I love cooking.

They smell amazing.

My dad's a chef,

but I think I'm already better than him.

She is determined to be the greatest fashion designer of her generation.

Dad, even though he's hard on the outside,

he's soft and mushy on the inside,

and he's quite a good cook too.

Eh, excuse me? How about very?

When you're the youngest, you have to fight to get noticed,

so that's why I love to...

This summer,

the whole Ramsay Bunch are spending our holidays in Los Angeles.

Holly's got her best friend Elspeth here too.

America is an incredible country,

where everything is big, bright and brilliant.

While I'm here, I'm making some amazing food...

It was really, really good.

..and I'm sharing it with my friends and everyone back home

by putting some of the food I make on my blog.

Today, you'll get my clam bake,

my herby garlic bread

and my sensational s'mores,

and this food is extra special

because I'm making it all at the beach.

I think the beaches around Los Angeles

are some of the best in the world.

My whole family loves the beach, but for different reasons.

It's always Jack and I who end up playing.

Jack is really annoying at the beach.

Well, he's annoying all the time.

My sisters and my mum just love lazing around in the sun.

Dad works really hard,

but he always fits in time to come to the beach and relax.

Oh, my God.

But the best thing is that we all get to be together.

Daddy, stop.

So the big question is...

Till, come on, we're starving. You better get cooking.

Remember, barbecues get very hot,

so even if you are an expert in the kitchen,

you'll need a grown-up there to help you.

While I get set up, Jack's off to play with some cool tech stuff

as we're all going surfing later.

I'm going to get a camera for my board so people can watch me surfing.

He's such a show off.

We're out at Malibu beach.

Malibu is the home of surfing here in California,

so Jack's in the right place.

I've got this camera. Is there any way I could get this on my board

so I can show my friends me surfing?

For sure.

-See, that's your board right there, right?

-Yeah.

All right, I'll meet you around the corner.

The world record for the longest ever surf ride

was three hours and 55 minutes,

I can't wait to see how long Jack will last.

While he takes his board to the workshop to get the camera fitted,

it's time for me to get cooking...

and I'm going to make one of my all time favourite things.

I could live off of herby garlic bread, I love it so much,

and it'll be perfect for soaking up the juices from my beach clam bake.

First, I'm going to start with making the garlic butter.

Holly, do you like garlic bread?

Megan?

So I think everyone likes it.

Crush the garlic into the butter.

I'm using a couple of cloves, but you can use more or less.

It depends on how garlicky you like it.

Add parsley.

It smells like grass.

This is so easy, just put it all in a bowl and mix it up...

I really like it herby.

..slice the bread...

You don't want them to be too thick.

..and pack the mixture in.

Mmm, it tastes good. It's really nice and fresh.

That's great. It's got a lot of garlic butter inside,

it's going to be so good.

Pop it on the barbecue or in the oven to cook,

and that gives me a chance to wash my hands, beach-style.

Jack is going to love my garlic bread.

He's at the surf workshop getting a camera fitted to his surfboard.

I'll get on the nose, so you can get that POV of you.

The first official records of surfing were made

when explorers landed in Hawaii in the late 1700s,

so it's been around for years.

How is the surf looking today?

It'll be a good day for you to get out there.

See a shark or something.

Hopefully not.

But the sport of surfing, as we know it today,

began with the first official surfing competition,

right here in California, in 1928.

I'm very pleased with the mount

and I hope I get some good shots with them,

and I can show my friends at home.

All I need now is to go surfing.

I can't wait to surf with Jack and the family later,

but first I have a beach feast to make.

That garlic bread's going to be great now

and it will keep warm in its tinfoil.

Now it's time to make my beach clam bake.

A clam bake is basically a party in a pot.

Everything cooks together,

which makes sense when you're having a barbecue outside.

Heat up your pan, add oil,

onions and sausage.

Clam bakes are quite a big thing in America, especially by the sea.

Add celery, pepper...

Mmm, I love pepper.

..and garlic.

Give it a big stir and let them cook until they're soft.

Next, add some bay leaves and white wine vinegar...

It smells really vinegary.

..then vegetables stock, corn on the cob and potatoes.

I do like corn on the cob, but I can't really have it with my braces.

Unlucky. I'll eat it for you.

Then put the lid on and leave it to cook for about...

I'll add the final ingredients later. And remember, if you want to

cook on the beach, check with the beach police that you're allowed.

Everyone's going to have a big appetite for my barbecue,

especially Jack.

-So, how have you guys been?

-Yeah, Tilly's been cooking away.

