Hooray!

0:21:460:21:48

-Who wants to know what recipe we're going to cook?

-Me!

0:21:480:21:52

Well, today's recipe is Playtime Popovers.

0:21:520:21:56

Mmm! They look tasty, don't they?

0:21:560:21:59

Don't you take one yet, you cheeky pickles!

0:21:590:22:02

Now, before we get started on the cooking,

0:22:020:22:05

we have to do something first. What do you think it is?

0:22:050:22:08

Wash our hands!

0:22:080:22:09

Wash our hands. You've got it! Off you go, team!

0:22:090:22:14

# Roll up your sleeves Give your hands a wash

0:22:170:22:20

# With slippy dippy soap Splish, splash, splosh!

0:22:200:22:23

# Have you done your hands? Washed and dried

0:22:230:22:26

# Sleeves rolled up, apron tied

0:22:260:22:29

# What can you do? I can cook! #

0:22:290:22:32

Let's get started on these Playtime Popovers.

0:22:340:22:37

The first thing to do is make a batter.

0:22:370:22:40

And to do that we need an egg and we've got an egg here.

0:22:400:22:43

Eggs can come from a few different animals.

0:22:430:22:47

But this one comes from a... Squawk! Squawk! Squawk!

0:22:470:22:50

-A chicken!

-A chicken.

0:22:500:22:52

-Who can pretend to be a chicken?

-SQUAWKING

0:22:520:22:56

And we're going to crack our chicken's egg into this cup.

0:22:560:23:01

Knock, knock, knock! Make a nice big crack.

0:23:010:23:05

-Can you see?

-Yes!

0:23:050:23:06

Then we use our thumbs to open this up. Watch this!

0:23:060:23:11

Open sesame! There's our egg. Look at that.

0:23:110:23:13

That was a good one actually. We all did it!

0:23:130:23:17

Everyone say yeah!

0:23:170:23:19

Yeah!

0:23:190:23:21

The next thing we need to do is some whisking.

0:23:210:23:24

We'll whisk using our fork. You can do whisking at home too.

0:23:240:23:28

Get your cup, like this and your fork, like that.

0:23:280:23:31

And you go whisk, whisk, whisk!

0:23:310:23:33

-Are you ready, team?

-Yes!

0:23:330:23:35

Hold the handle and let's get whisking!

0:23:350:23:38

This is fun!

0:23:410:23:43

And when you've whisked your egg up properly, it will look all gloopy.

0:23:440:23:48

Look at this, see. Gloopy! That's just right.

0:23:480:23:54

We need to splosh this egg into this bowl of flour

0:23:540:23:59

we've got here. Ready, everybody?

0:23:590:24:01

And splosh. Oh! Mine's made an eggy pond around a big flour mountain.

0:24:010:24:08

We mix everything in this bowl up together.

0:24:080:24:11

So give it a good mix.

0:24:110:24:14

I'm mixing, I'm mixing.

0:24:140:24:17

-I'm mixing.

-Mine's all gooey.

0:24:170:24:19

Get right round the edges, everyone.

0:24:190:24:22

Next we're going to measure some milk.

0:24:240:24:27

-Milk comes from cows, and what noise do cows make?

-Moo!

0:24:270:24:32

Let's play the measuring game. This is how you play.

0:24:320:24:37

One person is the pourer, they pour the milk into this jug.

0:24:370:24:42

The other person is going to be the watcher.

0:24:420:24:46

They put their watcher goggles on like this.

0:24:460:24:50

The watcher stays down low, with the jug,

0:24:500:24:53

to make sure that the pourer fills it up to where the red marker is.

0:24:530:24:58

If they've put in too much, tell them to pour a bit out.

0:24:580:25:02

Tell him when to stop.

0:25:020:25:06

Keep going...stop.

0:25:060:25:08

Good job, David.

0:25:080:25:10

More. More. More. More.

0:25:100:25:13

-Stop.

-Perfect. What a good team you are!

0:25:170:25:22

Now we've got our milk, we pour it into our batter mix in the bowl,

0:25:220:25:26

with a big splash.

0:25:260:25:28

Splash!

0:25:280:25:29

-Wow! Gosh!

-That's a cool mix.

0:25:290:25:33

OK, let's give it a quick mix.

0:25:330:25:35

But we have to be very careful because the milk is very naughty.

