Wow! Ho-ho, look where we are! | 0:01:13 | 0:01:17
We're in Hong Kong! | 0:01:17 | 0:01:19
Oh, and look! Look at all the boats! | 0:01:19 | 0:01:22
There are lots of boats sailing on wavy water. | 0:01:22 | 0:01:26
That's just given me a great idea. | 0:01:26 | 0:01:30
Let's try something! | 0:01:30 | 0:01:32
Try making a fantastic silver-lined picture of a boat | 0:01:32 | 0:01:36
sailing on wavy water. | 0:01:36 | 0:01:38
Let's make it! | 0:01:38 | 0:01:40
Now, we'll need a Mini Maker to help us. | 0:01:41 | 0:01:44
Let's see if there's one nearby. | 0:01:44 | 0:01:46
Oh! Hello, Mini Makers. Who's going to help me today? | 0:01:46 | 0:01:50
Hello, Mister Maker, I'm Matthew. | 0:01:50 | 0:01:53
-Oh, hello, Matthew! -I can help you. | 0:01:53 | 0:01:56
Oh, that's great news! Everyone else, thank you, we'll see you soon. | 0:01:56 | 0:02:00
Matthew, let's get making! | 0:02:00 | 0:02:03
Oh, great! Matthew is on his way to help us make our picture. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:07
But first, we'll need somewhere to make it. | 0:02:07 | 0:02:11
Oh, wonderful! | 0:02:15 | 0:02:18
The Marvellous Maker Case has become a marvellous making table. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:23
Now we just need some arty things to make our picture. | 0:02:23 | 0:02:26
We'll need some cardboard-box card... | 0:02:26 | 0:02:30
..some paint... | 0:02:33 | 0:02:35
..some gloopy PVA glue and some kitchen foil... | 0:02:39 | 0:02:43
..some sticky tape, and some paintbrushes, | 0:02:47 | 0:02:50
and, of course, we need one more thing. | 0:02:50 | 0:02:53
That's right, some maracas! | 0:02:53 | 0:02:56
MARACAS SHAKE, SCRAPPZ HUMS | 0:02:56 | 0:02:59
Wait a minute... We don't need maracas! | 0:02:59 | 0:03:02
Scrappz, it's you! How did you get here? | 0:03:02 | 0:03:05
-SCRAPPZ SQUEAKS -Oh, I see. | 0:03:05 | 0:03:08
Scrappz, open up, please. See if you can find a pen. | 0:03:08 | 0:03:11
Go on, off you go. | 0:03:11 | 0:03:13
Oh, there we go. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:15
Thank you, Scrappz. Just what we need. | 0:03:15 | 0:03:19
We've got a pen! | 0:03:21 | 0:03:24
Great, we've got everything we need. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:27
Although, it does feel like something's missing. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:31
Do you know what it is? Erm... | 0:03:31 | 0:03:34
Hi, Mister Maker. | 0:03:34 | 0:03:37
Of course! Matthew, it's you, my friend! | 0:03:37 | 0:03:39
Thank you very much for coming. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:41
You're just in time to help us make a picture. | 0:03:41 | 0:03:44
Look at that, it's a silver-lined picture | 0:03:44 | 0:03:48
of a brilliant boat in a wavy sea. | 0:03:48 | 0:03:51
-Now, Matthew, are you ready? -Yes. | 0:03:51 | 0:03:54
Good! Are you ready? | 0:03:54 | 0:03:56
Fantastic! Let's get making! | 0:03:56 | 0:03:59
Now, the first thing we need | 0:03:59 | 0:04:00
is a sheet of cardboard-box card, like this. | 0:04:00 | 0:04:04
We're going to draw something on it. | 0:04:04 | 0:04:07
You can draw whatever you like, | 0:04:07 | 0:04:09
but today we're going to draw a boat bobbing on the water, | 0:04:09 | 0:04:13
