But I've taken over the kitchen in this house.

We're in LA, on the amazing Californian coast,

where I'm cooking up a storm...

Mmm!

..and writing my food blog.

The whole Ramsay bunch are totally, totally crazy about animals,

and in California the wildlife is brilliant.

But the Californian sea lions are in real trouble.

A lot of pups are dying because of especially warm waters this year.

So the big question is...

We're off to the Californian Wildlife Center,

that rescues animals.

Ooh, dropping off an animal...

-Come on, then, Jack.

-Eurgh!

I'm so excited to go.

First up, we're meeting the sea lions.

I hope we get to feed them.

-Hey, guys!

Ready to see some sea lions today?

-ALL:

-Yeah!

-So excited.

All right. Let's go.

As well as visiting the sick sea lions,

I'm going to be making some super special cakes

and an absolutely delicious treat...

Eurgh!

..for sea lions.

Pick out a pair of these. Find ones that fit you.

I'm very jealous of that pink jumpsuit, over there.

We look a bit stupid, but definitely professional.

And so these are the three sea lion patients we're going to be

working with today.

Look at the eyes!

The biggest one's called El Jefe - that means "the boss".

He's got a chest infection.

Are any of them injured when you get them?

-They can have shark bites.

-Shark bites?

Sometimes a wave could crash them into rocks

and they'll get cuts on them.

The centre rescues up to 50 seals and sea lions every month,

makes them better, then releases them back into the wild.

They are really cute!

-I want one as a pet!

-Let's ask Mum.

Do you guys know how to tell the difference

-between a seal and a sea lion?

-No.

-No idea.

Look on the side of their heads.

If you see ear flaps, that always means it's a sea lion.

If they just have a round head with no ear flaps, it's a seal.

Aur! Aur! Aur!

One of the most important things

is to make sure the sea lions feed properly.

I feel like a dentist.

They're going to get 1.75 lbs of herring for breakfast.

Come on, Ramsay wildlife team!

-Brrrrrr!

-Stop!

As well as feeding them up to get healthy,

these three sea lions are on special medicine -

one super-strength vitamin pill each -

so we hide them in the gills of the fish.

-POP!

-Ew, something popped!

Yay!

First, each sea lion gets his vit-fish,

then it's a full-on fishy feast!

Come and get it!

Whoa!

This is so fun.

That was so cool. I loved it. I want one, but I'm not allowed.

All right, so I need to make some fish gruel.

Who wants to help me with that?

This is going to be great - cooking for sea lions!

They've even got their own kitchen!

Four pounds herring - no heads, no tails.

So you're going to put all the heads and tails in this,

and then you're going to put just the bodies in here.

I've cooked loads of different recipes,

but I don't think I've ever done one for an animal.

This fish gruel is for the sea lions when they first come in

and they're too sick to eat whole fish.

Where do the sea lions go to see movies?

Where do sea lions...? I don't know.

Next, we put all the ingredients that will make the sea lions

well again into a blender...

Here goes my first sea lion recipe.

..add the herring and blitz.

This is like a fish smoothie!

Oh! It's splashing!

Sorry.

-Eurgh...

-Mmm...

Why don't you just smell it - tell me what it smells like?

-Like fish.

I'm not too sure how much my dad would like this.

I don't think he would be serving this anywhere.

Yeah, I know this might be quite good for the sea lions,

-but I think I'm going to taste it.

-Eurgh!

No, you don't want to do that!

I'm joking!

It's not just sea lions that get help here.

The centre rescues 300 Californian birds and animals every month.

This pen, to the right - these are all crow pens.

This pen, over here, that we're going to feed are ravens.

So we're going in the ravens' hut. I'm so excited!

Warning! Shut your eyes if you're squeamish!

If you guys want, you can take some of this

and sprinkle it around on the ground.

OMG! Dead mice!

That's the grossest lunch I've ever seen!

This is so disgusting with all the dead mice.

Jack looks like he's having a fun time.

Feeding session number one!

The next guys we're going to feed are our skunks.

You can see their diet is like some mice, dog food, fruits,

vegetables and then whatever seasonal produce...

So, today, it's blueberries, grapes...

They make really bad smells, don't they?

Yes. And I got sprayed in the face, and it burns!

That's how skunks defend themselves when they're scared -

with a super smelly poison, shot from a gland in their bums!

Guys, why don't we do something for this place?

Bake sale!

