CHILDREN: Mister Maker Around The World!

0:00:400:00:43

Hello. It's making time.

0:00:430:00:45

Get ready for an arty adventure around the world.

0:00:450:00:51

Today, we head to Australia

0:00:510:00:53

to create a cardboard tube creature in just a minute.

0:00:530:00:57

We build a yummy cake mountain

0:00:580:01:01

and show you how to make your own delicious doughnut.

0:01:010:01:04

But first, we fly to South America to make a bright and busy picture.

0:01:060:01:12

Whoa!

0:01:120:01:14

Ah! Look where we are. We're in Brazil.

0:01:140:01:19

What a beautiful, exciting place.

0:01:190:01:22

There must be so much to see. Let's have a look around.

0:01:220:01:27

Ha-ha!

0:01:270:01:28

There are amazing views, beautiful beaches

0:01:290:01:33

and lots and lots of tall buildings.

0:01:330:01:37

All of these buildings have just given me a great idea.

0:01:380:01:44

Let's try something.

0:01:440:01:46

Try making a brilliant bright and busy picture for a colourful effect.

0:01:460:01:51

Let's make it.

0:01:510:01:54

We'll need a Mini Maker to help us. Let's see if there's one nearby.

0:01:540:01:59

Hello, Mini Makers, who's going to help me today?

0:01:590:02:03

Hello, Mister Maker.

0:02:030:02:04

-I'm Louisa.

-Hello, Louisa.

0:02:040:02:07

-I can help you.

-Oh, that's great news.

0:02:070:02:12

Everyone else, thank you very much.

0:02:120:02:14

Fantastic. Louisa is on her way to help us make our picture.

0:02:140:02:19

But first, we'll need somewhere to make it.

0:02:190:02:22

Oh, fantastic.

0:02:260:02:28

The Marvellous Maker Case has become a marvellous making table.

0:02:280:02:32

Now we just need some arty things to help us make our picture.

0:02:320:02:36

We'll need some paper or card...

0:02:360:02:40

..some pens.

0:02:440:02:46

Scissors and a glue stick.

0:02:500:02:53

And, of course, we'll need one more thing.

0:02:530:02:56

Oh, hello, Scrappz.

0:02:560:02:59

What have you got there? Oh, lots more scraps.

0:02:590:03:02

And I see you're wearing your crown, because you are the king of scrap.

0:03:020:03:07

I'm going to put these over here.

0:03:070:03:09

But, Scrappz, what we really need now is some stickers.

0:03:090:03:13

Can you find me some, please? Oh!

0:03:130:03:16

He's brilliant.

0:03:160:03:19

Oh, well done, Scrappz, that's just what we need. Bye.

0:03:190:03:23

We've got some stickers. Excellent. We've got everything we need.

0:03:250:03:31

Although, it does feel like something's missing.

0:03:310:03:34

Do you know what it is? Oh. Hm.

0:03:340:03:38

I'm here, Mister Maker.

0:03:380:03:40

Of course! Louisa! It's you, my friend. It's lovely to see you.

0:03:400:03:44

Thank you so much for coming.

0:03:440:03:46

And you are just in time to help us make our picture.

0:03:460:03:50

It's a bright and busy city picture

0:03:500:03:53

with lots of crazy-looking colourful buildings.

0:03:530:03:57

-So, Louisa, are you ready?

-Yes.

-Good. Are you ready?

0:03:570:04:02

Fantastic. Let's get making.

0:04:020:04:05

Now, Louisa,

0:04:050:04:06

the first thing we need to do is draw everything in our picture.

0:04:060:04:10

-Do you like drawing?

-Yes.

-Good. I like drawing, as well.

0:04:100:04:13

We're going to start by drawing the road.

0:04:130:04:16

So, can you pass me that long piece of grey paper,

0:04:160:04:22

because we're going to draw a long, wiggly road.

0:04:220:04:25

There. A long, wiggly road.

0:04:280:04:32

Right, I'm going to put that over there.

0:04:320:04:35

Now, let's see what else we need in our picture.

0:04:350:04:38

We need some colourful buildings,

0:04:380:04:41

a sun, a fluffy cloud and a car driving along the road.

0:04:410:04:47

Louisa, look, we've got lots of different types of paper

0:04:470:04:51

that we're going to draw our shapes on.

0:04:510:04:53

Here's some nice purple paper for you and here's a pen.

0:04:530:04:58

Let's start drawing.

0:04:580:05:00

Everything is drawn.

0:05:050:05:07

We've got building shapes,

0:05:070:05:09

a cloud shape,

0:05:090:05:12

a car shape

0:05:120:05:13

and a round sun.

0:05:130:05:16

All right, then, Louisa, we now need to cut everything out.