with a chimney, a flag, | 0:04:13 | 0:04:15
and floats along the side. | 0:04:15 | 0:04:18
Let's get drawing! | 0:04:18 | 0:04:21
When you've drawn your picture, you'll need some gloopy glue. | 0:04:25 | 0:04:29
Matthew, can you find some gloopy glue, please? Thank you. | 0:04:29 | 0:04:33
Watch this, Matthew. | 0:04:33 | 0:04:35
Just squeeze gloopy glue all over the lines you've drawn. | 0:04:36 | 0:04:41
When you've covered all the lines in your picture, | 0:04:45 | 0:04:48
and left the glue to dry hard and bumpy, it'll look like this. | 0:04:48 | 0:04:53
Now we need to cover this in a large sheet of kitchen foil. | 0:04:53 | 0:04:57
I think you've got some, Matthew. Can you pass it over? | 0:04:57 | 0:05:00
Ooh, it's a bit windy! | 0:05:00 | 0:05:02
Now fold the foil over the edges of the cardboard. | 0:05:02 | 0:05:05
And fix it in place with sticky tape and then turn it over. | 0:05:10 | 0:05:14
And when you've done that, you'll need this - your finger. | 0:05:14 | 0:05:18
Fingers at the ready. | 0:05:18 | 0:05:20
We need to take our fingers and we're going to very carefully rub | 0:05:20 | 0:05:24
the foil to make the bumps and the glue lines stand out. | 0:05:24 | 0:05:28
And your picture should reappear where you have rubbed. | 0:05:30 | 0:05:33
Now we're ready to colour in our picture inside the bumpy lines | 0:05:36 | 0:05:41
with a very special painty mixture. | 0:05:41 | 0:05:44
Now, Matthew, can you grab that big bottle of gloopy glue, please? | 0:05:44 | 0:05:50
Add a big squirt to each colour of paint and start mixing. | 0:05:50 | 0:05:53
Done. | 0:05:56 | 0:05:57 | |
Thank you very much, Matthew. Good mixing. | 0:05:57 | 0:06:00
Now, the reason we've used gloopy glue in our mixture | 0:06:00 | 0:06:04
is so that the paint sticks to the foil. | 0:06:04 | 0:06:07
Let's start with some orange paint | 0:06:07 | 0:06:11
and we can paint the main part of our boat. | 0:06:11 | 0:06:15
Paint as carefully as you can... | 0:06:15 | 0:06:17
..making sure that you don't get any paint on the bumpy silver lines. | 0:06:18 | 0:06:23
Matthew, look, we've finished our picture. | 0:06:25 | 0:06:28
And by not painting on the silver bumpy lines, | 0:06:28 | 0:06:32
the boat really stands out. | 0:06:32 | 0:06:34
And we've even left some parts of the picture to add to the effect. | 0:06:34 | 0:06:40
And if you enjoyed that, why not try these other ideas, too? | 0:06:40 | 0:06:44
You could try a silver-lined car with go-faster stripes | 0:06:44 | 0:06:48
and a shiny silver window. | 0:06:48 | 0:06:50
Or how about a silver-lined rocket flying past silver stars? | 0:06:51 | 0:06:56
Or you could even try a silver-lined robot with a silver robot dog. | 0:06:58 | 0:07:02
Why don't you try one of those ideas today? | 0:07:02 | 0:07:05
Thank you so much for helping me, Matthew. | 0:07:05 | 0:07:08
-BOTH: -We made it! -High-five. | 0:07:08 | 0:07:11
What a great idea. Well done, Matthew. | 0:07:12 | 0:07:15
Oh! After a busy day travelling the world, you have to take a break | 0:07:17 | 0:07:21
and have a drink of water. | 0:07:21 | 0:07:23
SQUEAKING | 0:07:23 | 0:07:25
What's that noise? | 0:07:27 | 0:07:28
It's coming from the Marvellous Maker Case. Can you hear that? | 0:07:28 | 0:07:33
