-DING!

0:20:270:20:29

-Ah, here we are.

-Hello, Katy.

0:20:290:20:31

My family loves going on boat trips, and I like fish.

0:20:310:20:35

-Now, that sounds like fun!

-Katy, can you cook with me, please?

0:20:350:20:40

Oh, I definitely can, Amber!

0:20:400:20:42

Brilliant! And you can cook with me too!

0:20:420:20:46

I wonder if I'll get to go out on the boat? How exciting!

0:20:460:20:49

Right, let's get packed up and get on our way!

0:21:010:21:04

Well, here we are at the harbour,

0:21:040:21:07

where I've been invited by Amber, but I don't know where she is!

0:21:070:21:12

-Oh, she's over there with her friends! Hi, Amber.

-Hi, Katy.

0:21:120:21:17

-Amber, are these all of your friends?

-Yes.

-What's your name?

0:21:170:21:21

-Ryan.

-Amy.

-And what's your name?

-Kyle!

0:21:210:21:25

-Do you want to go for a picnic?

-Yes, please!

0:21:250:21:28

And after, would you like to go on my dad's boat?

0:21:280:21:31

I would love to!

0:21:310:21:33

And I have a delicious recipe to cook at the picnic.

0:21:330:21:37

-Shall we cook it, everyone?

-ALL: Yes!

-Great!

0:21:370:21:41

Follow me, I'll show you.

0:21:410:21:45

ALL: Yay!

0:21:450:21:47

Welcome to my outdoor kitchen!

0:21:470:21:50

-Shall I tell you what we'll be cooking?

-ALL: Yes!

0:21:500:21:53

Today's recipe is seaside bites!

0:21:530:21:57

ALL: Mmm-m-m-m-m-m!

0:21:570:22:00

How tasty do they look?

0:22:000:22:01

Before we get started cooking,

0:22:010:22:03

we have to do something really important. Do you know what it is?

0:22:030:22:08

ALL: Wash our hands!

0:22:080:22:11

Wash our hands, of course!

0:22:110:22:13

Come on, everyone, let's get going!

0:22:130:22:17

# Roll up your sleeves

0:22:200:22:21

# Give your hands a wash with

0:22:210:22:23

# Slippy-dippy soap

0:22:230:22:25

# Splish, splash, splosh

0:22:250:22:26

# Have you done your hands?

0:22:260:22:27

# Washed and dried?

0:22:270:22:29

# Sleeves rolled up

0:22:290:22:30

# Apron tied

0:22:300:22:32

# What can you do?

0:22:320:22:34

# I can cook! #

0:22:340:22:35

Right, let's get started on our seaside bites.

0:22:380:22:41

The first thing we need is two slices of bread.

0:22:410:22:44

Oh, look. Watch. If I do this...

0:22:440:22:47

Prrr!

0:22:470:22:49

..they look like elephant ears.

0:22:490:22:52

ALL: Prrr!

0:22:520:22:55

OK, we're going to use these two slices of bread,

0:22:550:22:58

and we're going to roll them to make them flat, like this.

0:22:580:23:02

OK, so let's put our rolling pin on top of our bread.

0:23:020:23:06

Stretch your hands out in front of you, like so.

0:23:060:23:09

And make your fingers really wide.

0:23:090:23:12

These are your duck-feet fingers! Now, keep them really wide.

0:23:120:23:16

We'll put them on our rolling pin.

0:23:160:23:19

And then we need to roll the bread to make it really flat.

0:23:190:23:24

Why not do some rolling too, at home?

0:23:240:23:26

Get your duck-feet fingers and go...

0:23:260:23:29

squish, squash, squish, squash!

0:23:290:23:33

Squish, squash, squish, squash...

0:23:330:23:37

That's good, Ryan. Brilliant!

0:23:370:23:39

And then we need to make two bread circles,

0:23:390:23:43

and we're going to use a pastry cutter to cut the bread.

0:23:430:23:48

It looks a little bit like a seaside telescope.

0:23:480:23:52

-Ha, ha! What can you see through your telescope, Ryan?

-You!

-Me?

0:23:520:23:56

Well, I can see you too!

0:23:560:23:58

Can you see anything through yours?

0:23:580:24:01

OK, let's use our pastry cutter to make a circle.

0:24:010:24:05

So let's put one here...

0:24:050:24:07

I'll give it a wiggle, a twist...

0:24:070:24:10

Good wiggling!

0:24:100:24:12

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle while they do it.

0:24:120:24:15

And let's do one in the other slice of bread, too.

0:24:150:24:19

Next we go to crack an egg,

0:24:210:24:23

and this egg comes from a chicken.

0:24:230:24:26

Chicken!

0:24:260:24:27

-Shall we crack this egg into our bowl?

-Yeah.

0:24:270:24:30

You have to knock on the door.

0:24:300:24:32

Knock, knock, knock.

0:24:320:24:34

Knock, knock, knock.

0:24:340:24:36

And then we use our thumbs and open it up.