0:05:160:05:19

-But we must be careful, because scissors are...?

-Sharp.

0:05:190:05:23

That's right.

0:05:230:05:25

Ha-ha!

0:05:250:05:26

When everything is cut out,

0:05:290:05:31

it's time to arrange our pieces onto our backing paper.

0:05:310:05:35

You can use whatever colour paper you like, but, today,

0:05:350:05:39

-we're going to use...which colour?

-Blue.

0:05:390:05:43

This blue colour will look really lovely as the sky.

0:05:430:05:47

Put the buildings behind the road and the car on top of the road.

0:05:500:05:55

When everything is in place, glue it down like this.

0:05:560:06:01

We're nearly finished, but now, we need to add some stickers.

0:06:010:06:05

We've added stickers for the lines in the road,

0:06:090:06:12

the windows in the buildings and the car.

0:06:120:06:15

Oh, and look, we've added half a circle-shaped sticker

0:06:150:06:19

for the headlight.

0:06:190:06:21

We've finished.

0:06:210:06:22

And if you enjoyed that, why not try these other ideas, too?

0:06:220:06:26

You could make a terrific train with a colourful paper engine

0:06:260:06:30

and a wrapping-paper carriage.

0:06:300:06:33

Or how about a cute country scene, with a bright red tractor

0:06:330:06:37

-and a pink paper pig?

-Oink-oink!

0:06:370:06:39

Or you could make a brilliant jungle

0:06:390:06:41

with a crazy crocodile

0:06:410:06:43

and a cheeky monkey.

0:06:430:06:44

MONKEY SCREECHES

0:06:440:06:45

Why don't you try one of those ideas today?

0:06:450:06:48

Thank you for your help, Louisa.

0:06:480:06:50

BOTH: We made it!

0:06:500:06:52

High-five!

0:06:520:06:54

What a brilliant bright and busy picture. Well done, Louisa.

0:06:540:06:58

Wow, look at that. Sugarloaf Mountain. What a sight.

0:07:010:07:06

That is just...

0:07:060:07:08

SQUEAKING, PINGING NOISES What's that noise?!

0:07:080:07:11

It's coming from the Marvellous Maker Case.

0:07:110:07:14

Can you hear that?

0:07:140:07:16

It's the Shapes! They're off on their journey around the world.

0:07:190:07:24

MUSIC PLAYS

0:07:260:07:28

ALL: I am a shape.

0:07:280:07:30

I am a circle.

0:07:330:07:35

I am a triangle.

0:07:370:07:39

I am a square.

0:07:420:07:45

I am a rectangle.

0:07:470:07:50

I am a shape.

0:07:570:07:59

I am a shape.

0:08:010:08:03

I am a shape.

0:08:060:08:08

I am a shape.

0:08:110:08:12

I am a rectangle.

0:08:190:08:21

What are the rectangles making today?

0:08:240:08:30

Can you guess?

0:08:300:08:31

Any ideas yet?

0:08:340:08:36

It's a scorpion.

0:08:410:08:43

Well done, Shapes. It's time to get back in the Marvellous Maker Case.

0:08:460:08:52

THEY LAUGH

0:08:520:08:55

Ah, well, I love travelling the world.

0:08:580:09:02

You get to see incredible sights. PHONE RINGS

0:09:020:09:07

Excuse me. That's the Makerphone.

0:09:070:09:09

Oh, it's Tocky. Hello, Tocky.

0:09:090:09:11

It's minute-make time in Australia.

0:09:110:09:15

Oh, thank you very much. I'm on my way.

0:09:150:09:18

Here we go.

0:09:180:09:20

It's minute-make time! CHEERING

0:09:390:09:42

And, today, I'm going to do an impression of what we're making.

0:09:420:09:46

See if you can guess what it is. Here we go.

0:09:460:09:49

Twit-twoo! Twit-twoo!

0:09:490:09:51

-Ha-ha! Right, any guesses? Madam?

-A train?

0:09:510:09:55

A train? No! LAUGHTER

0:09:550:09:58

It was an owl, wasn't it, everyone?

0:09:580:10:01

ALL: Yes!

0:10:010:10:02

Yes. And the reason I'm doing that brilliant owl impression

0:10:020:10:08

is because we're making one of these.

0:10:080:10:11

It's a card-tube owl. Twit-twoo!

0:10:110:10:15

To make one of those, we'll need these arty things.

0:10:150:10:19

Come and have a look. We've got a glue stick,

0:10:190:10:22

some paper cases,

0:10:220:10:24

a cardboard tube, a pen,

0:10:240:10:26

some stickers and a paper triangle.

0:10:260:10:30

Now, do you think it's possible to make this card-tube owl

0:10:300:10:34

in just one minute? CROWD: No way!

