We're going to have a picnic and play lots of games.

-and see what ingredients we can take with us.

-ALL: Yes.

We're making a picnic loaf today. Does it look amazing or what?!

-Yes!

-It looks great, doesn't it?

But before we start cooking, what do we have to do first?

ALL: Wash our hands!

That's right - wash our hands!

Come on, everyone, let's go.

We've washed our hands so let's start!

Now this recipe is so much fun

because we're all going to make it together in a big team.

We will fill this lovely cottage loaf with lots of lovely ingredients

to make a sort of giant sandwich.

Then we can all share it later on.

-That's good, isn't it?

-ALL: Yes!

Oh, let's all pretend to be giants, first.

You can join in with us. Make yourself REALLY big.

That's it, like this. Chin up, and then say...

ALL: Fee-fi-fo-fum! I want some picnic loaf in my tum!

All right, giants. First, we split this picnic loaf into three slices,

which I've done for you, and I'll give you each a slice.

So, this slice is for you. Pop it there...

I'll keep the little slice. And this slice is for you guys.

There you go.

OK, the next thing we'll do, team, is use our brushes.

So grab your brushes. Give them a little wiggle.

That's it. Dip them in some oil. Give it a good swishy-swash.

Then brush the oil all over your bread to make it nice and shiny.

It's a bit like painting!

Why don't you pretend to do some brushing, as well?

Just pretend you've got a brush...then go

brush, brush, brush! You're really good at that.

How are we doing, everybody?

-Great.

-That looks really good, Callum.

Once you've brushed the whole piece, pop your brushes down,

because next we're going to snip up some lovely cherry tomatoes.

Which look like this!

Now, everyone, take your scissors, and remember, when using scissors,

everybody knows, we need to point them down towards our...?

-TOES!

-You've got it, guys!

Hold the handle of the cup, and let's get snipping.

Oh! These tomatoes are really exploding.

What's coming out of the tomatoes?

-ALL: Seeds.

-What would happen if we planted the seeds?

It would turn into a plant that would have tomatoes on it.

That's right. It would.

Stop snipping your tomatoes,

and just pop your cup to one side.

We're going to use that later on.

Next, we'll make a pattern on our bread slices.

And our first ingredient is lovely salad leaves,

which you've got on your tables.

So take some salad leaves

and scatter them over your bread slice.

Oh, you've got loads!

OK, next we add a lovely layer of meat.

The meats we're using today are salami and ham.

But you can use any meat you want to.

So grab a little piece of meat.

And add a nice layer over the salad leaves. That looks so tasty!

Once you've done that, we'll add a lovely layer of cheese.

Who likes cheese?

Me!

Do you like cheese? I thought so!

Now get your cheese and add a lovely layer on top of your meat.

Off you go!

And next, add the lovely chopped tomatoes we snipped up earlier on.

Once you've sprinkled all the tomatoes over,

we'll finally add some lovely flavour with a herb.

And it begins with the letter...B. Can anyone guess what it is?

-Basil.

-Basil! You've got it.

So grab your basil and sprinkle it all over.

So that's all the decorating done,

so now we need to put the picnic loaf together like a big jigsaw.

So, I'll come and get your slice.

Oh, my goodness. I'll have to balance it. Follow me.

And we'll put it all together. So we put that bit on there...

-THEY LAUGH

-..and that bit on there like a hat!

And we'll squash it down.

So let's put our hands on top of it - one, two, three...squash!

And let's look at it. Oh, it looks wonderful.

We need to wrap it up like a present. So I'll get some foil.

Put it on top... Wrap it up - off we go!

THEY SQUEAL

It's like a great big silver present!

And that's it. You've done it!

You've made your picnic loaf all by yourselves!

Now we just pop this in the fridge.

Now, I'll put something heavy on top of our loaf

so keep it nice and squashed in the fridge.

And you'll need to get an adult to help you with this bit.

Carefully, does it. There we go.
