And we show you how to make your own pet sock-o-dile. | 0:00:57 | 0:01:01
We find out how to make a funny apple surprise in just one minute. | 0:01:01 | 0:01:06
But first, we go wild with a safari silhouette picture in South Africa. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:10
Wow! | 0:01:10 | 0:01:13 | |
Let's have a look where we are. | 0:01:13 | 0:01:17
We're in South Africa! | 0:01:17 | 0:01:19
And we're on safari. Oh, how exciting! | 0:01:19 | 0:01:23
Let's see if we can make some new animal friends. | 0:01:23 | 0:01:27
There are so many brilliant animals in South Africa, | 0:01:30 | 0:01:34
and they are all different shapes. | 0:01:34 | 0:01:37
And sizes. | 0:01:37 | 0:01:38
Wow, look! A giraffe! | 0:01:40 | 0:01:43
Ho-ho! She's almost as tall as me. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:46
Oh, seeing that terrific, tall giraffe has given me a great idea. | 0:01:46 | 0:01:52
Let's try something. | 0:01:52 | 0:01:54
Try making a super safari silhouette picture for a great effect. | 0:01:54 | 0:02:00
Let's make it! | 0:02:00 | 0:02:02
We'll need a Mini Maker help us. Let's if there's one nearby. | 0:02:02 | 0:02:08
Hello, Mini Makers. Now, who's going to help me today? | 0:02:08 | 0:02:11
Hi, Mister Maker, I'm Luca. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:13
-Hello, Luca. -I can help you. | 0:02:13 | 0:02:15
Oh, that's great news. Thanks, everyone else, we'll see you soon. | 0:02:15 | 0:02:19
Oh, great, Luca is on his way to help us make our picture. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:24
But first, we'll need somewhere to make it. | 0:02:24 | 0:02:28
Excellent, the Marvellous Maker Case has become a marvellous | 0:02:32 | 0:02:37
making table. | 0:02:37 | 0:02:38
Now we just need some arty things to make our picture. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:42
We'll need... | 0:02:42 | 0:02:43
Some paper or card. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:46
A pen. | 0:02:50 | 0:02:51 | |
Some scissors. | 0:02:56 | 0:02:58
And last but not least, of course... | 0:03:00 | 0:03:03
We'll need my teddy bear, Maker Bear. | 0:03:03 | 0:03:06
Wait a minute, | 0:03:09 | 0:03:11
we don't need my teddy bear. | 0:03:11 | 0:03:14
Scrappz, I knew it was you. How did you get here? | 0:03:14 | 0:03:17
I don't really know how. | 0:03:17 | 0:03:19
Oh, I see. | 0:03:19 | 0:03:21
Look, we don't need my teddy bear, but we do need a glue stick. | 0:03:21 | 0:03:25
Can you go and find one for me? | 0:03:25 | 0:03:27
Oh, oh, and take Maker Bear with you. Here he comes. That's it. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:32
Oh, well done, Scrappz. | 0:03:32 | 0:03:34
That's just what we need, thank you. | 0:03:34 | 0:03:38
We've got a glue stick. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:41
Excellent. We've got everything we need. | 0:03:43 | 0:03:46
Although, it does feel like something is missing. | 0:03:46 | 0:03:51
Do you know what it is? | 0:03:51 | 0:03:53
No. | 0:03:53 | 0:03:55 | |
-Over here, Mister Maker. -Of course, Luca! | 0:03:56 | 0:04:00
It's you, my friend. Thank you so much for coming. | 0:04:00 | 0:04:04
You're just in time to help me make our picture. | 0:04:04 | 0:04:07
It's a safari silhouette picture | 0:04:07 | 0:04:10
with super silhouettes of giraffes. | 0:04:10 | 0:04:13
-Are you ready? -Yes. -Good. | 0:04:13 | 0:04:15