0:10:340:10:37

Oh, really? Well, I'll have to be very quick.

0:10:370:10:40

Don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

0:10:400:10:44

CROWD: Yes!

0:10:440:10:46

Are you ready? Brilliant.

0:10:460:10:48

Let's make it in a minute.

0:10:480:10:51

ALL: Three, two, one!

0:10:510:10:53

Start the clock. The first thing we do

0:10:530:10:55

is carefully bend the cardboard tube

0:10:550:10:58

to make ears.

0:10:580:10:59

Then we bring in our stickers.

0:10:590:11:01

With a pen, we're going to draw dots

0:11:010:11:03

for the pupils in the eyes.

0:11:030:11:05

There's one and there's two.

0:11:050:11:08

Let's stick those onto our owl.

0:11:080:11:12

There is one eye.

0:11:120:11:14

There's another eye. There.

0:11:140:11:17

Right. Let's get some glue

0:11:170:11:19

and our paper triangle.

0:11:190:11:21

If we put that just below the eye,

0:11:210:11:23

we've got a lovely beak.

0:11:230:11:25

Let's get our paper cases.

0:11:250:11:26

We have three, but use as many as you like.

0:11:260:11:29

We fold them in half. There's one

0:11:290:11:32

and there's two.

0:11:320:11:33

Oh! And there's three.

0:11:330:11:35

Now we get our glue stick back.

0:11:350:11:37

We put lots of glue on the front

0:11:370:11:40

of the tube and some at the sides.

0:11:400:11:43

Now we can stick on our paper cases.

0:11:430:11:45

They are the feathers of the owl.

0:11:450:11:48

There's some at the front.

0:11:480:11:49

Let's put some there.

0:11:490:11:51

And some last feathers at the side.

0:11:510:11:53

BELL AND KLAXON SOUND And we've made a card-tube owl.

0:11:530:11:57

CHEERING Phew! I did it just in time.

0:11:570:12:01

A card-tube owl made in just one minute.

0:12:010:12:05

If you've got more than a minute, why not try some other ideas?

0:12:050:12:09

How about a lion

0:12:100:12:12

with a paper-case mane?

0:12:120:12:14

Or you could try this tropical bug

0:12:140:12:16

with spotty paper-case wings

0:12:160:12:18

and pipe-cleaner antennae.

0:12:180:12:20

Or you could even try making

0:12:200:12:22

a spotty alien using fun foam and drinking straws

0:12:220:12:26

for hands and eyes.

0:12:260:12:28

Why not try to make it in a minute?

0:12:280:12:30

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

0:12:300:12:32

Let's go back and take another look.

0:12:320:12:35

Bend down a cardboard tube to make ears.

0:12:350:12:38

Draw dots on stickers for eyes.

0:12:380:12:40

And stick them on.

0:12:400:12:43

Stick on a paper triangle for a beak.

0:12:430:12:45

Fold three cake cases in half and glue them on for feathers

0:12:450:12:49

and your cardboard-tube owl is finished.

0:12:490:12:52

Why don't you try and make it in a minute?

0:12:550:12:58

Now, as my friend the card-tube owl would say, "I must fly, twit-twoo!"

0:12:580:13:03

But thank you for being part of another marvellous minute-make!

0:13:030:13:07

CHEERING

0:13:070:13:09

Oh, what's this?

0:13:150:13:18

It's a Mini Maker postcard.

0:13:180:13:20

Let's see what we've been sent today.

0:13:200:13:23

Hello, Mister Maker, I'm Nancy and I made a robot for you.

0:13:230:13:27

I put some googly eyes on and I've stuck on pompoms for his hair.

0:13:270:13:33

His name is Sam and I hope you like it, Mister Maker.

0:13:330:13:37

Hello, Mister Maker, I'm Riley, from South Africa,

0:13:370:13:41

and I made a skittle doll.

0:13:410:13:42

I took a bottle, then I took some blue tissue paper

0:13:420:13:46

and I stuck it on the bottle.

0:13:460:13:48

Then I decorated the dress.

0:13:480:13:50

My skittle doll is called Bella.

0:13:500:13:52

Oh, what lovely ideas.

0:13:520:13:55

Why don't you try some of those? PHONE RINGS

0:13:550:13:58

Oh! Ah, the Makerphone's ringing.

0:13:580:14:00

Excuse me. Ah, some Mini Makers are calling.

0:14:000:14:06

Hello, my name is Grace and I'm from the UK and these are all my friends.

0:14:060:14:10

Can you help us make a picture, please?

0:14:100:14:12

What a lovely idea. I'll see you for a high-five in five,

0:14:120:14:17

four...

