We're making butterflies.

It's really fun.

You love butterflies, don't you?

Mum folds the paper.

Give it a really good press. That's it. Lovely.

-SHE BANGS TABLE

-Oh, yes.

And then we're going to draw a butterfly.

And we draw one big, swirly butterfly wing.

Then we've got the little tail at the bottom.

Then we cut them out very carefully

because scissors are sharp.

-SHE GIGGLES

-There we go.

Come on, Mum! You're too slow.

Very careful, very delicate.

And...there we go.

Look what happens when we open it.

I can see the shape of its fluttery wings.

What colours would you like?

-Pink.

-Give it a good squeeze.

What sound does that make?

I like the pink paint!

Oohh, lovely.

We fold over the paper and squish it down.

Really push it.

You've got to really flatten it down.

BOTH: One, two, three...

SHE GASPS

-It's looking really good, are you pleased?

-Yes.

Next we have a tearing competition

and tear up the tissue paper to make the butterfly colourful.

I love the scrunchy, crunchy sound it makes.

My favourite are the pink and green ones.

-This, your favourite bit?

-Yeah.

Now Mum puts on the sticky glue. Splodge, splodge, splodge.

-And then we can do two up there for the eyes.

-What colour eyes?

-Pink.

-One pink.

-And one green.

-And one green.

I want to make my butterfly really pretty.

All the other butterflies are going to think,

-"Oh, I wish I was as colourful as him."

-Yeah.

And then... Ta-da! A butterfly!

-Finished!

-Beautiful.

My butterfly is like the real ones that fly in my garden.

They love flowers too.

-When it gets there, have a little...

-Drink.

-Little drink.

I ask Mum where real butterflies go when they dance away from the garden.

Oh, I don't know.

But I have got a piece of music that makes me think about butterflies.

-Would you like to hear it?

-Yes, please!

Me and Fudge are playing chase.

Running through lots of flowers.

CAT MEOWS

Look! A pretty butterfly!

Her friend comes!

And they dance for us.

But then they dance away.

Where are they going?

Come on, Fudge, let's find out.

Suddenly the butterflies stop and start to dance.

SHE GASPS It's the Butterfly Ball!

So that's where they go.

CAT MEOWS

Look, more animals!

FROG CROAKS AND FUDGE WHIMPERS

And Fudge makes a new friend.

Mum asks why I'm smiling so much?

She says she's got a surprise for me.

I'm so excited!

It's a butterfly mobile and it makes a dancing sound

just like the music.

That music made me think of butterflies.
