Episode 2 Meet the Pups

Today, on Meet The Pups... Sorry...

-HE WHISPERS:

-Today, on Meet The Pups,

our newborn doglets have already

miraculously transformed into

perfect little snoozing machines.

They're now 14 days old, and at this stage in their development,

they really need to spend at least 12 hours a day asleep,

although this litter often sleep

for up to 20 hours a day!

-HE YAWNS

-I could do with that myself!

I wonder what they're dreaming of!

Chasing squirrels up trees,

playing in the park,

long walks in the countryside,

singing on stage with Justin Bieber?

Dogs DO have nightmares, you know!

One thing's for sure, though, Bonzo, Biscuit and Betsy

can't be dreaming about things they've already seen,

because their eyes haven't opened yet.

Apart from sleeping,

the pups' other main activity is feeding.

Immediately after birth,

like some sort of milky miracle,

Lola starts producing,

well, milk for the puppies.

The owners have to keep a careful eye on the pups

to make sure that each of them is getting enough.

If she doesn't do it, the wee could build up inside them

But Morgan hasn't been allowed to meet the pups yet,

in case he gets too rough with them.

Ah, Morgan, there you are.

Are you having fun?

-Not really.

-What's the problem?

My ball seems to have died.

Perhaps you're just feeling a bit left out, are you?

No. It's definitely dead, look. Nothing.

Oh, Morgan, come on. Come inside.

It's over. The ball has lost the will to play on.

The ball's not dead, you idiot,

but you will be... Inside, now!

At two weeks old,

the owners now feel it is OK

for Morgan to take a sneak peek at his puppies.

Lola leads the way,

and Morgan follows behind.

It's a worrying moment.

How will he react to the pups?

Bonzo, ever the inquisitive one,

senses someone is there.

Eyes still closed,

he sniffs the air.

Morgan sizes up his trembling offspring.

But what will he do next?

Lola seems wary.

Oh, no, no... I wasn't...

Oh, OK, I'll go outside again.

Lola, that seemed a bit unfair.

I'm sorry, I thought he might try and bounce Bonzo.

I think Lola's natural instincts

mean that Morgan won't be around to witness this.

We've been watching for hours.

I think the pups are about to open their eyes.

That's it, go on. Push.

Push those eyelids up.

Oh... They've done it.

That's amazing.

I wonder what they'll make of their new world!

The green, green grass of home.

Oh, no. Actually, that's... It's a cardboard box and a carpet.

Never mind! It's going to be pretty awesome for those pups.

Even if it is seeing...

pot plants for the first time.

As a mum, though, Lola wants to show them everything!

Hello, Biscuit. Hello, Bonzo.

I can't wait to tell you all about the outside world.

There's places to walk,

other dogs to meet and play with...

Oh.

Oh, you're asleep.

OK. It can wait.

Oh, look. It's snowing.

I wonder if they'll like playing in the snow?

I bet Bonzo will.

He'll be just like his dad -

chasing snowballs, peeing up snowmen.

Your dad always does that, you know.

Oh, well. Night-night, sleep tight.