It's the Shapes! They're off on their journey around the world. | 0:07:35 | 0:07:40
SHOUTING | 0:07:40 | 0:07:42
-ALL: -# I am a shape | 0:07:44 | 0:07:46
# I am a circle | 0:07:48 | 0:07:50
# I am a triangle | 0:07:53 | 0:07:55
# I am a square | 0:07:57 | 0:07:59
# I am a rectangle | 0:08:02 | 0:08:05
# I am a shape | 0:08:12 | 0:08:14

# I am a shape | 0:08:26 | 0:08:28
# I am a square. # | 0:08:35 | 0:08:37
What are the squares making today? | 0:08:39 | 0:08:42
Can you guess? | 0:08:44 | 0:08:45
Any ideas? | 0:08:47 | 0:08:49
It's a lion. | 0:08:53 | 0:08:55
Well done, Shapes. It's time to get back in the Marvellous Maker Case. | 0:08:57 | 0:09:02
-ALL: -Whoo! | 0:09:02 | 0:09:05
Oh, I love it here in Hong Kong. I've had such a fantastic time. | 0:09:10 | 0:09:15
-PHONE RINGS -Oh! | 0:09:15 | 0:09:17
The Maker Phone's ringing. Excuse me. | 0:09:17 | 0:09:20
Oh, it's Tocky. | 0:09:20 | 0:09:22
It's Minute Make time in the UK. | 0:09:22 | 0:09:26
Thanks, Tocky. I'm on my way. | 0:09:26 | 0:09:29
Hoo-hoo! Here we go! | 0:09:29 | 0:09:31
-It's Minute Make time! -ALL: -Yay! | 0:09:51 | 0:09:55
Thanks for coming, everyone. Thank you, sir. Nice to meet you. | 0:09:55 | 0:09:59
Lovely to see you, madam. Hello... Ooh! | 0:09:59 | 0:10:02
Wow, madam! What beautiful hands you have. | 0:10:02 | 0:10:06
Ha-ha... | 0:10:06 | 0:10:08
Today, my friends, we're going to make one of these. | 0:10:08 | 0:10:13
It's a funny furry hand. | 0:10:13 | 0:10:16
Now, we can make one of these in just one minute | 0:10:16 | 0:10:20
by using these arty things. Let's have a look. | 0:10:20 | 0:10:23
We've got a rubber glove, | 0:10:23 | 0:10:25
a glue stick, some scissors, | 0:10:25 | 0:10:27
some fun fur, | 0:10:27 | 0:10:29
a pen and some fun foam. | 0:10:29 | 0:10:32
Now, do you think it's possible | 0:10:32 | 0:10:34
to make this funny furry hand | 0:10:34 | 0:10:38
in just one minute? | 0:10:38 | 0:10:39
ALL: No way! | 0:10:39 | 0:10:41
Oh, really? Well, I think I can. | 0:10:41 | 0:10:44
I'll have to be very quick, | 0:10:44 | 0:10:46
but don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. | 0:10:46 | 0:10:49
-Are you ready? -Yes! | 0:10:49 | 0:10:52
Are you ready? | 0:10:52 | 0:10:54
Fantastic! Let's make it in a minute. | 0:10:54 | 0:10:57
Three, two, one. | 0:10:57 | 0:10:59
Start the clock. | 0:10:59 | 0:11:00
The first thing we'll do is take our foam and scissors | 0:11:00 | 0:11:03
and very carefully cut out some triangle shapes. | 0:11:03 | 0:11:07
-I'm being very careful because scissors are... -Sharp! | 0:11:07 | 0:11:11
That's right. I'm going to cut one, two, three, | 0:11:11 | 0:11:14
four, five triangles. | 0:11:14 | 0:11:16
These will be the fingernails. | 0:11:16 | 0:11:18
Let's get a pen and we'll draw some wrinkles | 0:11:18 | 0:11:21
and crinkles onto our rubber glove. | 0:11:21 | 0:11:24
There we go, wrinkles and crinkles. | 0:11:24 | 0:11:28
And now we need to get some glue. | 0:11:30 | 0:11:32
Let's put some glue on the end of all the fingers of the glove | 0:11:32 | 0:11:37
like that, and then some glue on the back of the glove. | 0:11:37 | 0:11:40
Lots of it, like that. | 0:11:40 | 0:11:42
Let's stick on our fingernails. | 0:11:42 | 0:11:44
