Thanks for watching! | 0:02:46 | 0:02:47
So, the lesson today that I want to share with you guys | 0:02:55 | 0:02:58
is how to breathe properly when you're singing. | 0:02:58 | 0:03:01
You want to support from a muscle under the lungs called | 0:03:01 | 0:03:04
the diaphragm. | 0:03:04 | 0:03:06
So, it's kind of like in your belly region, | 0:03:06 | 0:03:09
so when you breathe you want to pretend like your stomach is | 0:03:09 | 0:03:13
like a balloon. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:14
So, when you breathe in... | 0:03:14 | 0:03:17
the balloon inflates. | 0:03:17 | 0:03:19
And then, when you breathe out... | 0:03:19 | 0:03:21
it deflates. | 0:03:21 | 0:03:22
So make sure that your stomach area is expanding when you breathe, | 0:03:22 | 0:03:29
not your chest. Make sure your shoulders don't move at all. | 0:03:29 | 0:03:32
-So... -Yeah, and to elaborate on that, | 0:03:32 | 0:03:35
it's really important to use your breath to, you know, | 0:03:35 | 0:03:37
hit high notes or be able to sustain notes. | 0:03:37 | 0:03:40
-Right, like in Take Control... -Yeah, exactly. | 0:03:40 | 0:03:42
..there's a few high notes and some long notes, yeah. | 0:03:42 | 0:03:45
And another really important time to use your breath is right before | 0:03:45 | 0:03:48
you're about to sing, or if you're about to go on stage and take it | 0:03:48 | 0:03:52
away, it's really important to remember to ground yourself | 0:03:52 | 0:03:54
and to use those really deep breathing techniques. | 0:03:54 | 0:03:57
So the reason why we want to breathe from our diaphragm when we sing | 0:03:57 | 0:04:01
is because we want to get that full, powerful voice instead of | 0:04:01 | 0:04:04
a weaker chest-breathing voice. | 0:04:04 | 0:04:07
-So that is our lesson of the day. -Yeah. | 0:04:07 | 0:04:10
-I hope you guys got something out of it. -Yeah, tune back in next time... | 0:04:10 | 0:04:13
-Yeah, for sure. -..for another cool lesson. | 0:04:13 | 0:04:15
-Thanks for watching. -Yeah, thanks. | 0:04:15 | 0:04:17 |
