Hello. It's making time.

Get ready for an arty adventure around the world.

Today, we head to Australia

to create a cardboard tube creature in just a minute.

We build a yummy cake mountain

and show you how to make your own delicious doughnut.

But first, we fly to South America to make a bright and busy picture.

Whoa!

Ah! Look where we are. We're in Brazil.

What a beautiful, exciting place.

There must be so much to see. Let's have a look around.

Ha-ha!

There are amazing views, beautiful beaches

and lots and lots of tall buildings.

All of these buildings have just given me a great idea.

Let's try something.

Try making a brilliant bright and busy picture for a colourful effect.

But first, we'll need somewhere to make it.

Oh, fantastic.

The Marvellous Maker Case has become a marvellous making table.

Now we just need some arty things to help us make our picture.

We'll need some paper or card...

..some pens.

Scissors and a glue stick.

And, of course, we'll need one more thing.

Oh, hello, Scrappz.

What have you got there? Oh, lots more scraps.

And I see you're wearing your crown, because you are the king of scrap.

I'm going to put these over here.

But, Scrappz, what we really need now is some stickers.

Can you find me some, please? Oh!

He's brilliant.

Oh, well done, Scrappz, that's just what we need. Bye.

We've got some stickers. Excellent. We've got everything we need.

Although, it does feel like something's missing.

Do you know what it is? Oh. Hm.

And you are just in time to help us make our picture.

It's a bright and busy city picture

with lots of crazy-looking colourful buildings.

-So, Louisa, are you ready?

-Yes.

-Good. Are you ready?

Fantastic. Let's get making.

Now, Louisa,

the first thing we need to do is draw everything in our picture.

-Do you like drawing?

-Yes.

-Good. I like drawing, as well.

We're going to start by drawing the road.

So, can you pass me that long piece of grey paper,

because we're going to draw a long, wiggly road.

There. A long, wiggly road.

Right, I'm going to put that over there.

Now, let's see what else we need in our picture.

We need some colourful buildings,

a sun, a fluffy cloud and a car driving along the road.

Louisa, look, we've got lots of different types of paper

that we're going to draw our shapes on.

Here's some nice purple paper for you and here's a pen.

Let's start drawing.

Everything is drawn.

We've got building shapes,

a cloud shape,

a car shape

and a round sun.

All right, then, Louisa, we now need to cut everything out.

-But we must be careful, because scissors are...?

-Sharp.

That's right.

Ha-ha!

When everything is cut out,

it's time to arrange our pieces onto our backing paper.

You can use whatever colour paper you like, but, today,

-we're going to use...which colour?

-Blue.

This blue colour will look really lovely as the sky.

Put the buildings behind the road and the car on top of the road.

When everything is in place, glue it down like this.

We're nearly finished, but now, we need to add some stickers.

We've added stickers for the lines in the road,

the windows in the buildings and the car.

Oh, and look, we've added half a circle-shaped sticker

for the headlight.

We've finished.

And, today, I'm going to do an impression of what we're making.

See if you can guess what it is. Here we go.

Twit-twoo! Twit-twoo!

-Ha-ha! Right, any guesses? Madam?

-A train?

A train? No! LAUGHTER

It was an owl, wasn't it, everyone?

ALL: Yes!

Yes. And the reason I'm doing that brilliant owl impression

is because we're making one of these.

It's a card-tube owl. Twit-twoo!

To make one of those, we'll need these arty things.

Come and have a look. We've got a glue stick,

some paper cases,

a cardboard tube, a pen,

some stickers and a paper triangle.

Now, do you think it's possible to make this card-tube owl

in just one minute? CROWD: No way!

Oh, really? Well, I'll have to be very quick.

Don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

CROWD: Yes!

Are you ready? Brilliant.

Let's make it in a minute.

ALL: Three, two, one!

Start the clock. The first thing we do

is carefully bend the cardboard tube

to make ears.

Then we bring in our stickers.

With a pen, we're going to draw dots

for the pupils in the eyes.

There's one and there's two.

Let's stick those onto our owl.

There is one eye.

There's another eye. There.

Right. Let's get some glue

and our paper triangle.

If we put that just below the eye,

we've got a lovely beak.

Let's get our paper cases.

We have three, but use as many as you like.

We fold them in half. There's one

and there's two.

Oh! And there's three.

Now we get our glue stick back.

We put lots of glue on the front

of the tube and some at the sides.

Now we can stick on our paper cases.

They are the feathers of the owl.

There's some at the front.

Let's put some there.

And some last feathers at the side.

BELL AND KLAXON SOUND And we've made a card-tube owl.

CHEERING Phew! I did it just in time.

A card-tube owl made in just one minute.

If you've got more than a minute, why not try some other ideas?

How about a lion

with a paper-case mane?

Or you could try this tropical bug

with spotty paper-case wings

and pipe-cleaner antennae.

Or you could even try making

a spotty alien using fun foam and drinking straws

for hands and eyes.

Why not try to make it in a minute?

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back and take another look.

Bend down a cardboard tube to make ears.

Draw dots on stickers for eyes.

And stick them on.

Stick on a paper triangle for a beak.

Fold three cake cases in half and glue them on for feathers

and your cardboard-tube owl is finished.

I took a bottle, then I took some blue tissue paper

and I stuck it on the bottle.

Then I decorated the dress.

My skittle doll is called Bella.

Oh, what lovely ideas.

A cake picture. What sorts of cake shall we make?

Chocolate cake.

Oh, yes, chocolate cake. My favourite.

I think we're ready, aren't we? ALL: Yes!

We're making cakes.

These are cherries, but we need to be careful because scissors are...

These are delicious doughnuts.

LAUGHTER

Look at that!

And we'll need a nice, bright background.

We're having a great time making our tasty-looking cake picture.

That's just given me a great idea.

Why don't you make something, too?

Try making your very own delicious doughnut.

It's fun to make and great to play with.

You will need

kitchen foil,

gloopy PVA glue and a brush,

coloured tissue paper,

paint, a paper plate

and colourful beads.

Take a big piece of kitchen foil and shape it into a ring.

You don't have to be too neat, but try and get it as round as you can.

Then cover it with another piece to make it even fatter.

Next, spread some gloopy glue onto your foil ring

and add some torn-up tissue paper.

Keep going all the way around until your ring is completely covered.

Then just leave it to dry.

Now you need to give your doughnut a scrumptious topping,

so squirt a ring of paint on top for icing.

This can get messy,

so you might want to put down some old paper or newspaper.

Don't worry if the paint drips,

as it makes the doughnut look even more realistic.

While the paint is wet,

sprinkle on lots of colourful beads to look like yummy sprinkles.

Then just leave it to dry.

Look at that - a delicious doughnut.

And you don't have to stop there.

How about a blue iced doughnut with chocolate bead sprinkles?

Or a chocolate-coated doughnut with a yellow lemon drizzle?

Or even a purple-and-green iced doughnut?

Your delicious doughnuts are finished and ready to play with.

Just make sure that nobody tries to eat them.

What a great idea. Why don't you try it?

But, right now, Mini Makers, let's make some big cakes.