There's one, | 0:11:44 | 0:11:46
there's two, | 0:11:46 | 0:11:47
count with me, everyone. | 0:11:47 | 0:11:49
ALL: Three... | 0:11:49 | 0:11:51
Four... | 0:11:51 | 0:11:52
And five, and then just put the fur on the back, | 0:11:52 | 0:11:57
and I have made it! | 0:11:57 | 0:11:59
Yay! | 0:11:59 | 0:12:00 | |
Ha-ha! I did it. Just in time. | 0:12:00 | 0:12:04
But if you've got more than a minute, | 0:12:04 | 0:12:06
you can try all sorts of ideas. | 0:12:06 | 0:12:09
Whoa! What about this scary sea-monster hand | 0:12:09 | 0:12:13
with glittery fun foam scales and long, sparkly yellow fingernails? | 0:12:13 | 0:12:18
Wow! Or how about this glamorous lady's hand | 0:12:18 | 0:12:22
with bright red fingernails and a stick-on jewel for a ring? | 0:12:22 | 0:12:27
Whoa! Or you could even give someone a fright | 0:12:27 | 0:12:30
and make this gorilla's hand | 0:12:30 | 0:12:32
with brown foam nails and lots of fake fur. | 0:12:32 | 0:12:36
Funny, furry hands, made in just one minute. Why don't you try it? | 0:12:36 | 0:12:41
Here's a reminder of how to do it. | 0:12:41 | 0:12:44
Let's go back to the beginning and take another look. | 0:12:44 | 0:12:47
Cut triangles of fun foam for fingernails, | 0:12:47 | 0:12:50
draw wrinkles and crinkles onto the rubber glove, | 0:12:50 | 0:12:53
glue on the fingernails, | 0:12:53 | 0:12:55
stick on fake fur... | 0:12:55 | 0:12:57
..and your funny furry hand is finished. | 0:12:58 | 0:13:02
Why don't you try and make it in a minute? | 0:13:04 | 0:13:07
Thank you, madam, you've been great, | 0:13:07 | 0:13:10
and so have you, everyone. | 0:13:10 | 0:13:12
Thanks for being part of another marvellous minute make! | 0:13:12 | 0:13:15
ALL: Bye! | 0:13:15 | 0:13:16
It's the Queen's house, Buckingham Palace. Look. | 0:13:18 | 0:13:21
Oh... | 0:13:23 | 0:13:24 | |
Hey! What's this? | 0:13:24 | 0:13:27
Ah! It's a Mini Maker postcard. | 0:13:27 | 0:13:31
Let's see what we've been sent today. | 0:13:31 | 0:13:33
Hi, my name is Bailey and I'm from Australia | 0:13:33 | 0:13:37
and I made this kite for you, Mister Maker. | 0:13:37 | 0:13:40
I folded a piece of paper, then coloured it in, | 0:13:40 | 0:13:45
and put some straws on the back, | 0:13:45 | 0:13:47
and drew a smiley face on it. | 0:13:47 | 0:13:51
Do you want to make a kite like mine, Mister Maker? | 0:13:51 | 0:13:54
Hello, my name is Naomi and I come from Australia. | 0:13:55 | 0:13:59
I've made this sun | 0:13:59 | 0:14:00
out of some cupcake paper, | 0:14:00 | 0:14:03
and I've just got some cotton wool for the sheep, | 0:14:03 | 0:14:06
and I stuck it on. | 0:14:06 | 0:14:07
I hope you like it, Mister Maker. | 0:14:07 | 0:14:10
Oh, what lovely ideas. Why don't you try one of those? | 0:14:10 | 0:14:14
PHONE RINGS | 0:14:14 | 0:14:16
Oh, excuse me. | 0:14:16 | 0:14:17
Ah, some Mini Makers are calling. | 0:14:17 | 0:14:20
Hello, Mister Maker. I'm Seth. | 0:14:20 | 0:14:23
I'm from South Africa and these are my friends. | 0:14:23 | 0:14:26
Will you help us make a picture? | 0:14:26 | 0:14:28
Oh, what a great idea. I'm on my way. | 0:14:28 | 0:14:31
I'll be with you for a high-five in five, four... | 0:14:31 | 0:14:35
CHILDREN: Three... | 0:14:37 | 0:14:38
Two... | 0:14:38 | 0:14:40