Are you ready? | 0:04:15 | 0:04:17
Fantastic. Let's get making. | 0:04:17 | 0:04:19
Now, the first thing we're going to do is draw whatever animal | 0:04:19 | 0:04:23
we would like in our picture. | 0:04:23 | 0:04:25
Of course, we're going to draw giraffes today. | 0:04:25 | 0:04:28
But you can draw whatever you like. | 0:04:28 | 0:04:31
Now, Luca, tell me, what do giraffes look like? | 0:04:31 | 0:04:33
-They've got a really long neck. -And they're very tall, aren't they? | 0:04:33 | 0:04:37
So, let's draw a nice tall giraffe with a long neck. | 0:04:37 | 0:04:42
Now, let's start off with a nice long line. | 0:04:42 | 0:04:46
That will be our giraffe's long neck. | 0:04:46 | 0:04:49
A curve for the legs. | 0:04:50 | 0:04:54
Then a head on top. | 0:04:54 | 0:04:55
Two ears. | 0:04:58 | 0:04:59
And a tail. | 0:05:04 | 0:05:06
Then fatten up the neck and body. | 0:05:06 | 0:05:09
-What have we got? -A giraffe. -A giraffe, that's right. | 0:05:11 | 0:05:15
Now we need to very carefully cut this out. | 0:05:15 | 0:05:18
-And we have got to be careful because scissors are... -Sharp. | 0:05:18 | 0:05:22
That's right. You have watched this before, haven't you? | 0:05:22 | 0:05:26
Now, we need to make some more of these, so get some different | 0:05:29 | 0:05:33
coloured paper, Luca, and then I am going to put our giraffe on top. | 0:05:33 | 0:05:38
Grab a pen. | 0:05:38 | 0:05:39
And then draw around the giraffe. | 0:05:40 | 0:05:42
And we've got another giraffe! | 0:05:48 | 0:05:50
Now, be very careful and can you cut out that purple giraffe? | 0:05:50 | 0:05:55
I'm going to make a pink one. | 0:05:55 | 0:05:58
Make as many giraffes as you like in the same way | 0:05:58 | 0:06:01
using different colours. | 0:06:01 | 0:06:03
Look! Lots of giraffes. | 0:06:05 | 0:06:08
So, Luca, can you look after all of our giraffes? Here they come. | 0:06:08 | 0:06:14
But we do need this. | 0:06:14 | 0:06:17
This is our background paper. | 0:06:17 | 0:06:19
I think this is going to look nice because it's blue, | 0:06:19 | 0:06:22
and that will look like the sky. | 0:06:22 | 0:06:24
Yes, that's right. | 0:06:24 | 0:06:26
Now, you can place your giraffes wherever you like. | 0:06:26 | 0:06:29
It looks really good | 0:06:29 | 0:06:31
if you turn some of the giraffes the other way round, | 0:06:31 | 0:06:34
mix up the colours and even overlap them. | 0:06:34 | 0:06:37
When you're happy with your picture, stick everything down. | 0:06:37 | 0:06:41
We've finished, Luca. It's a super safari silhouette picture. | 0:06:41 | 0:06:45
And if you enjoyed that, why not try these other ideas, too? | 0:06:45 | 0:06:49
What about these fabulous flamingos made from different types of paper? | 0:06:49 | 0:06:54
Or these brilliant birds flying from corner to | 0:06:56 | 0:06:59
corner across a yellow sky? | 0:06:59 | 0:07:01
Or you could even make tremendous trees from different | 0:07:02 | 0:07:05
colours of paper and wrapping paper. | 0:07:05 | 0:07:08
Why don't you try one of those ideas today? | 0:07:08 | 0:07:11
Thank you so much for helping me, Luca. | 0:07:11 | 0:07:14
-BOTH: We made it! -High-five! | 0:07:14 | 0:07:17
Doesn't that look brilliant? | 0:07:17 | 0:07:20
Well done, Luca. | 0:07:20 | 0:07:21
I love travelling the world. You get to see some amazing views. | 0:07:23 | 0:07:28
-Rumble, rumble! -What's that noise? | 0:07:28 | 0:07:31
