Episode 8 Meet the Kittens

MEOW!

CATS MEOW

Remember this? Yes, it's the litter tray.

The kittens have to learn to use this, as they are not allowed

outside yet and, if a kitten, or even a cat, can't go outside,

this is their toilet.

It's taken a little time

but the kittens have learnt from their mothers.

Oh, I should have learnt this earlier!

Out the way, I need a poo!

Oooh, look at me.

Cats are very clean animals and, once they've done a poo,

they cover it up so that it's hidden and it doesn't smell.

They know how to do this without being told.

Oh, my Goodness!

What's all that?

It's a big climbing frame for all the kittens to play on.

There are three different levels and lots of toys to keep them interested

and excited, and exercising their tiny bodies to help them grow.

And there's a new roly-poly tunnel thing.

Oh, what's going on here? Someone's trapped inside.

Phew, she's out.

Look how much fun they're having.

And all the time learning how to hunt and chase

and to use their claws.

But you don't need a big cat climbing frame

if you haven't got room.

Kittens can play with anything.

The edge of a rug, for example.

A paper bag.

Some scrunched-up paper.

You could even pull a shoelace under a rug

and see what the kittens will do.

How about playing in a sandal? Hey, don't chew that!

And, if you have more than one kitten,

they'll happily play together.

But hang on, what's going on over here?

Whoa! Who's that?

The kittens are watching themselves in a mirror.

They're trying to figure it out.

How come there are four of us, when really there's only two?

Don't know. It's magic.

Oi! Stop copying everything I do.

Well, me and my friend are going to play with these balls together.

Mum Cleo comes in to see what all the fuss is about.

Oh, it's the old mirror trick.

They did this to me when I were a kitten.

Hang on, I think it's a joke. Oh, there's no-one behind here.

I don't like the look of hi... Oh, you're right.

Ooh, I think it's me!

Problem solved. Let's go and play somewhere else.

Oh, you go and play. I need to cool off.

A fan is just one of the many things in the home the kittens

are going to have to get used to.

There will be noises like... a slamming door.

There'll be strange sounds when you turn on the TV.

Or what about a kettle boiling?

Or a funny doorbell sound.

There might even be strange sights, like fish in a tank.

Hey! That's enough talk when we're trying to get some sleep.

Oh, it's very hard to get to sleep with all of these noises

and chat going on.

WHISPERS: Oh, sorry.

Well, the fish are still awake

but, gradually, everyone does get to sleep.

It's been a fun day and the kittens will sleep for a good, long time.

Ahh, they deserve it. Sweet dreams, kittens.