-No way, I'm hungry!

And while my clam bake cooks, I get to play with my big brother.

Tilly and I are the same when it comes to the beach.

It's always Jack and I who end up playing.

My sisters just laze on the beach.

They never want to get their hair dirty,

like Holly said this morning, "Oh, this beach is too sandy!"

It is really sandy.

It just gets annoying when you've, like, just put on sun cream.

Holly's always got to look perfect.

Holly, stop looking at yourself in the mirror.

She might be vain but, like the rest of us, Holly loves food too

and she's going to love my clam bake.

It's almost done, just two more ingredients - the clams and shrimp.

Eugh, what are they?

Have you never seen a shrimp?

"Hello, Megan. Hello!"

In the UK, we call shrimps prawns.

I knew there was something fishy going on!

Back to my food.

Because of the shells, it might look like I found

the clams on the beach, but actually I got them from a fishmonger.

-How do you know when they're cooked?

-Because they start to open.

Jack's just as annoying as Dad.

They're all in now. I'm going to put the lid on to cook

until the clams are open and the shrimps are pink.

-Mum and Dad are here!

Dad's such a chef, he always wants to try everything.

-Clam bake...

-Wow, that looks nice.

That always happens with dad, it's really irritating.

I don't really get nervous cooking for Dad.

The food is ready and it looks a-mazing!

I'm cooking dessert later, so it's time to serve up.

I'm so excited about eating on the beach, it's such a treat.

Dad, I'm surprised there's garlic bread left.

Tilly, it's absolutely delicious.

I mean, Jack's gone silent for five minutes.

I love the corn in there as well, Till.

I like the sausage in there as well, and the prawns are really tasty.

Yeah, the sausage for me made it cos it made it a little bit,

sort of, spicy. Really good.

I've come back for seconds on sausages, it's so good.

It was really, really good.

I think it's definitely one of the best.

I love the way that the bread just disintegrates into there

and gives that nice garlic in there.

Tilly, can I declare something

in the Ramsay household?

Your cooking is now better than Mummy's.

Hmm, awkward!

The outdoor food is a hit and my super special dessert

is going to be the perfect end to my beach barbecue.

I don't know how we never thought of this in Britain.

Sandwiching biscuits, chocolate and marshmallows together.

In America, they call them s'mores and they're really popular.

It's genius.

First, toast the marshmallow.

Smile for Daddy!

Don't burn my marshmallow too much, please,

just lightly caramelised.

Then squash it in-between two biscuits.

The classic s'mores is chocolate, marshmallow and biscuit,

but I'm trying something different today.

As a surprise, I'm going to put bacon in Dad's.

They love bacon on their s'mores here in America.

Have you put bacon in there?

-Yeah, Dad.

-Oh, no.

Me, my brother and sisters love making these

because we can all do it together.

How is it, Dad?

I don't like the bacon.

Not bacon and chocolate, honestly.

-I'm making yours.

-OK.

-How do you like it?

I might try a bit of chocolate spread on mine, you know.

The s'mores were really good, they were cooked really well,

and the chocolate went really well with the biscuit.

-Wow. It's good!

My beach barbecue is a big success and, after great food,

our family's surf lesson will be the icing on the cake.

Oh, you've got the cat going!

You want to make sure that you get your arm all the way

into the water and pull all the way throughout the back.

The next thing you want to do is put your hands in

the push-up position, which is directly next to your chest.

The most difficult is probably once they get up,

is actually maintaining their balance and keeping going.

Let go of the rails, and you stand up slowly.

There you go. Perfect.

They've just got to focus, make sure they're stable

-and then they're good to go.

-Are there seals?

Dolphins, seals and sharks,

-literally two minutes ago.

-Oh, no, I don't want to do it any more.

I just reckon Daddy's not very good at surfing.

My surfing days are over.

And, as usual, in our family it's very competitive.

I like cooking and surfboarding

both the same.

Dad might not be able to take me on in the water,

but he's taught me loads in the kitchen,

and I love our foodie chats at the end of the day.

The best thing to do on the beach is...

Surfing and cooking.

..eat a delicious stew.

The secret of that stew, do you know what it was for me?

-Yeah?

-It was that delicious sausage in there,

-so you're giving it a, sort of, spice.

-Ah, thanks very much.

The thing that made it even more delicious was that garlic bread.

Yeah, it was fab!

Very good indeed. I'm amazed we got something so delicious on a beach.

And as for the s'mores...

That toasted marshmallow, do we have a dessert like that in England,

-toasted marshmallow?

-Not really, no.
