Episode 4 Meet the Kittens

ALL THE KITTENS MEOW TOGETHER

Mew, mew.

The last time we saw them, the 11

kittens were just learning how to walk.

But look at them now! They're moving

around like Usain Bolt.

Well... Usain Bolt with a broken leg.

What are all those towels for? I can't imagine

every kitten in this house is going to get wet!

Oh, you just wait and see.

The kittens are excited by everything that's going on.

And it looks like someone's put the tennis on the telly.

Come on, Andy Murray.

Come on, Andy Murray.

Only 26 more to go before I get upstairs.

THE KITTEN GROANS AND STRUGGLES

Now I'm here, I've forgotten what I came up the stairs for.

Got you. It's bath time.

One down, ten to go.

Hey, I'm going to jump!

Yay! Whoops.

Epic fail!

Uh-oh! This doesn't look good.

One of the mums, Coco, has been outside investigating.

There are cables everywhere and strangers in the house.

There's been a leak.

Water is coming in through a hole in the roof, so

Coco tells the other mum, Cleo,

the kittens will have to be moved back to their old place.

Carrying 11 kittens downstairs was exhausting.

They're now curled up asleep with their mums.

Except these two. And if they're not sleepy, they must be hungry.

Yep. Thought so.

Mind you, feeding a kid isn't going to

stop Cleo getting some sleep.

But when the kittens wake up,

they're going to discover

a whole new playground.

They've got things to crawl under.

-A scratching post.

-We don't need a scratching post!

That's what the furniture is for... and the owner's arms.

Oh, well, I'll give it a go.

There's also a bucket.

That'll be handy for the leak.

I'm not going down that!

I'm a kitten, not a slinky.

Going up isn't much easier.

How many more of these are there?

There are things to bite.

That's a bit hard when you've got brand-new teeth.

I'll think I'll look for something easier to chew.

I wonder what this round tube's called?

And there's even a round tube.

Oh, a round tube...

This is my favourite. What's this one called?

That's the laundry basket.

-That's where they put clothes that need cleaning.

-I'm out of here.

I don't want to go in the washing machine.

Leaving the kittens to play, mums Coco and Cleo take

a walk in the garden.

Being busy mums, they don't get out much nowadays.

I've been waiting ages for that deer to run

-away so I can chase after it.

-As I said, they

really don't get out much.

There's just time for a clean before they go back inside.

Mmm. That's nice.

Don't forget my armpits!

Meanwhile, back indoors,

the kittens are about to learn a new game.

Play fighting.

Come on! Who wants some?

It looks like they're hurting each

-other, but they aren't.

-What's your beef?

Well, most of the time, they're not.

I'll bet the mice will love it

when we start playing with them like this!

They aren't just playing. They're also learning.

They try not to hurt as they use their claws to practise

hunting and catching!

-Skills they'll need as adult cats.

-We're pet cats!

The only real skill we'll need is opening tins!

Meow!

I'll practice on him! Hee-yah!

As well sharp claws, their teeth have

started to come through.

Less fighting, more playing.

The next morning, the owner has

discovered fleas on mum, Cleo.

That lump, right up there on her ear

is a horrible flea.

-FLEA:

-Yippee! I'm on telly

and who are you calling horrible?

Fleas spread disease

so the owner must act straight away.

He puts on gloves and

treats Cleo with a special spray

that's safe for cats and kittens,

but will get rid of the fleas.

Much more of this and I'll be gone as well.

The spray makes Cleo wet,

which she doesn't like.

That is an understatement.

Ha-ha! Mum's all wet!

And to make sure the fleas don't spread,

everyone must be sprayed.

I should have kept my mouth shut.

I can't believe it.

Every single cat in this house has got wet.

It's a good job the owner's got a lot of towels.

Everyone gets done,

including mum, Coco.

Everyone's clean now and

surprise, surprise...

they've all gone back to sleep.

Kittens have bursts of energy, but then they sleep for ages.

They're only awake for about four hours a day.

Only four hours?

Four hours seems like...

forever.

Aww, cute.

That one has to go online.

KITTENS SNORE

I wonder if they will sleep less grow up into adults?

I doubt it!

I doubt it, very much!
