So that's why I LOVE to cook up a storm.

'and super fashionable here in California.'

They say that people of Los Angeles

are some of the best-dressed in the world.

'And my sisters want to join them.

'They're mad about fashion.

You'll probably pick out, like...

a bright pink...shirt

and some bright green shorts.

But, luckily, in this city, anything goes.

But the question is...

'As it's Elspeth's last day,

-'the girls are hitting the shops.'

'They're meeting up with Justina.

'She's one of the hottest teenage fashion bloggers in America

'and she's agreed to show them what's cool in LA.'

ALL: Hi.

'First up they're going for a hair makeover.'

This summer, everybody here is rocking the French braids

because they're a really fun and edgy way

to get your hair out of your face.

And a great way to throw some colour into your braids

-is to do extensions.

-Extensions?

'That's nearly 3,500 computers in a row.

'Hopefully the girls won't go that long!

'While they get the perfect LA look,

'it's time for me to make some perfect LA street food.'

'Oodles of noodles is what we like in this house.'

'This is my chicken noodle salad.'

'First, I'm preparing the chicken.

'Remember to wash your hands before AND after touching raw meat.'

And after, you must clean the chopping board, as well.

'Marinate in soy sauce and hoisin sauce.

'Every piece needs to be coated.'

Now I'm covered in chicken and sauce.

'Leave that to marinate -

'anything from ten minutes to overnight in the fridge.

'Then get your cooked noodles.'

In goes some carrot, lettuce...

'Add radish, cucumber, pepper and coriander...'

It's quite strange, cos the Americans call it "cilantro"

and we call it "coriander".

-AMERICAN ACCENT:

-Cilantro.

'Next, more herbs.

'This is really easy.

'It's just all your favourite vegetables mixed up.'

Wow, the colours are starting to look amazing.

'Across town, the girls are right on trend with their LA braids.'

-What do you think?

It's really cool.

It's like I have racing stripes attached to my head.

'And when you look this good, there's only one thing to do...

'Snap it!

'I can't wait to see their LA look later.

'Now to finish my chicken noodle salad.'

I can hear the chicken starting to sizzle.

'While that cooks, I'll dress the salad.

'I'm using a dressing made from olive oil, lime juice and spices.'

It'll make it all zingy and nice and delicious.

'Add sesame seeds to the chicken...

'..then put it on the salad.'

But, oh, this bit won't fit on...

'My chicken noodle salad was quick, easy

'and it's super colourful.

'Perfect LA street food.

'Across town, the girls have the hair.

'Now they're hitting a cool retro shop to find the clothes.

'and home of the most expensive red-carpet outfits.'

I'm loving this.

'Back at the house, I'm TRYING to get on with my next dish.'

I think these are, just maybe,

the best dumplings in the entire city.

Dad thinks his are the best, but mine are the business!

'Dumplings are basically just little parcels of yumminess.

'I'm using ready-made dumpling wrappers.

'You can get them at oriental supermarkets.'

First you get the rolling pin to make it a bit thinner.

You get your mix... 'I made this earlier.

'It's just fried vegetables, spices and sauce.'

A tiny bit of water, so it doesn't get too wet.

And now just folding over the dumpling,

squeeze it together - a bit like a clamp.

And that is a perfect dumpling.

'I'm putting a wooden steamer in a pan of boiling water

'to heat while I'm making the rest of the dumplings.

-'Oh, no!'

-Well, that smells nice.

Daddy, there's nothing in there. It doesn't smell of anything.

-The smell of bamboo!

-'Dad loves dumplings!'

-Smell bamboo?

-'He just can't stay away...'