0:14:170:14:20

We're in the UK.

0:14:270:14:29

I made it! I told you I would. High-five, everyone.

0:14:290:14:33

What picture would you like to make? MINI MAKERS: A cake picture!

0:14:350:14:39

A cake picture. What sorts of cake shall we make?

0:14:390:14:42

Chocolate cake.

0:14:420:14:44

Oh, yes, chocolate cake. My favourite.

0:14:440:14:46

A cake with cherry on top.

0:14:460:14:49

Oh, yes, a cherry on top. Nice.

0:14:490:14:51

-Fairy cakes.

-Fairy cakes.

0:14:510:14:55

Yes, I like fairy cakes.

0:14:550:14:57

I think we're ready, aren't we? ALL: Yes!

0:14:570:14:59

Let's make it together.

0:14:590:15:01

We're making cakes.

0:15:070:15:09

These are cherries, but we need to be careful because scissors are...

0:15:100:15:14

BOTH: Sharp!

0:15:140:15:17

These are delicious doughnuts.

0:15:170:15:19

LAUGHTER

0:15:260:15:32

Look at that!

0:15:320:15:34

And we'll need a nice, bright background.

0:15:360:15:38

We're having a great time making our tasty-looking cake picture.

0:15:460:15:50

That's just given me a great idea.

0:15:500:15:54

Why don't you make something, too?

0:15:540:15:57

Try making your very own delicious doughnut.

0:15:570:16:00

It's fun to make and great to play with.

0:16:000:16:03

You will need

0:16:030:16:05

kitchen foil,

0:16:050:16:07

gloopy PVA glue and a brush,

0:16:070:16:10

coloured tissue paper,

0:16:100:16:13

paint, a paper plate

0:16:130:16:16

and colourful beads.

0:16:160:16:18

Take a big piece of kitchen foil and shape it into a ring.

0:16:180:16:22

You don't have to be too neat, but try and get it as round as you can.

0:16:220:16:26

Then cover it with another piece to make it even fatter.

0:16:260:16:30

Next, spread some gloopy glue onto your foil ring

0:16:300:16:34

and add some torn-up tissue paper.

0:16:340:16:36

Keep going all the way around until your ring is completely covered.

0:16:360:16:40

Then just leave it to dry.

0:16:400:16:43

Now you need to give your doughnut a scrumptious topping,

0:16:430:16:47

so squirt a ring of paint on top for icing.

0:16:470:16:50

This can get messy,

0:16:500:16:52

so you might want to put down some old paper or newspaper.

0:16:520:16:56

Don't worry if the paint drips,

0:16:560:16:58

as it makes the doughnut look even more realistic.

While the paint is wet,

0:17:010:17:03

sprinkle on lots of colourful beads to look like yummy sprinkles.

0:17:030:17:08

Then just leave it to dry.

0:17:080:17:10

Look at that - a delicious doughnut.

0:17:100:17:13

And you don't have to stop there.

0:17:130:17:15

How about a blue iced doughnut with chocolate bead sprinkles?

0:17:150:17:19

Or a chocolate-coated doughnut with a yellow lemon drizzle?

0:17:190:17:23

Or even a purple-and-green iced doughnut?

0:17:230:17:27

Your delicious doughnuts are finished and ready to play with.

0:17:270:17:31

Just make sure that nobody tries to eat them.

0:17:310:17:34

What a great idea. Why don't you try it?

0:17:340:17:38

But, right now, Mini Makers, let's make some big cakes.

0:17:380:17:43

Another doughnut, please, Scrappz.

0:17:480:17:50

Hm. Ah!

0:17:500:17:52

Oh. Ooh! Ah!

0:17:520:17:55

Ah-ah-ah. Ah!

0:17:550:17:57

Oh, well done, everyone. ALL: We've made it together! Yes!

0:17:590:18:06

Those cakes look good enough to eat. Yum!

0:18:090:18:13

We have had some amazing arty adventures today.

0:18:150:18:19

M-m-m-mee! Hey!

0:18:190:18:20

M-ma-nee-noo!

0:18:200:18:22

No, Scrappz, we can't live over there.

0:18:220:18:25

That's Buckingham Palace!

0:18:250:18:27

PHONE RINGS

0:18:270:18:29

Don't worry, Scrappz, it's just the Makerphone.

0:18:290:18:33

Oh, it's Tocky. It's Tocky!

0:18:330:18:35

Time to go, time to go.

0:18:350:18:38

All right, Tocky, I'll be home soon.

0:18:380:18:41

Well, that's it for now.

0:18:410:18:43

My making time is over, but yours is just beginning.

0:18:430:18:47

It's time to put the Marvellous Maker Case back in its box.

0:18:470:18:51