0:25:350:25:40

Sometimes it escapes out of the bowl.

0:25:400:25:42

We're going to add some flavour next.

0:25:420:25:45

Add wholegrain mustard.

0:25:450:25:48

Can you see the little bits? Little mustard seeds.

0:25:480:25:51

Now use your fork to scrape it into your batter. There we go.

0:25:510:25:56

-Can you see the seeds swimming about?

-Yep, mine's going swimming.

0:25:560:26:00

They love having a good old swim.

0:26:000:26:03

Keep mixing until we get a really silky smooth batter.

0:26:030:26:07

That's our batter mix all finished.

0:26:070:26:11

But I wonder what we need next in our Playtime Popovers?

0:26:110:26:14

What's next? Let us see if you can guess what it could be.

0:26:140:26:19

So, we've got some peas, some mushrooms,

0:26:250:26:30

and a loaf of bread.

0:26:300:26:33

What would you choose?

0:26:330:26:35

The special ingredient can be white or brown.

0:26:350:26:40

Peas are green, so it's not that one.

0:26:400:26:43

Let's take that away. There we go.

0:26:430:26:45

Here's another clue.

0:26:450:26:47

So the special ingredient can be white or brown,

0:26:470:26:51

and it's in the shape of a little umbrella.

0:26:510:26:54

Well, a loaf of bread can be white or brown

0:26:540:26:58

but it's not in the shape of an umbrella.

0:26:580:27:00

Let's take that one away. Which leaves us with mushrooms.

0:27:000:27:05

We need mushrooms for our Playtime Popovers. And I went to find some.

0:27:050:27:10

I'm at a farm in Northamptonshire to find some mushrooms.

0:27:160:27:21

So let's go on a mushroom hunt.

0:27:210:27:24

Mushrooms grow from millions of little things called spores.

0:27:240:27:29

The spores start growing

0:27:290:27:31

and huddle together to make the head of the mushroom, the pin.

0:27:310:27:36

We can see it just here.

0:27:360:27:38

The mushrooms can grow from this to this in less than one week!

0:27:390:27:47

How amazing is that?

0:27:470:27:49

And you can pick them

0:27:490:27:51

when they're small, medium and when they're giant, like this one!

0:27:510:27:56

You just have to twist and pick.

0:27:560:28:01

Now, you can't eat all mushrooms.

0:28:010:28:04

So to be safe, only eat mushrooms you get from the shops.

0:28:040:28:09

Give these a wipe

0:28:090:28:10

and then they'll be great to use in our Playtime Popovers.

0:28:100:28:15

Mushrooms are a really funny shape, aren't they? Look!

0:28:150:28:20

Don't they look funny? Oh, who can do a mushroom face?

0:28:200:28:25

Go like this, and go... Brilliant mushroom face!

0:28:250:28:30

Let's play the break and flake game with our mushrooms.

0:28:300:28:35

Play it by doing this, look. Break and flake,

0:28:350:28:39

break and flake. Who can do that?

0:28:390:28:42

-Me.

-Off you go, then. Break and flake. And again.

0:28:420:28:46

We're going to do the break and flake. The break and flake.

0:28:460:28:51

Sprinkle a bit of mushroom into each muffin case

0:28:510:28:55

which I've already oiled for you. So sprinkle!

0:28:550:28:59

-Mushrooms are good for you.

-Yes, they are.

0:29:010:29:04

Next we're going to snip up some cooked bacon. Who likes bacon?

0:29:040:29:09

Me!

0:29:090:29:10

Now, if you don't like bacon or if you don't eat it,

0:29:100:29:14

use something else, like spring onions or chives,

0:29:140:29:18

that would taste nice too.

0:29:180:29:19

We snip up our bacon using scissors, but remember,

0:29:190:29:23

be safe with scissors.

0:29:230:29:25

-Everybody knows that we need to point then down towards our..

-Toes!

0:29:250:29:30

One, two, three, let's get snipping! Snip, snip, snippity snip!

0:29:300:29:37

Once you've finished, put your cooked bacon with your mushrooms.

0:29:370:29:41

-Lovely jubbly.

-Jubbly lovely.

0:29:410:29:46

I don't have more bacon.

0:29:490:29:51

Next add some colour, some red, chopped-up tomatoes.

0:29:510:29:55

-Let's put some tomatoes into our cases.

-One tomato for me.

