At seven o'clock, I dropped off Jack at Granny Murray's.

I told her about the roadworks.

The children dressed up Claude as a road-digger.

At eight o'clock, I got to work, and could hear lots of drilling.

Tina called by and asked me to find her some boxes.

She wanted to make ice cream trays using scarves from the costume box.

At nine o'clock, the drilling got closer.

At ten o'clock, The Ferryboat Band passed by.

They were busking, trying to raise money for a telly at the hospital.

They tried to play a song, but it was drowned out by the drilling nearby.

Then, at one o'clock, Doc Juno dropped by.

She asked about the Ferryboat Band,

but the drilling was so loud we could hardly hear each other.

Then the road-diggers started to drill right by my stall.

It was impossible to hear anything. Now I don't have any customers!

Now, remember, if it's too noisy in the kitchen...

He was given ear defenders because of all the noise outside.

I took Jack and the others to find some roadworks.

We were hole inspectors, with our hands over our ears.

A bit further on, we discovered more roadworks.

This time, there were really big holes in the road.

Then the road drill started rattling again. Oh, what a racket!

It must have been the same for Rudi.

Till he remembered that if it's too noisy in the kitchen,

you move into the sitting room.

Me and Jack made pretend holes back in the flat,

and we used the spades as road drills.

Oh! Peace at last!
