Welcome, guys. Now it's time to jam out.

Today we're going to sing Dancing In The Light.

We're going to slow it down a little bit,

make it a little bit more soulful,

and kind of show off what we can do as musicians.

Hey, guys.

As you can tell, we were just working out some harmonies.

That's what we're going to do in Lessons In The Lounge today,

is talk a little bit about harmonies

-and how complicated they really are...

-Yeah.

..and how much you really have to listen to your own voice and...

You have to sort of, like, block out the other harmonies

-so that you can find your own note.

-Yeah.

And at the same time you also have

-to hear what everyone else is singing.

-Yeah.

-Yeah.

It was really weird cos when I first started,

like, leaning how to sing harmonies,

I thought that this would be a better idea,

but this actually is such a worse idea.

Cos, yes, you might be blocking out other people's voices

-and hearing your own...

-You have no idea what's going on.

..but you can't hear what everybody else is doing,

which is so important. So it, obviously,

did not end up working in my favour.

How do we do harmonies?

Well, most harmonies are in either thirds or fifths, so...

SHE PLAYS C

If we're in C,

this is a third...

PLAYS C AND E

..and then this is a fifth.

PLAYS C AND G

And if you're building a chord,

like when you're playing the piano or if you're on the guitar,

or doing a three-part harmony, you put all three of them in.

-So there's your C...

-..and your third and your fifth.

So it sounds like...

-Nice.

Doing three-part harmony, it's kind of cool,

because it's kind of like strumming a chord...

Yeah, or playing the piano with your voice.

-Yeah, whoa!

-It's really... Voices are incredible.

And you can figure it out by, if you have a keyboard...

If you can just pick some notes out on the piano it's...