0:24:380:24:43

Oh, no! That's OK, just take that bit out.

0:24:450:24:49

OK, to the egg we'll add some milk, which is in this bowl here.

0:24:490:24:53

Let's splash it in. Ready? One, two, three, splash!

0:24:530:24:58

Now, we need our pinching parrot to take a pinch of black pepper.

0:24:590:25:05

I'll show you how to get it out.

0:25:050:25:07

Put your thumb like this...

0:25:070:25:09

and your fingers like that...

0:25:090:25:11

and you go, squawk, squawk, squawk! This is your pinching parrot!

0:25:110:25:17

We need a pinch of black pepper.

0:25:170:25:19

Squawk! And sprinkle it into the bowl.

0:25:190:25:24

OK, now we've added our pepper,

0:25:240:25:26

we need to mix everything in this bowl, using our fork.

0:25:260:25:32

And stop, everyone. You can put your forks down now. Because it's time...

0:25:360:25:42

-To get messy!

-Everyone say, "Let's get messy!"

-ALL: Let's get messy!

0:25:420:25:47

We're going to take our bready circles

0:25:470:25:51

and soak them in the eggy mixture.

0:25:510:25:53

Ready? One, two...

0:25:530:25:55

Put your hands in.

0:25:550:25:57

Ah, look at that!

0:25:570:25:59

Oh, it feels funny, doesn't it, Ryan?

0:25:590:26:02

And once they've soaked up most of the eggy mixture,

0:26:020:26:05

you need to take out your eggy-bread circles

0:26:050:26:08

and put them in the muffin cases, here.

0:26:080:26:11

It's like a tiny bed for the ingredients we'll put in later.

0:26:110:26:15

Ooh, look at my eggy fingers!

0:26:150:26:17

-Shall we wipe our hands, everyone?

-ALL: Yeah!

-Good idea.

0:26:170:26:21

What will we need next for our seaside bites?

0:26:210:26:24

What ingredient is next? Let us see if you can guess what it could be!

0:26:240:26:30

What would you choose for our seaside bites?

0:26:310:26:36

Well, we've got some Brussels sprouts...

0:26:360:26:40

trout...

0:26:400:26:42

and a boat. Hmm.

0:26:420:26:44

I know, I'll give you clues and you can guess what it might be.

0:26:440:26:48

Our special ingredient is found in rivers or the sea.

0:26:480:26:54

You won't find Brussels sprouts in rivers or the sea,

0:26:540:26:57

so we can take that one away.

0:26:570:27:00

OK, here's another clue.

0:27:000:27:02

The ingredient is found in rivers or the sea, and it's a type of fish.

0:27:020:27:09

You can find boats in rivers and in the sea,

0:27:090:27:11

but it's not a type of fish,

0:27:110:27:13

so we can remove that one too.

0:27:130:27:15

Which leaves us with trout!

0:27:150:27:18

We're going to need some trout in our seaside bites,

0:27:180:27:22

and I went to find some.

0:27:220:27:24

I've come to Guildford in Surrey to find some fish,

0:27:310:27:35

and I'm sure I'm going to find some in here.

0:27:350:27:38

We could use many kinds of fish for our seaside bites

0:27:390:27:43

but we're going to use sea trout.

0:27:430:27:45

Here's a sea-trout fillet.

0:27:450:27:48

And look, it's a nice orangey, pinky colour.

0:27:480:27:52

All I need to do now is get it wrapped up.

0:27:520:27:54

-Please, can I have this wrapped up, Duncan?

-Of course.

0:27:540:27:58

-There you go.

-Thanks!

0:28:030:28:05

I can't wait to use this in our seaside bites!

0:28:050:28:08

That was interesting, wasn't it?

0:28:120:28:14

I've got our trout here to use in our recipe.

0:28:140:28:17

It's important when cooking fish

0:28:170:28:20

to make sure there are no bones in it.

0:28:200:28:24

I've already checked the trout to make sure there aren't.

0:28:240:28:28

We're ready to go!

0:28:280:28:29

First, we'll snip the trout up, and for that we'll use scissors.

0:28:290:28:35

Remember, be safe with them.

0:28:350:28:37

-Everybody knows you point them down towards your...

-ALL: Toes!

0:28:370:28:41

Toes! You've got it.

0:28:410:28:44

Take your trout and use your scissors to snip it up.

0:28:440:28:47

And we want to snip them into bite-size pieces, about this big.

0:28:470:28:52

Aa-a-a-a-a-ah.

0:28:520:28:54

That's it. OK, let's get snipping, everybody.

0:28:540:28:58

When you've snipped your fish, just put it into your bowl

0:29:010:29:05

with the eggy mixture that's been left over.

0:29:050:29:09

Let's put our plates over here, and give our hands a quick wipe,

0:29:090:29:13

because we've been touching fish.

0:29:130:29:16

The next thing we're going to use are these.

0:29:160:29:19

And they are a herb called chives,

0:29:190:29:22

and they come from the family of onions.