It sounds like it's coming from the Marvellous Maker Case. | 0:07:31 | 0:07:35
Can you hear that? | 0:07:35 | 0:07:36
It's the Shapes! | 0:07:39 | 0:07:41
They're off on their journey around the world. | 0:07:41 | 0:07:45
# I am a shape | 0:07:48 | 0:07:49
# I am a circle | 0:07:53 | 0:07:54
# I am a triangle | 0:07:57 | 0:07:59
# I am a square | 0:08:02 | 0:08:04
# I am a rectangle | 0:08:07 | 0:08:09
# I am a shape | 0:08:17 | 0:08:18
# I am a shape | 0:08:21 | 0:08:23
# I am a shape | 0:08:26 | 0:08:28
# I am a shape | 0:08:31 | 0:08:33
# I am a square. # | 0:08:39 | 0:08:41
What are the squares making today? | 0:08:43 | 0:08:46
Can you guess? | 0:08:48 | 0:08:50
Any ideas yet? | 0:08:53 | 0:08:55
It's a squirrel. Well done, shapes. | 0:08:59 | 0:09:03
It's time to get back in the Marvellous Maker Case. | 0:09:03 | 0:09:07
Wow, what a beautiful country. | 0:09:17 | 0:09:20
I love travelling the world. | 0:09:20 | 0:09:22
-You get to see so many... -Ring! | 0:09:22 | 0:09:25
Oh, oh! The Maker Phone's ringing. Excuse me. | 0:09:25 | 0:09:30
Oh, it's Tocky. Hello. | 0:09:30 | 0:09:33
It's minute-make time in the UK. | 0:09:33 | 0:09:36
I'm on my way. | 0:09:36 | 0:09:37
Here we go. | 0:09:39 | 0:09:40
-It's minute-make time, everyone! -ALL: Yeah! | 0:09:58 | 0:10:02
Oh, look, someone has left an apple for me. | 0:10:02 | 0:10:05
That's nice. I'm feeling quite hungry. Oh, no, look! | 0:10:05 | 0:10:09
It's a maggot! | 0:10:09 | 0:10:10
But don't worry, everybody, it's just a pretend maggot. | 0:10:10 | 0:10:14
And actually, it's a pretend apple as well. | 0:10:14 | 0:10:17
This is what we are going to make today. | 0:10:17 | 0:10:20
It's a tasty-looking apple with a make-believe maggot. | 0:10:20 | 0:10:23
It's an apple surprise. | 0:10:23 | 0:10:26
Now, we can make this in just one minute by using these arty things. | 0:10:26 | 0:10:31
Let's have a look. | 0:10:31 | 0:10:32
We've got a rubber glove, | 0:10:32 | 0:10:34
a glue stick, | 0:10:34 | 0:10:36
a pen, some scissors, | 0:10:36 | 0:10:39
some sticky dots and some fun foam. | 0:10:39 | 0:10:43
Now, do you think it's possible to make this apple surprise | 0:10:43 | 0:10:48
-in just one minute? -ALL: No way! | 0:10:48 | 0:10:52
Well, I think I can. I'm going to have to be... | 0:10:52 | 0:10:55
very quick. But don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. | 0:10:55 | 0:10:59
-Are you ready? -ALL: Yes! | 0:10:59 | 0:11:02
Are you ready? | 0:11:02 | 0:11:04
Fantastic, let's make it in a minute. | 0:11:04 | 0:11:07
-ALL: Three, two, one! -Start the clock! | 0:11:07 | 0:11:10
The first thing is to fold the fun foam in half, | 0:11:10 | 0:11:13
then take our scissors and very carefully cut out an apple shape. | 0:11:13 | 0:11:17
I'm careful with these scissors because they are... | 0:11:17 | 0:11:20
-ALL: Sharp! -That's right. | 0:11:20 | 0:11:22
We are going to make a small snip there | 0:11:22 | 0:11:24
and another snip on the other side. | 0:11:24 | 0:11:26
That hole needs to be big enough to push my finger through. | 0:11:26 | 0:11:30
I'm going to put some glue on there and then we'll stick on | 0:11:30 | 0:11:33
our leaf shape that I'll cut now. | 0:11:33 | 0:11:35
Here we go. Round and round it goes. | 0:11:35 | 0:11:38
There's a nice leaf there. | 0:11:38 | 0:11:41
Right, and stick on a leaf. Let's now get some stickers. | 0:11:41 | 0:11:45
