Well, here we are in the park where I've been invited by Felix.

There he is with his friends. Hi, everyone!

ALL: Hi, Katy!

Come on, come over here!

It's great to meet you. What are your names?

-Matthew.

-Hey, Pippy!

-Lara.

-Hi, Lara. It's great to meet everyone.

Felix, what are we doing today?

Making stuff for my pirate party!

Pirates?! I love pirates! Brilliant!

Everyone, I've got the perfect thing to cook. Follow me.

ALL: Yay!

Welcome to my outdoor kitchen.

We can stay nice and dry in here in case it rains.

Now, who wants to know what pirate-y recipe we're going to cook today?

ALL: Me!

OK, I will show you. Today's recipe is...

treasure chest tart! Argh!

ALL: Yay!

It smells delicious, too!

Before we make it, we've got to do something important.

-Do you know what it is?

-ALL: Wash our hands!

That's right, we've got to wash our hands, let's go!

# Roll up your sleeves

# Give your hands a wash with slippy-dippy soap

# Splish splash splosh

# Have you done your hands?

# Washed and dried

# Sleeves rolled up

# Apron tied

# What can you do? I can cook! #

Let's get started! Can you go like this

"Ha-argh, me hearties!"

ALL: Ha-argh, me hearties!

-Brilliant! Are you ready?

-ALL: Yes!

-Fantastic.

The first thing we need for our treasure chest

is some jewels so here I have got some rubies.

Ha-argh! They're not really rubies. They're cherry tomatoes.

And we are going to snip them up.

And you can snip with us, using your snippy fingers!

Like this... Snip, snip, snip.

Let's get snipping!

Wow, look at that! Mine exploded!

LAUGHING

It just exploded!

When you've snipped your tomatoes, we'll add them to a bowl.

Splosh! Splosh!

Next, we'll add basil leaves to our treasure chest.

-Give them a quick sniff. Do they smell?

-Yes.

-Yeah, they do.

-They smell even stronger when we rip and tear them.

Rip and tear!

And you can do that, too.

You rip and tear

and rip and tear!

And into the bowl.

So we've got our basil leaves and tomatoes...

or our rubies and our emeralds.

-Ha-argh!

-ALL: Ha-argh, me hearties!

You are a very good pirate!

Next we need our pinchy pirate.

Here's how to make one. Put your thumb down

and then you put your two fingers on top

-and go "Rargh, rargh, rargh!"

-ALL: Rargh, rargh!

So take a pinch of paprika and sprinkle it in and say...

ALL: "Paprika!"

Paprika can be spicy so we don't want to get it near our eyes

so let's give our hands a wipe. Our next ingredient is spring onions

so let's spring like a spring onion and add it to our bowl.

ALL: Boing, boing, boing!

Boing! Fantastic!

So in our treasure chest, we have rubies...

-ALL: Ha-argh!

-..we have emeralds...

ALL: Ha-argh, me hearties!

..and we've got lots of other colourful jewels as well!

Next we'll add some of this. Does anyone know what it is?

-Oil.

-That's right, it's oil

and we're going to add it to our bowl with a big splash.

Why don't you join in with us? One, two, three, splash!

Woo-hoo! And the next thing we're going to do is pop a pepper!

Who can say "pop a pepper" really quickly again and again?

ALL: Pop a pepper, pop a pepper, pop a pepper!

-Pop a...

-ALL: Pepper!

-Well, let's do it, then!

We need our thumbs for this. Show me your thumbs.

And put them on top of the green button,

which is actually the pepper's stalk.

We're going to push down really hard and pop our pepper.

LAUGHTER

-Did it!

-He did it!

Then we need to rip our pepper into two halves.

Ready? Rip!

-I did it!

-So let's turn our two pepper sides over like that

and we're going to play them gently like they're drums!

Not too hard.

Lift them up and the seeds should come out.

We've got two halves of pepper but we only need three pieces for a tart

so we're going to do some more ripping and tearing again.

So let's add three of these pieces of pepper into our bowl.

One, two, three.

Now we'll give everything a good mix. Don't forget to mix with us.

I wonder what ingredient we'll need next in our recipe.

What is next?

Well, let us see if you can guess what it could be.

So we've got some strawberries,

some cheese

and we've got some sweetcorn.

What would you choose for our treasure chest tart?

Well, our special ingredient is yellow.

Strawberries are red so we can take that one away.

The special ingredient is a vegetable.

Cheese isn't a vegetable, is it?

Cheese comes from milk so we can take that one away, too.

Which leaves us with sweetcorn.

We'll need some lovely sweetcorn for our treasure chest tarts

so I went to find some!

I've come to Farrington Gurney in north east Somerset

to find some sweetcorn.

This is what we're looking for. It's called the cob.

Now, if you open the sweetcorn up like this,

you can see the cob inside

and these yellow pieces are called the kernels.

You know when sweetcorn's ready to pick

because the funny hairdo on top goes a browny colour.

Come on, let's go on a sweetcorn hunt.

This is a very young sweetcorn plant with no cobs growing on it yet

so let's keep looking.

Wow, here's one that's bigger than me!

You can see that the funny hairdo's gone a bit brown

and the sweetcorn is much bigger, but it's still not ready to pick

so let's head back to the farm shop and find some that are ready.

Lovely, ripe sweetcorn. Just what we need for our treasure chest tarts!

And now we can use our delicious sweetcorn in our recipe.

We've got some sweetcorn that I've taken off the cob.

Hey, pirates, I think it looks like golden nuggets.

More gold for our pirate treasure chest! Ha-argh!

ALL: Ah-argh, me hearties!

All right, everyone, let's take one big tablespoon of our sweetcorn

and then put that into your bowl.

Now we've got our treasure, we need to make a treasure chest.

We're going to use puff pastry.

Puff pastry is really cool because when it gets hot,

the spaces in-between the layers get bigger and bigger...

ALL: And bigger!

..and bigger until it puffs up like an air balloon! Like this!

Now, we can't use the puff pastry

until we sprinkle some flour all over our mats.

Let's get sprinkling! Woo-hoo!

It looks like it's snowing! And stop!

Bring your puff pastry over

and sprinkle a little bit more snow on top. Fantastic.

Put your hand on top and we're going to go, "Pat, pat, pat."

When your pastry is flat, we'll cut round the edge of it

and this is called trimming.

To do that, we'll need to use a knife.

Some knives can be sharp so be careful

but this is a table knife which is the kind of knife you use at home

which is absolutely fine to use.

Put your hand on top of the pastry and trim down the side.

I did it!

The next thing we need to do is draw a square in the middle of a pastry.

Twist it and draw...

twist it and draw...

twist and draw.

The last thing we need to do is put the treasure in the treasure chest.

Inside the box. Remember to put all of your treasure in, pirates.

-This is going to be yummy!

-And that is it!

-ALL: Yay!

You put the ingredients together for your tart all by yourself!

I'll put them in the oven so you don't get wet!

But remember ovens are hot so don't go near.

Ask a grown-up to help you here.