0:29:220:29:25

When chopped, they have a very strong smell.

0:29:250:29:28

So, shall we snip them up?

0:29:280:29:30

OK, hold the handle of your cup

0:29:300:29:33

and snip them up.

0:29:330:29:35

And then add them to the bowl.

0:29:400:29:42

Bang, bang, bang, bang.

0:29:420:29:44

Bang, bang, bang, bang.

0:29:440:29:47

The last thing we'll add to the bowl is some horseradish.

0:29:470:29:52

And it's got a really strong smell. Why don't you smell it?

0:29:520:29:57

It has a strong taste and adds a lovely flavour,

0:29:570:30:00

so let's tap that out. There we go.

0:30:000:30:03

Out.

0:30:060:30:07

And when you've got your horseradish in your bowl,

0:30:070:30:10

-we'll give it a big...

-ALL: Mix!

0:30:100:30:13

-OK, off you go!

-Yeah!

0:30:130:30:16

Don't forget, we need you to join in with us as well.

0:30:160:30:20

Get your bowl, like this, and then get your fork, like this,

0:30:200:30:24

and go, mix, mix, mix.

0:30:240:30:29

It looks very yummy.

0:30:290:30:31

I think it'll taste even yummier.

0:30:310:30:34

Finally, we put the mixture into our muffin cases with our eggy bread.

0:30:340:30:39

So, let's use our fork to scoop out the fish.

0:30:390:30:45

I'll put a little bit in here.

0:30:450:30:48

Then all we need to do is pour the rest of the mixture

0:30:480:30:52

into the muffin cases.

0:30:520:30:54

That's it, Ryan, good job!

0:30:540:30:57

What a great chef!

0:30:570:30:59

And that's it. You made it!

0:31:000:31:03

You put all the ingredients together,

0:31:030:31:06

and all by yourself!

0:31:060:31:08

Well done! Now I need to put the in the oven.

0:31:080:31:11

But remember, ovens are hot, so don't go near.

0:31:140:31:17

Ask a grown-up to help you here.

0:31:170:31:20

# Now we've cooked with you

0:31:220:31:24

# And had lots of fun

0:31:240:31:25

# Let's tidy up and think of

0:31:250:31:27

# All the things that we have done. #

0:31:270:31:30

-There was...

-Cracking!

-Nipping!

-Pouring!

-Mixing!

0:31:300:31:34

# Clearing any mess

0:31:340:31:36

# And putting things away

0:31:360:31:38

# Is always fun to do

0:31:380:31:41

# At the end of the day. #

0:31:410:31:43

And here they are, everyone, your very own seaside bites!

0:31:430:31:47

-And they're all cooked. Let's have a look at yours, Ryan.

-ALL: Wow!

0:31:470:31:54

-Ryan, how have they changed in the oven?

-It's mostly at the top.

0:31:540:31:59

The fish? It's all poking out of the top, isn't it? Say, "Hello!"

0:31:590:32:03

Hello, hello, hello, hello!

0:32:030:32:06

OK, Amber, let's have a look at yours.

0:32:060:32:09

Hey! That looks fantastic!

0:32:090:32:11

Are you pleased?

0:32:110:32:14

What's changed with your seaside bites?

0:32:140:32:16

Different colour, and it's got higher.

0:32:160:32:19

Let's put the lids on and save these for later.

0:32:190:32:22

We've travelled to you, cooked and had fun.

0:32:220:32:25

Now let's have a party with everyone!

0:32:250:32:28

ALL: Yeah!

0:32:280:32:31

Come on, you can come with us! Follow me.

0:32:310:32:34

Well, we're at the harbour,

0:32:370:32:39

and we've got our food to share with everybody.

0:32:390:32:42

-Hey, who's hungry?

-ALL: Me!

0:32:420:32:46

Come on, let's share it with everyone!

0:32:460:32:48

-I made these myself, would you like one?

-Ooh, yes, please.

0:32:480:32:53

Mmm, that's nice!

0:32:590:33:02

Mmm, what do you think of it?

0:33:020:33:05

-Yummy.

-Yummy. Can you taste the chives in it?

0:33:050:33:08

Me too.

0:33:080:33:10

Mmm. They are lovely.

0:33:110:33:14

-So, what did you enjoy the most?

-I liked eating!

0:33:140:33:18

You like eating it? It's very yummy, isn't it? Mmm!

0:33:180:33:21

-These are delicious, aren't they, everyone?

-Yep.

0:33:210:33:25

-So, what can you do, everyone?

-ALL: I can cook!

-With me and...

0:33:250:33:30

ALL: With you!

0:33:300:33:32

And if you'd like to make some seaside bites,

0:33:320:33:35

you can find the recipe on our website.

0:33:350:33:38

-Would you like to come on my boat?

-I'd love to! Shall we go now?

0:33:410:33:45

-Yeah!

-Let's go. Let's put our lifejackets on.

0:33:450:33:49

Ahoy, me hearties!

0:33:490:33:51

Look at Katy and Amber!