And we're going to draw some dots. | 0:11:45 | 0:11:47
These are going to be the eyes of our maggot. | 0:11:47 | 0:11:50
We make a maggot by very carefully cutting out | 0:11:50 | 0:11:53
the finger of an old rubber glove, like that. | 0:11:53 | 0:11:57
I can put that on to my finger and then push it through the hole. | 0:11:57 | 0:12:00
Now I've just got to stick on the stickers. | 0:12:00 | 0:12:03
There's one eye. Just one more to go and then I have made it! | 0:12:03 | 0:12:09
ALL: Hurray! | 0:12:09 | 0:12:10
Phew! I did it just in time. But if you... | 0:12:10 | 0:12:15
If you have got more than a minute, you can try all sorts of ideas. | 0:12:15 | 0:12:18
How about a mouse? | 0:12:18 | 0:12:20
With carved ears, teeth and a pom-pom nose, | 0:12:20 | 0:12:23
nibbling on a big piece of cheese. | 0:12:23 | 0:12:25
Or how about this open book with a stripy bookworm | 0:12:25 | 0:12:29
and a ribbon bookmark? | 0:12:29 | 0:12:31
Or you could even make a cuckoo clock with a feathery bird | 0:12:31 | 0:12:35
and a folded paper beak. | 0:12:35 | 0:12:37
What lovely ideas. Why don't you try one? | 0:12:37 | 0:12:40
Here's a reminder of how to do it. | 0:12:40 | 0:12:42
Let's go back to the beginning and take another look. | 0:12:42 | 0:12:45
Carefully cut an apple and leaf shape from fun foam. | 0:12:45 | 0:12:50
Cut a hole in the apple for your maggot. | 0:12:50 | 0:12:53
And glue on the leaf. | 0:12:53 | 0:12:55
Then carefully, cut a finger from an old rubber glove | 0:12:55 | 0:12:58
and push it through the hole in the apple. | 0:12:58 | 0:13:01
Add dots to stickers for eyes and stick them on. | 0:13:01 | 0:13:04
And your apple surprise is finished. | 0:13:04 | 0:13:07
Why don't you try making it in a minute? | 0:13:09 | 0:13:12
Thanks, everyone, for being part of another marvellous minute make! | 0:13:12 | 0:13:16
ALL: Bye! | 0:13:16 | 0:13:19
It's the Queen's house, Buckingham Palace. Look! | 0:13:19 | 0:13:23
Oh. | 0:13:24 | 0:13:26 | |
Hey! What's this? | 0:13:26 | 0:13:28
Ah, it's a Mini Maker postcard. | 0:13:28 | 0:13:32
Let's see what we have been sent today. | 0:13:32 | 0:13:34
Hello, Mister Maker, | 0:13:34 | 0:13:37
I have made a village for you in a basket. | 0:13:37 | 0:13:40
I cut out some flowers and put it in a box. | 0:13:40 | 0:13:44
I made a house and I painted it green and yellow. | 0:13:44 | 0:13:47
I hope you like it, Mister Maker. | 0:13:47 | 0:13:50
Hello, Mister Maker, I'm Alastair and I've made a steam train. | 0:13:50 | 0:13:56
I covered the box in silver paper. | 0:13:56 | 0:13:59
I put some white paper in for the steam | 0:13:59 | 0:14:03
and I cut cardboard for the wheels. | 0:14:03 | 0:14:06
I hope you like it. | 0:14:06 | 0:14:08
Oh, what lovely ideas! | 0:14:08 | 0:14:10
-Why don't you try one of those? -Ring! -Oh! Excuse me. | 0:14:10 | 0:14:14
Ah, some Mini Makers are calling. | 0:14:14 | 0:14:18
Hi, I am Timothy. | 0:14:18 | 0:14:21
I am from Brazil and these are my friends. | 0:14:21 | 0:14:25
Can you help us make a picture? | 0:14:25 | 0:14:27
What a great idea! I'm on my way. | 0:14:27 | 0:14:30
I will be with you for a high-five in five... | 0:14:30 | 0:14:34
Four... | 0:14:34 | 0:14:36
Three... | 0:14:37 | 0:14:38
Two... | 0:14:40 | 0:14:41
One... | 0:14:41 | 0:14:43
We are in Brazil. | 0:14:43 | 0:14:46
I made it! I told you I would. Right, let's get some high-fives. | 0:14:46 | 0:14:50