-Awesome.

To pull this off, we're heading to Malibu Pier

where there'll be loads of potential customers,

and we're roping in our friends, Mia and Cozzy, to help.

The guys are designing the cake stall.

-I nominate you as sandwich board.

-Awesome.

I want to draw a seal.

Lots of glitter, so that everyone's attracted to it.

And I'm in charge of baking the cakes to raise money.

Why cook boring biscuits when you can make brilliant ones instead,

especially if you need to make an impression?

These are my SOS - save our sea lions - biscuits.

These biscuits are so easy.

First, I'm going to add in the butter.

Start by making a really simple dough.

Add in some sugar.

Add one egg yolk.

To get just the egg yolk, you just flip the egg from side to side.

In America, they call biscuits "cookies".

Add flour, and mix together to form the dough.

Splash of the vanilla extract.

This just makes them taste a little bit better.

It does taste good - that's for sure.

I'm now just going to wrap it in clingfilm,

and then chill it in the ice bucket for about 30 minutes.

Guys, go bright, bold - about a million colours!

Holly, you do, like, the main board that, like, shows what we're doing.

They're going to have to do a great job, because we want to sell loads!

Back to my SOS biscuits.

Roll out the chilled dough to cut out your shapes.

Instead of using flour, I'm going to use icing sugar

to stop it from sticking.

Don't think it likes me.

So, here, I've got a cookie cutter in the shape of a sea lion.

That's so good.

I definitely think these are going to sell.

I've got a really good joke.

Why are oysters less generous that sea lions?

Because they're "shellfish".

The cafe has let me use their oven.

Bake for 10-12 minutes.

This is my "Advertising Jack" coming out, right now.

So, I'm just making a sign to appeal to

the general Los Angeles public,

to save our seals.

Bright colours. You need to get the eye of the people.

And not too many words - it needs to be short...

As Dad says, "short, sharp and attention grabbing".

Yes!

Time to dress the sea lions.

I don't really have a technique with decorating -

I just do what I feel like, to be honest.

I'm trying to make them as mad as possible,

so they get as much attention as they can,

and then, hopefully, more people would buy them.

I'm using sprinkles and different coloured squirty icing.

Better just test this.

That tastes so good!

These are going to look great on my blog.

As I cook up more biscuits, the guys are doing an amazing job,

and Advertising Jack's loving it!

"Why take 25 seals when you can save 150?

"You can do this by buying some of our delicious baked goods.

"In doing so, you will be donating to the California Wildlife Center.

"That gets my seal of approval!"

Next up for the bake sale,

I'm making doughnuts with a healthy twist.

My Rescue Rings are round like doughnuts

but super healthy and super delicious,

so I think people are going to buy loads of them.

Well, I hope so.

They're probably the easiest thing ever!

Core and slice apples into rings.

Just like doughnuts.

Mmm!

Keep that there for later...

I'm going to put some peanut butter on the first one,

and then I'm going to add on some yoghurty raisins.

Mmm. They taste good.

Freeze-dried strawberries.

Wow, these are very colourful.

First one done.

I'm doing lots of different toppings.

So now I'm going to add on some chocolate spread.

On top of this I'm going to put some pistachios,

and maybe some almonds.

Uh-oh!

I think the messiest chef in my house is probably me.

Add on some dried blueberries.

These are healthy.

Well, they're really starting to look good.

I'm going to try and make it as bright and colourful as possible.

And as delicious, of course.

So I think I'm going to put as much as I can on this one.

Mmm-mmm. Delicious!

I'm sure these are going to sell brilliantly, cos they look amazing.

The Pier's getting busy so we've got to get a move on.

Mia and I are decorating the box where we should, hopefully,

get all our money in.

Tilly's an excellent chef

and I'm sure her cookies are going to be great,

and everyone will love them so they'll keep buying more.

They guys are nearly done,

and I'm finishing off cooking for the sale.

finish writing SOS - save our sea lions.

It's been brilliant,

and just shows that, if you care about something,

I love talking to Dad about food.

Today we've made loads of different recipes,

and visited the sea lions which was really fun.

And then that had fruit on the top and some, like, yoghurt...

And then we did have unhealthy doughnuts,

-which had a little seal head popping out.

-Oh, really?

Excellent. Oh, wow.

-And I saw some dolphins, earlier...

-Yeah.

..and they were literally just about 150 metres out there.

How cool is that?
