Hey, Lifebabblers. | 0:00:09 | 0:00:10
Today's episode is all about family and dealing with the changes. | 0:00:10 | 0:00:13
Nothing ever stays the same, but sometimes it can be tough | 0:00:13 | 0:00:16
when things change in your life, | 0:00:16 | 0:00:18
especially at home. | 0:00:18 | 0:00:19
So, have you experienced any family changes? | 0:00:19 | 0:00:22
Everyone's is different. | 0:00:26 | 0:00:28
They come in all shapes and sizes. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:30
Sometimes, they get bigger. | 0:00:30 | 0:00:32
Sometimes, they get smaller. | 0:00:32 | 0:00:34
Sometimes, two become one, | 0:00:36 | 0:00:38
and sometimes one becomes two. | 0:00:38 | 0:00:41
New people can arrive, young or old. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:44
Pets can be like family too. | 0:00:44 | 0:00:45
MIAOW! | 0:00:45 | 0:00:47
The only thing you can say about every family | 0:00:47 | 0:00:49
is there's no-one else quite like them. | 0:00:49 | 0:00:52
Change is pretty normal, | 0:00:54 | 0:00:56
but that doesn't mean it's always the easiest thing to deal with. | 0:00:56 | 0:00:59
Recently this year my parents became foster parents | 0:00:59 | 0:01:01
so I now have a new foster sister. | 0:01:01 | 0:01:03
My parents separated, I moved house and country, | 0:01:03 | 0:01:06
and at first it was really difficult. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:08
Having someone else living in the house | 0:01:08 | 0:01:09
did start to worry me a little bit at first. | 0:01:09 | 0:01:12
And there were days where I was really angry and really upset, | 0:01:12 | 0:01:14
and sometimes I was just really nervous because I had no idea | 0:01:14 | 0:01:17
what these new changes were going to bring into my life. | 0:01:17 | 0:01:19
But as time's gone on I've started to get used to it, | 0:01:19 | 0:01:22
and it's just become normal. | 0:01:22 | 0:01:23
Turns out, I worried for nothing. | 0:01:23 | 0:01:25
It brought all these amazing people into my life. | 0:01:25 | 0:01:28
Whether your family is changing or anything else, | 0:01:28 | 0:01:30
it's natural to be nervous. | 0:01:30 | 0:01:31
I guess change isn't really that bad. It's good. | 0:01:31 | 0:01:34
Some things in life, you just can't control. | 0:01:37 | 0:01:40
But it's OK to feel lots of different emotions | 0:01:40 | 0:01:43
when things change at home. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:45
If something new happens in your family, | 0:01:45 | 0:01:47
you might feel confused, or sad. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:50
You might feel excited. | 0:01:50 | 0:01:52
Or you might feel worried and nervous. | 0:01:52 | 0:01:55
Change is a normal part of life. | 0:01:55 | 0:01:57
But if something IS worrying you, don't keep it to yourself. | 0:01:57 | 0:02:01
Talk to a friend or family member, or someone YOU trust, | 0:02:01 | 0:02:05
about how you're feeling. | 0:02:05 | 0:02:07
PHONE RINGS | 0:02:07 | 0:02:08
When I was just six, | 0:02:09 | 0:02:11
my mum and dad separated, | 0:02:11 | 0:02:13
and I was confused | 0:02:13 | 0:02:15
because my dad was moving out of the house. | 0:02:15 | 0:02:17
I got upset, and it felt weird thinking about | 0:02:17 | 0:02:19
my dad not living with us any more. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:22
Going to dance really helped me cope with the change, | 0:02:22 | 0:02:25
with Dad moving away. | 0:02:25 | 0:02:27
I am now used to just seeing him at the weekends. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:31
Now, my mum has a new partner, and I have an older stepsister | 0:02:31 | 0:02:35
who I adore. | 0:02:35 | 0:02:37
Sometimes change, or other pressures, | 0:02:39 | 0:02:41
can cause conflicts or arguments in families, or among adults. | 0:02:41 | 0:02:44
It can be really difficult when people argue at home, | 0:02:44 | 0:02:47
especially parents, | 0:02:47 | 0:02:48
and lots of young people experience it. | 0:02:48 | 0:02:50
You are not in control of how parents act, | 0:02:50 | 0:02:52
and it is not your fault when adults argue. | 0:02:52 | 0:02:54
But always tell someone how you feel, | 0:02:54 | 0:02:57
and remember, in most cases, life is not always going to be like this. | 0:02:57 | 0:03:01
# So something's different | 0:03:07 | 0:03:10
# Not quite the same | 0:03:10 | 0:03:12
# It can be hard at first, but no, it's not the worst | 0:03:13 | 0:03:17
# Even though it'll feel a bit strange | 0:03:17 | 0:03:20
# Change is a normal part of everyday life | 0:03:20 | 0:03:23
# So try to take it in your stride | 0:03:23 | 0:03:26
# Cos something's different | 0:03:26 | 0:03:28
# And you'll be OK. # | 0:03:28 | 0:03:31
