Get ready for an arty adventure around the world!

Today we fly off to South Africa to make a really wild animal picture.

And we show you how to make your very own flamingo pencil topper.

Find out how to make a funny furry hand in just a minute.

But first, we're off to Hong Kong for some fun with kitchen foil.

Oh, and look! Look at all the boats!

There are lots of boats sailing on wavy water.

That's just given me a great idea.

Let's try something!

Try making a fantastic silver-lined picture of a boat

sailing on wavy water.

Let's make it!

Now, we'll need a Mini Maker to help us.

Oh, great! Matthew is on his way to help us make our picture.

But first, we'll need somewhere to make it.

Oh, wonderful!

The Marvellous Maker Case has become a marvellous making table.

Now we just need some arty things to make our picture.

We'll need some cardboard-box card...

..some paint...

..some gloopy PVA glue and some kitchen foil...

..some sticky tape, and some paintbrushes,

and, of course, we need one more thing.

That's right, some maracas!

MARACAS SHAKE, SCRAPPZ HUMS

Wait a minute... We don't need maracas!

Scrappz, it's you! How did you get here?

-SCRAPPZ SQUEAKS

-Oh, I see.

Scrappz, open up, please. See if you can find a pen.

Go on, off you go.

Oh, there we go.

Thank you, Scrappz. Just what we need.

We've got a pen!

Great, we've got everything we need.

Although, it does feel like something's missing.

Do you know what it is? Erm...

Hi, Mister Maker.

Of course! Matthew, it's you, my friend!

Thank you very much for coming.

You're just in time to help us make a picture.

Look at that, it's a silver-lined picture

of a brilliant boat in a wavy sea.

-Now, Matthew, are you ready?

-Yes.

Good! Are you ready?

Fantastic! Let's get making!

Now, the first thing we need

is a sheet of cardboard-box card, like this.

We're going to draw something on it.

You can draw whatever you like,

but today we're going to draw a boat bobbing on the water,

with a chimney, a flag,

and floats along the side.

Let's get drawing!

When you've drawn your picture, you'll need some gloopy glue.

Matthew, can you find some gloopy glue, please? Thank you.

Watch this, Matthew.

Just squeeze gloopy glue all over the lines you've drawn.

When you've covered all the lines in your picture,

and left the glue to dry hard and bumpy, it'll look like this.

Now we need to cover this in a large sheet of kitchen foil.

I think you've got some, Matthew. Can you pass it over?

Ooh, it's a bit windy!

Now fold the foil over the edges of the cardboard.

And fix it in place with sticky tape and then turn it over.

And when you've done that, you'll need this - your finger.

Fingers at the ready.

We need to take our fingers and we're going to very carefully rub

the foil to make the bumps and the glue lines stand out.

And your picture should reappear where you have rubbed.

Now we're ready to colour in our picture inside the bumpy lines

with a very special painty mixture.

Now, Matthew, can you grab that big bottle of gloopy glue, please?

Add a big squirt to each colour of paint and start mixing.

Done.

Thank you very much, Matthew. Good mixing.

Now, the reason we've used gloopy glue in our mixture

is so that the paint sticks to the foil.

Let's start with some orange paint

and we can paint the main part of our boat.

Paint as carefully as you can...

..making sure that you don't get any paint on the bumpy silver lines.

Matthew, look, we've finished our picture.

And by not painting on the silver bumpy lines,

the boat really stands out.

And we've even left some parts of the picture to add to the effect.

Today, my friends, we're going to make one of these.

It's a funny furry hand.

Now, we can make one of these in just one minute

by using these arty things. Let's have a look.

We've got a rubber glove,

a glue stick, some scissors,

some fun fur,

a pen and some fun foam.

Now, do you think it's possible

to make this funny furry hand

in just one minute?

ALL: No way!

Oh, really? Well, I think I can.

I'll have to be very quick,

but don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

-Are you ready?

-Yes!

Are you ready?

Fantastic! Let's make it in a minute.

Three, two, one.

Start the clock.

The first thing we'll do is take our foam and scissors

and very carefully cut out some triangle shapes.

-I'm being very careful because scissors are...

-Sharp!

That's right. I'm going to cut one, two, three,

four, five triangles.

These will be the fingernails.

Let's get a pen and we'll draw some wrinkles

and crinkles onto our rubber glove.

There we go, wrinkles and crinkles.

And now we need to get some glue.

Let's put some glue on the end of all the fingers of the glove

like that, and then some glue on the back of the glove.

Lots of it, like that.

Let's stick on our fingernails.

There's one,

there's two,

count with me, everyone.

ALL: Three...

Four...

And five, and then just put the fur on the back,

and I have made it!

Yay!

Ha-ha! I did it. Just in time.

But if you've got more than a minute,

you can try all sorts of ideas.

Whoa! What about this scary sea-monster hand

with glittery fun foam scales and long, sparkly yellow fingernails?

Wow! Or how about this glamorous lady's hand

with bright red fingernails and a stick-on jewel for a ring?

Whoa! Or you could even give someone a fright

and make this gorilla's hand

with brown foam nails and lots of fake fur.

Funny, furry hands, made in just one minute. Why don't you try it?

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

Cut triangles of fun foam for fingernails,

draw wrinkles and crinkles onto the rubber glove,

glue on the fingernails,

stick on fake fur...

..and your funny furry hand is finished.

I made it! I told you I would.

Let's get some high-fives here.

-What picture would you like to make?

-ALL: An elephant.

An elephant picture? That's a great idea.

Now, what do elephants look like?

Long trunk and some big ears.

They've got big ears, yes, just like me.

And what else should we have in our picture?

Flamingos.

Flamingos! And what colour are flamingos?

-Pink.

-Pink?

-Oh, brilliant ideas. I think we're ready, aren't we?

-Yes!

Let's make it together.

ALL: We are making the elephant.

We need to be careful because...

Scissors are sharp.

THEY LAUGH

These are flamingos.

I'm colouring in the beak.

BOTH: We're making the grass.

And we'll need a nice bright background.

We're having lots of fun making our elephant picture,

and that just gave me an idea.

Why don't you make something too?

Try making a funny flamingo pencil topper that you can write with.

You will need modelling clay,

a pencil and a pen,

paper and scissors,

a circle of card,

a glue stick,

sticky tape and stickers,

a pipe cleaner and some feathers.

Start by rolling two balls of modelling clay.

They need to be about the same size.

Then carefully push one end of the pencil

into one of the modelling clay balls

so that it stands up like this.

When you've done that, push the other piece of clay on top

as this will become your flamingo's body.

Next, take some paper

and draw two wiggly lines that join up at each end.

And carefully cut this out for a beak.

Stick this to the circle of card.

Add stickers for eyes.

And draw black dots for pupils.

Now just add other details on the face and beak.

Tape the head to the pipe cleaner.

And carefully push the other end of it into the modelling clay body.

Curl the pipe cleaner slightly to make a bendy neck.

Push feathers into the body for wings.

And tape one to the top of the head.

Now your flamingo pencil topper is finished, so take it out

of the modelling clay stand and write with it.

What a lovely idea. Why don't you try it?

But first, let's see how our elephant picture is getting on.