0:29:550:29:59

One tomato, two tomato. Like the little cherries on top of the cake.

0:29:590:30:05

-I've got tomatoes on my cake!

-These will be so tasty.

0:30:050:30:09

-Has everyone done that?

-Yeah.

0:30:090:30:11

Pour the batter mix we made earlier on

0:30:110:30:15

into our muffin cases

0:30:150:30:17

and all of the ingredients will disappear. Are you ready? Go.

0:30:170:30:21

When all of the ingredients have disappeared, you stop.

0:30:230:30:27

That's it, that's enough.

0:30:270:30:29

And then do the next one.

0:30:290:30:32

-Stop!

-Whoa!

0:30:320:30:35

-Ooh!

-Don't worry if any of the ingredients are sticking out

0:30:350:30:38

because they go really crispy in the oven.

0:30:380:30:42

-Mine's almost covered.

-They look like cakes.

0:30:440:30:47

-Let's make sure we get every last drip in.

-This is my last drip in.

0:30:470:30:53

And that is it, team, you've done it.

0:30:530:30:56

You've put all the ingredients together by yourself.

0:30:560:31:00

Now it's time to put them in the oven to cook.

0:31:000:31:04

But remember, ovens are hot, so don't go near.

0:31:050:31:09

Ask a grown-up to help you here.

0:31:090:31:12

# Now we've cooked with you and had lots of fun

0:31:130:31:16

# Let's tidy up and think of all the things we've done

0:31:160:31:21

-# There was

-whisking,

-flipping

-cracking,

-and flaking

0:31:210:31:25

# Now clearing any mess and putting things away

0:31:250:31:29

# Is always fun to do at the end of the day. #

0:31:290:31:32

OVEN PINGS

0:31:320:31:34

Here's our food and it's all ready for us to have a look at.

0:31:340:31:39

There's yours, Tiffany. Let's have a look at Harry's!

0:31:390:31:44

-Oh, yeah. Nice, Harry!

-What's happened to the tomato?

0:31:440:31:48

-It's gone all crispy.

-I've got an alien with one eye.

0:31:480:31:52

Let's have a look at Tiffany's.

0:31:520:31:57

They're soft.

0:31:570:31:59

-What were they like before?

-All gooey and wet.

0:31:590:32:02

Look at this smiley face.

0:32:020:32:04

Look at the eyes and nose and mouth.

0:32:040:32:07

It looks like a muffin, too, and a mini-pizza.

0:32:070:32:10

Let's put the lids on, and save this for later.

0:32:100:32:14

We've travelled to you, we've cooked and had fun,

0:32:140:32:18

-now let's have a party with everyone.

-Yeah!

0:32:180:32:21

Come on, team, let's go. And you can come with us.

0:32:210:32:26

I can't wait to play basketball. But let's eat our food first.

0:32:260:32:32

-We've done the break and flake?

-How did you do that?

0:32:320:32:35

Just take something, then squish it on your hands.

0:32:350:32:39

-Wow, that's fantastic! It's really good.

-Look what I made!

-Wow!

0:32:390:32:45

-That smells great. What is it?

-Playtime Popover.

0:32:450:32:50

Yummy, this piece for you. Mmm! Oh, it's got mushrooms in it.

0:32:500:32:56

You put egg, milk, flour.

0:32:560:32:59

-You made it all by yourself?

-Yes.

0:32:590:33:03

They're delicious, they're really nice.

0:33:030:33:07

It's nice.

0:33:070:33:08

What other ingredients could we put in our Playtime Popovers?

0:33:080:33:13

-Sausages.

-Sausages would be delicious.

-Yeah.

0:33:130:33:18

-What would you put in it?

-Beans.

0:33:180:33:20

Baked beans? That would be nice on the side.

0:33:200:33:23

-What will you cook next time?

-A big cake.

0:33:230:33:27

-What flavour will the cake be?

-Strawberry.

0:33:270:33:30

-Will you send me a photo?

-Yes.

-So what can you do?

0:33:300:33:35

ALL: I can cook!

0:33:350:33:37

-With me and...

-..with you.

0:33:370:33:40

If you would like to make some Playtime Popovers,

0:33:400:33:44

you can find the recipe on our website.

0:33:440:33:47

-Now we've let our food go down, who wants to play basketball?

-Me!

0:33:510:33:56

Come on, team, let's go. Ooh-oo!