Now, what picture would you like to make today? | 0:14:50 | 0:14:53
ALL: Crocodiles. | 0:14:53 | 0:14:56
A crocodile picture, I like the sound of that. | 0:14:56 | 0:15:00
-Now, what do crocodiles look like? -Green. | 0:15:00 | 0:15:03
Green, they are green. | 0:15:03 | 0:15:05
-Big teeth. -And big, sharp teeth. And how many crocodiles shall we make? | 0:15:05 | 0:15:11
-Two. -Two, OK. Now, what else will we have in our picture? | 0:15:11 | 0:15:15
-Dragonflies. -Dragonflies, great idea. | 0:15:15 | 0:15:19
-We're ready, aren't we? -ALL: Yes! | 0:15:19 | 0:15:22
Let's make it together. | 0:15:22 | 0:15:24
BOTH: We are making a crocodile. | 0:15:26 | 0:15:29
These are the flowers. | 0:15:32 | 0:15:33
And here is the background. | 0:15:38 | 0:15:40
We are having great fun making our big crocodile picture. | 0:15:45 | 0:15:49
And that has just given me an idea. | 0:15:49 | 0:15:52
Why don't you make something, too? | 0:15:52 | 0:15:55
Try making your own pet sock crocodile. | 0:15:55 | 0:15:59
Or you could call it a sock-o-dile. | 0:15:59 | 0:16:01
You will need a clean plastic bottle and kitchen foil, | 0:16:02 | 0:16:06
sticky tape and a sock, | 0:16:06 | 0:16:08
paper and a paper cup, | 0:16:08 | 0:16:10
card and a pen, | 0:16:10 | 0:16:13
scissors, glue and stickers. | 0:16:13 | 0:16:15
First, scrunch paper into two balls. | 0:16:16 | 0:16:20
And tape them on to the bottom of a plastic bottle. | 0:16:20 | 0:16:24
Roll foil around the top of the bottle. | 0:16:27 | 0:16:30
And tape it into place. | 0:16:32 | 0:16:34
Now pull a sock over the top of a paper cup. | 0:16:37 | 0:16:40
And push it into the bottom of the sock. | 0:16:41 | 0:16:44
Next, push the bottle into the sock like this. | 0:16:46 | 0:16:50
Then make a tail by bending the foil inside. | 0:16:55 | 0:16:59
Now draw a foot on to some card. | 0:16:59 | 0:17:04
And carefully cut it out. | 0:17:04 | 0:17:06
Then draw around it to make three more feet. | 0:17:08 | 0:17:12
And cut these out, too. | 0:17:12 | 0:17:14
Take a strip of card and cut jagged teeth down the edge. | 0:17:16 | 0:17:20
Now stick the card teeth around the front of the sock-o-dile. | 0:17:22 | 0:17:27
And stick two feet on each side of the body. | 0:17:29 | 0:17:33
Add stickers for nostrils. | 0:17:35 | 0:17:38
And eyes. | 0:17:38 | 0:17:39
Your sock-o-dile is finished and ready to play with. | 0:17:42 | 0:17:46
What a great idea! Why don't you try it? | 0:17:52 | 0:17:55
But right now, let's see how our big picture is coming along. | 0:17:55 | 0:17:59
Squeak, squeak, squeak. | 0:17:59 | 0:18:01
Nearly finished. | 0:18:08 | 0:18:10
-Oh, well done, everyone. -ALL: We made it together! | 0:18:10 | 0:18:14
ALL: Yay! | 0:18:14 | 0:18:18
Now that's what I call a snappy picture. | 0:18:19 | 0:18:22
Do you think those crocodiles are friendly? | 0:18:22 | 0:18:26
Wow, what an amazing arty adventure we've had. | 0:18:29 | 0:18:33
-Remember, wherever you are in the world, keep making! -Ring! | 0:18:33 | 0:18:38
It's the Maker Phone. Oh, it's Tocky. | 0:18:38 | 0:18:42
Time to go, time to go! | 0:18:42 | 0:18:45
Oh, thanks, Tocky. I'll be home soon. | 0:18:45 | 0:18:48
Oh, well, that's it for now. | 0:18:48 | 0:18:50
My making time is over, but yours is just beginning. | 0:18:50 | 0:18:54
It's time to put the Marvellous Maker Case back in its box. | 0:18:54 | 0:18:58
