Beneath the American prairies, deep underground,
the Little Prairie Dogs are stirring.
Come on, Little Prairie Dogs, wake up!
It's time to tell a story of life on the prairies.
Today is festival day in Prairie Dog Town.
Everyone is up bright and early and tucking into breakfast.
Snow and his big brother Ashki are very excited.
Ashki, what are you doing?
I'm practising, Snow, for the Prairie Town Festival!
This is the most exciting day of the year!
Come on, I'll show you why!
The whole town is on holiday today.
There's lots of competitions and singing, dancing, running
-Jump-yipping? What's that?
-It's this, Snow!
And look at Mum!
-She's really good!
I want to have a go!
It's not that easy, is it, Ashki?
What do I need to do to be a good jump-yipper?
Well, you have to have a good breakfast to give you energy.
-And you need to reach for the sky!
So, jump and reach for the sky! Got that!
That's not all, Snow!
You need to practise, a lot!
Mum's jump-yipped thousands of times to be as good as she is!
-Wow! That IS a lot!
-If we keep practising, when we're bigger,
we'll be able to enter the Jump Yip Competition!
It's happening later today!
That's what everyone's practising for!
They're all very good!
Look at Uncle Brett, he's amazing!
He'll definitely make it into the competition!
Can we enter, Ashki?
No, Snow, it's just for the adults.
There are lots of other things for us to take part in.
Come on, let's go and see!
Look at him, Ashki! He's singing!
He's warming up for the festival song!
-Shall we join in?
# La-la-la, la-la La-la-la-la
# La, la
# La-la-la-la La-la-la-la
# La-la-la, la-la La-la-la-la
# La-la-la-la-la La-la-la-la
# La-la-la-la La-la-la-la-la
# La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la La-la-la-la. #
SNOW GIGGLES That singing was good fun!
I love the Prairie Town Festival!
What else is happening, Ashki?
We could join in with the Kissing Relay, it's about to start!
-What's the Kissing Relay, Ashki?
-Prairie Dogs kiss every day, Snow,
especially with their family and friends!
It's a fun way of saying hello!
But for the Kissing Relay, we pass the kisses on!
It starts with one prairie dog kissing another.
They pass the kiss to someone else
and they pass it on to someone else
and so it goes on!
It has to come back to the prairie dog who started it. You see?
Well, why don't you start, Ashki?
Ewww! Yuck! Peh! Peh! Ew!
I didn't mean with me!
You have to pass the kiss on!
Not to me, Snow, to someone else!
Who can I find? Hope it's someone I know!
There, there, there!
It's my cousin, I can give the kiss to him!
Here you go...
Keep it going!
Everyone's passing our kisses on, Ashki! Look at them all!
It's great fun!
Oh, look, Granny Barnes has got the kiss!
Give it back to me!
Got it, Granny! Thank you!
I've got a kiss for you!
I did it, Ashki! I'm really good at this Kissing Relay.
-Are there any other games we can play with kissing in them?
-Not now, Snow!
We've got to get back for the Jump Yip Competition!
Come on! We don't want to miss it!
Oh, phew, Ashki! We're just in time!
How DO they judge who's the best, Ashki?
It's whoever jumps the highest,
yips the loudest
and stands up the longest.
Whoa! That's a lot to think about all at once!
That's why it takes so much practice to be the best jump-yipper!
They're just about to start!
Everyone will be getting nervous now!
Who do you think will go first, Ashki?
I don't know, let's wait and see!
Look! It's Granny Barnes!
She's getting up on her stage!
Whoa! She's got a big audience watching her!
-Keep calm, Granny! You can do it!
Snow, she's just about to go!
Wow! That was a brilliant jump!
I wonder what score she'll get from the judge.
She did really well! A seven!
That's a really good score.
It's Uncle Brett!
Remember, we saw him practising.
He's a brilliant jump-yipper!
Go on, Uncle Brett!
TOGETHER: Jump high!
What happened? He didn't jump very high!
Or yip very loudly!
I don't think the judges will give a very good score for that!
He got a five, Snow,
which means Granny Barnes is in the lead!
It's Mum's turn next, she's the last one!
Mum, Mum, Mum!
That's my mum!
TOGETHER: Go on, Mum!
She was amazing, Ashki! She'll definitely get a good score for that.
I hope it's enough to win!
She's got an eight, Snow!
Yay! Mum did it!
She won the Jump Yip Competition!
I can give her a kiss as a congratulations!
Well done, Mum! I knew you'd do it!
You're the best jump-yipper in the whole town!
You must have practised more than Uncle Brett!
I know that Mum's jumped thousands of times to be that good
but one day, when I grow up,
I want to be the best jump-yipper in the town, just like our mum!
Good idea, Snow!
If we both practise really hard,
-we could enter next year's competition!
-We'd better get started!
As Snow and Ashki keep practising, it's time for us to say goodbye
from the North American prairies.