One... | 0:14:40 | 0:14:42
We're in South Africa! | 0:14:42 | 0:14:45
I made it! I told you I would. | 0:14:45 | 0:14:48
Let's get some high-fives here. | 0:14:48 | 0:14:50
-What picture would you like to make? -ALL: An elephant. | 0:14:51 | 0:14:55
An elephant picture? That's a great idea. | 0:14:55 | 0:14:58
Now, what do elephants look like? | 0:14:58 | 0:15:00
Long trunk and some big ears. | 0:15:00 | 0:15:02
They've got big ears, yes, just like me. | 0:15:02 | 0:15:05
And what else should we have in our picture? | 0:15:05 | 0:15:07
Flamingos. | 0:15:07 | 0:15:09
Flamingos! And what colour are flamingos? | 0:15:09 | 0:15:12
-Pink. -Pink? | 0:15:12 | 0:15:13
-Oh, brilliant ideas. I think we're ready, aren't we? -Yes! | 0:15:13 | 0:15:17
Let's make it together. | 0:15:17 | 0:15:19
ALL: We are making the elephant. | 0:15:21 | 0:15:24
We need to be careful because... | 0:15:27 | 0:15:29
Scissors are sharp. | 0:15:29 | 0:15:31
THEY LAUGH | 0:15:31 | 0:15:33
These are flamingos. | 0:15:36 | 0:15:39
I'm colouring in the beak. | 0:15:39 | 0:15:41
BOTH: We're making the grass. | 0:15:41 | 0:15:44
And we'll need a nice bright background. | 0:15:47 | 0:15:50
We're having lots of fun making our elephant picture, | 0:16:01 | 0:16:05
and that just gave me an idea. | 0:16:05 | 0:16:08
Why don't you make something too? | 0:16:08 | 0:16:10
Try making a funny flamingo pencil topper that you can write with. | 0:16:10 | 0:16:15
You will need modelling clay, | 0:16:15 | 0:16:19
a pencil and a pen, | 0:16:19 | 0:16:21
paper and scissors, | 0:16:21 | 0:16:23
a circle of card, | 0:16:23 | 0:16:25
a glue stick, | 0:16:25 | 0:16:26
sticky tape and stickers, | 0:16:26 | 0:16:29
a pipe cleaner and some feathers. | 0:16:29 | 0:16:31
Start by rolling two balls of modelling clay. | 0:16:31 | 0:16:35
They need to be about the same size. | 0:16:35 | 0:16:39
Then carefully push one end of the pencil | 0:16:39 | 0:16:42
into one of the modelling clay balls | 0:16:42 | 0:16:44
so that it stands up like this. | 0:16:44 | 0:16:47
When you've done that, push the other piece of clay on top | 0:16:47 | 0:16:50
as this will become your flamingo's body. | 0:16:50 | 0:16:54
Next, take some paper | 0:16:55 | 0:16:56
and draw two wiggly lines that join up at each end. | 0:16:56 | 0:17:00
And carefully cut this out for a beak. | 0:17:00 | 0:17:03
Stick this to the circle of card. | 0:17:04 | 0:17:07
Add stickers for eyes. | 0:17:09 | 0:17:12
And draw black dots for pupils. | 0:17:12 | 0:17:15
Now just add other details on the face and beak. | 0:17:16 | 0:17:20
Tape the head to the pipe cleaner. | 0:17:22 | 0:17:25
And carefully push the other end of it into the modelling clay body. | 0:17:28 | 0:17:33
Curl the pipe cleaner slightly to make a bendy neck. | 0:17:33 | 0:17:36
Push feathers into the body for wings. | 0:17:40 | 0:17:43
And tape one to the top of the head. | 0:17:43 | 0:17:46
Now your flamingo pencil topper is finished, so take it out | 0:17:47 | 0:17:52
of the modelling clay stand and write with it. | 0:17:52 | 0:17:55
What a lovely idea. Why don't you try it? | 0:17:55 | 0:17:59
But first, let's see how our elephant picture is getting on. | 0:17:59 | 0:18:03
That's it, good work. | 0:18:05 | 0:18:07
