game.

The pourer is going to pour the orange juice into the jug

until it reaches the line

between the two red arrows.

The watcher needs to get right down so they're

right by the measuring jug

and tell the pourer when to stop.

And you can be my partner and tell me when to stop. OK?

All right, are you ready?

-Yeah!

-Let's get pouring, everyone!

-Stop!

-Thank you very much, you're good at being the watcher.

-OK, has everyone done it?

-Stop!

OK, next we pour the gelatine and the water into our orange juice

with a big splash.

-Splash!

-Splash!

-Has everyone got a muffin tray on their table?

-Yes!

Share this muffin tray and put your jelly boats into it.

Then we pour our jelly mixture

into each of the jelly boats.

There you go.

We can't have jelly boats without a sail, can we?

-No.

-I'll show you an easy way to make a sail. We'll use this.

It's mint. It's a herb that's got a really great smell.

Why don't you give it a smell and see what it smells like? Oh, wow!

That's really strong.

Hold the mint leaf out in front of you, like this,

and then bend the mint over.

That's it, fold it. Take a little cocktail stick, which I've already

snipped off the sharp bit. You have to get an adult

to help you with that part, and then just put the cocktail stick

through the top of the mint leaf, just underneath the fold.

Then open it up.

And you've got a sail.

We put those in our pot because we'll put them in later

when the jelly has gone more solid.

That's it, you've done it, you made jelly boats all by yourself.

All we do now is put them in the fridge.

You need to get an adult to help you put these in the fridge

because we don't want them to spill everywhere, do we? There we go.

Gently does it. Right, just need to wait for those to set now.

Don't forget, Katy, we need to make everywhere tidy and clean.

Scrub those pots till they sparkle and gleam.

You're right, Mr Spoon, we do. Come on, everyone, let's tidy up.

Our jelly boats are in the fridge getting wibbly-wobbly,

OK, everyone, Jacob's going to teach us some surf skills.

Can you show us first how to paddle on surfboards?

We need to get on our bellies, everyone. Then what we have to do?

Push down a little bit and go like that.

Push so your toes are right at the back of the board.

What do we do next?

You have to do big ones, like that.

-And then do the next one.

-All right,

so we have to do big paddles.

-Am I doing it right, Jacob?

-No.

-No? Oh.

-More like that.

-Like that, with my hand?

-That's it.

-That's it? Is that good?

-That's good.

-I think I'm getting better.

-How do we stand up on our board, Jacob?

-You have to hold onto there.

-Hold onto the sides, everyone.

-Pull up.

Then get up, turn over, and do that.

And we balance.

-And a wave picks you up.

-And then we ride the wave.

-Yeah.

These surf-skills make me hungry.

-Shall we have a snack before we go in the sea?

-Yeah!

-Listen, Horace is telling us the food's ready.

You set up the picnic, I'll collect the food

Hello, Katy. Those jelly boats look fantastic.

Don't they just, Mr Spoon? They look even better now the jelly's set.

I'm just going to put these mint sails in to add the finishing touch.

They're the best jelly boats I've ever seen. Can't wait to try one.

I better get them to my friends.
